Romans, Chapter 2.3: The daily sanctification of believers through the Holy Spirit (6:1 - 8:39)

§Unique Introduction: Yield your bodies in obedience to God to have victory over sin (6:1 - 23)

¶Opposite After salvation, yield your bodies to be baptized by immersion, to walk in the likeness of his resurrection (6:1 - 7)

¶Opposite After baptism, yield your bodies to God every day to have continued victory over sin (6:8 - 23)

§Complement Body: The Holy Spirit of God delivers the Believer from sin and guarantees his ultimate redemption (7:1 - 8:23)

¶Opposite Believers are married to Jesus Christ and divorced from the Law of Moses, so that we might bring forth fruit unto God (7:1 - 6)

¶Opposite Bring your thoughts into captivity to Jesus Christ to be victorious over temptation (7:7 - 25)

¶Complement The Holy Spirit of God brings life and peace to the Believer who walks in obedience to Him instead of the flesh (8:1 - 9a)

The Doctrine of Eternal Security, explained from the Bible

Comments: Let’s briefly review where we came from, and make some very important applications.

In Chapter 2.2, the Apostle Paul explained that Justification was at least four different things (there are more than four, but not essential to the Letter to the Romans):

1) Imputation: God credits (or imputes) to the believer his own righteousness in response to our faith in the Finished Work of Christ on the cross

2) Declaration: God declares the sinner who believes in Jesus Christ to be righteous in his sight (our new standing or position with God)

3) Propitiation: Jesus Christ was a propitiation for the sins of all mankind on the cross

4) Redemption: The sinner is redeemed from the slave market of sin by the Finished Work of Christ

In other words, once a sinner has repented and received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, then they are SAVED; they cannot become LOST ever again! Amen.

And yet there are a number of sects that teach that a sinner can be saved by repentance and faith in Jesus; but then, if they sin “too much”, they can be lost again: Free Will Baptists, Pentecostals, and Charismatics are the main teachers of this false doctrine.

ALL of my sins were paid for by Christ on the cross, without exception

But clearly, they do not understand the teaching of the Bible on this subject! If Jesus paid for ALL of my sins on the cross 2,000 years ago, and I have repented and and believed in the Finished Work of Christ for my sins; and I received the free gift of salvation from Christ: how can I then be lost again? This is impossible! Allow me to explain why:

I could only be lost again if somehow Jesus did NOT pay for ALL of my sins. You see, you and I were still in the future 2,000 years ago! So because God knew everything about me from the moment I was conceived in my mother to the moment that I will die in the future; and because He knew every sin that I would ever commit from the time I sinned my first sin until I have sinned my last sin, therefore ALL of those sins were placed on Jesus Christ! And Jesus suffered and died for every single one of my sins; and every single one of my sins were atoned for and paid for by the Lord Jesus Christ! Not one was missed! Amen.

Isaiah 53:4-5: “Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed.”

2 Corinthians 5:21: “for he made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

If the Free Will Baptists, Pentecostals, and Charismatics are correct, then Jesus only died for the sins that we committed before we received Christ as our Savior; and so we must constantly confess our sins to Christ so that WE CAN STAY SAVED. That means that we are saved by faith, but can be lost by works, which does not agree with the Bible, as I explain further down.

But there is no evidence from the Bible that Jesus only paid for the sins that we committed before we received Christ as our Savior; or that somehow the Atonement of Jesus was limited in some way.

No, the Bible says the opposite:

1 John 2:1-2: “My little children, I write these things to you, so that you sin not; but if any man sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous. And he himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”

Therefore, IF I have been truly born again through trusting in the Finished Work of Christ, then I am PERMANENTLY SAVED! Amen.

Hebrews 10:12-14: “But this man [Jesus], after he had offered one sacrifice for sins into perpetuity, sat down on the right hand of God, from henceforth waiting until his enemies are made his footstool: for by a single offering he has perfected into perpetuity them that are being sanctified.”

I have been perfected into perpetuity by the single offering of Jesus on the cross for my sins! Amen!

Hebrews 7:24-25: “but this Jesus, because he continues into the Ages, has an unchangeable Priesthood; therefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he always lives to make intercession for them.”

Because Jesus always lives to make intercession for me, I am saved to the uttermost! Hallelujah! I can never be lost, because He lives to pray for me! Amen.

John 10:28-30: Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice; and I know them; and they follow me; and I am continually giving them Eternal Life; and they shall never, ever perish; neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. “My Father, who gave them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.”

The Bible says that salvation is by faith alone without works

Romans 4:1-8: “What shall we say then that Abraham our father (according to the flesh) has found? For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to glory in. But not before God: for what does the Scripture say? Abraham “believed in [Jehovah]; and his faith was credited to him for righteousness.”

Now, to him that works, the reward is not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that does not work, but believes on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited for righteousness. Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man, to whom God imputes righteousness without works, saying, “Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.”

Therefore, if I am saved by faith alone, then I cannot be lost by good or bad works, period. Salvation is by either works or faith; if it is by works, then it is not by faith; if by faith, then it cannot be by works. Faith and works are exclusive to one another; you cannot mix them together.

The election of God guarantees that a believer will go to Heaven when they die

Romans 8:28-30: “And we know that all things work together for good, to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose: for those whom he foreknew, he also predestinated to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, those whom he predestinated, he also called them; and whom he called, he also justified them; and whom he justified, he also glorified them.”

I have explained election in previous studies in Romans Chapter 2.2. The text here says that “whom He justified” [born again, saved], then “He also glorified them”!

There is no alternative according to this text: if I have been justified, then I WILL BE GLORIFIED in Heaven someday! Amen.

