The discipline of Jehovah (Job), Chapter 1.1: Job was confused over his sudden calamity (1:1 - 11:20)
§Complement Introduction: Jehovah allowed Satan to destroy the health and wealth of Job to test his loyalty to Him (1:1 - 2:13)
¶Opposite Job was a wealthy and powerful Gentile who feared Jehovah and shunned evil (1:1 - 5)
¶Opposite Jehovah granted the request of Satan to test Job’s loyalty to Him, resulting in the loss of everything he had (1:6 - 2:13)
§Complement Body: Job laments his misfortune, and his friends accuse him of having sinned against God (3:1 - 8:22)

Introduction
Comments: This study will survey the remainder of Job Chapter 1.1. In my opinion, it would serve little purpose to examine this important document in the Bible paragraph by paragraph. Unless you are a very mature believer, this kind of study would be very hard to absorb.
What I will do is provide the golden ratio design for each chapter, and examine the most important texts. This will provide a good starting point for your own study of Job on your own time. But you need the golden ratio design to help you understand each chapter! If you use someone
else’s outline, it will only lead to confusion, believe me.
For example, here is an outline of Job provided by J. Vernon McGee, a famous Bible teacher. He was a Fundamentalist Bible teacher on the radio in the U.S. who believed the Bible, and loved the Lord Jesus with all of his heart. I listened to many of his Bible studies on the radio
when I was a young believer in Christ. I can’t agree with all of his teachings, but in general, he was correct more often than not. Dr. McGee is in Heaven today.
Judge for yourself which outline is more helpful and which one is not. This kind of outline is very typical of what you will hear from almost any Bible teacher who has ever published their outlines, in almost any part of the Bible.
If you aren’t using the Golden Ratio design of the Bible, you can’t possibly understand the Bible correctly: FACT!
I want to be clear that this study is not intended to show "Look how much smarter I am than the famous Bible teacher, Dr. McGee". Absolutely not! This is not about me at all! Instead, I am trying to show the importance and the power of the design of the Golden Ratio of the Bible.
God put the Golden Ratio design in the Bible: I did not! Therefore, if there is any good in this outline, it is from the Divine Author of the Holy Scriptures, and it didn't come from me; that is guaranteed. Amen. All of the praise, honor, and glory of the Golden Ratio design of the Bible belongs
to the Lord Jesus Christ alone. Amen.
First, the entire outline of Job according to the Golden Ratio design:

On the web page for this outline, Dr. McGee expands on each point, so there is more than just this outline. However, the additional information continues to build on the outline that is not correct.
Further on in his study, however, Dr. McGee explained a point that I absolutely agree with, in that there are three rounds of discussion between Job and his three friends. This is the same as Chapters 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 in the Golden Ratio design, which provides a great amount of
detail that Dr. McGee could not have known, since he died in 1988, and he never heard of the Golden Ratio design of the Bible.
I disagree with him on where the rounds begin and where they end, because the design of the Golden Ratio indicates a slightly different grouping. But in general, he had the right idea.
The biggest errors in his study are caused by his use of the traditional Bible chapter and verse system. But this was all that Dr. McGee had in his day! So he did the best he could with what he had; and that is fine. God doesn’t expect us to be perfect and know everything; but He
does expect us to do our best with what we have.
The Golden Ratio outline of this chapter tells you everything that you need to know about the meaning; and who is talking to whom, and the essence of what they said.
Now, let’s use the Golden Ratio outline and look at some samples of the Bible text in each paragraph to gain insight into this outline.
§Complement Body: Job laments his misfortune, and his friends accuse him of having sinned against God (3:1 - 8:22)
¶Unique Job lamented that he had ever been born (3:1 - 26)
Job 3:11-19: “Why did I not die from the womb? Why did I not give up the spirit when I came out of the belly? Why did the knees receive me? Or why the breasts that I should suck? For now, I would have lain still and been quiet; I would have slept, and then I would have been at rest,
with kings and counselors of the Earth, who built desolate places for themselves; or with princes that had gold, who filled their houses with silver; or as a hidden untimely birth, I would not have been: as infants which never saw light. There the wicked cease from troubling, and there the weary
are at rest. There the prisoners rest together: they cannot hear the voice of the oppressor. The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.”
