Romans, Chapter 2.3: The daily sanctification of believers through the Holy Spirit (6:1 - 8:39)

§Unique Introduction: Yield your bodies in obedience to God to have victory over sin (6:1 - 23)

¶Opposite After salvation, yield your bodies to be baptized by immersion, to walk in the likeness of his resurrection (6:1 - 7)

Comments: In the previous study, I demonstrated from the Bible that infant baptism is not Biblical; and that water cannot wash away sin. However, there are two more passages that are often used by false teachers to claim support for infant baptism, so I want to be sure that these are explained, because many are deceived by false teachings about baptism: Acts 16:31-34 and I Corinthians 7:12 - 14.

We must understand what the Bible says about water baptism, because there is so much false teaching being made about it! The cause of the false teaching is typically a poor understanding of the Biblical meaning of water baptism and who should participate in it. This study will help many believers in this area.

Water Baptism: its Biblical mode and subjects

The Book of Acts, in particular, has many instances of the word “Baptism”. The problem that we have is that there are many definitions of “Baptism” being taught by a number of groups, so we must look at this term carefully to ensure that we are using the Biblical definition for “Baptism”.

For a much deeper examination of this subject, I highly recommend the book “Baptism: its mode and subjects” by Alexander Carson, 1850. He was a Protestant who became a Baptist after doing a thorough study of this subject in the Bible. You can find it on Amazon.com and also on Google Books. The only biblical way of water baptism is to immerse, dip, or immerse oneself in water

First of all, the Greek word for “Baptism” is “βάπτισμα”: it has only one meaning in both the Greek part of the Holy Bible, and in classical Greek literature: to dip, to dunk, or to plunge into. It NEVER means “to sprinkle”, or “to pour”. This is an absolute fact of the Koine Greek language; it is not a matter of interpretation.

So if you want to be a Bible-believing Christian, you must follow the Biblical teaching on this subject: the proper Biblical mode of Baptism is exactly what the original word means: to dip, to dunk, or to plunge into.

Matthew 3:16: “and Jesus, when he had been baptized [immersed], immediately went up out of the water.”

John 1:33 “And I did not know him; but he that sent me to baptize in water, the same said to me, ‘Upon whom you shall see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’”

This teaching about the proper mode of Baptism will help you to also understand the Biblical meaning of the Baptism IN the Spirit (not “with”). We will address that important topic in future studies.

If your church practices and teaches sprinkling or pouring as a mode of baptism, then your church is not following the Word of God; and that is disobedience to God; and God will never bless it. God can only bless his Word and its teachings.

Joshua 1:8: “This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it: for only then shall you make your way prosperous, and only then shall you have good success.”

1 Samuel 15:22-23: “And Samuel said, “Does Jehovah have as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen is better than the fat of rams: for rebellion is like the sin of witchcraft; and stubbornness is like iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the Word of Jehovah, he has also rejected you from being king.”

We must follow the Word of God in all matters of faith and practice, or we are no better than king Saul, who failed to obey the Word of God and lost his kingdom.

If a church creates its own teachings that are not based on what the Bible actually says, then those teachings are not of God, and have the potential for great harm, especially when it involves the doctrine of salvation.

So, the only Biblical mode of water baptism is to dip, to dunk into, or to plunge into. It never means to sprinkle or to pour.

The Biblical subjects for water baptism are only believers

Secondly, the biblical subject for baptism is a born-again Believer in Jesus Christ; that is to say, a person who has heard the Gospel, believed the Gospel, and repented of his/her sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior through prayer. These are called “disciples” in the Gospels.

Matthew 28:18-20a: “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority was given to me in Heaven and upon earth. Therefore go, and train disciples out of all nations; baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.”

Notice what Jesus said: “Go and train DISCIPLES..., baptizing THEM...teaching THEM.” A disciple is a learner or a student. An infant baby cannot learn the Gospel or be a student, so by the command of Jesus, an infant baby is not a proper subject for Baptism. When a child is able to learn the Gospel, and trust Christ as their Savior, then they may be baptized, but not before.

Mark 16:15-16: “And [Jesus] said to them, “Go into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature; he that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned.”

Again, according to the command of Jesus, the only person who may be baptized is “he that believes”, because believing comes before baptism, according to Christ. To reverse that order would be a sin against God and unbiblical.

Acts 16:31-34 does not teach the baptism of infants

Now, I want to make sure that I have adequately countered the false teachings about infant baptism, because they are found in tens of thousands of “churches” all over the world; and unless I cover them all, someone will stumble over the one Bible text that I didn’t mention.

There is not a single example of an infant or an unbeliever in Christ being baptized, anywhere in the Bible. Acts 16:31-34 is not an exception, although it is cited often as evidence of infant baptism in the Bible. Let’s see if that is true.

