Romans, Chapter 2.2: Both Jews and Gentiles can only be justified through faith alone in the New Covenant Finished Work of Christ (2:17 - 5:21)
§Complement Introduction: Even the most religious person possible is condemned by the Law of Moses (2:17 - 3:8)
¶Opposite The proud Jew’s profession of faith in God is destroyed by his breaking of the Law of Moses (2:17 - 29)
¶Opposite God is always righteous in everything that He does, including judging sin (3:1 - 8)
§Complement Body: Justification from sin is by faith alone in the Finished Work of Christ without the works of the Law or circumcision (3:9 - 5:8)

Opposite What then? Are we Jews better than Gentiles? No, not at all: for we have already demonstrated both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under the curse of sin: as it is written, “No one is righteous; no, not even one. There is no one that understands; there is no one that seeks after God; they have all gone out of the Way; they have together become unprofitable. There are none that do good; no, not even one. Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips, whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and misery are in their ways; and they have not known the Way of peace. There is no fear of God before their eyes.” And we know that whatsoever things the Law says, it says to them who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be shut, and all the world may become guilty before God; therefore, by the works of the Law, no flesh shall be justified in his sight: for by the Law is the knowledge of sin.
Opposite But now, the righteousness of God apart from the Law is revealed (being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets): even the righteousness of God which is through faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference, because all have sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the Redemption that is in Christ Jesus; whom God has displayed publicly, to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the passing over of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness, so that God might be just, and the justifier of him who believes in Jesus.
Complement Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what Law? Of works? No, but by the Law of faith; therefore, we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the Law.
Complement Is he the God of the Jews only? Is he not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also, seeing that there is one true God, who shall justify the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through the same faith.
Unique Do we then make the Law void through faith? Certainly not. In fact, we establish the Law.
Comments: Now I want to build on the previous two studies in Romans by taking a deep look at the TULIP doctrine of Calvinism.
If you missed those two studies, I highly recommend that you review them first before reading this study. I cannot repeat everything in those studies here.
Reformed theology is a complete package of teachings, not just TULIP
Reformed theology originally came from Protestantism and the Reformation. It was an attempt to “reform” the false teachings of Roman Catholicism to make them more Biblical; however, it failed badly, because it did not move all the way to the Bible! The Protestants retained the unbiblical doctrines of infant baptism, the state religion, and other grave clothes from Catholicism, such as Replacement Theology (the “church” has permanently replaced Israel and received all of her promises from God), which is 100% false.
Infant baptism teaches that water can wash away our sins, especially of babies; but the Bible teaches that only the blood of Jesus Christ can do that!
Hebrews 9:13-14: “For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies to the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the Eternal Spirit offered himself without spot unto God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”
A state religion is where everyone in a particular nation (e.g. the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc) is a member of one particular religion (Islam, Anglicanism, Presbyterianism, Lutheranism, etc). But the Bible teaches that each congregation is independent from the state and self-governing.
1 Corinthians 12:27: “Now all of you [the church at Corinth] are a Body of Christ, and parts in particular.”
2 Corinthians 1:23-24: “Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I did not come as yet to Corinth; not because we rule over your faith, but rather are helpers of your joy: for by faith you stand.”
Baptists need to remember this when they are tempted to adopt Reformed theology into their doctrines! All of those unbiblical doctrines go together with TULIP theology.
What does “TULIP” stand for?
T = Total Depravity: a sinner is totally depraved by sin and does not know God, and cannot know God by anything within himself. God must intervene to make that happen.
U = Unconditional Election: Those whom God chooses to be saved WILL be saved and those whom God chooses to be damned will be damned in Hell forever.
L = Limited Atonement: Jesus died only for the elect, not for anyone else.
I = Irresistible Grace: The elect are saved by the Irresistible grace of God and have no choice in the matter.
P = Perseverance of the Saints. There are conflicting interpretations:
1) the saint will perservere in serving God until the end of their life;
2) Eternal Security (once saved, always saved).
Now let’s compare the doctrines of TULIP to the Bible!
T = Total Depravity: a sinner is totally depraved by sin and does not know God, and cannot know God by themselves. God must intervene to make that happen.
John 6:44: “No man can come to me, unless the Father who has sent me draws him; and I will raise him up at the Last Day.”
Jesus said that the only way to be saved was if his Father drew him/her to Christ.