¶Complement Eliphaz: Surely you have sinned and God is punishing you (4:1 - 5:7)
Job 4:5-11: “But now [disaster] has come upon you, and you faint; it touches you, and you are troubled. Is not this a sign of your fear, your confidence, your hope, and the uprightness of your ways? Please remember, who ever perished, being innocent? Or where were the righteous
cut off? Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity and sow wickedness, reap the same. By the blast of God, they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils, they are consumed. The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken. The old lion perishes
for lack of prey, and the stout lion’s whelps are scattered abroad.”
¶Complement Eliphaz: You should repent and get right with God (5:8 - 27)
Job 5:8-11: “I would seek unto God; and unto God would I commit my cause, who does great and unsearchable things, and marvelous things without number; who gives rain upon the Earth, and sends water upon the fields, to set up on high those that are low, so that those which mourn
may be exalted to safety.
¶Opposite Job: I wish God would just kill me and get it over with (6:1 - 7:27)
Job 6:8-9: “Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for! Even that it would please God to destroy me, that he would release his hand, and cut me off!”
¶Opposite Bildad: Job, you are a hypocrite (8:1 - 22)
Job 8:1-7: “Then Bildad the Shuhite answered, and said, “How long will you speak these things? And how long shall the words of your mouth be like a strong wind? “Does God pervert judgment? Or does the Almighty pervert justice? If your children have sinned against him, and he has
cast them away for their transgression; if you would seek to God earnestly, and make your supplication to the Almighty; if you were pure and upright, surely now he would awake for you, and make the habitation of your righteousness prosperous. Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end
should greatly increase.”
Job 8:13-14: “So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish, whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider’s web.”

Job 9:22-23: “This is one thing; therefore I said it, ‘He destroys both the blameless and the wicked.’ If the scourge slays suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent. 9:24The Earth is given into the hand of the wicked. He covers the faces of its judges; if not, where,
and who is he?”
¶Complement Zophar: God is so great that He knows sins in your life that you do not (11:1 - 20)
Job 11:7-12: “Can you by searching find out God? Can you find out the Almighty to perfection? 11:8It is as high as Heaven. What can you do? It is deeper than Hell. How can you know? Its measure is longer than the Earth, and broader than the sea. If he cuts off, and shuts up, or
gathers together, then who can hinder him? For he knows vain men; he also sees wickedness. Will he not then consider it? For vain man wishes to be wise, though man is born like a wild donkey’s colt.
Obviously, the three friends of Job were convinced that, even though Job was well known as a generous and righteous man, he must have sin in his life that caused God to punish him.
As we know, they were wrong!
The three friends of Job were wrong in the following ways:
1) They judged according to the appearance, and not according to the truth, which they did not know.
John 7:24: “Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”
2) They judged according to what they believed was true about every believer; but it was not true in the situation of Job.
Why do bad things happen to good people?
It’s a great question. You might think: I’m a born again Christian; I’m doing his will every day the best that I can. Would God really do to me what He did to Job?
The answer is that we don’t know what God will do, ever, unless it is already written in the Word of God, the Holy Bible!
But we do know that
1) God is always good!
1 John 4:16b: “God is love!”
2) God is always right!
Romans 3:3-4: “But what if some did not believe? Shall their unbelief nullify the faith of God? Certainly not; indeed, let God be true, but every man a liar! As it is written, “That you might be justified in your sayings, and might overcome when you are judged.”
3) God always wants what is best for us; and we don’t know what is best for us, so we have to trust the Lord Jesus as we serve Him with our lives, our money, and our families, that God will always bring good to pass in our lives over time, even if it looks evil right now.
Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good, to them that love God: to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
4) The three friends of Job were correct on one point, that God does chastise his children for their sins; and extreme poverty, sickness, and even death could be the result.
I John 5:16-17: “If any man sees his brother sin a sin which is not unto death: he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that do not sin unto death. There is a sin unto death; I do not say that he should pray for it. All unrighteousness is sin; and there is a sin not unto
death.”
They were wrong in believing that Job was guilty of some hidden sin; but they were correct that God does chastise his children:
1) For sins against God
2) For failure to obey his will:
Hebrews 12:5-13: “And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to children, “My son, despise not the discipline of [Jehovah], nor faint when you are rebuked by him: for whom [Jehovah] loves he disciplines, and scourges every son whom he receives.” If you endure
discipline, God deals with you as with sons: for what son is he whom the father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline, whereof all are partakers, then you are illegitimate, and not truly sons of God. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them
reverence. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live? For they truly disciplined us for a few days after their own pleasure; but he for our spiritual good, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now, no discipline seems to be joyful for the moment, but painful;
yet afterward, it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who experience it. Therefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; and make straight paths for your feet, so that the lame part cannot be dislocated; but rather can be healed.”
Psalm 39:7-11: “And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you. Deliver me from all my transgressions; make me not the reproach of the foolish. I was mute; I did not open my mouth, because you did it. Remove your stroke away from me; I am consumed by the blow of your hand.
When you correct man with rebukes for his iniquity, you make his beauty to consume away like a moth; surely every man is vanity. Selah.”
So if you are a born again believer in Jesus Christ, and you are suffering some terrible thing in your life (sickness, disease, or misfortune), then consider the possibility that you might be under the chastising hand of your Heavenly Father who is trying to get your attention! He
wants you to repent and get right with Him immediately! Amen.
And if you refuse to repent, then worse things are coming, my brother or sister in Christ! You cannot escape the judgement of your Heavenly Father!
HOW TO BE SAVED
Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life! No man comes to the Father, but through Him! Repent of your false religion and false god, and place all of your hope for Heaven and forgiveness from sin in the Finished Atonement of Jesus Christ on the cross 2,000 years ago! Jesus
calls you to come to Him, believe that He is the Son of God who died on the cross for all of your sins, and who rose up from the dead on the third day, victorious over sin, death, Hell, and the grave! Amen.
John 8:12: “Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the Light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of Life.”
Matthew 11:27-30: “All things are delivered to me by my Father; and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither does any man know the Father, except the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give
you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me: for I am meek and lowly in heart. And you shall find rest to your souls: for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
John 3:16-17: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have Everlasting Life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
Romans 10:8-13: “But what does it say? “The Word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart”; that is to say, the Word of faith (which we preach), that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead,
you shall be saved: for with the heart, man believes into righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made into salvation: for the Scripture says, “Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.” For there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile: for the same Lord over all is rich
unto all that call upon him: for it is written, “whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Here is a prayer that you can use to repent and receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior:
“Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against YOU. I am no good, and you are righteous! You are my only hope for salvation! I believe that you died on the cross for my sins, you were buried, and you rose again from the dead on the third day. I want you to come into my life and
be my Lord and Savior. Please come into my heart right now. Forgive me for all my sins, and save my soul. In the mighty Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen!”

Job 11:7-12: “¿Puedes encontrar a Dios buscando? ¿Puedes descubrir al Todopoderoso hasta la perfección? Es más alta que los Cielos. ¿Qué harás? Es más profunda que el Infierno. ¿Cómo puedes saber? Su dimensión es más extensa que la Tierra, y más ancha que el mar. Si él corta, o
aprisiona, o si congrega, ¿quién podrá contrarrestarle? Porque él conoce a los hombres vanos; ve asimismo la iniquidad, ¿y no hará caso? El hombre vano se hará entendido, aunque nazca como el pollino del asno montés”.
Obviamente, los tres amigos de Job estaban convencidos de que, aunque Job era conocido como un hombre generoso y justo, debía tener pecado en su vida que hiciera que Dios lo castigara.