“And they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ; and you shall be saved, and your household.” And they spoke to him the Word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and he was immediately baptized, he and all his family. And when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them, and rejoiced, believing in God WITH ALL HIS HOUSEHOLD.” Acts 16:31-34

This text clearly says that they spoke the Word of the Lord to him and to his entire household (wife and children); and he believed in God, with all of his family! Therefore, none of his children were infants, who do not have the capacity to believe in anything except mom and dad. Would Paul speak the Word of God to a baby? Of course not!

Acts 16:34: “And when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his household.”

This text clearly shows that his entire household believed in God, so none of them were infants; hence, infant baptism is not supported by this passage. But there are many false teachers in many churches who will cite this passage as proof of infant baptism. So you should avoid any pastor or church that promotes this teaching. If they don’t understand something that is this simple and clear, there are surely many more errors that they are teaching as well.

I Corinthians 7:12 - 14 refers to ancestral demons, not to baptism

“But to the rest I speak (not the Lord): if any brother has a wife that does not believe, and she is pleased to dwell with him, let him not divorce her. And the woman who has an husband that does not believe, and if he is pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him: for the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children were unclean; but now they are holy.” I Corinthians 7:12 - 14

Finally, this passage from I Corinthians is often cited by Protestant churches as support for the false teaching of infant baptism, but if you look at the text, notice what it says:

“otherwise your children were unclean; but now they are holy”

1 Corinthians 7:12-14 is referring to spiritual cleanliness from demons, which needs some explanation. I’m going to provide the background for this doctrine and makes some applications; and then return to this point afterward.

When we are born into this world, we receive the demons of our ancestors! If they had many demons, then we are born with many demons; if few, then few; if none, then none.

Exodus 20:4-6: “You shall not make you any carved image, nor any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them: for I, Jehovah your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children until the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, and showing mercy to thousands of them that love me, and keep my Commandments.”

God commanded us to keep his commands for a very good reason: so that we would not become polluted with demons in our lives!

Luke 11:24-26: “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest. And finding none, he says, ‘I will return to my house whence I came out.’ And when he comes, he finds it swept and set in order. Then he goes, and takes to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first.”

Demonic infestation of sinners is universal! The only variation is the degree to which they were infested with demons at conception from their parents; and the amount and degree of sins that the sinners have engaged in since they passed the age of accountability.

The sins of our parents (grandparents, great-grandparents, etc) allowed demons to enter into them. When they had children, at least some of their demons were passed down to their children. If the parents had many demons because of many sins, then the children were born with many of those same demons, and the curse of their sins (the demons) was passed down to the children.

God allows those demons to pass down from parents to their children as punishment for the sins of their parents, because the demons that infest the children will cause great trouble for them.

“for I, Jehovah your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children until the third and fourth generation of them that hate me”

When born again Christians obey the Word of God, we prevent the demons from entering into us! Obedience to the Word of God is our protection from Satan and his demons.

Also, the precious Blood of Jesus Christ is our ultimate protection from Satan and his demons; however, if we are engaging in sin, we cannot claim the Blood of Jesus to protect us: we have knowingly decided to go into the realm of the devil to participate in his wickedness. God will not protect us in that situation; and He may even allow Satan to do us great harm (see Job 1:6 - 2:6)! Job was a special situation that requires much more discussion than I can do in this study.

It is primarily only when we sin and do things that are against the Word of God, the Holy Bible, that God allows demons into our life; and they come into us and dwell there in our body (if we are saved, then the demons cannot indwell us; but they will attack and afflict us). And from there, they work in our life to make us sin even more against God, so that even more demons will come into our body and dwell there; or attack us more.

When a sinner repents of their sins and receives Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, the demons are cast out! However, if we are still committing the same sins that caused the demons to come into us in the first place, they will have the right to return to us and cause us great trouble!

This is why the Bible teaches us to repent of all sins and get rid of anything that belongs to the devil!

Acts 19:18-20: “And many that believed came, and confessed, and showed their deeds. Many of them also who practiced witchcraft brought their books together, and burned them before all men; and they counted their price, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So the Word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.”

Deuteronomy 7:25-26: “You shall burn the carved images of their gods with fire. You shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it to you, lest you become snared in it: for it is an abomination to Jehovah your God. Neither shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you become a cursed thing like it. You shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly abhor it: for it is a cursed thing.”

Anything that belongs to Satan must be destroyed, or they will attract demons to you and cause you great trouble: statues of Hindu idols, images of Buddha, crucifixes, prayer beads, rock music, rap music, Islamic music, pornography, dirty books, dirty movies, evil games, and anything else that you know that does not honor the Lord Jesus Christ. Remove them from your life immediately, or you will never get rid of the demons in your life, no matter how much you pray and read the Bible!

