Romans, Chapter 2.2: Both Jews and Gentiles can only be justified through faith alone in the New Covenant Finished Work of Christ (2:17 - 5:21)

§Complement Introduction: Even the most religious person possible is condemned by the Law of Moses (2:17 - 3:8)

¶Opposite The proud Jew’s profession of faith in God is destroyed by his breaking of the Law of Moses (2:17 - 29)

¶Opposite God is always righteous in everything that He does, including judging sin (3:1 - 8)

§Complement Body: Justification from sin is by faith alone in the Finished Work of Christ without the works of the Law or circumcision (3:9 - 5:8)

¶Unique Both Jews and Gentiles can be justified by the same God through their faith in the Finished Work of Jesus Christ (3:9 - 31)

Opposite What then? Are we Jews better than Gentiles? No, not at all: for we have already demonstrated both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under the curse of sin: as it is written, “No one is righteous; no, not even one. There is no one that understands; there is no one that seeks after God; they have all gone out of the Way; they have together become unprofitable. There are none that do good; no, not even one. Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips, whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and misery are in their ways; and they have not known the Way of peace. There is no fear of God before their eyes.” And we know that whatsoever things the Law says, it says to them who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be shut, and all the world may become guilty before God; therefore, by the works of the Law, no flesh shall be justified in his sight: for by the Law is the knowledge of sin.

Opposite But now, the righteousness of God apart from the Law is revealed (being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets): even the righteousness of God which is through faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference, because all have sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the Redemption that is in Christ Jesus; whom God has displayed publicly, to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the passing over of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness, so that God might be just, and the justifier of him who believes in Jesus.

Complement Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what Law? Of works? No, but by the Law of faith; therefore, we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the Law.

Complement Is he the God of the Jews only? Is he not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also, seeing that there is one true God, who shall justify the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through the same faith.

Unique Do we then make the Law void through faith? Certainly not. In fact, we establish the Law.

Now that we have examined the first two subparagraphs thoroughly, we can now look at the entire paragraph to understand the message of Paul in its context, which is the only correct way to understand the Bible.

The only purpose of the moral Law of Moses (i.e. the Ten Commandments) was to make the entire world guilty before God.

God never intended the Law of Moses to be a means to be saved! It is impossible to keep the entire Law without being condemned by it sooner or later.

James 2:10-11: “For whosoever shall keep the whole Law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, “Do not commit adultery,” said also, “Do not kill.” Therefore, if you do not commit adultery, but you also kill, you have become a transgressor of the entire Law.”

I met a man one time, who claimed that he was keeping the Law to be saved. I asked him: what about the times that he broke the Law? Was God just going to ignore his sins? And he replied that he believed that God was good; and that would take care of his sins. But is this what the Bible says? That we only do our best and God will overlook the times that we failed and sinned against Him? Of course not!

This is a very common belief among those who try to observe the Ten Commandments to be saved; and it includes people from all religions, including sadly, many who claim to be Baptists: people who should know better, but somehow misinterpret the Bible or only hear what they want to hear from the preacher.

Sadly, this is not the message of the Lord Jesus Christ and his Apostles:

Matthew 7:21-23: “Not every one that says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but only he that does the will of my Father, who is in Heaven. Many will say to me in that day, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your Name? And in your Name, have we not cast out demons? And in your Name, have we not done many wonderful works?’ And then will I profess to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you that work iniquity.’”

I shared these stories as a warning to many people who will go to Hell when they die, because they have failed to recognize that they are a sinner in the sight of God; and they never acknowledged this fact to the Lord Jesus Christ. Instead, they strive very hard to be a good church member, they do their best to be a good neighbor, they sit up straight in church, they smile; they are dressed well; and even know how to pray. But they have never been born again through repentance and faith in the Finished Work of Christ!

Summary: The moral Law cannot save you, no matter how hard you try to keep it!

The purpose of the Finished Work of Christ is to provide salvation to all who will acknowledge their sins before God and receive Christ as their personal Savior.

Unique: Imputation & Declaration - God the Father credits (or imputes) to the believer his own righteousness in response to our faith in the Finished Work of Christ on the cross and declares the sinner who believes in Jesus Christ to be righteous in his sight (our new standing or position with God)

Complement: Propitiation - Jesus Christ was a propitiation for the sins of all mankind on the cross; and atoned for every sin: past, present, and future

Complement: Redemption - The sinner is redeemed from the slave market of sin by the Finished Work of Christ and given the potential of living victoriously over sin as they obey the Holy Spirit each moment.