John 12:32: Jesus said, “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”
Total Depravity Grade = A, 100% correct according to the Bible.
U = Unconditional Election: Those whom God chooses to be saved WILL be saved and those whom God chooses to be damned will be damned in Hell forever.
In the previous study, I explained that there are three theories of election, not just two.
1) God chooses some to salvation, because they are important figures in the history of the Messianic line and in Bible history: Adam, Noah, Shem, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Joseph the stepfather of Jesus and Mary the mother of the humanity of Jesus; John the Baptist. Without the direct intervention of God and making sure that they fulfilled his purposes in their lives, they might not have been saved; and therefore, the purposes of God would have been frustrated. God made sure that this did not happen. This is a Biblical teaching.
Acts 9:15-16: “But the Lord said to him, “Go your way: for he is a chosen vessel to me, to carry my Name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: for I will show him what great things he must suffer for my Name’s sake.”
2) God has chosen some to Hell (e.g. Pharaoh [Romans 9:16], Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, and many others) so that his purposes in history will be accomplished.
In the previous study, I explained that the alternative translation of Romans 9:22 [shown here] shows that God has not chosen anyone to Hell. See the explanation in the previous study.
Romans 9:19-24: “You will say then to me, “Why does he still find fault? For who has resisted his will?” No, but, O man, who are you to contradict God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, “Why have you made me this way?” Does not the potter have power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel to honor, and another to dishonor? What if God (determining to show his wrath, and to make his power known) endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath, having prepared themselves for destruction, so that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had before prepared unto glory, even us, whom he has called: not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?” (Kingdom Study Bible)
3) God chose many to salvation whom He FOREKNEW (knew ahead of time) would respond to the Gospel and be saved. MANY are called to salvation and COULD be saved, but few are chosen. Only those whom God knows will obey the Gospel command to repent and believe in Jesus Christ were chosen. The others in this category refuse the opportunity to be saved or refuse to believe in the spiritual Light that they have; and sadly, they go on to die and they are punished in the Lake of Fire forever and ever, according to their works. From our perspective, this number could increase if the Gospel is preached to more sinners; from the perspective of God, the election has already happened from the beginning of the Creation.
Romans 8:29-30: “for those whom he foreknew, he also predestinated to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, those whom he predestinated, he also called them; and whom he called, he also justified them; and whom he justified, he also glorified them.”
Matthew 20:16: “So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many are called, but few are chosen.”
This text is particularly damaging to the claims of Calvinism, because if God called “many”, but only a few are chosen; and no one can be saved unless God chooses them: this means that the call of God to be saved is a false promise for most! In other words, with “Unconditional Election”, Calvinism is calling God a liar! As if God said, “Yes you are all called to come to Christ, but you can’t be saved unless I choose you; and I haven’t chosen you, (sorry).” (as it were). This is a vile attack on the integrity and truth of God!
God said, “Whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13), so it is true! It is not a false promise!
But if we understand that God foreknows who will be saved, and chooses those who respond to his call to be saved, then this text makes sense:
Matthew 20:16: “So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many are called, but few are chosen.”
Those who did not come, did not come of their own accord, because of the stubbornness of their own hearts! They were called, and COULD HAVE COME TO BE SAVED, but refused; and therefore, they were not chosen by God.
Proverbs 1:20-32: “Wisdom cries outside; she utters her voice in the streets; she cries in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates in the city, she utters her words, saying, “How long, you naive ones, will you love simplicity? And the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my Spirit to you; I will make known my words to you. Because I have called, but you refused; I have stretched out my hand, but no man cared; and you have disdained all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof.
Therefore, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes, when your fear comes as desolation, and your destruction comes as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish comes upon you. Then they shall call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but shall not find me, because they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of Jehovah. They wanted none of my counsel, and they despised all my reproof; therefore they shall eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. For the turning away of the naive shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.”
So, Calvinism fails badly on this point, because the theology restricts the types of election to only the first two, but not the third, which is clearly found in the Bible!
Unconditional Election Grade = 66% or a fat F!
L = Limited Atonement: Jesus died only for the elect, not for anyone else.
There are many texts in the Bible that contradict this teaching; here are two that leaves no doubt what God says about this matter:
2 Peter 3:9: “The Lord is not slow concerning the fulfillment of his promise (as some men count slackness); but is longsuffering toward us: not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
John 3:16-17: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have Everlasting Life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
1 John 2:1-2: "My little children, I write these things to you, so that you sin not; but if any man sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous. And he himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
Limited Atonement Grade = 0% true; fat F!