Joshua 7:1-15: “But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the cursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the cursed thing; and the anger of Jehovah was kindled against the children of Israel. And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth-aven, on the east side of Bethel; and he spoke to them, saying, “Go up, and view the country.” And the men went up and viewed Ai. And they returned to Joshua, and said to him, “Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai. Do not make all the people to labor there: for they are few.” So there went up there of the people about three thousand men. And they fled before the men of Ai. And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty-six men: for they chased them from before the gate even to Shebarim, and smote them in the going down. Therefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

And Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the Ark of Jehovah until the evening, both he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust upon their heads. And Joshua said, “Alas, O Lord God, why have you at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? Would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side of Jordan! O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turns their backs before their enemies? For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall surround us, and cut off our name from the earth; and what will you do to your great Name?” And Jehovah said to Joshua, “Get up; why do you lay this way on your face? Israel has sinned; and they have also transgressed my Covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the cursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also; and they have put it even among their own belongings. Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were cursed; neither will I be with you anymore, unless you destroy the cursed thing from among you.

“Get up; sanctify the people, and say, ‘Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow: for thus says Jehovah God of Israel: ‘There is a cursed thing in the midst of you, O Israel. You cannot stand before your enemies, until you take away the cursed thing from among you.’’”

The same principle applies to us! We must take away the cursed things from among us, or the Lord Jesus will not be with us and protect us from our spiritual enemies: Satan and his demons. This is what it means to be sanctified or cleansed. Spiritual contamination happens when we hold onto the things of the devil or participate in the things of the devil.

2 Corinthians 6:14: “Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what part has he that believes with an infidel? And what agreement has the Temple of God with idols? For all of you are a Temple of the Living God; as God has said, “I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God; and they shall be my people.

Therefore come out from among them, and be separate,’ says the Lord; ‘and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father to you; and you shall be my sons and daughters,’ says the Lord Almighty.” Therefore having these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit; perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

Going back to the beginning of this section,

I Corinthians 7:14: “for the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children were unclean; but now they are holy.”

Paul taught here that the children of parents with at least one born again believer (wife or husband) would prevent the demons of their ancestors from infesting the children:

“but now they are holy”.

That only means that they were clean and empty of demons at conception: it does not mean that they are saved and will go to Heaven if they are past the age of accountability! No, because after the age of accountability (3-5 years old probably, only God knows when), the child will become a sinner and must be born again in order to be saved and go to Heaven when they die.

Romans 7:8-11: “But the sin nature, taking occasion by the Commandment, produced all kinds of evil desire in me. For apart from the Law, sin was dead: for [as an infant], I was alive once apart from the Law; but when the Commandment came, the sin nature revived, and I died [spiritually]. And the Commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death: for the sin nature, taking occasion by the Commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.”

So, I Corinthians 7:12 - 14 refers to ancestral demons, not to water baptism!

Spiritual warfare is poorly understood among most Christians

You might say, “Why haven’t I heard anything about ancestral demons before?” I’ll tell you why: spiritual warfare is a doctrine that is very poorly understood, even in the best churches. I have spent over 40 years studying spiritual warfare. I have read the testimonies of several well-known former witches and Satanists who are now born-again Christians. Believe me when I say that most pastors will never talk about things like ancestral demons, especially from the pulpit, because they are afraid of what people will think about them. They might study spiritual warfare in private; but they don’t talk about it to their church members, except perhaps in private to others who are strong in their faith.

That is unfortunate; but it is the reality. You must be well-grounded in the Word of God before you begin to study spiritual warfare theology; and you must study the testimonies of those who have been deep in the camp of the enemy, and who are now born again, so that you understand their experiences in the light of the Word of God. Someone has said to look at the Bible ten times, before you look at the kingdom of the devil one time! I think that is wise advice.

It is easy to become distracted into things that should not be the main focus of your ministry. But, we need to understand it, so that we might be equipped to fight back against the wiles of the devil; he and his demons are powerful and clever, and should not be underestimated. We can only prevail against them by literal interpretation of the Word of God and an unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his Finished Work on the cross, especially the precious Blood of Christ. We must stay very close to the Lord Jesus Christ and his Word.

Ephesians 6:10-13: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil: for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this Age, and against evil spirits in high places. Therefore take to you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day; and having done all, to stand.”

As for me, I am not afraid of what people think, because my ministry is supported by my secular career; so I do not fear losing any church members over preaching the truth of the Bible.

Conclusion

Infant baptism is a sinful, rebellious act in defiance of the clear teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ! Jesus never commanded anyone to baptize infants, only disciples! Do not sin against God and allow your babies to be baptized in any church. This is extremely serious, and will negatively affect your children for the rest of their lives.

If your pastor and church are not following the Scriptures on the doctrine of Baptism, then you need to find one that does! Independent, Fundamental Baptist churches (or “baptistic” churches like Bible Churches) are the only ones that are following the Scriptures in this matter.

Any church that is afraid to use the term “Baptist” in their name is probably a church that will not follow Believer’s Baptism according to the Scriptures. Some do, and some do not. Investigate the teachings of your church carefully to see if they are following the Scriptures. If not, move to one that does. Ask the Lord to guide you to a good, solid Bible-believing church.