The salvation of Christ is thorough and complete! Amen. Notice that each Person of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) is represented in each part of the work of Salvation by God.

Here are some more things that happen when a sinner has repented and received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior:

1) The sinner instantly becomes an adopted child of God!

Romans 8:14-17: “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God: for you have not received the spirit of slavery again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, “Papa, Father!” The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God; and if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ (if it is true that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together).”

2) The sinner instantly becomes a servant of righteousness instead of a slave of sin!

Romans 6:17-18: “But thanks to God, that you were the servants of sin; but you have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered to you. Being then made free from the sin nature, you became the servants of righteousness.”

3) The sinner instantly receives a new nature from God!

Romans 7:17-20: “So then, it is no more I that do it, but the sin nature that dwells in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh), dwells nothing good: for I want to do good, but how to perform that which is good, I do not find. For the good that I want to do, I do not do it; but the evil that I do not wish to do, that is what I find myself doing. So if I do that which I do not wish to do, it is no longer I that am doing it, but the sin nature that dwells in me.”

Romans 8:5-6: “For they that walk according to the flesh think about the things of the flesh; but they that walk according to the Spirit think about the things of the Spirit. For having a carnal mind is death; but having a spiritual mind is life and peace.”

4) The sinner instantly receives the Holy Spirit as the downpayment of his inheritance in Heaven! This happens immediately after we receive Christ as our personal Savior; it has nothing to do with “speaking in tongues” or baptism in water!

Ephesians 1:11-14: “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will, that we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom you also trusted, after that you heard the Word of Truth, the Gospel of your salvation; in whom also after you believed in Christ, you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, which is the down-payment of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of his glory.”

We will discuss these doctrines in detail as we work our way through the Letter to the Romans and eventually the Letter to the Ephesians.

Here are some things that do NOT happen when a sinner has repented and received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior:

1) The new believer in Christ does NOT become part of the Body of Christ; neither do they become part of the invisible “church”.

This is not a popular teaching! I cannot go into great detail on this here, but we will study it in the first letter to the Corinthians.

1 Corinthians 12:27: “Now all of you [the church at Corinth] are a Body of Christ, and parts in particular.”

1 Corinthians 12:27: “υμεις δε εστε σωμα χριστου και μελη εκ μερους.” (Received text).

Notice that there is no definite article on “σωμα χριστου”. “Ye” or “all of you” are “a body of Christ”. Each church or congregation is “a body of Christ”!

Some of you might be thinking that this sounds like heresy, because every preacher you know says that when a sinner is saved, they become part of the universal Body of Christ or “the Church”. It is true that that teaching is very popular, but that doesn’t mean it is biblical!

Briefly, the “Universal Body of Christ” is part of the Protestant and Calvinist teachings that go together as a package. Many Baptists have adopted “the Universal Church” over the last 120 years, because of the influence of “Fundamentalism”, which is a movement that seeks to unify Protestants and Baptists around only the “essential” teachings of the Bible; or, “the Fundamentals”.

But this means that you have to ignore important Apostolic teachings such as 1 Corinthians 12:27 that contradict the so-called “Universal Church” idea, and also Baptism in water by immersion of believers only, not infants. This is wrong! I refuse to teach something just because it is popular! I only want to believe and teach what the Bible actually says, period.

Before the Fundamentalist movement began in the late 1800s, Baptists believed and taught that each church was a body of Christ; they were called “Old Baptists”. But once the Fundamentalist movement became strong because of a desire to unify against the tide of liberal heresy coming from Europe, the desire to speak a common language against liberalism was stronger than the desire to follow the Word of God; and so Baptists began teaching the "Universal church" doctrine. I can understand the desire to reject liberalism, but I do not accept the "Universal church"; it is not of God; and I will explain that in much more detail in the detailed studies of 1 Corinthians.

2) The new believer in Christ does not stop sinning! But the new believer becomes subject to the chastisement of the Lord, because now God is his spiritual Father; and God doesn't want his child to sin against Him.

1 John 1:8-10: “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar; and his Word is not in us.”

Hebrews 12:5-8: "And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to children, “My son, despise not the discipline of [Jehovah], nor faint when you are rebuked by him: for whom [Jehovah] loves he disciplines, and scourges every son whom he receives.” If you endure discipline, God deals with you as with sons: for what son is he whom the father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline, whereof all are partakers, then you are illegitimate, and not truly sons of God."