I = Irresistible Grace: The elect are saved by the irresistible grace of God and have no choice in the matter.
In my previous study, I explained that it is true that those whom God chose for his special purposes such as Abraham, David, John the Baptist, and Saul of Tarsus who became the Apostle Paul were definitely saved by the irresistible grace of God!
However, the number of people in the world who have been saved by this means are very few! The reason that God chooses a few by this means is that they were very important people in the history of Christianity or the faith of Jehovah under the Old Covenant; and God wanted to make certain that these special people fulfilled his purposes in their lives; but this does not describe most believers! There are countless millions of simple believers in Christ who never accomplish much for God in their lives; they may be as simple as someone who mows the lawn at the church or cleans the toilets! They will never preach a sermon in front of hundreds or thousands of people; only God knows their names and records their works for his future rewards.
The vast majority of believers are saved, because they obeyed the call of the Gospel and they repented of their sins and received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior by calling upon Him to save them!
Irresistible Grace Grade = 0% or F! It is partially true, but only of those whom God chose to salvation for his special purposes and their importance to his overall plan of Redemption in human history. The vast, vast majority of believers do not fit this category. So I must grade it as false, since TULIP assumes that all believers are saved the same way as Abraham and Saul of Tarsus, which is absurd.
P = Perseverance of the Saints
There are conflicting interpretations:
1) the saint will perservere in serving God until the end of their life;
2) Eternal Security (once saved, always saved).
If the correct interpretation is the Eternal Security of the believer (i.e. once saved, always saved), I give it a big, hearty Amen! This is true and found in many Bible texts. Here is one:
Ephesians 2:8: “For by grace you have been permanently saved through faith”
The phrase “you have been permanently saved” is based on a single word in the Koine Greek: σεσωσμενοι, which is the Perfect Passive Participle form of σῴζω.
Perfect Passive Participle means this: an action happened in the past, but not by the subject of the verb (in the case of this text, God did the action [saving the soul], not you or I); and the effect of that action goes on continually (like a perpetual motion machine) into the present and into the future without ever ending!
In other words, God saved me in the past (August 30, 1982) when I repented of my sins and received Jesus Christ as my personal Savior; but that wasn’t the end! The effect of that salvation in my soul continued into the future without ever ending, and never will end (Hallelujah Amen!).
The Perfect Passive Participle of σεσωσμενοιis illustrated perfectly by this text:
2 Corinthians 1:9-10: “but we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead;
1) who delivered us from so great a death, [Jesus saved me in the past from the penalty of sin in Hell, and He made me his child]
2) and delivers now; [Jesus saves me every moment of every day from the power of sin as I yield my mind, soul, and body to the power of the Holy Spirit]
3) in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us.” [Jesus will one day resurrect our bodies from the grave and give us a body like his immortal body, Amen!]
Perseverance of the Saints Grade = 100% (if the interpretation is Eternal Security).
However, the other interpretation is not correct, which either teaches or implies that a believer in Christ WILL continue serving God no matter what. This is categorically false, because countless millions of believers throughout history have FAILED to be faithful to God in their lives. Some fall away at the end of their lives; and others fall away early and never come back. Some believers get mad at God and refuse to repent, no matter how much they are chastised by God.
So that interpretation is graded 0% or F.
I wish it was true that all believers “persevered” in their faith in Christ; but it is not true at all.
So what is my grade of TULIP theology? [Less than 70% = F.]
Total Depravity = A, 100% correct.
Unconditional Election = 66% or a F!
Limited Atonement = 0% true; F!
Irresistible Grace = 1% or F!
Perseverance of the Saints = 100% (if the interpretation is Eternal Security). But it would be zero or an “F”, if the other interpretation is correct. So the average is 50% or F.
100 + 66 + 0 + 1 + 50 = 217/5 = 43.4%. This is a very dismal grade!
I give TULIP (which is Reformed Theology) a failing grade in Biblical Theology. It is unworthy of any church, Bible College, or Theological Seminary!
Why would anyone teach theology that is mostly false in their church, Bible college, or Seminary? Sadly, it is not only popular, but spreading and growing in many Bible believing churches.
