Romans, Chapter 2.5: The sanctification of believers through the Assembly of Jesus Christ (12:1 - 16:27)

Introduction

Divisions within a local church can be caused by many things. Paul commanded the Roman believers to separate from those who taught anything that contradicted his teachings:

Romans 16:17-18: “Now I exhort you, brethren: mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have now learned; and avoid them: for they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by smooth words and flattery, they deceive the hearts of the naive.”

This kind of division or separation is necessary to protect the faith of young believers within the local church from false teachers or heretics. We will discuss this text in another study.

On the other hand, there are some issues and controversies that are not worthy of division between believers. Paul listed two things in this part of Romans that have always been problems among believers in Christ:

1) Vegetarians vs meat eaters

2) Which day of the week should the church meet for worship?

Vegetarians vs meat eaters

One believer who is weak in their faith in Christ eats only vegetables (a vegetarian); another believer who is strong in his faith eats both meats and vegetables.

a) The weak believer judges the strong believer as a sinner, because he is eating things that the weak believer believes is a sin to eat or unhealthy, such as pork. This person is usually influenced by misinformation and false teachings about the Law of Moses.

The Law condemned the eating of pork and other kinds of meat, but also commanded the consumption of beef and lamb that was offered to Jehovah God (e.g. Leviticus 6:26). So if the weak believer is against the eating of all kinds of meat, because of the Law of Moses, he is misinformed, because under the Old Covenant, it was required for a worshiper of Jehovah to consume the meat of a bull or a lamb that was offered to Jehovah (e.g. everyone in Israel was commanded to eat the Passover lamb in Exodus 12:1-10).

Exodus 12:5-10: “Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year; you shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats, and you shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month. And the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening; and they shall take some of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, where they shall eat it. And they shall eat the flesh in that night (roasted with fire) and unleavened bread; and they shall eat it with bitter herbs. Eat none of it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted with fire: his head with his legs, and with its innards. And you shall let none of it remain until the morning, and that which remains of it until the morning you shall burn with fire.”

The Law of Moses also forbade eating pork and other types of meat; however, under the new covenant, the apostle Paul made it very clear that this was no longer a command from God:

1 Timothy 4:1-5: “Now the Holy Spirit speaks clearly, that in the Latter Times some shall depart from the Faith (giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of demons; speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their conscience seared with a hot iron): forbidding Pastors to marry; and commanding to abstain from meat, which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by them which believe and know the truth: for EVERY CREATURE OF GOD IS GOOD; AND NOTHING TO BE REFUSED (IF IT IS RECEIVED WITH THANKSGIVING), BECAUSE IT IS SANCTIFIED BY THE WORD OF GOD AND PRAYER.”

b) The strong believer despises and laughs at the weak believer, because he knows that it is not unbiblical to eat meat, whether that is pork, chicken, or beef.

So this can be a big cause for division among believers in a local church or among believers anywhere!

Which day of the week should the church meet for worship?

This issue is another big cause for division among believers! We hear false information about it all the time from followers of cults, such as the Seventh Day Adventists or the Worldwide Church of God.

They say, “If you worship Jesus on Sunday instead of Saturday (the Sabbath), then you are breaking the Law of Moses and sinning against God.”

Now, this kind of teaching shows that the person saying it is either a lost person who does not know the Lord Jesus as their Savior, or they are greatly misinformed about the relationship between the New Covenant and the Old Covenant.

Under the Old Covenant, all of the holy days and activities associated with the worship of Jehovah God required three main things (or pillars):

1) A priesthood of Aaron

2) Animal sacrifices

3) A Tabernacle or Temple of Jehovah to perform the animal sacrifices

1) If you don’t have a priesthood of Aaron, then you cannot celebrate the Sabbath day according to the Law of Moses, because a priest of Aaron is required to perform all animal sacrifices.

Numbers 28:9-10: “And on the Sabbath day, you shall offer two lambs of the first year without spot; and two tenths of an ephah of flour for a meal offering, mingled with oil, and its drink offering. This is the burnt offering of every Sabbath, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.”

2) Also, all of the Jewish Feast days such as Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), the Feast of Tabernacles, the Jubilee, the Day of Pentecost etc: all of these required the sacrifice of animals by a priest of Aaron.

Leviticus 23:33-38: “And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to Jehovah. On the first day shall be a holy assembly; you shall do no work of service in it. Seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to Jehovah; on the eighth day it shall be a holy assembly to you, and you shall offer an offering made by fire to Jehovah; it is a solemn assembly, and you shall do no work of service in it. These are the Feasts of Jehovah, which you shall proclaim to be holy assemblies, to offer an offering made by fire to Jehovah: a burnt offering, a meal offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, everything upon his day: beside the Sabbaths of Jehovah, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which you give to Jehovah.’’”

Under the New Covenant today, there are no priests of Aaron, because Jesus Christ has replaced the priesthood of Aaron with Himself; and Jesus also replaced all animal sacrifices with his own Final Atonement on the cross for all sins.

Hebrews 7:23-25: “And truly, they [the priests of Aaron] were many priests, because they were not allowed to continue by reason of death; but this Jesus, because he continues into the Ages, has an unchangeable Priesthood; therefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he always lives to make intercession for them.”

Hebrews 4:16: “Therefore, let us come boldly to the Throne of Grace, that we may obtain mercy; and find grace to help in time of need.”

3) The Tabernacle or Temple of Jehovah God where Jehovah dwelt in Person through the Shekinah glory:

Exodus 40:34-35: “Then a cloud covered the Tabernacle of the congregation, and the glory of Jehovah filled the Tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter into the Tabernacle of the congregation, because the cloud remained on it, and the glory of Jehovah filled the Tabernacle.”

1 Kings 8:10-11: “And it came to pass, when the priests had come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the House of Jehovah, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of Jehovah had filled the House of Jehovah.”

But under the New Covenant, none of those three things exist any longer!

The priesthood of Aaron was replaced permanently by the High Priesthood of Jesus Christ according to the order of Melchisedec! In fact, every believer in Jesus (men and women) is a priest of God, because each one of us can go directly to the throne of Jesus in prayer! He is our Mediator between God and man. I do not need a priest to talk to the Lord Jesus; and neither do you! Amen.

Hebrews 4:16: “Therefore, let us come boldly to the Throne of Grace, that we may obtain mercy; and find grace to help in time of need.”

The sacrifice of animals was replaced permanently by the Final Sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, never to be repeated again!