3) The new believer in Christ does not speak in tongues!

A complete discussion requires many Scriptures which I cannot include here, but we will discuss this thoroughly in the detailed study of 1 Corinthians.

Sinners are justified by faith in the Finished Work of Christ apart from the works of the Moral Law of Moses

Because our repentance and faith in the Finished Work of Christ is the only thing that God accepts, this means that our works (no matter how good or how many) are worthless in the sight of God!

Romans 3:27: “Boasting...is excluded”!

Luke 18:9-14: “And he spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: “Two men went up into the Temple to pray: one a Pharisee, and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank you, that I am not as other men are: extortionists, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice in the week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ And the tax collector, standing far away, would not lift up so much as his eyes to Heaven; but he smote upon his breast, saying, ‘God be merciful to me a sinner.’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for everyone that exalts himself shall be humbled; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.”

Isaiah 64:6: “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteous works are like filthy rags; and we all fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”

Jehovah is the one true God of both Jews and Gentiles who justifies both of them by the same faith in the Finished Work of Christ

One of the main points that Paul was making in the Letter to the Romans was that while Jews are indeed special in the eyes of God because of the Old Covenant that Jehovah made to their fathers (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob), the same Way of Salvation applies to both Jews and Gentiles.

Jews are not given a special pass by God, simply because their fathers had a covenant with Jehovah! No, they must also realize that the Law condemns them as sinners before Jehovah God, and they must also turn to Jesus Christ and confess that He is the Son of God, and that his Finished Work on the cross atoned for their sins.

In recent years, some preachers in the US have claimed that Jews do not need to believe in Christ to be saved; but clearly the Bible does not agree. God will hold them responsible for their false teachings!

Jehovah is the one true God of both Jews and Gentiles who requires the same repentance and faith of sinners to be saved!

The moral Law of Moses is established by the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Unique Do we then make the Law void through faith? Certainly not. In fact, we establish the Law.

Some believers misunderstand the Gospel of Christ on this point! They believe that if they believe in Jesus, then the Law of Moses no longer matters; but this is not accurate.

The moral Law of Moses is actually the Key to the Gospel (the Finished Work of Christ), as I have already discussed in the points above! Here is why:

1) If a sinner does not understand that THEY are a sinner before God, and that THEY HAVE SINNED AGAINST GOD, then they will never be saved!

Romans 3:19-20: “And we know that whatsoever things the Law says, it says to them who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be shut, and all the world may become guilty before God; therefore, by the works of the Law, no flesh shall be justified in his sight: for by the Law is the knowledge of sin.”

2) The moral Law of Moses points the sinner to Christ as the answer to their sin problem with God:

Galatians 3:24: “Therefore the Law was our tutor to point us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith in him.”

3) A sinner cannot be saved merely by “believing in Jesus”! Lots of people “believe in Jesus”: they believe that He is the Son of God, they believe that He died on the cross and rose again from the dead; and they even believe the Bible (except the parts that they don’t like).

But the most important thing that these people have failed to recognize is their own sinfulness before God! They are modern-day Pharisees, who are trying to “be good” as a way to not have too many bad works, so that they will have more good works than bad works, and God will weigh their good works against their bad works, and then let them into Heaven when they die (they think).

They say,

“I haven’t robbed any banks”;

“I’m as good as anyone else”;

“I’m a good person”;

“I’ve read the Bible”;

“I go to church/synagogue/mosque”;

“I’m an honest person”;

“I pray to Mary and the saints”;

“I pray to Allah”

“I pray to Buddha”

“I pray to the gods”

“I do many wonderful works”

etc etc.

They don’t realize that their good works are utterly worthless in the sight of God for salvation! God will never accept any of these excuses and fig leaves!

Isaiah 64:6: “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteous works are like filthy rags; and we all fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”

Only our repentance and faith in the Finished Work of Christ on the cross can save us! Amen.

Salvation cannot happen every day. I spoke with a man once who said that he received Christ as his Savior every day. But this is an error! No one can be saved every day. If you have been saved, then you have been saved forever! Otherwise, you weren’t saved at all and you are still lost and going to Hell.

No, salvation can only happen once in our lifetime when we come to the end of ourselves and realize that we am lost and undone without God, that we have sinned against the thrice-holy God of Heaven; and unless I repent and receive Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, then I will go to Hell.