Why does it continue to grow? Because most people are not equipped to understand the Bible well enough to counter it, even many pastors and Bible teachers! The purpose of these Bible studies is to equip YOU to be able to resist the attempts of Satan to spread this very bad theology among Bible believing churches and believers.
When you hear someone talk about these five points of Calvinism, now you have a better understanding of what they are and why the Bible does not agree with most of it.
I attended a Bible college and Seminary where TULIP was discouraged and taught against by the instructors; however, the explanations that I heard were not done well, in my opinion. The explanation I was given was this: Both election and free will are true; but they are like two rails of train tracks: they are parallel to each other and we can’t see where they come together.
In my view, this explanation falls short and does not provide enough Biblical information to counter Calvinism. We must understand that not only are both free will and election are true, we must be able to explain why that is true and show why Calvinism and TULIP are not Biblical theology.
The children of God need a clear and convincing explanation of the Bible so that they will understand the truth for themselves; otherwise, if a wolf comes along with a more convincing explanation, they will follow the wolf instead of the shepherd. This is the purpose of these studies, and I hope that I have succeeded, and that it was a blessing to you. Amen.

Y sabemos que cualquier cosa que dice la Ley, ello les dice a los que son bajos la Ley, para que cada boca puede estar cerrada, y todo el mundo puede llegar a ser culpable ante Dios; por tanto, por las obras de la Ley ninguna carne será justificada en su vista: porque por la Ley es el conocimiento del pecado.
Lo opuesto Pero ahora, la justicia de Dios aparte de la Ley se revela (siendo testificada por la Ley y los Profetas), aun la justicia de Dios cual es a través de la fe de Jesucristo hasta todos y sobre todos los que creen: porque no hay diferencia: porque todos han pecado, y se han quedado cortos de la gloria de Dios; siendo justificados gratuitamente por su gracia mediante la redención que es en Cristo Jesús; quien Dios ha exhibido públicamente, ser una propiciación a través de la fe en su sangre, declarar su justicia para la remisión de los pecados pasados, a través de la paciencia de Dios; para declarar, digo, en este tiempo su justicia; para que Dios sea justo, y el justificador de él quien cree en Jesús.
El complemento ¿Dónde está entonces la jactancia? Es excluyó. ¿Por cuál Ley? ¿De las obras? No, pero por la Ley de la fe; por lo tanto, concluimos que el hombre es justificado por la fe aparte de las obras de la Ley.
El complemento ¿Es él el Dios de los judíos solamente? ¿No es él también el Dios de los gentiles? Si, de los gentiles también: viendo que hay un solo Dios verdadero, quien justificará la circuncisión por la fe y la incircuncisión a través de la misma fe.

Comentarios: Ahora quiero basarme en los dos estudios anteriores en Romanos analizando en profundidad la doctrina TULIP del calvinismo.
Si se perdió esos dos estudios, le recomiendo que los revise primero antes de leer este estudio. No puedo repetir aquí todo lo que hay en esos estudios.
La teología reformada es un paquete completo de enseñanzas, no solo TULIP
La teología reformada surgió originalmente del protestantismo y la Reforma. Fue un intento de “reformar” las enseñanzas falsas del catolicismo romano para hacerlas más bíblicas; sin embargo, fracasó gravemente, ¡Porque no llegó hasta la Biblia! Los protestantes conservaron las doctrinas no bíblicas del bautismo infantil, la religión estatal y otras ropa para tumbas del catolicismo, como la Teología del Reemplazo (la “iglesia” ha reemplazado permanentemente a Israel y ha recibido todas sus promesas de Dios), cual es 100% falsa.
El bautismo infantil enseña que el agua puede lavar nuestros pecados, especialmente los de los bebés; ¡pero la Biblia enseña que sólo la sangre de Jesucristo puede hacer eso!
Hebreos 9:13-14: “Porque si la sangre de los toros y de las cabras, y las cenizas de una novilla espolvoreando a los contaminados, santifica para la purificación de la carne, ¿cuánto más la sangre de Cristo (quien a través del Espíritu Eterno se ofreció sin mancha hasta Dios) purgará vuestras conciencias desde las obras muertas para servir al Dios viviente?”.
Una religión estatal es cuando todos en una nación en particular (por ejemplo, el Reino Unido, Suecia, Alemania, Italia, Arabia Saudita, Irán, etc.) son miembros de una religión en particular (Islam, anglicanismo, presbiterianismo, luteranismo, etc.). Pero la Biblia enseña que cada congregación es independiente del estado y autónoma.