Hebrews 9:23-24: “Therefore, it was necessary that the copies of things in the heavens should be purified with these animal sacrifices; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ has not entered into the holy places which were made with hands, which are the copies of the true; but into Heaven itself: now to appear in the presence of God for us.”

The Tabernacle or Temple of Jehovah God was replaced permanently by Jesus Christ Himself, who is the living Tabernacle of Jehovah God in human flesh!

Hebrews 9:11-12: “But Christ, having come forth a High Priest of good things to come, through a greater and more perfect Tabernacle not made with hands (that is to say, not of this building); neither with the blood of goats and calves, but with his own blood he entered in once into the Holy Place, having already obtained Eternal Redemption for us.”

John 1:14: “And the Word became flesh, and Tabernacled among us; and we beheld his glory: the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

So, because these three pillars of the Old Covenant were made obsolete by Jesus Christ and replaced by Himself, the worship of God on the Sabbath is not Biblical under the New Covenant today! We can worship the Lord Jesus on ANY day of the week, although Sunday is the best and most convenient day for most believers to gather for worship, simply because it is a day that most people aren’t working their regular jobs; and also because it is the day that the Lord Jesus rose up from the dead, after the Sabbath!

There are no restrictions in the teachings of the Apostles on which day of the week to worship the Lord Jesus! NONE. If you want to worship on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday, that is fine! No problem.

In fact, Christians have often held evangelistic crusades in their churches or even arenas in the city to preach the Gospel and bring sinners to Jesus Christ for an entire week or even several weeks! This is not a sin nor a problem at all.

But if you claim that believers are sinning by not worshiping on Saturday (the Sabbath), then you are sinning against God by making this claim, because it is 100% false!

Do you see the problem? Misinformation about the Law of Moses has caused a lot of unnecessary division among believers! Do not listen to the cults of the Seventh Day Adventists or the Worldwide Church of God! And there are other splinter sects saying the same things. Avoid them!

Now that we have a proper understanding of the background, let’s look at the text briefly:

¶Complement Live and let live for Christ over issues of food and observance of a particular day of the week (Romans 14:1 - 21)

Unique Receive him that is weak in the Faith, but not to judge his opinions: for one believes that he may eat all things; and another, who is weak, eats only vegetables. Let not him that eats all things despise him that does not eat; and let not him who does not eat judge him that eats all things: for God has received him. Who are you that judges another man’s servant? To his own master, he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

Complement One man esteems one day above another; another esteems every day the same. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he that does not observe the day: to the Lord, he does not observe it. He that eats: eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he that does not eat: to the Lord, he does not eat, and gives God thanks. For none of us lives to himself, and no man dies to himself: for whether we live, we live to the Lord; and whether we die, we die to the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. For this purpose, Christ died, and rose, and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

Opposite Therefore, let us not judge one another anymore; but judge this rather: not to put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way. I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him that esteems anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. But if your brother is grieved with your food, you are no longer walking according to selfless love. Do not destroy him with your food, for whom Christ died. Therefore, do not allow your good to be spoken of as evil: for the Kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit: for he that serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God, and approved of men. Therefore, let us follow after the things which make for peace, and things by which one may strengthen another in the Lord.

Opposite Do not destroy the work of God over food; all things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eats with offense. It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor anything whereby your brother stumbles, or is offended, or is made weak.

Comments: The inspired teaching of the Apostle Paul on this issue is that both the weak and the strong believers are serving the Lord Jesus Christ (at least, that is the assumption that Paul made). Therefore (assuming that this is true), then the strong believer must be RECEIVE the weak believer as a fellow servant of Jesus Christ. Yes, there is disagreement over the issue of eating meat, but this is unimportant in the greater scheme of things. The cause of the Great Commission must be the focus of every believer in the church.

1 Corinthians 1:10-13: “Now I exhort you, brethren, by the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing; and that there be no divisions among you; but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by them of the family of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. Now this I say, that every one of you says, “I am of Paul”, and “I of Apollos”, and “I of Cephas”, and “I of Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?”

Now, there is always the possibility that a false believer has somehow been able to become a member of your church, and this is the reason that he or she is causing division in the Body of Christ (the assembly of believers). However, you must be very careful not to jump to any false conclusions, or you can do great harm to young believers.

Young believers, in general, are very naive: they want to believe that older, more mature believers are so close to God that they are almost angels. When you misjudge them and mistreat them, their naivette is destroyed, and they may run from God and stop serving Him, because the people that they trusted to lead them in the Way of the Lord, instead treated them like garbage. This can damage them and make them ineffective for Christ for many years. And that is a tragedy!

And the young believers in the Lord must beware that they do not judge their strong brother or sister in Christ. Mature, Biblically strong believers have experience with the Lord Jesus over a long period of time. They are certainly not perfect (only Jesus is perfect); but they have learned many things by experience of walking with Jesus Christ.

The new believer has not experienced a close walk with Jesus, and cannot have this knowledge immediately; so they must be patient and willing to learn from those who are more mature.

Again, there are always exceptions and this can be very confusing for young believers. They meet someone in the church who claims to be a Christian for many years; and yet, when their life is examined closely, it reveals that they are not what they claim to be; they are hypocrites; and this discontinuity between their claims and their life causes a great deal of harm to everyone in the church; but especially young believers.

Disputes over food, Paul wrote under inspiration of the Holy Spirit, were not important enough to justify separation and division in the Body of Christ (the local assembly). So, don’t destroy a brother if they happen to have a different opinion about food than you do. The cause of Jesus Christ to reach the world and the area near the church with the Gospel is too important to worry about such things.

I must also say that, concerning the issue over which day of the week to worship the Lord: this can be a highly contentious issue. It is better if the believer within the church can be taught the Word of God, and so he will grow in the Lord and the contention will cease. This is the path that Paul (inspired by God) says we should take.

But, in cases where this person is being influenced by outside parties (say, he is reading Seventh Day Adventist literature or he has a friend who is involved with this group), and he is not willing to listen to the Word of God on this matter, it may be best to remove him/her from the church as a member.

Matthew 18:15-18: “Moreover if your brother shall trespass against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he will hear you, then you have gained your brother. But if he will not hear you, then take with you one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the Assembly. But if he refuses to hear the Assembly, let him be to you as a heathen man and a tax collector. Truly I say to you, whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven; and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven.”