41 years ago, I didn’t want that to happen! So then I called upon the Name of the Lord Jesus, acknowledging to Him that I was a sinner, that He is the Son of God who died on the cross to atone for my sins; and that He was buried and rose from the dead three days later, victorious over sin, death, Hell, and the grave!

When I did this, then my repentance and faith in the Finished Work of Christ on the cross was credited by God for righteousness. He declared me to be righteous in his sight: not because of anything that I have done, but because of my faith in the Finished Work of Christ; Amen!

Titus 3:5-6: “not by works of righteousness which we have done; but according to his mercy, he has saved us by the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Spirit; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior”

AND YOU MUST DO THE SAME THING. Here is a prayer that you can use to be saved, right now:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against YOU. I am no good, and you are righteous! You are my only hope for salvation! I believe that you died on the cross for my sins, you were buried, and you rose again from the dead on the third day. I want you to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. Please come into my heart right now. Forgive me for all my sins, and save my soul. In the mighty Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen!”

Destrucción y miseria están en sus caminos; y no han conocido el Camino de la paz. No hay temor de Dios delante de sus ojos”. Y sabemos que cualquier cosa que dice la Ley, ello les dice a los que son bajos la Ley, para que cada boca puede estar cerrada, y todo el mundo puede llegar a ser culpable ante Dios; por tanto, por las obras de la Ley ninguna carne será justificada en su vista: porque por la Ley es el conocimiento del pecado.

Lo opuesto Pero ahora, la justicia de Dios aparte de la Ley se revela (siendo testificada por la Ley y los Profetas), aun la justicia de Dios cual es a través de la fe de Jesucristo hasta todos y sobre todos los que creen: porque no hay diferencia: porque todos han pecado, y se han quedado cortos de la gloria de Dios; siendo justificados gratuitamente por su gracia mediante la redención que es en Cristo Jesús; quien Dios ha exhibido públicamente, ser una propiciación a través de la fe en su sangre, declarar su justicia para la remisión de los pecados pasados, a través de la paciencia de Dios; para declarar, digo, en este tiempo su justicia; para que Dios sea justo, y el justificador de él quien cree en Jesús.

Comentarios: Aquí hay una versión comprimida del esquema de este párrafo. Observe el diseño de la Proporción Áurea al revés: dos opuestos, dos complementarios y uno único:

El complemento Jehová es el único Dios verdadero tanto de judíos como de gentiles que los justifica a ambos por la misma fe en la Obra terminada de Cristo

Único La Ley se establece por la fe en la Obra terminada de Cristo

Ahora que hemos examinado detenidamente los dos primeros párrafos, ahora podemos mirar el párrafo completo para entender el mensaje de Pablo en su contexto, que es la única manera correcta de entender la Biblia.

El único propósito de la Ley moral de Moisés (es decir, los Diez Mandamientos) era hacer que el mundo entero fuera culpable ante Dios

¡Dios nunca tuvo la intención que la Ley de Moisés fuera un medio para ser salvado! Es imposible guardar toda la Ley sin ser condenado por ella tarde o temprano.

Jacobo 2:10-11: “Porque cualquiera que guarde toda la Ley, y aún ofende en un punto, es culpable de todo: porque él que dijo, “No cometas adulterio”, también dijo, “No mates”. Por lo tanto, si no cometes adulterio, sino que también matas, te has convertido en transgresor de toda la Ley”.

Una vez conocí a un hombre que afirmaba que estaba guardando la Ley para ser salvado. Le pregunté: ¿qué pasa con las veces que violó la Ley? ¿Dios simplemente iba a ignorar los pecados de él? Y él respondió que creía que Dios era bueno; y eso se haría cargo de sus pecados. ¿Pero es esto lo que dice la Biblia? ¿Que solo hacemos lo mejor que podemos y Dios pasará por alto las veces que fallamos y pecamos contra Él? ¡Por supuesto que no!

Esta es una creencia muy común entre quienes intentan observar los Diez Mandamientos para ser salvados; e incluye personas de todas las religiones, incluidos, lamentablemente, muchos que dicen ser bautistas: personas que deberían saberlo mejor, pero de alguna manera malinterpretan la Biblia o solo escuchan lo que quieren escuchar del predicador.