1 Corintios 12:27: “Ustedes [la iglesia en Corinto], pues, sois un cuerpo de Cristo, y miembros en particular..”
2 Corintios 1:23-24: “Pero yo invoco a Dios por testigo sobre mi alma, que por ser indulgente con ustedes no he pasado todavía a Corinto; no que tengamos dominio sobre vuestra fe, pero somos ayudadores de vuestro gozo: porque por la fe estáis firmes”.
¡Los bautistas necesitan recordar esto cuando se sienten tentados a adoptar la teología reformada en sus doctrinas! Todas esas doctrinas no bíblicas van de la mano con la teología TULIP.
Entonces, ¿qué significa “TULIP”? [El acrónimo se basa en palabras inglesas.]
T = Depravación Total: un pecador está totalmente depravado por el pecado y no puede conocer a Dios por nada dentro de sí mismo. Dios debe intervenir para que eso suceda.
U = Elección incondicional: Aquellos a quienes Dios elija para ser salvados SERÁN salvados y aquellos a quienes Dios elija para ser condenados serán condenados en el infierno para siempre.
L = Expiación limitada: Jesús murió sólo por los elegidos, no por nadie más.
I = Gracia irresistible: Los elegidos son salvados por la gracia irresistible de Dios y no tienen elección al respecto.
P = Perseverancia de los santos. Hay interpretaciones contradictorias:
1) el santo perseverará en el servicio de Dios hasta el final de su vida;
2) Seguridad Eterna (una vez salvado, salvado para siempre).
¡Ahora comparemos las doctrinas de TULIP con la Biblia!
T = Depravación Total: un pecador está totalmente depravado por el pecado y no puede conocer a Dios por nada dentro de sí mismo. Dios debe intervenir para que eso suceda.
Juan 6:44: “Nadie puede venir a mí, a menos que el Padre que me ha enviado le atrae; y yo lo resucitaré en el Día Postrero”.
Jesús dijo que la única manera de ser salvado era si su Padre lo atrajo a Cristo.
Juan 12:32: Jesús dijo, “Y yo, si fuere levantado desde la tierra, atraeré a todos los hombres hacia mí”.
Grado para Depravación Total = A, 100% correcto según la Biblia.
U = Elección incondicional: Aquellos a quienes Dios elija para ser salvados SERÁN salvados y aquellos a quienes Dios elija para ser condenados serán condenados en el infierno para siempre.
En el estudio anterior, expliqué que la Biblia contiene tres métodos de elección, no sólo dos.
1) Dios elige a algunos para la salvación, porque son figuras importantes en la historia del linaje mesiánico y en la historia bíblica: Adán, Noé, Sem, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, José el padrastro de Jesús y María la madre de la humanidad de Jesús, Juan Bautista. Sin la intervención directa de Dios y sin asegurarse de que cumplieran sus propósitos en sus vidas, es posible que no hubieran sido salvados; y por tanto, los propósitos de Dios habrían sido frustrados. Dios se aseguró de que esto no sucediera. Esta es una enseñanza bíblica.
Hechos 9:15-16: “Pero le dijo el Señor, “Sigue tu camino, porque él es un instrumento elegido para mí, para llevar mi nombre ante los gentiles, los reyes y los hijos de Israel: porque le mostraré a él las grandes cosas que debe sufrir por el bien de mi Nombre”.
2) Dios elige a algunos para el infierno (por ejemplo, Faraón [Romanos 9:16], Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot y muchos otros) para que sus propósitos en la historia se cumplan.
En el estudio anterior, expliqué que la traducción alternativa de Romanos 9:22 [mostrada aquí] muestra que Dios no ha elegido a nadie para el infierno. Ver la explicación en el estudio previo.