The reason is simple: a person who is preaching a doctrine that is contrary to the Word of God that the church is teaching (assuming that the church is in harmony with the Word) will become a distraction and a source of conflict within the church. It is best for all concerned that the person is removed from the membership, so that the church is preaching the Word of God with one voice in unity.

1 Corinthians 1:10: “Now I exhort you, brethren, by the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing; and that there be no divisions among you; but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”

Christians and alcohol

One final note about Christians that drink wine: I was once an alcoholic before I was born again 42 years ago. I learned the hard way that there is only one reason for drinking an alcoholic beverage: to get drunk! No one drinks wine "just for the taste"; or "to help their digestion"! In the days of the apostles, drinking wine to aid digestion might have been a good idea, because they didn't have anything else to help their acid reflux problems (1 Timothy 5:23). But today, we don't need to do that: we have many over the counter medicines available to deal with acid reflux and indigestion. So this excuse to drink wine doesn't work today!

Secondly, any form of alcohol is a snare that can easily destroy your life! Many sots started drinking with beer or wine, but soon moved to hard liquor. There are many people living under bridges or live on skid row, "who once just sipped a little wine with their spaghetti"! Do not believe the lie that drinking wine is harmless!

Proverbs 23:20-21: “Be not among winedrinkers, nor among gluttonous eaters of flesh: for the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty; and drowsiness shall clothe you with rags.”

Thirdly, drinking any form of alcohol will make your children think that you are a hypocrite; and it could lead them into a life of alcoholism! "We just have a bottle in the cupboard, but we don't go to bars." That's how I started drinking liquor! My parents had schnapps in the cupboard, and I stole some of it as a young boy. It wasn't long before I was drinking more and more, and I became an alcoholic. God had mercy on me and saved me, but I almost died from alcoholism.

Drinking alcohol is a bad testimony for Jesus Christ! No one will believe that you are a true follower of Jesus if you drink beer, wine, or liquor!

The best solution is to never drink any alcohol at all: no beer, no wine, no booze! If you are a child of God, walk as a child of God! You have the Holy Spirit within you; you don't need any evil "spirits" at all! Amen.

¶Complement We that are strong should bear the infirmities of the weak believers (Romans 14:22 - 15:7)

Unique Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he that does not condemn himself in that thing which he allows. And he that doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Complement So then, we that are strong should bear the infirmities of the weak believers, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good to edification: for even Christ did not please himself; but, as it is written, “The reproaches of them that reproached you fell on me.”

Complement For whatsoever was written before was written for our learning, so that, through patience and comfort of the Scriptures, we might have assurance.

Opposite Now, the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like-minded one toward another according to Christ Jesus, that with one mind and one mouth, you may glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Opposite Therefore, receive one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.

Comments: Christ did not please Himself, but did all things for the edification of the weak believers who followed Him.

We should not expect all believers to have the same level of maturity! This is not possible. So, when in the presence of weak believers, mature believers should refrain from doing or saying things that will easily offend them.

Ephesians 4:1-3: “I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, urge you that you walk worthy of the vocation in which you are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

But we must always speak the truth in love, no matter what!

Ephesians 4:14-16: “that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, who is the head, that is, Christ; from whom the whole body fitly joined together and knit together by that which every joint supplies, according to the effective working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body to the building up of itself in love.”

Be gentle with the lambs of God; but be fierce with the enemies of God!

Matthew 3:7-9: “But having seen many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said to them, “O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bring forth fruits suitable for repentance; and think not to say within yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father’: for I say to you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham.”

In all things, tactfulness, maturity, and wisdom are needed. Prayer and submission to the Lord is required to be able to do these things the right way.

Conclusion

Complement But why do you judge your strong brother? Or why do you despise your weak brother? For we shall all stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ: for it is written, “‘As I live,’ says [Jehovah], ‘every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.’” So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Therefore, let us not judge one another anymore; but judge this rather: not to put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.”

Keep your focus on Jesus Christ and the cause of the Gospel of Christ at all times! When I was saved in 1982 (42 years ago), the Lord led me to join a Baptist church in Virginia Beach that was Fundamentalist and Independent (i.e. not part of a denomination or convention).

I didn’t know anything about the Bible at that time, except that I had been born again: I was saved, and I knew it; but that’s about it. I was worried about joining a church, because I had bad memories about the Christians that I had known when I was growing up: many hypocrites and phonies! So I told the Lord, “Okay, I will join this church; but I’m just going to keep my eyes on you and your Word! I’m going to ignore everyone else except the pastor.”

So that’s what I did: I joined the church and began to get involved with the ministry little by little. For several years, I struggled with issues of keeping the Law of Moses; and I found myself judging other believers, because I thought that I was the one who was right with God and everyone else was sinning! Ha ha. It all seems ridiculous now, but being a new believer is hard, because you are in transition from the old way of thinking as a sinner to the new way of thinking that is based on the Word of God.

A great way to think about spiritual growth is to think about a seed that is planted in the ground. The seed cannot become a fully grown plant overnight! Most of the time, the plants that grow quickly are weeds, not plants that are useful and good, like wheat or a fruit tree.

So, the seed must endure the necessary process of sprouting, pushing its head above the soil and risking getting eaten by an animal; and eventually, over weeks and months (and sometimes even years) of struggle, the plant finally becomes fully grown and produces delicious fruit or seeds that can be eaten or sown again. The process of spiritual growth is no different.

The way to find peace is to keep your eyes on Jesus Christ at all times! And fill your mind and heart with the Word of God, the Holy Bible. Over time, God will guide you into the Way of peace and the knowledge of Him.

Don’t get involved in church power struggles! If the people in the church are doing these things, it’s time to find a church of people who truly want to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. The Gospel of Jesus must be the top priority of everything in your church. Amen.

Ephesians 5:15-21: “See then that you walk circumspectly; not as fools, but as wise; redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore be not unwise; but understanding what is the will of the Lord. And be not drunk with wine (in which is excess), but be continually filled with the Spirit: speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks always for all things to God and the Father in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ: submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.”

How to be saved

Exactly how and when were you born again?

I have learned by experience that those who refuse to answer do so because they have never been born again; they have no idea what it means, which is why they cannot answer.

If that is the case with you, then your eternal destination at this moment is Hell; and later, the Lake of Fire.

Thankfully, we can change our eternal destination to Heaven, if we repent of our sins and receive Jesus Christ as our personal Savior.

First, we must believe that Jesus is the Son of God; that He was crucified for our sins, that He was buried and that He rose again from the dead on the third day.