Lamentablemente, este no es el mensaje del Señor Jesucristo y sus Apóstoles:

Mateo 7:21-23: “No todo el que me dice, ‘Señor, Señor’, entrará en el Reino del Cielo; sino el que hace la voluntad de mi Padre quien está en el Cielo. Muchos me dirán en aquel día, diciendo: ‘Señor, Señor, ¿no hemos profetizado en tu Nombre? Y en tu Nombre, ¿no hemos echado fuera demonios? Y en tu Nombre, ¿no hemos hecho muchas obras maravillosas?’. Y entonces yo profesaré a ellos, ‘Nunca os conocí; apartaos de mí, obradores de maldad’”.

Compartí estas historias como una advertencia para muchas personas quien irán al infierno cuando mueran, porque no han reconocido que son pecadores ante los ojos de Dios; y nunca reconocieron este hecho al Señor Jesucristo. En cambio, se esfuerzan mucho por ser buenos miembros de la iglesia, hacen lo mejor que pueden para ser buenos vecinos, se sientan erguidos en la iglesia, sonríen; están bien vestidos; e incluso saber orar. ¡Pero nunca han nacido de nuevo mediante el arrepentimiento y la fe en la Obra terminada de Cristo!

Resumen: ¡La Ley moral no puede salvarte, no importa cuánto intentes cumplirla!

El propósito de la Obra terminada de Cristo es proporcionar salvación a todos los que reconozcan sus pecados ante Dios y reciban a Cristo como su Salvador personal.

Único: La Imputación y la Declaración - Dios el Padre acredita (o imputa) al creyente su propia justicia en respuesta a nuestra fe en la Obra terminada de Cristo en la cruz y Él declara que el pecador que cree en Jesucristo es justo ante sus ojos (nuestra nueva posición o posición ante Dios)

El Complemento: La Propiciación - Jesucristo fue una propiciación por los pecados de toda la humanidad en la cruz; y expió todos los pecados: pasados, presentes y futuros

El Complemento: La Redención - El pecador es redimido del mercado de esclavos del pecado por la Obra terminada de Cristo y se le da el potencial de vivir victoriosamente sobre el pecado como ellos obedecen al Espíritu Santo en cada momento.

¡La salvación de Cristo es total y completa! Amén. Note que cada Persona de la Trinidad (Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo) está representada en cada parte de la obra de Salvación de Dios.

Aquí hay algunas cosas más que suceden cuando un pecador se ha arrepentido y ha recibido a Jesucristo como su Salvador personal:

1) ¡El pecador se convierte instantáneamente en un hijo adoptivo de Dios!

Romanos 8:14-17: “Porque tantos como son guiados por el Espíritu de Dios, ellos son los hijos de dios: porque no habéis recibido el espíritu de servidumbre para estar otra vez en temor, sino habéis recibido el Espíritu de adopción, por el cual clamamos, “¡Abba Padre!”. El Espíritu mismo da testimonio a nuestro espíritu que somos los hijos de Dios; y si somos hijos, también somos herederos: herederos de Dios, y coherederos con Cristo (si es cierto que sufrimos con él, para que también podamos ser glorificados juntos)”.

2) ¡El pecador instantáneamente se convierte en siervo de la justicia en lugar de esclavo del pecado!

Romanos 6:17-18: “Pero gracias hasta Dios, que ustedes erais los siervos del pecado; sino habéis obedecido desde corazón la forma de doctrina que os fue entregada. Siendo entonces hechos libres de la naturaleza pecaminosa, ustedes se convirtieron en los siervos de la justicia”.

3) ¡El pecador recibe instantáneamente una nueva naturaleza de Dios!

Romanos 7:17-20: “Así que, ya no soy yo quien lo hace, sino la naturaleza pecaminosa que mora en mí. Porque sé que en mí (es decir, en mi carne) habita nada bueno; porque quiero hacer el bien, pero cómo hacer lo que es bueno, no lo encuentro. Porque el bien que quiero hacer, no lo hago; pero el mal que no quiero hacer, eso es lo que me encuentro haciendo. Así que si hago lo que no quiero hacer, ya no es yo el que lo estoy haciendo, sino la naturaleza pecaminosa que habita en mí”.

Romanos 8:5-6: “Porque los que andan conforme a la carne, piensan acerca de las cosas de la carne; pero los que andan conforme el Espíritu, piensan acerca de las cosas del Espíritu. Porque tener una mente carnal es la muerte, pero tener una mente espiritual es vida y paz”.