Romanos 9:19-24: “Entonces me dirás, “¿Por qué él todavía encuentra fallas? Porque ¿quién se ha resistido a su voluntad?”. No, pero, O hombre, ¿quién eres tú para contradecir a Dios? ¿Dirá el que se forma al que lo formó: “¿Por qué me has hecho así?”. ¿No tiene potestad el alfarero sobre el barro, de la misma masa para hacer uno vaso para honrar, y otro para deshonra? ¿Qué pasa si Dios, determinado a mostrar su ira, y a hacer notorio su poder, soportó con mucha paciencia los vasos de ira, habiendo preparado ellos mismos para la destrucción, para que él pudiere hacer conocido las riquezas de su gloria para con los vasos de misericordia que él preparó de antemano para gloria, incluso nosotros, a quien el ha llamado: no sólo de los judíos, sino también de los gentiles?”. (El Reino Estudio Biblia (REB))
3) Dios escogió para la salvación a muchos a quienes Él conocía de antemano (Él lo sabía de antemano) que responderían al Evangelio y serían salvados. MUCHOS son llamados a la salvación y PODRÍAN ser salvados, pero pocos son elegidos. Sólo fueron elegidos aquellos que Dios sabe que obedecerán el mandamiento del Evangelio de arrepentirse y creer en Jesucristo. Los demás en esta categoría rechazan la oportunidad de ser salvados o se niegan a creer en la Luz espiritual que tienen; y tristemente pasan a morir y son castigados en el Lago de Fuego por los siglos de los siglos, según sus obras. Desde nuestra perspectiva, este número podría aumentar si el Evangelio se predica a más pecadores; desde la perspectiva de Dios, la elección ya ocurrió desde el comienzo de la Creación.
Romanos 8:29-30: “para aquellos a quienes él conoció de antemano, también los predestinó a ser conformados a la imagen de su Hijo, para que él sea el primogénito entre muchos hermanos. Además, a los quien él predestinó, también él llamó a ellos; y los quien él llamó, también él justificó a ellos; y los quien justificó, también él glorificó a ellos”.
Mateo 20:16: “Así que los últimos serán los primeros, y los primeros los últimos, porque muchos son llamados, pero pocos son escogidos”.
Este texto es particularmente perjudicial para las pretensiones del calvinismo, porque si Dios llamó a “muchos”, pero sólo unos pocos son elegidos; y nadie puede ser salvado a menos que Dios las elijas: ¡Esto significa que el llamado de Dios a ser salvado es una promesa falsa para la mayoría! En otras palabras, con la “Elección Incondicional”, ¡el calvinismo está llamando mentiroso a Dios! Como si Dios dijera: “Sí, todos ustedes están llamados a venir a Cristo, pero no pueden ser salvados a menos que Yo los elija; y no te he elegido a ti, (lo siento)”. (como si fuera). ¡Este es un vil ataque a la integridad y verdad de Dios!
Dios dijo, “Cualquiera que llamará sobre el Nombre del Señor será salvado”. (Romanos 10:13), entonces es verdad! ¡No es una promesa falsa!
Pero si entendemos que Dios sabe de antemano quiénes serán salvados y elige a aquellos que responden a su llamado a ser salvados, entonces este texto tiene sentido:
Mateo 20:16: “Así que los últimos serán los primeros, y los primeros los últimos, porque muchos son llamados, pero pocos son escogidos”.
¡Aquellos que no vinieron, no vinieron por su propia voluntad, debido a la terquedad de sus propios corazones! Fueron llamados, y PODRÍAN HABER LLEGADO A SER SALVADOS, pero se negaron; y por lo tanto, no fueron elegidos por Dios.
Proverbios 1:20-32: “La sabiduría clama afuera: ella da su voz en las calles; ella clama en el lugar principal de la concurrencia, en las aberturas de las puertas de la ciudad, ella pronuncia sus palabras, diciendo, “¿Cuánto tiempo, ustedes ingenuos, amarán la ingenuidad? Y escarnecedores deleitarán en sus despreciando, y los necios odiarán el conocimiento? Volveos a mi reprensión. He aquí, os derramaré mi Espíritu; os daré a conocer mis palabras. Porque llamé, pero rechazasteis; yo he extendido mi mano, pero a nadie le importó; y desdeñasteis todo mi consejo, y no quisisteis ninguna de mis reprensión.
Por tanto, yo también reiré de vuestra calamidad; me burlaré cuando llega vuestro miedo; cuando llega vuestro como desolación, y vuestra destrucción viene como un torbellino; cuando os sobrevenga tribulación y angustia. Entonces me llamarán, y no responderé; me buscarán de mañana, y no me hallarán; porque aborrecieron el conocimiento, y no escogieron el temor de Jehová. No quisieron ninguno de mis consejos, y despreciaron todas mi reprensión; por tanto, comerán del fruto de su camino, y se llenarán con sus propios dispositivos. Porque el dar la espalda de los ingenuos los matará, y la prosperidad de los tontos los destruirá”.