Romans 10:8-11: “But what does it say? “The Word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart”; that is to say, the Word of faith (which we preach), that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved: for with the heart, man believes into righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made into salvation: for the Scripture says, “Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.”

Then, we must repent of our sins and call on the Name of the Lord Jesus to save us.

Romans 10:12-13: “For there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him: for it is written, “whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”

John 1:12: “But as many as received him, to them gave he authority to become the children of God: even to them that believe on his Name”

When we do that, then we are instantly born again into the Kingdom of God.

Introducción

Las divisiones dentro de una iglesia local pueden ser causadas por muchas cosas. Pablo ordenó a los creyentes romanos que se separaran de aquellos que enseñaban cualquier cosa que contradijera sus enseñanzas:

Romanos 16:17-18: “Ahora os exhorto, hermanos: marcad a aquellos que causan divisiones y escándalos en contra de la doctrina que ustedes ahora ha aprendido; y evitad a ellos: porque los que son tales no sirven a nuestro Señor Jesucristo, sino al propio estómago de ellos; y con palabras suaves y lisonjas engañan el corazón de los ingenuos”.

Este tipo de división o separación es necesaria para proteger la fe de los creyentes jóvenes dentro de la iglesia local de los falsos maestros o herejes. Hablaremos de este texto en otro estudio.

Por otra parte, hay algunas cuestiones y controversias que no son dignas de división entre los creyentes. Pablo enumera dos cosas en esta parte de Romanos que siempre han sido problemas entre los creyentes en Cristo:

1) Vegetarianos versus consumidores de carne

2) ¿Qué día de la semana debe reunirse la iglesia para el culto?

Vegetarianos versus consumidores de carne

1) Un creyente que es débil en su fe en Cristo come sólo verduras (es vegetariano); otro creyente que es fuerte en su fe come tanto carnes como verduras.

a) El creyente débil juzga al creyente fuerte como pecador, porque está comiendo cosas que el creyente débil cree que es pecado comer o que no son saludables, como el cerdo. Esta persona suele estar influenciada por desinformación y falsas enseñanzas sobre la Ley de Moisés.

La Ley condenaba el consumo de carne de cerdo y otros tipos de carne, pero también ordenaba el consumo de carne de res y de cordero que se ofrecía a Jehová Dios (e.g. Levíticio 6:26). Así que si el creyente débil está en contra de comer todo tipo de carne, a causa de la Ley de Moisés, está mal informado, porque bajo el Antiguo Pacto, se requería que un adorador de Jehová consumiera la carne de un toro o un cordero que fuera ofrecido a Jehová (por ejemplo, a todos en Israel se les ordenó comer el cordero de Pascua en Éxodo). 12:1-10).

Éxodo 12:5-10: “Vuestro cordero será sin defecto, macho de un año; lo tomaréis de las ovejas o de las cabras. Y habéis de guardarlo hasta el día catorce de este mes; y lo inmolará toda la congregación del pueblo de Israel entre las dos tardes. Y tomarán de la sangre, y pondrán en los dos postes y en el dintel de las casas en que lo han de comer. Y aquella noche comerán la carne asada al fuego, y panes sin levadura; con hierbas amargas lo comerán. Ninguna cosa comeréis de él cruda, ni cocida en agua, sino asada al fuego; su cabeza con sus pies y sus intestinos. Ninguna cosa dejaréis de él hasta la mañana; y lo que habrá quedado hasta la mañana, habéis de quemarlo en el fuego”.

La Ley de Moisés también prohibía comer carne de cerdo y otros tipos de carne; sin embargo, bajo el nuevo pacto, el apóstol Pablo dejó muy claro que esto ya no era un mandato de Dios:

1 Timoteo 4:1-5: “Ahora el Espíritu Santo habla claramente, que en los últimos tiempos algunos se apartarán de la fe (dando oído a espíritus engañadores y a doctrinas de demonios; hablando mentiras con hipocresía, teniendo su conciencia cauterizada con un hierro candente): prohibiendo a los pastores del matrimonio; y mandando abstenerse desde carne, cual Dios creó ser recibido con acción de gracias por los que creen y conocen la verdad: porque TODA CRIATURA DE DIOS ES BUENA, Y NADA SER RECHAZADO (SI ES RECIBIDO CON ACCIÓN DE GRACIAS), PORQUE ES SANTIFICADO POR LA PALABRA DE DIOS Y LA ORACIÓN”.

b) El creyente fuerte desprecia y se ríe del creyente débil, porque sabe que no es antibíblico comer carne, ya sea de cerdo, pollo o res.

¡Así que esto puede ser una gran causa de división entre los creyentes de una iglesia local o entre los creyentes de cualquier lugar!

¿Qué día de la semana debe reunirse la iglesia para el culto?

Este tema es otra gran causa de división entre los creyentes. Todo el tiempo escuchamos información falsa sobre este tema de parte de seguidores de sectas, como los Adventistas del Séptimo Día o la Iglesia de Dios Universal.

“Si adoras a Jesús el domingo en lugar del Sábado, entonces estás quebrantando la Ley de Moisés y pecando contra Dios”.

Ahora bien, este tipo de enseñanza muestra que la persona que la dice es una persona perdida que no conoce al Señor Jesús como su Salvador, o bien está muy mal informada acerca de la relación entre el Nuevo Pacto y el Antiguo Pacto.

Bajo el Antiguo Pacto, todos los días santos y actividades asociadas con la adoración a Jehová Dios requerían tres cosas principales (o pilares):

1) Un sacerdocio de Aarón

2) Sacrificios de animales

3) Un tabernáculo o templo de Jehová para realizar los sacrificios de animales

1) 1) Si no tienes sacerdocio de Aarón, entonces no puedes celebrar el día de reposo según la Ley de Moisés, porque se requiere un sacerdote de Aarón para realizar todos los sacrificios de animales.

Números 28:9-10: “Y en el día del Sábado, ofrecerás dos corderos de un año sin defecto, y dos décimas de un efa de harina para ofrenda de cereal, amasada con aceite y su libación. Éste es el holocausto de cada sábado, además del holocausto continuo y de su libación”.

Además, todos los días festivos judíos como Yom Kippur (el Día de la Expiación), la Fiesta de los tabernáculos, el Jubileo, el Día de Pentecostés etc: Todo esto requería el sacrificio de animales por parte de sacerdote de Aarón.