And if there are no Fundamental, Independent Baptist churches in your area, start one immediately, and pray for God to send you a true man of God who will guide you into the Holy Scriptures in obedience to his Holy Spirit. Nothing is too hard for the Lord! Amen.

HOW TO BE SURE THAT YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED!

Are you truly born again? Make sure that you are, right now!

Do you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins? And that He was buried, and that Jesus rose up from the dead on the third day?

The Bible says that if we believe these things, we can be saved, if we repent of our sins and receive Jesus Christ as our personal Savior:

Romans 10:8-13: “But what does it say? “The Word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart”; that is to say, the Word of faith (which we preach), that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved: for with the heart, man believes into righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made into salvation: for the Scripture says, “Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.” For there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him: for it is written, “whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you are ready to be saved, then you can use the following prayer to repent and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against YOU. I am no good, and you are righteous! You are my only hope for salvation! I believe that you died on the cross for my sins, you were buried, and you rose again from the dead on the third day. I want you to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. Please come into my heart right now. Forgive me for all my sins, and save my soul. In the mighty Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen!”

Comentarios: En el estudio anterior, demostré con la Biblia que el bautismo infantil no es bíblico; y esa agua no puede lavar el pecado. Sin embargo, hay dos pasajes más que los falsos maestros suelen utilizar para reclamar apoyo al bautismo infantil, por eso quiero estar seguro que estos sean explicados, porque muchos son engañadas por falsas enseñanzas sobre el bautismo: Hechos 16:31-34 y I Corintios 7:12 - 14.

Si su iglesia practica y enseña la aspersión o el derramamiento como modo de bautismo, entonces su iglesia no está siguiendo la Palabra de Dios; y eso es desobediencia a Dios; y Dios nunca lo bendecirá. Dios sólo puede bendecir su Palabra y sus enseñanzas.

Joshua 1:8: “Este Libro de la Ley nunca se apartará de tu boca; sino meditaréis en ella día y noche, para que observéis hacer conforme a todo lo que está escrito en ella: porque sólo entonces harás que tu camino sea próspero, y sólo entonces tendréis buen éxito”.

1 Samuel 15:22-23: “Y Samuel dijo, “¿Jehová tiene tanto deleite en los holocaustos y sacrificios, como en obedecer la voz de Jehová? He aquí, obedecer es mejor que los sacrificios, y escuchar es mejor que la grasa de los carneros: porque la rebelión es como el pecado de la brujería; y la terquedad es como la iniquidad y la idolatría. Por cuanto has rechazado la Palabra de Jehová, él también te ha rechazado a ti de ser rey.”

Debemos seguir la Palabra de Dios en todos los asuntos de fe y práctica, o no seremos mejores que el rey Saúl, quien no obedeció la Palabra de Dios y perdió su reino.

Si una iglesia crea sus propias enseñanzas que no se basan en lo que realmente dice la Biblia, entonces esas enseñanzas no son de Dios y tienen el potencial de causar un gran daño, especialmente cuando se trata de la doctrina de la salvación.

Entonces, el único modo bíblico del bautismo en agua es sumergir, mojarse completamente o sumergirse en. Nunca significa espolvorear o verter.

Los sujetos bíblicos para el bautismo en agua son sólo creyentes

En segundo lugar, el tema bíblico del bautismo es un creyente nacido de nuevo en Jesucristo; es decir, una persona que escuchó el Evangelio, creyó en el Evangelio, se arrepintió de sus pecados y aceptó a Jesucristo como su Salvador personal a través de la oración. A estos se los llama “discípulos” en los evangelios.

Mateo 28:18-20a: “Y Jesús vino y les habló, diciendo, “Toda autoridad me ha sido dado en el Cielo y sobre la tierra. Por tanto, id y entrenad discípulos fuera de todas las naciones, bautizándoles en el Nombre del Padre, y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo; enseñándoles observar todas las cosas, cualquier cosa que os he mandado”.

Note lo que dijo Jesús: “Id y entrenad DISCÍPULOS..., bautizándolos... enseñándoles.” Un discípulo es un aprendiz o un estudiante. Un bebé no puede aprender el Evangelio ni ser estudiante, por lo que, por mandato de Jesús, un bebé no es un sujeto apropiado para el bautismo. Cuando un niño puede aprender el Evangelio y confiar en Cristo como su Salvador, entonces ellos pueden ser bautizados, pero no antes.

Marcos 16:15-16: “Y [Jesús] les dijo, “Id dentro todo el mundo y predicad el Evangelio a toda criatura. Él que crea y sea bautizado será salvado; pero él que no creyere, será condenado”.

Nuevamente, según el mandato de Jesús, el único que puede ser bautizado es “el que cree”, porque creer es anterior al bautismo, según Cristo.Revertir ese orden sería un pecado contra Dios y no bíblico.