4) ¡El pecador recibe instantáneamente el Espíritu Santo como pago inicial de su herencia en el Cielo! Esto sucede inmediatamente después de que recibimos a Cristo como nuestro Salvador personal; ¡No tiene nada que ver con “hablar en lenguas” o el bautismo en agua!

Efesios 1:11-14: “En quien también obtuvimos herencia, habiendo sido predestinados conforme al propósito de Aquél que hace todas las cosas según el consejo de su voluntad; para que seamos para alabanza de su gloria, nosotros quienes primero confiamos en Cristo. En el cual también confiasteis ustedes, habiendo oído la Palabra de Verdad, el Evangelio de vuestra salvación; en quien también, cuando que creísteis en Cristo, fuisteis sellados con el Espíritu Santo de la promesa, cual es el pago inicial de nuestra herencia hasta la redención de la posesión adquirida, para alabanza de su gloria”.

Discutiremos estas doctrinas en detalle a medida que avancemos en la Carta a los Romanos y, finalmente, en la Carta a los Efesios.

Aquí hay algunas cosas que NO suceden cuando un pecador se arrepiente y recibe a Jesucristo como su Salvador personal:

1) El nuevo creyente en Cristo NO pasa a ser parte del Cuerpo de Cristo; tampoco pasan a formar parte de la “iglesia” invisible.

¡Está no es una enseñanza popular! No puedo entrar en grandes detalles sobre esto aquí, pero lo estudiaremos en la primera carta a los Corintios.

1 Corintios 12:27: “Ustedes, pues, sois un cuerpo de Cristo, y miembros en particular”.

1 Corintios 12:27: “υμεις δε εστε σωμα χριστου και μελη εκ μερους.” (Texto recibido).

Tenga en cuenta que no existe un artículo definido sobre “σωμα χριστου”. “Ustedes” o “todos ustedes” sois “un cuerpo de Cristo”. ¡Cada iglesia o congregación es “un cuerpo de Cristo”!

Algunos de vosotros estaréis pensando que esto suena a herejía, porque todo predicador que conoces dice que cuando un pecador es salvado, pasa a formar parte del Cuerpo universal de Cristo o “la Iglesia”. Es cierto que esa enseñanza es muy popular, ¡pero eso no significa que sea bíblica!

Brevemente, el “Cuerpo Universal de Cristo” es parte de las enseñanzas protestantes y calvinistas que van juntas como un paquete. Muchos bautistas han adoptado “la Iglesia Universal” en los últimos 120 años, debido a la influencia del “fundamentalismo”, que es un movimiento que busca unificar a protestantes y bautistas en torno únicamente a las enseñanzas “esenciales” de la Biblia; o “los Fundamentos”.

Pero esto significa que debes ignorar importantes enseñanzas apostólicas como 1 Corintios 12:27 que contradicen la idea de la llamada “Iglesia Universal”, y también el bautismo en agua por inmersión únicamente de creyentes, no de niños. ¡Esto está mal! ¡Me niego a enseñar algo sólo porque es popular! Sólo quiero creer y enseñar lo que la Biblia realmente dice, punto.

Antes de que comenzara el movimiento fundamentalista a fines del siglo XIX, los bautistas creían y enseñaban que cada iglesia era un cuerpo de Cristo; Ellos fueron llamados "viejos bautistas". Pero una vez que el movimiento fundamentalista se hizo fuerte debido al deseo de unificarse contra la marea de herejía liberal procedente de Europa, el deseo de hablar un lenguaje común contra el liberalismo fue más fuerte que el deseo de seguir la Palabra de Dios; y así los bautistas comenzaron a enseñar la doctrina de la "iglesia universal". Puedo entender el deseo de rechazar el liberalismo, pero no acepto la "Iglesia Universal"; no es de Dios; y lo explicaré con mucho más detalle en los estudios detallados de 1 Corintios.

2) ¡El nuevo creyente en Cristo NO deja de pecar! Pero el nuevo creyente queda sujeto al castigo del Señor, porque ahora Dios es su Padre espiritual; y Dios no quiere que su niño peque contra Él.

1 Juan 1:8-10: “Si decimos que no tenemos pecado, nos engañamos a nosotros mismos, y la Verdad no está en nosotros. Si confesamos nuestros pecados, él es fiel y justo para perdonar nuestros pecados, y limpiarnos de toda injusticia. Si decimos que no hemos pecado, le hacemos mentiroso; y su Palabra no está en nosotros”.