Levíticio 23:33-38: “Y habló Jehová a Moisés, diciendo, ‘Habla a los hijos de Israel, y diles, ‘A los quince días de este mes séptimo será la Fiesta de los tabernáculos a Jehová por siete días. El primer día habrá santa convocación; ninguna obra de siervo haréis. Siete días ofreceréis ofrenda encendida a Jehová: el octavo día tendréis santa convocación, y ofreceréis ofrenda encendida a Jehová; es fiesta, ninguna obra de siervo haréis. Éstas son las Fiestas solemnes de Jehová, a las que convocaréis santas reuniones, para ofrecer ofrenda encendida a Jehová, holocausto y ofrenda, sacrificio y libaciones, cada cosa en su tiempo: además de los Sábados de Jehová, además de vuestros dones, además de todos vuestros votos, y además de todas vuestras ofrendas voluntarias que dais a Jehová’’”.

Bajo el Nuevo Pacto hoy, no hay sacerdotes de Aarón, porque Jesucristo ha reemplazado el sacerdocio de Aarón con Él mismo; y Jesús también reemplazó todos los sacrificios de animales con su propia Expiación Final en la cruz por todos los pecados.

Hebreos 7:23-25: “Y verdaderamente [los sacerdotes de Aarón, ellos eran muchos sacerdotes, porque no se les permitió continuar por causa de la muerte; pero este Jesús, porque continúa hasta las edades, tiene un sacerdocio inmutable; por lo tanto, él también puede salvarlos hasta el máximo los que vienen a Dios a través de él, al ver que siempre vive para hacer intercesión por ellos”.

Hebreos 4:16: “Por lo tanto, vengamos audazmente al Trono de la Gracia, que podamos obtener misericordia; y encontrar gracia para ayudar en tiempos de necesidad”.

2) El tabernáculo o templo de Jehová Dios donde Jehová moraba en Persona a través de la gloria de la Shekinah:

Éxodo 40:34-35: “Entonces una nube cubrió el tabernáculo de la congregación, y la gloria de Jehová llenó el tabernáculo. Y no podía Moisés entrar en el tabernáculo de la congregación: porque la nube estaba sobre él, y la gloria de Jehová llenó el tabernáculo”.

1 Reyes 8:10-11: “Y aconteció que cuando los sacerdotes salieron del santuario, la nube llenó la casa de Jehová. Y los sacerdotes no pudieron permanecer para ministrar por causa de la nube: porque la gloria de Jehová había llenado la casa de Jehová”.

¡Pero bajo el Nuevo Pacto, ninguna de esas tres cosas existe ya!

Hebreos 4:16: “Por lo tanto, vengamos audazmente al Trono de la Gracia, que podamos obtener misericordia; y encontrar gracia para ayudar en tiempos de necesidad”.

El sacrificio de animales fue reemplazado permanentemente por el Sacrificio Final de Jesucristo en la cruz, ¡para nunca más repetirse!

Hebreos 9:23-24: “Por lo tanto, era necesario que las copias de las cosas en los cielos deben ser purificadas con estos sacrificios animales; pero las cosas celestiales mismas con mejores sacrificios que éstos. Porque Cristo no ha entrado en los lugares santos que fueron hechos con manos, cuales son las copias de la verdad; sino en el mismo Cielo: ahora para presentarse en la presencia de Dios por nosotros”.

¡El tabernáculo o templo de Jehová Dios fue reemplazado permanentemente por Jesucristo mismo, quien es el tabernáculo viviente de Jehová Dios en carne humana!

Hebreos 9:11-12: “Pero Cristo, habiendo salido un sumo sacerdote de los bienes venideros, a través de un tabernáculo más grande y más perfecto no hecho con las manos, (es decir, no de este edificio); ni con la sangre de cabras y terneros, pero con su propia sangre él entró una vez en al Lugar Santo, habiendo obtenido ya Eterna Redención para nosotros”.

John 1:14: “Y el Verbo se hizo carne, y habitó entre nosotros; y vimos su gloria: la gloria como el Unigénito del Padre, lleno de gracia y de verdad”.

Así que, debido a que estos tres pilares del Antiguo Pacto fueron hechos obsoletos por Jesucristo y reemplazados por Él mismo, ¡la adoración a Dios en el día de reposo no es bíblica bajo el Nuevo Pacto hoy! Podemos adorar al Señor Jesús CUALQUIER día de la semana, aunque el domingo es el mejor y más conveniente día para que la mayoría de los creyentes se reúnan para adorar, simplemente porque es un día en el que la mayoría de las personas no están trabajando en sus trabajos habituales; y también porque es el día en que el Señor Jesús resucitó de entre los muertos, ¡después del sábado!

¡No hay restricciones en las enseñanzas de los Apóstoles sobre en qué día de la semana se debe adorar al Señor Jesús! NINGUNA. Si quieres celebrar tu culto el lunes, martes, miércoles, jueves, viernes, sábado o domingo, ¡está bien! No hay problema.

De hecho, los cristianos han organizado con frecuencia campañas evangelísticas en sus iglesias o incluso en estadios de la ciudad para predicar el Evangelio y llevar a los pecadores a Jesucristo durante una semana entera o incluso varias semanas. Esto no es un pecado ni un problema en absoluto.

Pero si usted afirma que los creyentes están pecando al no adorar sobre el sábado, entonces está pecando contra Dios al hacer esta afirmación, ¡porque es 100% falsa!

¿Ves el problema? ¡La desinformación sobre la Ley de Moisés ha causado mucha división innecesaria entre los creyentes! ¡No escuchen a las sectas de los Adventistas del Séptimo Día o de la Iglesia de Dios Universal! Y hay otras sectas escindidas que dicen lo mismo. ¡Evítenlas!

Ahora que tenemos una comprensión adecuada de los antecedentes, veamos brevemente el texto:

¶El complemento Vive y que otros vivan para Cristo sobre asuntos de comida y observancia de un día particular de la semana (Romanos 14:1 - 21)

Único Recibid al que es débil en la Fe, pero no para juzgar sus opiniones: porque uno cree que puede comer de todas las cosas; y otro, que es débil, solo come verduras. No dejes que el que come todas las cosas desprecie al que no come; y no dejes que el que no come juzgue al que come todas las cosas: porque Dios le ha recibido. ¿Quién eres tú que juzgas al siervo de otro? Para su propio amo, está en pie, o cae; y él se mantendrá en pie, porque poderoso es el Señor para hacer que se mantenga en pie.