Hechos 16:31-34 no enseña el bautismo de niños

Ahora quiero asegurarme de haber contrarrestado adecuadamente las falsas enseñanzas sobre el bautismo infantil, porque se encuentran en decenas de miles de “iglesias” en todo el mundo; y a menos que los cubra todos, alguien tropezará con el único texto bíblico que no mencioné.

Ni hay un solo ejemplo de un infante o un incrédulo en Cristo siendo bautizado, en ningún lugar de la Biblia. Hechos 16:31-34 no es una excepción, aunque se cita a menudo como evidencia del bautismo infantil en la Biblia. Veamos si eso es cierto.

Hechos 16:31-34: “Y dijeron, “Cree en el Señor Jesús Cristo, y serás salvado tú; y tu casa”. Y le hablaron la Palabra del Señor, y a todos los que estaban en su casa. Y él, tomándolos en aquella misma hora de la noche, les lavó las heridas; y enseguida fue bautizado: él y toda su familia. Y llevándolos a su casa, puso comida delante de ellos; y se regocijó, creyendo en Dios con toda su familia.”

Hechos 16:31-34 dice claramente que hablaron la Palabra del Señor a él y a toda su casa (esposa e hijos); ¡Y él creyó en Dios, con toda su familia! Por lo tanto, ninguno de sus hijos fueron infantes, que no tienen la capacidad de creer en nada excepto en mamá y papá. ¿Le hablaría Pablo la Palabra de Dios a un bebé? ¡Por supuesto que no!

Hechos 16:34: “Y llevándolos a su casa, puso comida delante de ellos; y se regocijó, creyendo en Dios con toda su familia.”

Este texto muestra claramente que toda su casa creía en Dios, por lo que ninguno de ellos era infante; por lo tanto, este pasaje no respalda el bautismo de niños. Pero hay muchos falsos maestros en muchas iglesias que citarán este pasaje como prueba del bautismo infantil. Por lo que debes evitar cualquier pastor o iglesia que promueva esta enseñanza. Si no entienden algo así de simple y claro, seguramente hay muchos más errores que ellos están enseñando también.

I Corintios 7:12 - 14 se refiere a los demonios de nuestros antepasados, no al bautismo

“Pero a los demás yo digo, no el Señor: si algún hermano tiene esposa no creyente en Cristo, y ella consiente en habitar con él, no la despida. Y la mujer que tiene marido no creyente, y él consiente en habitar con ella, no lo deje: porque el marido no creyente es santificado en la esposa, y la esposa no creyente en el marido; pues de otra manera vuestros hijos serían inmundos; pero ahora son santos”. I Corintios 7:12 - 14

Finalmente, las iglesias protestantes suelen citar este pasaje de 1 Corintios como apoyo a la falsa enseñanza del bautismo infantil, pero si miras el texto, observa lo que dice:

“pues de otra manera vuestros hijos serían inmundos; pero ahora son santos”.

1 Corintios 7:12-14 se refiere a la pureza espiritual desde los demonios, lo cual necesita alguna explicación. Voy a proporcionar los antecedentes de esta doctrina y hacer algunas aplicaciones; y luego volveré a este punto.

¡Cuando nacemos en este mundo, recibimos los demonios de nuestros antepasados! Si ellos tenían muchos demonios, entonces nacemos con muchos demonios; si pocos, entonces pocos; si ninguno, entonces ninguno.

Éxodo 20:4-6: “Tú ni debe hacer para ti ninguna imagen tallada, ni ninguna semejanza de nada que esté arriba en el cielo, o que esté abajo en la tierra, o que esté en el agua debajo de la tierra; no te inclinarás a ellos, ni los servirás: porque yo, Jehová tu Dios, soy un Dios celoso, visitando la maldad de los padres sobre los hijos hasta la tercera y cuarta generación de los que me aborrecen, y mostrando misericordia a miles de ellos que me aman y guardan mis Mandamientos”.

Dios nos ordenó guardar sus mandamientos por una muy buena razón: ¡para que nosotros no quedaríamos contaminados con demonios en nuestras vidas!

Lucas 11:24-26: “Cuando el espíritu inmundo ha salido de un hombre, él camina por lugares secos, buscando descanso; y, al no encontrar ninguno, dice: “Volveré a mi casa desde donde salí”. Y cuando él llega, lo encuentra barrido y puesto en orden. Luego se va, y se lleva a sí mismo otros siete espíritus más malvados que él mismo; y entran y habitan allí; y el último estado de ese hombre es peor que el primero”.

¡La infestación demoníaca de los pecadores es universal! La única variación es el grado que fueron infestados de demonios en el momento de la concepción por parte de sus padres; y la cantidad y grado de pecados que los pecadores han cometido desde que pasaron la edad de responsabilidad.

Los pecados de nuestros padres (abuelos, bisabuelos, etc) permitieron que los demonios entraran en ellos. Cuando tuvieron hijos, al menos algunos de sus demonios pasaron a sus hijos. Si los padres tenían muchos demonios debido a muchos pecados, entonces los hijos nacieron con muchos de esos mismos demonios, y la maldición de sus pecados (los demonios) pasó a los hijos.