Hebreos 12:5-8: "Y ustedes ha olvidado la exhortación que habla a ustedes como a niños: “Hijo mío, no desprecies la disciplina de [Jehová], ni desmayes cuando seas reprendido por él: porque quien [Jehová] ama, él disciplina; y él azota a todo hijo que recibe”. Si soportáis el castigo, Dios os trata como con hijos: porque ¿qué hijo es aquel a quien el padre no castiga? Pero si seáis sin el castigo, del cual todos son hechos partícipes, entonces ustedes son ilegítimos, y no sois verdaderamente hijos de Dios".

3) ¡El nuevo creyente en Cristo no habla en lenguas!

Una discusión completa requiere muchas Escrituras que no puedo incluir aquí, pero discutiremos esto a fondo en el estudio detallado de 1 Corintios.

Los pecadores son justificados por la fe en la Obra terminada de Cristo aparte de las obras de la Ley Moral de Moisés

Porque nuestro arrepentimiento y fe en la Obra terminada de Cristo es lo único que Dios acepta, ¡esto significa que nuestras obras (ni importa cuán buenas o cuántas) sean inútiles ante los ojos de Dios!

Romanos 3:27: “la jactancia...es excluyó”!

Lucas 18:9-14: “Y dijo esta parábola a unos quien confiaban en sí mismos que eran justos, y despreciaron a otros: “Dos hombres subieron al templo para orar: uno un fariseo; y el otro, un recaudador de impuestos. El fariseo, de pie, rezó esto consigo mismo, ‘Dios, te doy gracias que no soy como lo son otros hombres: extorsionadores, injustos, adúlteros, o incluso como este recaudador de impuestos; ayuno dos veces a la semana; doy diezmos de todo lo que poseo’. Y el recaudador de impuestos, de pie muy lejos, no levantaría tanto como sus ojos al Cielo, sino él se estaba golpeando el pecho, diciendo, ‘Dios, sé propicio a mí, un pecador’. Os digo que este hombre descendió a su casa justificado en lugar de la otra: porque cualquiera que se enaltece, será humillado; y el que se humilla, será enaltecido.”

Isaías 64:6: “Pero todos somos como cosa inmunda, y todas nuestras obras de justicia son como trapos de inmundicia; y todos nos desvanecemos como una hoja, y nuestras iniquidades, como el viento, nos han llevado”.

Jehová es el único Dios verdadero tanto de los judíos y los gentiles, quien los justifica a ambos por la misma fe en la Obra terminada de Cristo

El complemento ¿Es él el Dios de los judíos solamente? ¿No es él también el Dios de los gentiles? Si, de los gentiles también: viendo que hay un solo Dios verdadero, quien justificará la circuncisión por la fe y la incircuncisión a través de la misma fe. Uno de los puntos principales que Pablo estaba planteando en la Carta a los Romanos era que si bien los judíos son realmente especiales a los ojos de Dios debido al Antiguo Pacto que Jehová hizo con sus padres (Abraham, Isaac y Jacob), el mismo Camino de Salvación se aplica tanto a judíos como a gentiles.

¡Dios no les da un pase especial a los judíos simplemente porque sus padres tenían un pacto con Jehová! No, también deben darse cuenta de que la Ley los condena como pecadores ante Jehová Dios, y también deben volverse a Jesucristo y confesar que Él es el Hijo de Dios,y que su Obra Terminada en la cruz expió sus pecados.

En los últimos años, algunos predicadores en Estados Unidos han afirmado que los judíos no necesitan creer en Cristo para ser salvados; pero claramente la Biblia no está de acuerdo. ¡Dios los hará responsables de por sus falsas enseñanzas!

¡Jehová es el único Dios verdadero tanto de los judíos y los gentiles quien requiere el mismo arrepentimiento y fe de los pecadores para ser salvados!

La Ley moral de Moisés está establecida por el Evangelio de Jesucristo

Único Entonces, ¿invalidamos la Ley a través de la fe? ¡Ciertamente no! De hecho, establecemos la Ley.

¡Algunos creyentes malinterpretan el Evangelio de Cristo en este punto! Creen que si creen en Jesús, entonces la Ley de Moisés ya no importa; pero esto no es exacto.

¡La Ley moral de Moisés es en realidad la Clave del Evangelio (la Obra terminada de Cristo), como ya lo he discutido en los puntos anteriores! He aquí por qué:

1)Si un pecador no entiende que es pecador ante Dios, y que HA PECADO CONTRA DIOS, ¡entonces nunca será salvado!