El complemento Uno hombre considera un día superior a otro; otro considera cada día como lo mismo. Que cada uno esté plenamente persuadido en su propia mente. El que observa el día, lo observa hasta el Señor; y el que no observa el día: hasta el Señor, no lo observa. El que come: hacia el Señor él come: porque da gracias a Dios; y el que no come: hacia el Señor no come, y da gracias a Dios. Porque ninguno de nosotros vivamos hasta sí mismo, y ninguno muere hasta sí mismo: porque si vivimos, vivimos para el Señor; y si morimos, para el Señor morimos; por tanto, ya sea que vivamos o muramos, somos del Señor. Para este propósito, Cristo murió, resucitó y volvió a vivir, para que él sea Señor tanto de los muertos y los vivos.

El complemento Pero, ¿por qué juzgas a tu hermano fuerte? ¿O por qué desprecias a tu hermano débil? Porque todos compareceremos ante el tribunal de Cristo: porque escrito está, “‘Como vivo yo,’ dice [Jehová], ‘toda rodilla se doblará ante mí, y toda lengua confesará a Dios’”. Por lo que entonces, cada uno de nosotros dará cuenta de sí mismo a Dios.

Lo opuesto Por tanto, no nos juzguemos más unos a otros; pero juzguen esto más bien: ni poner un tropiezo u ocasión de caída en el camino de su hermano. Yo sé, y estoy persuadido por el Señor Jesús, que no hay nada inmundo en sí mismo; pero al que estima algo ser inmundo: para él, ello es inmundo. Pero si tu hermano se aflige a causa de tu comida, tu hermano es contristado, ya no caminas según el amor desinteresado. No le destruyas con tu comida, por quien Cristo murió. Por tanto, no permitas que se hable de tu bien como un mal: porque el reino de Dios no es comida ni bebida; sino justicia, y paz, y gozo en el Espíritu Santo: porque él que sirve a Cristo en estas cosas, es aceptable a Dios, y aprobado por los hombres. Por tanto, sigamos las cosas que contribuyen a la paz, y cosas por las cuales uno puede fortalecer al otro en el Señor.

Lo opuesto No destruyas la obra de Dios para la comida. En verdad todas las cosas son puras; pero es malo para el hombre que come con ofensa. Bueno es ni comer carne, ni beber vino, ni nada en que tu hermano tropiece, o se ofenda, o se debilite.

Comentarios: La enseñanza inspirada del apóstol Pablo sobre este tema es que tanto los creyentes débiles como los fuertes están sirviendo al Señor Jesucristo (al menos, esa es la suposición que hizo Pablo). Por lo tanto (asumiendo que esto es verdad), entonces el creyente fuerte debe RECIBIR al creyente débil como compañero de servicio de Jesucristo. Sí, hay desacuerdo sobre el tema de comer carne, pero esto no es importante en el esquema general de las cosas. La causa de la Gran Comisión debe ser el enfoque de cada creyente en la iglesia.

1 Corintios 1:10-13: “Os ruego, pues, hermanos, por el Nombre de nuestro Señor Jesús Cristo, que todos habléis una misma cosa, y que no haya entre ustedes divisiones, sino que seáis perfectamente unidos en una misma mente y en un mismo parecer. Porque me ha sido dicho de ustedes, hermanos míos, por los que son de la casa de Cloé, que hay entre ustedes contiendas. Ahora esto digo, que cada uno de ustedes dice: ‘Yo soy de Pablo’, y ‘Yo de Apolos’, y ‘Yo de Cefas’, y ‘Yo de Cristo’. ¿Está dividido Cristo? ¿Fue crucificado Pablo por ustedes? ¿O fuisteis bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?”.

Ahora bien, siempre existe la posibilidad de que falso creyente de alguna manera ha sido capaz convertirse en miembro de tu iglesia, y esta es la razón por la que él o ella está causando división en el Cuerpo de Cristo (la asamblea de creyentes). Sin embargo, debes tener mucho cuidado de no sacar conclusiones falsas, o puedes causar un gran daño a los creyentes jóvenes.

Los creyentes jóvenes, en general, son muy ingenuos: quieren creer que los creyentes mayores y más maduros están tan cerca de Dios que son casi ángeles. Cuando los juzgas mal y los maltratas, su ingenuidad se destruye y podrían huir de Dios y dejar de servirle, Porque las personas en las que confiaron para guiarlos en el Camino del Señor, en cambio, los trataron como basura. Esto puede dañarlos y hacerlos ineficaces para Cristo por muchos años. ¡Y esa es una tragedia!

Y los jóvenes creyentes en el Señor deben tener cuidado de no juzgar a su hermano o hermana fuerte en Cristo. Los creyentes maduros y bíblicamente fuertes tienen experiencia con el Señor Jesús durante un largo período de tiempo. Ciertamente no son perfectos (sólo Jesús es perfecto); pero han aprendido muchas cosas por la experiencia de caminar con Jesucristo.

El nuevo creyente no ha experimentado un caminar cercano con Jesús, y no puede tener este conocimiento inmediatamente; por eso deben ser pacientes y estar dispuestos a aprender de aquellos que son más maduros.

Nuevamente, siempre hay excepciones y esto puede ser muy confuso para los jóvenes creyentes. Se encuentran en la iglesia con alguien que dice ser cristiano desde hace muchos años; y, sin embargo, cuando se examina su vida de cerca, se revela que no es lo que dice ser; Son hipócritas; y esta discontinuidad entre sus afirmaciones y sus vidas causan mucho daño a todos en la iglesia; pero especialmente a los creyentes jóvenes.

Las disputas sobre la comida, escribió Pablo bajo la inspiración del Espíritu Santo, no eran lo suficientemente importantes como para justificar la separación y la división en el Cuerpo de Cristo (la asamblea local). Así que no destruyas a un hermano en Cristo si tiene una opinión diferente a la tuya sobre la comida. La causa de Jesucristo de alcanzar el mundo y el área cercana a la iglesia con el Evangelio es demasiado importante como para preocuparse por esas cosas.

También debo decir que, en cuanto al tema de qué día de la semana debemos adorar al Señor, este puede ser un tema muy polémico. Es mejor que al creyente dentro de la iglesia se le enseñe la Palabra de Dios, y así crecerá en el Señor y cesará la contienda. Éste es el camino que Pablo (inspirado por Dios) dice que debemos tomar.