“porque yo, Jehová tu Dios, soy un Dios celoso, visitando la maldad de los padres sobre los hijos hasta la tercera y cuarta generación de los que me aborrecen”

os permite que esos demonios pasen de padres a hijos como castigo por los pecados de sus padres, porque los demonios que infestan a los hijos les causarán grandes problemas.

Cuando los cristianos nacidos de nuevo obedecemos la Palabra de Dios, ¡impedimos que los demonios entren en nosotros! La obediencia a la Palabra de Dios es nuestra protección contra Satanás y sus demonios.

Además, la preciosa Sangre de Jesucristo es nuestra máxima protección contra Satanás y sus demonios; sin embargo, si estamos pecando, no podemos reclamar la Sangre de Jesús para protegernos: hemos decidido a sabiendas entrar en el reino del diablo para participar de su maldad. Dios no nos protegerá en esa situación; y él puede permitir que Satanás nos haga un gran daño (ve Job 1:6 - 2:6)! Job era una situación especial que requiere mucha más discusión de la que puedo hacer en este estudio.

Es principalmente sólo cuando pecamos y hacemos cosas que van en contra de la Palabra de Dios, la Santa Biblia, que Dios permite que los demonios entren en nuestra vida; y entran en nosotros y habitan allí en nuestro cuerpo (si somos salvados, entonces los demonios no pueden morar en nosotros; pero nos atacarán y afligirán). Y a partir de ahí, obran en nuestra vida para hacernos pecar aún más contra Dios, para que entren aún más demonios a nuestro cuerpo y habiten allí; o atacarnos más.

Cuando un pecador se arrepiente de sus pecados y recibe a Jesucristo como su Salvador personal, ¡los demonios son expulsados! Sin embargo, si todavía cometemos los mismos pecados que causaron que los demonios entraran en nosotros, ¡tendrán derecho a regresar a nosotros y causarnos grandes problemas!

¡Es por eso que la Biblia nos enseña a arrepentirnos de todos los pecados y deshacernos de todo lo que pertenece al diablo!

Hechos 19:18-20: “Y muchos de los que habían creído venían, confesando y dando cuenta de sus hechos. Asimismo muchos de los que habían practicado la magia, trajeron sus libros, y los quemaron delante de todos; y contando el precio de ellos, se halló ser cincuenta mil piezas de plata. Así crecía poderosamente la Palabra del Señor, y prevalecía”.

Deuteronomio 7:25-26: “Quemarás con fuego las imágenes talladas de sus dioses. No codiciarás la plata ni el oro que hay sobre ellos, ni te lo llevarás, para que no seas enredado en él, porque es abominación a Jehová vuestro Dios. Ni traerás una abominación dentro tu casa, para que no seas anatema como ello. Lo detestarás completamente, y completamente lo aborrecerás, porque es cosa maldita”.

Todo lo que pertenece a Satanás debe ser destruido, o atraerán demonios hacia vosotros y os causarán grandes problemas: estatuas de ídolos hindúes o de cualquier otro tipo, imágenes de Buda, crucifijos, rosarios, música rock, música rap, música islámica, pornografía, libros sucios, películas sucias, juegos malvados, y cualquier otra cosa que sepas que no honra al Señor Jesucristo. Elimínelos de su vida inmediatamente, o nunca podrá deshacerse de los demonios en su vida, ¡no importa cuánto ore y lea la Biblia!

Josué 7:1-15: “Pero los hijos de Israel cometieron prevaricación en el anatema: porque Acán, hijo de Carmi, hijo de Zabdi, hijo de Zera, de la tribu de Judá, tomó del anatema; y la ira de Jehová se encendió contra los hijos de Israel. Y Josué envió hombres desde Jericó a Hai, que estaba junto a Betaven hacia el oriente de Betel; y les habló diciendo, “Subid, y reconoced la tierra”. Y ellos subieron, y reconocieron a Hai. Y volviendo a Josué, le dijeron, “No suba todo el pueblo, pero suban como dos mil o como tres mil hombres, y tomarán a Hai; no fatigues a todo el pueblo allí: porque son pocos”. Y subieron allá del pueblo como tres mil hombres, los cuales huyeron delante de los de Hai. Y los de Hai hirieron de ellos como treinta y seis hombres, y los siguieron desde la puerta hasta Sebarim, y los rompieron en la bajada; por lo que se disolvió el corazón del pueblo, y vino a ser como agua.