Como sabemos, ¡se equivocaron!
Los tres amigos de Job se equivocaron en los siguientes aspectos:
1) Juzgaron según la apariencia, y no según la verdad, que no conocían.
Juan 7:24: “No juzguéis según la apariencia, pero juzgad justo juicio”.
2) Juzgaron según lo que creían que era verdad acerca de cada creyente; pero no era verdad en la situación de Job.
¿Por qué le suceden cosas malas a la gente buena?
Es una gran pregunta. Tal vez pienses: soy un cristiano nacido de nuevo; hago su voluntad todos los días lo mejor que puedo. ¿Realmente Dios me haría lo que le hizo a Job?
La respuesta es que no sabemos lo que Dios hará, nunca, a menos que ya esté escrito en la Palabra de Dios, ¡la Santa Biblia!
Pero sabemos que
1) ¡Dios es siempre bueno!
1 Juan 4:16b: “¡Dios es amor!”
2) ¡Dios siempre tiene la razón!
Romanos 3:3-4: “¿Pero, ¿y si algunos no creyeran? ¿Será la incredulidad de ellos anulará la fe de Dios? ¡Ciertamente no; de verdad, que Dios sea verdadero, pero todo hombre un mentiroso! Como está escrito, “Para que tú seáis justificados en tus dichos, y podrías superar cuando seas
juzgado”.
3) Dios siempre quiere lo mejor para nosotros; y no sabemos qué es lo mejor para nosotros, Así que tenemos que confiar en el Señor Jesús mientras le servimos con nuestras vidas, nuestro dinero y nuestras familias, que Dios siempre traerá cosas buenas a nuestras vidas a lo largo del
tiempo, incluso si ahora parecen malas.
Romanos 8:28: “Y sabemos que todas las cosas cooperan para bien, a los que aman a Dios: a los que son los llamados según su propósito”.
4) Los tres amigos de Job tenían razón en un punto: Dios castiga a sus hijos por sus pecados, y la pobreza extrema, la enfermedad e incluso la muerte podrían ser el resultado.
I Juan 5:16-17: “Si alguno ve a su hermano cometer pecado no hasta muerte: pedirá y él le dará vida por los que no pecan hasta la muerte. Hay pecado hasta la muerte; no digo que él deba rezar por ello. Toda injusticia es pecado; y hay un pecado que no es hasta la muerte”.
Se equivocaron al creer que Job era culpable de algún pecado oculto; pero tenían razón en que Dios sí castiga a sus hijos:
1) Por los pecados contra Dios:
2) Por no obedecer su voluntad:
Hebreos 12:5-13: “Y ustedes ha olvidado la exhortación que habla a ustedes como a niños: “Hijo mío, no desprecies la disciplina de [Jehová], ni desmayes cuando seas reprendido por él: porque quien [Jehová] ama, él disciplina; y él azota a todo hijo que recibe”. Si soportáis el castigo,
Dios os trata como con hijos: porque ¿qué hijo es aquel a quien el padre no castiga? Pero si seáis sin el castigo, del cual todos son hechos partícipes, entonces ustedes son ilegítimos, y no sois verdaderamente hijos de Dios. Además, hemos tenido padres de nuestra carne que nos corrigieron; y les
dimos reverencia. ¿No deberíamos, más bien, estar sujetos al Padre de los espíritus y vivir? Porque, verdaderamente, nos disciplinaron durante unos días después de su propio placer; pero él por nuestro bien espiritual, para que podamos ser partícipes de su santidad. Ahora, ninguna disciplina parece
ser gozosa por el momento, sino dolorosa; aún después, da fruto apacible de justicia a los que lo experimentan. Por lo tanto, levantad las manos que cuelgan bajo, y las rodillas débiles; y haced caminos rectos para vuestros pies, a fin de que la parte coja no se puede dislocar, sino que más bien
puede ser sanado”.