Romanos 3:19-20: “Y sabemos que cualquier cosa que dice la Ley, ello les dice a los que son bajos la Ley, para que cada boca puede estar cerrada, y todo el mundo puede llegar a ser culpable ante Dios; por tanto, por las obras de la Ley ninguna carne será justificada en su vista: porque por la Ley es el conocimiento del pecado”.

2) La Ley moral de Moisés señala al pecador hacia Cristo como la respuesta a su problema de pecado con Dios:

Gálatas 3:24: “TherePor lo tanto, la Ley fue nuestro tutor para señalarnos a Cristo, para que pudiéramos ser justificados por la fe en él.”

3) ¡Un pecador no puede ser salvado simplemente “creyendo en Jesús”! Mucha gente “cree en Jesús”: creen que Él es el Hijo de Dios, creen que murió en la cruz y resucitó de entre los muertos; e incluso creen en la Biblia (excepto las partes que no les gustan).

¡Pero lo más importante que estas personas no han reconocido es su propia pecaminosidad ante Dios! Son los fariseos de hoy en día, que están tratando de “ser buenos” como una manera de no tener demasiadas malas obras, para tener más buenas obras que malas, y Dios sopesará sus buenas obras con sus malas obras, y luego los dejará entrar al Cielo cuando mueran (piensan).

Ellos dicen,

“no he robado ningún banco”;

“Soy tan bueno como cualquier otra persona”;

“Soy buena persona”;

“He leído la biblia”;

“Voy a la iglesia/sinagoga/mezquita”;

“soy una persona honesta”;

“Rezo a María y a los santos”;

“Le rezo a Allah”

“le rezo a buda”

“rezo a los dioses”

“hago a muchas obras maravillosas”

etc etc.

¡No se dan cuenta de que sus buenas obras son completamente inútiles a los ojos de Dios para salvación! ¡Dios nunca aceptará ninguna de estas excusas y hojas de higo!

¡Solo nuestro arrepentimiento y fe en la Obra terminada de Cristo en la cruz pueden salvarnos! Amén.

La salvación no puede ocurrir todos los días. Una vez hablé con un hombre que dijo que recibía a Cristo como su Salvador todos los días. ¡Pero esto es un error! Nadie puede salvarse todos los días. ¡Si has sido salvado, entonces has sido salvado para siempre! De lo contrario, no fuiste salvado en absoluto y todavía estás perdido y yendo al infierno.

No, la salvación sólo puede ocurrir una vez en nuestras vidas cuando lleguemos al fin de nosotros mismos y damos cuenta de que estamos perdidos y deshechos sin Dios, que hemos pecado contra el tres veces santo Dios del Cielo; y a menos que me arrepienta y reciba a Jesucristo como mi Salvador personal, entonces iré al infierno.

¡Hace 41 años, no quería que eso sucediera! Entonces invoqué el Nombre del Señor Jesús, reconociéndole que era pecador, que Él es el Hijo de Dios que murió en la cruz para expiar mis pecados; ¡y que fue sepultado y resucitó de entre los muertos tres días después, victorioso sobre el pecado, la muerte, el infierno y la tumba!

Cuando hice esto, entonces mi arrepentimiento y fe en la Obra terminada de Cristo en la cruz fue acreditado por Dios por la justicia. Él me declaró justo ante sus ojos: no por nada de lo que haya hecho, sino por mi fe en la Obra terminada de Cristo; ¡Amén!

Tito 3:5-6: “no por obras de justicia cual hayamos hecho, sino según su misericordia nos ha salvado, por el lavamiento de la regeneración y de la renovación del Espíritu Santo; cual él derramó en nosotros abundantemente mediante Jesús Cristo nuestro Salvador”.

Y TÚ DEBES HACER LO MISMO. Aquí tienes una oración que puedes usar para ser salvado, ahora mismo:

“Señor Jesús, sé que he pecado contra USTED. ¡No soy bueno y usted eres justo! Creo que moriste en la cruz por mis pecados, fuiste enterrado y resucitaste de entre los muertos al tercer día. Quiero que vengas a mi vida y seas mi Señor y Salvador. Por favor entra en mi corazón ahora mismo. Perdóname por todos mis pecados y salva mi alma. En el poderoso Nombre de Jesús, oro, ¡Amén!”