Entonces Josué rompió sus vestiduras, y se postró en tierra sobre su rostro delante del arca de Jehová hasta la tarde, él y los ancianos de Israel; y echaron polvo sobre sus cabezas. Y Josué dijo, “¡Ah, Señor Jehová! ¿Por qué hiciste pasar a este pueblo el Jordán, para entregarnos en las manos de los amorreos y que nos destruyan? ¡Mejor nos hubiéramos quedado al otro lado del Jordán! ¡Ay Señor! ¿Qué diré, ya que Israel ha vuelto la espalda delante de sus enemigos? Porque los cananeos y todos los moradores de la tierra oirán, y nos cercarán, y raerán nuestro nombre de sobre la tierra; entonces ¿qué harás tú a tu grande Nombre?”. Y Jehová dijo a Josué, “Levántate; ¿por qué te postras así sobre tu rostro? Israel ha pecado, y aun han quebrantado mi Pacto que yo les había mandado; pues aun han tomado del algo maldito, y hasta han hurtado, y también han mentido, y aun lo han guardado entre sus enseres. Por esto los hijos de Israel no podrán estar delante de sus enemigos, sino que delante de sus enemigos volverán la espalda; por cuanto han venido a ser anatema. Ya no seré más con ustedes, al menos que destruyáis el algo maldito desde en medio de ustedes.

“Levántate, santifica al pueblo, y di, ‘Santificaos para mañana: porque Jehová el Dios de Israel dice así, ‘Hay algo maldito en medio de ti, oh Israel; no podrás estar delante de tus enemigos, hasta tanto que hayáis quitado el algo maldito desde entre ustedes’”.

¡El mismo principio se aplica a nosotros! Debemos quitar las cosas malditas de entre nosotros, o el Señor Jesús no estará con nosotros y nos protegerá de nuestros enemigos espirituales: Satanás y sus demonios. Esto es lo que significa ser santificado o limpiado. La contaminación espiritual ocurre cuando nos aferramos a las cosas del diablo o participamos en las cosas del diablo.

2 Corintios 6:14: “No os unid en yugo desigual con los incrédulos: porque ¿qué compañerismo tiene la justicia con la injusticia? ¿Y qué comunión la luz con las tinieblas? ¿Y qué concordia Cristo con Belial? ¿O qué parte el creyente con el incrédulo? ¿Y qué acuerdo tiene el Templo de Dios con los ídolos? Porque todos ustedes son un Templo del Dios Vivo; como dios ha dicho, “Habitaré en ellos y caminaré en ellos; y yo seré su Dios; y ellos serán mi pueblo”.

“‘Por lo tanto, salid desde entre ellos, y sed separada,’ dice el Señor, ‘y no toquéis la cosa inmunda; y yo os recibiré, y seré Padre a ustedes, y ustedes me seréis hijos e hijas,’ dice el Señor Todopoderoso”. Por lo tanto, amados, teniendo tales promesas, limpiémonos desde toda inmundicia de la carne y del espíritu, perfeccionando la santidad en el temor de Dios”.

Volviendo al principio de esta sección,

I Corintios 7:14: “porque el marido no creyente es santificado en la esposa, y la esposa no creyente en el marido; pues de otra manera vuestros hijos serían inmundos; pero ahora son santos”.

Pablo enseñó aquí que los hijos de padres con al menos un creyente nacido de nuevo (esposa o esposo) evitarían que los demonios de sus antepasados infestaran a los niños:

“pero ahora son santos”.

Eso sólo significa que estaban limpios y libres de demonios en el momento de la concepción: ¡No significa que sean salvados e irán al cielo si han pasado la edad de responsabilidad! No, porque después de la edad de responsabilidad (probablemente de 3 a 5 años, solo Dios sabe cuándo), el niño se convertirá en pecador y deberá nacer de nuevo para ser salvo e ir al Cielo cuando muera.

Romanos 7:8-11: “Pero la naturaleza pecaminosa, tomando ocasión por el Mandamiento, produjo en mí toda clase de malos deseos. Porque aparte desde la Ley, el pecado estaba muerto: Porque como un infante, yo estaba vivo una vez aparte de la Ley, pero cuando vino el mandamiento, la naturaleza pecaminosa revivió, y yo morí espiritualmente. Y el Mandamiento, cual fue ordenado para vida, descubrí que era hasta la muerte: porque el pecado, tomando ocasión por el Mandamiento, me engañó, y por él me mató”.

Entonces, I Corintios 7:12 - 14 se refiere a demonios ancestrales, ¡no al bautismo en agua!

La guerra espiritual no estar bien entendida entre la mayoría de los cristianos

Podrías decir: “¿Por qué no he oído nada antes sobre los demonios antepasados?” Te diré por qué: la guerra espiritual es una doctrina que se comprende muy mal, incluso en las mejores iglesias. He pasado más de 40 años estudiando la guerra espiritual. He leído los testimonios de varias ex brujas y satanistas conocidas que ahora son cristianos nacidos de nuevo. Créanme cuando digo que la mayoría de los pastores nunca hablarán de cosas como demonios ancestrales, especialmente desde el púlpito, porque tienen miedo de lo que la gente pensará de ellos. Podrían estudiar la guerra espiritual en privado; pero no hablan de ello con los miembros de su iglesia, excepto quizás en privado con otras personas que son fuertes en su fe.