Pero, en los casos en que esta persona se siendo influenciada por partes externas (por ejemplo, él está leyendo literatura Adventista del Séptimo Día o tiene un amigo que está involucrado con este grupo), y él no está dispuesto a escuchar la Palabra de Dios sobre este asunto, puede ser mejor sacarlo/la de la iglesia como miembro.

Mateo 18:15-18: ““Además, si tu hermano ha pecado contra ti, ve y dile su culpa entre tú y él solo; si él te escuchará, has ganado a tu hermano. Pero si él no te escuchará, entonces lleva contigo una o dos más, para que en la boca de dos o tres testigos cada palabra pueda ser establecida. Y si él se niega a escucharlos, dilo a la asamblea; pero si él se niega a escuchar a la asamblea, déjale ser para ti como un pagano y un recaudador de impuestos. Verdaderamente os digo: todo lo que atéis en la tierra, será atado en el Cielo; y todo lo que desatéis en la tierra, será desatado en el Cielo”.

La razón es sencilla: una persona que está predicando una doctrina que es contraria a la Palabra de Dios que la iglesia está enseñando (suponiendo que la iglesia está en armonía con la Palabra) se convertirá en una distracción y una fuente de conflicto dentro de la iglesia. Lo mejor para todos los interesados es que esa persona sea eliminada de la membresía, para que la iglesia pueda predicar la Palabra de Dios con una sola voz en unidad.

1 Corintios 1:10: “Os ruego, pues, hermanos, por el Nombre de nuestro Señor Jesús Cristo, que todos habléis una misma cosa, y que no haya entre ustedes divisiones, sino que seáis perfectamente unidos en una misma mente y en un mismo parecer”.

Cristianos y alcohol

Una nota final sobre los cristianos que beben vino: yo fui alcohólico antes de nacer de nuevo hace 42 años. Aprendí por las malas que sólo hay una razón para beber una bebida alcohólica: ¡emborracharse! ¡Nadie bebe vino "sólo por el sabor" o "para ayudar a la digestión"! En los días de los apóstoles, beber vino para ayudar a la digestión podría haber sido una buena idea, porque no tenían nada más para aliviar sus problemas de reflujo ácido (1 Timoteo 5:23). Pero hoy en día no es necesario hacerlo: tenemos muchos medicamentos de venta libre disponibles para tratar el reflujo ácido y la indigestión. ¡Así que esta excusa para beber vino ya no sirve!

En segundo lugar, cualquier forma de alcohol es una trampa que puede destruir fácilmente tu vida. Muchos borrachos empezaron a beber con cerveza o vino, pero pronto pasaron a los licores fuertes. Hay muchas gente que viven bajo los puentes o en barrios bajos, "que alguna vez sólo bebieron un poco de vino con sus espaguetis". ¡No creas la mentira que beber vino es inofensivo!

Proverbios 23:20-21: “No seas entre los bebedores de vino, ni entre los comedores glotones de carne: porque el borracho y el glotón caerán en a la pobreza; y la somnolencia vestirá a ti con harapos”.

En tercer lugar, beber cualquier forma de alcohol hará que tus hijos piensen que eres un hipócrita; ¡y podría llevarlos a una vida de alcoholismo! “Tenemos una botella en el armario, pero no vamos a bares”. ¡Así fue como empecé a beber licor! Mis padres tenían una botella de aguardiente en el armario y yo robé un poco cuando era niño. No pasó mucho tiempo hasta que empecé a beber cada vez más y me volví alcohólico. Dios tuvo misericordia de mí y me salvó, pero casi muero de alcoholismo.

¡Beber alcohol es un mal testimonio para Jesucristo! ¡Nadie creerá que eres un verdadero seguidor de Jesús si bebes cerveza, vino o licor!

La mejor solución es no beber nunca alcohol: ¡ni cerveza, ni vino, ni licor! Si eres hijo de Dios, ¡anda como hijo de Dios! Tienes al Espíritu Santo dentro de ti; ¡no necesitas ningún “espíritus” maligno en absoluto! Amén.

¶El complemento Nosotros que somos fuertes debemos apoyar las flaquezas de los creyentes débiles (14:22 - 15:7)

Único ¿Tienes fe? Tenlo para ti mismo delante de Dios. Bienaventurado el que no se condena a sí mismo en lo que permite. Y el que duda es condenado si come: porque no come de la fe: porque cualquier cosa que no es de fe es pecado.

El complemento Así que, nosotros que somos fuertes debemos apoyar las flaquezas de los creyentes débiles, y no agradarnos a nosotros mismos. Que cada uno de nosotros agrade a su prójimo por su bien para edificación: porque ni aun Cristo se agradó a sí mismo; pero, como está escrito: “Los reproches de los que te reprochaban cayeron sobre mí”.

El complemento Porque cualquier cosa que estaba escrito antes fue escrito para nuestro aprendizaje; para que, a través de la paciencia y la consolación de las Escrituras, podríamos tener seguridad.

Lo opuesto Ahora, el Dios de la paciencia y del consuelo os conceda ser con ideas afines uno hacia el otro según Cristo Jesús, para que con una mente y una boca, glorifiquéis a Dios, incluso el Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

Lo opuesto Por tanto, recibid unos a otros, como también Cristo nos recibió para gloria de Dios.

Comentarios: Cristo no se agradó a sí mismo, sino que hizo todas las cosas para la edificación de los creyentes débiles que le seguían.

¡No debemos esperar que todos los creyentes tengan el mismo nivel de madurez! Esto no es posible. Así pues, cuando estén en presencia de creyentes débiles, los creyentes maduros deben abstenerse de hacer o decir cosas que los ofendan fácilmente.

Efesios 4:1-3: “Yo pues, preso en el Señor, os ruego que andéis como es digno del llamamiento con que sois llamados; con toda humildad y mansedumbre, con paciencia soportándoos los unos a los otros en amor, solícitos en guardar la unidad del Espíritu en el vínculo de la paz”.

Pero siempre debemos decir la verdad en amor, ¡no importa lo que pase!

Efesios 4:14-16: “que ya no deberíamos ser niños, lanzado hacia adelante y hacia atrás, y llevado por todos lados con todo viento de doctrina, por el engaño de los hombres con astucia, mediante el cual acechan para engañar. Pero hablar la verdad en amor, que podemos crecer en él, que es la cabeza, esto es, Cristo; desde quien todo el cuerpo perfectamente unido por aquello que cada articulación aporta, según el funcionamiento eficaz en la medida de cada parte, hace que el cuerpo crezca para la edificación de sí mismo en amor”.