Salmo 39:7-11: “Y ahora, Señor, ¿qué esperaré? Mi esperanza está en ti. Líbrame de todas mis transgresiones; no me pongas por escarnio del insensato. Enmudecí, no abrí mi boca: porque tú lo hiciste. Quita de sobre mí tu plaga; Bajo los golpes de tu mano estoy consumido. Con castigos
sobre el pecado corriges al hombre, y haces consumirse como de polilla su grandeza: Ciertamente vanidad es todo hombre. Selah”.
Así que si eres un creyente nacido de nuevo en Jesucristo, y estás sufriendo alguna cosa terrible en tu vida (la enfermedad, la dolencia, o la desgracia), ¡entonces considera la posibilidad de que puedas estar bajo la mano castigadora de tu Padre Celestial que está tratando de llamar
tu atención! ¡Él quiere que te arrepientas y te reconcilies con Él inmediatamente! Amén.
Y si te niegas a arrepentirte, entonces vendrán cosas peores, hermano o hermana en Cristo. ¡No puedes escapar del juicio de tu Padre Celestial!
COMO SER SALVADO
Jesucristo es el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida. ¡Nadie llega al Padre sino por medio de Él! ¡Arrepiéntete de tu falsa religión y de tu falso dios, y pon toda tu esperanza de Cielo y de perdón de pecados en la Expiación Terminada de Jesucristo en la cruz hace 2.000 años! Jesús te llama
a que vengas a Él, a que creas que Él es el Hijo de Dios que murió en la cruz por todos tus pecados, y que resucitó de entre los muertos al tercer día, ¡victorioso sobre el pecado, la muerte, el infierno y la tumba! Amén.
Juan 8:12: “Y otra vez Jesús les habló, diciendo, ‘Soy la luz del mundo; el que me sigue, no andará en tinieblas, pero tendrá la Luz de la Vida’”.
Mateo 11:27-30: “Todas las cosas me son entregadas por mi Padre; y nadie conoce al Hijo, sino el Padre, ni nadie conoce al Padre, sino el Hijo, y aquel a quien el Hijo lo quisiere revelar. Venid a mí, todos ustedes que trabajan y están muy agobiados, y yo os daré descansar. Llevad
mi yugo sobre ustedes, y aprended de mí, porque soy manso y humilde de corazón; y hallaréis descanso para vuestras almas: porque mi yugo es fácil, y ligera es mi carga”.
Juan 3:16-17: “Porque Dios amó tanto al mundo, que él dio a su Hijo unigénito, que cualquiera que cree en él no deberían perecer, sino tener Vida Eterna. Porque Dios no envió a su Hijo al mundo para condenar al mundo; pero que a través de él, el mundo podría salvarse”.
Romanos 10:8-13: “Pero ¿qué dice? “La Palabra está cerca de ti, incluso en tu boca y en tu corazón”, es decir, la Palabra de fe (que predicamos), que si confesarás con tu boca al Señor Jesús, y creerás en tu corazón que Dios le levantó de los muertos, tú serás salvado: porque con
el corazón, el hombre cree para justicia, y con la boca, la confesión se hace para la salvación: porque la Escritura dice, “cualquiera que en él creyere, no será avergonzado”. Porque no hay diferencia entre el judio y el gentil: porque el mismo Señor sobre todo es rico a todos los que le invocan:
porque está escrito, “Cualquiera que llamará sobre el Nombre del Señor será salvado”.
Aquí hay una oración que puedes usar para arrepentirte y recibir a Jesucristo como tu Salvador personal:
“Señor Jesús, sé que he pecado contra TÚ. ¡No soy bueno y tú eres justo! Creo que moriste en la cruz por mis pecados, fuiste enterrado y resucitaste de entre los muertos al tercer día. Quiero que vengas a mi vida y seas mi Señor y Salvador. Por favor entra en mi corazón ahora mismo.
Perdóname por todos mis pecados y salva mi alma. En el poderoso Nombre de Jesús, oro, ¡Amén!”