Entonces, el calvinismo falla estrepitosamente en este punto, porque restringe los tipos de elección sólo a los dos primeros, pero no al tercero, ¡lo cual se encuentra claramente en la Biblia!
Grado para elección incondicional = 66% o ¡una F!
L = Expiación limitada: Jesús murió sólo por los elegidos, no por nadie más.
Hay muchos textos en la Biblia que contradicen esta enseñanza; Aquí hay dos que no dejan lugar a dudas de lo que Dios dice sobre este asunto:
2 Pedro 3:9: “El Señor no es lento en relación con el cumplimiento de su promesa (como algunos hombres consideran la lentitud); pero es paciente para con nosotros: no dispuesto a que cualquiera debería perecer, sino que todo debería venir al arrepentimiento”.
Juan 3:16-17: “Porque Dios amó tanto al mundo, que él dio a su Hijo unigénito, que cualquiera que cree en él no deberían perecer, sino tener Vida Eterna. Porque Dios no envió a su Hijo al mundo para condenar al mundo; pero que el mundo a través de él pueda salvarse”.
Grado para Expiación Limitada = 0% verdadero; F!
I = Gracia irresistible: Los elegidos son salvados por la gracia irresistible de Dios y no tienen elección al respecto.
En mi estudio anterior, expliqué que es cierto que aquellos a quienes Dios escogió para sus propósitos especiales como Abraham, David, Juan el Bautista y Saulo de Tarso (quien llegó a ser el apóstol Pablo) fueron definitivamente salvos por la gracia irresistible de Dios!
Sin embargo, ¡el número de personas en el mundo que han sido salvadas por este medio es muy poca! La razón por la que Dios escoge a unos pocos por este medio es que fueron personas muy importantes en la historia del cristianismo o de la fe de Jehová bajo el Antiguo Pacto; y Dios quería asegurarse de que estas personas especiales cumplieran los propósitos de él en sus vidas; ¡Pero esto no describe a la mayoría de los creyentes! Hay innumerables millones de simples creyentes en Cristo que nunca logran mucho para Dios en sus vidas; ¡pueden ser tan simples como alguien que corta el césped en la iglesia o limpia los baños! Nunca predicarán un sermón frente a cientos o miles de personas; sólo Dios conoce sus nombres y registra sus obras para sus recompensas futuras.
La gran mayoría de los creyentes se salvan, porque obedecieron el llamado del Evangelio; ¡Y se arrepintieron de sus pecados y recibieron a Jesucristo como su Salvador personal al invocarlo para que los salvara!
Grado para Irresistible Grace = 1% o F! Es parcialmente cierto, pero sólo de aquellos a quienes Dios eligió para salvación por los propósitos especiales de Dios y su importancia para su plan general de Redención en la historia humana. La inmensa mayoría de los creyentes no encajan en esta categoría. Entonces debo calificarlo como falso, ya que TULIP asume que todos los creyentes se salvan de la misma manera que Abraham y Saulo de Tarso, lo cual es absurdo.
P = Perseverancia de los santos. Hay interpretaciones contradictorias:
1) el santo perseverará en el servicio de Dios hasta el final de su vida;
2) Seguridad Eterna (una vez salvado, salvado para siempre).
Si la interpretación correcta es la Seguridad Eterna del creyente (es decir, una vez salvado, salvado para siempre), ¡doy a ello un gran y cordial Amén! Esto es cierto y se encuentra en muchos textos bíblicos. Acá hay uno:
Efesios 2:8: “Porque por gracia habéis sido salvado permanentemente por medio de la fe.”
La frase “has sido salvado permanentemente” se basa en una sola palabra del griego koiné: σεσωσμενοι, que es la forma del Participio Pasivo Perfecto de σῴζω.
Participio Pasivo Perfecto significa esto: una acción ocurrió en el pasado, pero no por el sujeto del verbo (en el caso de este texto, Dios hizo la acción [salvando el alma], no tú ni yo); ¡Y el efecto de esa acción continúa continuamente (como una máquina en movimiento perpetuo) en el presente y en el futuro sin terminar jamás!