¡Sed mansos con los corderos de Dios, pero sed fieros con los enemigos de Dios!

Mateo 3:7-9: “Pero habiendo visto a muchos de los fariseos y saduceos venir a su bautismo, les dijo, ‘¡Generación de víboras! ¿Quién os ha advertido que huyas de la ira venidera? Por tanto, producid frutos adecuados para el arrepentimiento, y no penséis decir dentro de ustedes mismos, ‘Tenemos a Abraham como nuestro padre’: porque yo os digo, que Dios es capaz de estas piedras para criar hijos a Abraham’”.

En todas las cosas se necesita tacto, madurez y sabiduría. Se requiere oración y sumisión al Señor poder hacer estas cosas de la manera correcta.

Conclusión

¡Mantenga su enfoque en Jesucristo y en la causa del Evangelio de Cristo en todo momento! Cuando fui salvado en 1982 (hace 42 años), el Señor me guió a unirme a una iglesia bautista en Virginia Beach que era fundamentalista e independiente (es decir, no parte de una denominación o convención).

En ese tiempo yo no sabía nada acerca de la Biblia, excepto que había nacido de nuevo: era salvado y lo sabía; pero eso era todo. Me preocupaba unirme a una iglesia, porque tenía malos recuerdos de los cristianos que había conocido cuando era niño: ¡muchos hipócritas y farsantes! Entonces le dije al Señor: “Está bien, me uniré a esta iglesia, pero me concentraré únicamente en ti y en tu Palabra. Ignoraré a todos los demás, excepto al pastor”.

Así que eso fue lo que hice: me uní a la iglesia y comencé a involucrarme con el ministerio poco a poco. Durante varios años, luché con el tema de guardar la Ley de Moisés, y me encontré juzgando a otros creyentes, porque pensaba que yo era el que estaba bien con Dios y que todos los demás estaban pecando. ¡Ja, ja! Todo parece ridículo ahora, pero ser un nuevo creyente es difícil, porque estás en transición de la antigua forma de pensar como pecador a la nueva forma de pensar que se basa en la Palabra de Dios.

Una excelente manera de pensar en el crecimiento espiritual es pensar en una semilla que se planta en la tierra. ¡La semilla no puede convertirse en una planta completamente desarrollada de la noche a la mañana! La mayoría de las veces, las plantas que crecen rápidamente son malas hierbas, no plantas útiles y buenas, como el trigo o un árbol frutal.

Así, la semilla debe soportar el necesario proceso de brotar, sacando su cabeza por encima del suelo y arriesgándose a ser comida por un animal; y finalmente, después de semanas y meses (y a veces incluso años) de lucha, la planta finalmente alcanza su madurez completa y produce frutos o semillas deliciosas que se pueden comer o sembrar nuevamente. El proceso de crecimiento espiritual no es diferente.

¡El camino para encontrar la paz es mantener los ojos puestos en Jesucristo en todo momento! Y llena tu mente y tu corazón con la Palabra de Dios, la Santa Biblia. Con el tiempo, Dios te guiará dentro el Camino de la paz y el conocimiento de Él. ¡No te involucres en luchas de poder en una iglesia! Si las personas de la iglesia están haciendo estas cosas, es hora de encontrar una iglesia de personas que realmente quieran seguir al Señor Jesucristo. El evangelio de Jesús debe ser la máxima prioridad en tu iglesia. Amén.

Efesios 5:15-21: “Ved, entonces, que caminas cuidadosamente; no como tontos, sino como sabios, redimiendo el tiempo: porque los días son malos. Por tanto, no seáis insensatos, sino entendiendo cual es la voluntad del Señor. Y no emborrachéis con vino (en el que hay exceso), sino estad continuamente lleno del Espíritu; hablando a ustedes mismos en Salmos, himnos y canciones espirituales, cantando y haciendo melodía en su corazón al Señor; dando gracias siempre por todo a Dios y al Padre en el Nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo: 5:21sometiendo ustedes mismos uno al otro en el temor de Dios”.

Como Ser Salvado

¿Exactamente cómo y cuándo naciste de nuevo?

He aprendido por experiencia que aquellos que se niegan a responder lo hacen porque nunca han nacido de nuevo; no tienen idea de lo que significa, y por eso no pueden responder.

Si ese es tu caso, entonces tu destino eterno en este momento es el Infierno; y más tarde, el Lago de Fuego.

Afortunadamente, podemos cambiar nuestro destino eterno del Infierno al Cielo, si nos arrepentimos de nuestros pecados y recibimos a Jesucristo como nuestro Salvador personal.

Primero, debemos creer que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios; que fue crucificado por nuestros pecados, que fue sepultado y que resucitó de entre los muertos al tercer día.

Romanos 10:8-11: “Pero ¿qué dice? “La Palabra está cerca de ti, incluso en tu boca y en tu corazón”, es decir, la Palabra de fe (que predicamos), que si confesarás con tu boca al Señor Jesús, y creerás en tu corazón que Dios le levantó de los muertos, tú serás salvado: porque con el corazón, el hombre cree para justicia, y con la boca, la confesión se hace para la salvación: porque la Escritura dice, “cualquiera que en él creyere, no será avergonzado”.

Entonces, debemos arrepentirnos de nuestros pecados e invocar el Nombre del Señor Jesús para salvarnos.

Romanos 10:12-13: “Porque no hay diferencia entre el judio y el gentil: porque el mismo Señor sobre todo es rico a todos los que le invocan: porque está escrito, “Cualquiera que llamará sobre el Nombre del Señor será salvado”.

Juan 1:12: “Pero cuantos le recibieron, él les dio autoridad para convertirse los niños de Dios: incluso a aquellos quien creen sobre su Nombre”.

Cuando hacemos eso, entonces nacemos de nuevo instantáneamente en el Reino de Dios.

“Señor Jesús, sé que he pecado contra USTED. ¡No soy bueno y usted eres justo! Creo que moriste en la cruz por mis pecados, fuiste enterrado y resucitaste de entre los muertos al tercer día. Quiero que vengas a mi vida y seas mi Señor y Salvador. Por favor entra en mi corazón ahora mismo. Perdóname por todos mis pecados y salva mi alma. En el poderoso Nombre de Jesús, oro, ¡Amén!”