Eso es desafortunado; pero es la realidad.Debes estar bien fundamentado en la Palabra de Dios antes de comenzar a estudiar teología de la guerra espiritual; y debes estudiar los testimonios de aquellos que han estado en lo profundo del campamento del enemigo, y que ahora han nacido de nuevo, para que comprendas sus experiencias a la luz de la Palabra de Dios. ¡Alguien ha dicho que miremos la Biblia diez veces, antes de mirar el reino del diablo una vez! Creo que es un sabio consejo.

Es fácil distraerse con cosas que no deberían ser el foco principal de su ministerio. Pero debemos entenderlo para poder estar equipados para luchar contra las artimañas del diablo; él y sus demonios son poderosos e inteligentes y no deben ser subestimados. Sólo podemos prevalecer contra ellos mediante la interpretación literal de la Palabra de Dios y una fe inquebrantable en el Señor Jesucristo y su obra consumada en la cruz, especialmente la preciosa Sangre de Cristo. Debemos permanecer muy cerca del Señor Jesucristo y su Palabra.

Efesios 6:10-13: “Finalmente, hermanos míos, sé fuerte en el Señor, y en la fuerza de su poder. Vestíos de toda la armadura de Dios para que podáis permanecer firmes a pesar de las artimañas del diablo: porque no luchamos contra la carne y la sangre, sino contra los principados, contra los poderes, contra los gobernantes de las tinieblas de esta Edad, y contra los espíritus malignos en los lugares altos. Por tanto, tomad a ustedes toda la armadura de Dios, que ustedes pueden ser capaz de soportar en el día malo; y habiendo hecho todo, estar de pie”.

En cuanto a mí, no tengo miedo de lo que la gente piense, porque mi ministerio está respaldado por mi carrera secular; así que no temo perder ningún miembro de la iglesia por predicar la verdad de la Biblia.

Conclusión

¡El bautismo infantil es un acto pecaminoso y rebelde que desafía la clara enseñanza del Señor Jesucristo! ¡Jesús nunca ordenó a nadie que bautizara a los niños, sólo a los discípulos! No peques contra Dios y permite que tus bebés sean bautizados en cualquier iglesia. Esto es extremadamente grave y afectará negativamente a sus hijos por el resto de sus vidas.

Si su pastor y su iglesia no siguen las Escrituras sobre la doctrina del bautismo, ¡entonces necesita encontrar uno que lo haga! Las iglesias bautistas fundamentales independientes (o iglesias “baptistic” como las iglesias bíblicas) son las únicas que siguen las Escrituras en este asunto.

Cualquier iglesia que tenga miedo de usar el término “Bautista” en su nombre es probablemente una iglesia que no seguirá el bautismo de los creyentes de acuerdo con las Escrituras. Algunos lo hacen y otros no. Investigue cuidadosamente las enseñanzas de su iglesia para ver si siguen las Escrituras. Si no, pasa a uno que sí lo haga. Pídele al Señor que te guíe a una iglesia buena y sólida que crea a la Biblia.

Y si no hay iglesias bautistas independientes y fundamentales en su área, comience una inmediatamente, y ora para que Dios te envíe un verdadero hombre de Dios que te guíe dentro las Sagradas Escrituras en obediencia a su Espíritu Santo. ¡Nada es demasiado difícil para el Señor! Amén.

¡CÓMO ESTAR SEGURO DE QUE HAS SIDO SALVADO!

¿Realmente has nacido de nuevo? ¡Asegúrate de estarlo ahora mismo!

¿Crees que Jesucristo murió en la cruz por tus pecados? ¿Y que fue sepultado y que Jesús resucitó de entre los muertos al tercer día?

La Biblia dice que si creemos estas cosas, podemos ser salvados, si nos arrepentimos de nuestros pecados y recibimos a Jesucristo como nuestro Salvador personal:

Romanos 10:8-13: “Pero ¿qué dice? “La Palabra está cerca de ti, incluso en tu boca y en tu corazón”, es decir, la Palabra de fe (que predicamos), que si confesarás con tu boca al Señor Jesús, y creerás en tu corazón que Dios le levantó de los muertos, tú serás salvado: porque con el corazón, el hombre cree para justicia, y con la boca, la confesión se hace para la salvación: porque la Escritura dice, “cualquiera que en él creyere, no será avergonzado”. Porque no hay diferencia entre el judio y el gentil: porque el mismo Señor sobre todo es rico a todos los que le invocan: porque [está escrito], “Cualquiera que llamará sobre el Nombre del Señor será salvado”.

Si estás listo para ser salvado, entonces puedes usar la siguiente oración para arrepentirte y recibir al Señor Jesucristo como tu Salvador personal:

“Señor Jesús, sé que he pecado contra USTED. ¡No soy bueno y usted eres justo! Creo que moriste en la cruz por mis pecados, fuiste enterrado y resucitaste de entre los muertos al tercer día.