En otras palabras, Dios me salvó en el pasado (30 de agosto de 1982) cuando me arrepentí de mis pecados y recibí a Jesucristo como mi Salvador personal; ¡pero ese no fue el final! El efecto de esa salvación en mi alma continuó en el futuro sin terminar jamás, y nunca terminará (¡Aleluya, Amén!).
El participio pasivo perfecto de σεσωσμενοιis está perfectamente ilustrado por este texto:
2 Corintios 1:9-10: “Pero tuvimos en nosotros mismos una sentencia de muerte, para que no confiásemos en nosotros mismos, sino en Dios que resucita a los muertos;
1) “quien nos libró desde tan gran muerte,” [Jesús me salvó en el pasado de la pena del pecado en el infierno y me hizo su hijo.]
2) “y libra ahora;” [Jesús me salva cada momento de cada día del poder del pecado mientras entrego mi mente, alma y cuerpo al poder del Espíritu Santo.]
3) “en quien confiamos que él todavía nos librará”. [Jesús un día resucitará nuestros cuerpos de la tumba y nos dará un cuerpo como su cuerpo inmortal, ¡Amén!]
se ilustra por Grado de Perseverancia de los Santos = 100% (si la interpretación es Seguridad Eterna).
Sin embargo, la otra interpretación ni es correcta, la cual enseña o implica que un creyente en Cristo continuará sirviendo a Dios pase lo que pase. Esto es categóricamente falso, porque incontables millones de creyentes a lo largo de la historia han FALLADO en ser fieles a Dios en sus vidas. Algunos desaparecen al final de sus vidas; y otros se alejan temprano y nunca regresan. Algunos creyentes se enojan con Dios y se niegan a arrepentirse, sin importar cuánto los castiguen por Dios.
Ojalá fuera cierto que todos los creyentes “perseveraron” en su fe en Cristo; pero no es cierto en absoluto.
Entonces, ¿cuál es mi grado para la teología TULIP? [Menos del 70% = F.]
Depravación total = A, 100% correcto.
Elección incondicional = 66% o F!
Expiación limitada = 0% verdadero; F!
Gracia irresistible = 1% o F!
Perseverancia de los santos = 100% (si la interpretación es Seguridad Eterna). Pero sería cero o una “F”, si la otra interpretación es correcta. Entonces el promedio es 50% o F.
100 + 66 + 0 + 1 + 50 = 217/5 = 43.4%. ¡Esta es un grado muy pobre para TULIP!
Le doy a TULIP (que es Teología Reformada) un grado reprobatoria en Teología Bíblica. ¡Es indigno de cualquier iglesia, colegio bíblico o seminario teológico!
¿Por qué alguien enseñaría teología que es mayoritariamente falsa en su iglesia, colegio bíblico o seminario? Lamentablemente, no sólo es popular, sino que se está difundiendo y creciendo en muchas iglesias que creen en la Biblia.
¿Por qué sigue creciendo? Porque la mayoría de las personas no están equipadas para entender la Biblia lo suficientemente bien como para contrarrestarla, ¡incluso muchos pastores y maestros de la Biblia! El propósito de estos estudios bíblicos es equiparlo a USTED para que pueda resistir los intentos de Satanás de difundir esta muy mala teología entre las iglesias y los creyentes que creen en la Biblia.
Cuando escuchas a alguien hablar sobre estos cinco puntos del calvinismo, ahora comprende mejor qué son y por qué la Biblia no está de acuerdo con la mayor parte de ellos.
Asistí a un colegio bíblico y seminario donde TULIP fue desalentado y criticado por los instructores; sin embargo, las explicaciones que escuché no fueron bien hechas, en mi opinión.La explicación que me dieron fue la siguiente: tanto la elección como el libre albedrío son verdaderos; pero son como dos raíles de vías de tren: son paralelos entre sí y no podemos ver dónde se unen.
En mi opinión, esta explicación se queda corta y no proporciona suficiente información bíblica para contrarrestar el calvinismo. Debemos entender que no sólo el libre albedrío y la elección son verdaderos, sino que debemos poder explicar por qué eso es cierto y mostrar por qué el calvinismo y TULIP no son teología bíblica.
Los hijos de Dios necesitan una explicación clara y convincente de la Biblia para que comprendan la verdad por sí mismos; de lo contrario, si llega un lobo con una explicación más convincente, seguirán al lobo en lugar del pastor. Espero que haya sido de bendición para ti. Amén.