The faith of a believer in the Finished Work of Christ guarantees they will go to Heaven when they die

Let me reinforce this point with a quick study of the most important text in the Bible about eternal security, Ephesians 2:8-9:

“For by grace you have been permanently saved through faith; and that faith is not out of yourselves: it is the gift of God; not of our own works, lest any man should boast”

The underlined words “you have been permanently saved” are exclusive to the Kingdom Study Bible translation. I don’t know of any other Bible version that makes it this clear and plain; but it is absolutely justified by the original Greek word that they are translated from:

σεσωσμενοι

“σεσωσμενοι” is the Perfect Passive Participle form of σῴζω.

Perfect Passive Participle means this: an action happened in the past, but not by the subject of the verb (in the case of this text, God did the action [saving the soul], not you or I); and the effect of that action ON AND IN ME goes on continually (like a perpetual motion machine) from the past, into the present, and into the future without ever ending!

In other words, God saved me in the past (August 30, 1982) when I repented of my sins and received Jesus Christ as my personal Savior; but that wasn’t the end! The effect of that salvation in my soul continued into the future without ever ending, and never will end (Hallelujah Amen!). The same is true of every born again Christian.

The Perfect Passive Participle of σεσωσμενοι is illustrated perfectly by this text:

2 Corinthians 1:9-10: “but we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead;

1) who delivered us from so great a death [Jesus saved me in the past from the penalty of sin in Hell, and He made me his child]

2) and delivers now; [Jesus saves me every moment of every day from the power of sin as I yield my mind, soul, and body to the power of the Holy Spirit]

3) in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us.” [Jesus will one day resurrect our bodies from the grave and give us a body like his immortal body, Amen!]

Do you see? The Bible never teaches that a believer can be born again, and then lost and go to Hell. This is an impossibility according to the Scriptures!

But what about?

Now in response to this, many who are confused about the issue of Eternal Security might say,

“But I know about this person who was a Christian; and he attended church for years and won souls to Christ and taught Sunday school etc etc; but now, he stays home, smokes cigarettes, drinks liquor and watches pornography; and he says that he doesn’t believe in Jesus anymore. So there is an example of someone who was saved, and now is lost and going to Hell.

There is also this man who studied in Seminary; he can read the Bible in Greek and has a doctorate degree. But he now says that he is an atheist and doesn’t believe in God. How do you explain him?”

Here is the truth: The Bible does NOT teach that a sinner, once saved/born again (the same thing) can be lost and go to Hell when they die. This is impossible! Therefore, if a person who once claimed to be a Christian, now says that he/she doesn’t believe in Jesus and wants nothing to do with the Bible or Jesus, then that person never was a true born again Christian in the first place!

Jesus provided the answer to this problem in his parable of the Seed and the Sower:

Matthew 13:3-9: “And he spoke many things to them in parables, saying, “Behold, a sower went forth to sow; and when he sowed, some seeds fell by the wayside, and the birds came and devoured them up. Some fell upon stony places, where they did not have much earth; and immediately they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth; and when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. And some seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns sprung up, and choked them; but other seeds fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. Who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Matthew 13:18-23: “Hear therefore the parable of the sower: when anyone hears the Word of the Kingdom, and does not understand it, then the Wicked one comes, and catches away that which was sown in his heart: this is he who received seed by the wayside. But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that hears the Word, and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root within himself, but is only temporary: for when tribulation or persecution arises because of the Word, instantly he falls away. He also that received seed among the thorns is he that hears the Word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, chokes the Word, and he produces no fruit. But he that received seed into the good ground is he that hears the Word, and understands it, who also bears fruit, and brings forth: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”

Jesus said that when the Gospel is preached, there are four kinds of responses to the Gospel from sinners:

1) The first hears the Word, but doesn’t understand it; the devil/a demon comes and steals the Word out of his heart; and he is lost forever.

2) The second hears the Word; and immediately receives the Word with joy; but his faith is an emotional reaction to the Gospel: not from the heart, because there is no faith in his heart: it is all in his head. So when persecution comes, they fall away from Christ and never come back. They bear no spiritual fruit, and finally, they are lost forever.

3) The third hears the Word; but he or she is too busy with making money or other things; and soon he or she forgets about the Gospel, and they bear no spiritual fruit; and finally, they are lost forever.

4) The fourth hears the Word of God, and understands it, and believes in Christ; they also bear spiritual fruit that testifies to their true faith in their hearts: some more and some less.

Jesus also told the parable of the Tares. A tare is a weed (Darnel) that looks very similar to wheat; but inside the husk, it has seeds, but they are poisonous! It is false wheat! A true born again believer is the true wheat in this parable, and the tares are the false believers.

Matthew 13:24-30: “He put forth another parable to them, saying, “The Kingdom of Heaven is likened to a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade had sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then the tares also appeared. So the servants of the householder came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? From where then does it have tares?’ He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Will you then that we go and gather them up?’ But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares, you root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest; and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, ‘Gather together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn.’’”

Matthew 13:36-43: “Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house; and his disciples came to him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.” He answered and said to them, “He that sows the good seed is the Son of man; the field is the world; the good seed are the children of the Kingdom; but the tares are the children of the Wicked one; the enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the Age; and the reapers are the angels. Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so shall it be in the end of this Age. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his Kingdom all things that offend and them who do iniquity, and shall cast them into the Oven of Fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. Who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Most believers don’t have the spiritual discernment to be able to know the difference between a false Christian and a true Christian. So when the false Christian falls away from God and goes back to his old life of sin, many Christians are shocked! But if you knew the truth about what was in their hearts, you would not be shocked, because a sinner who goes to church and acts like a Christian is like dressing up a pig and putting lipstick on it. The pig is still a pig; he is not a sheep; so when the pig goes back to his sty, he is going back to where he is most comfortable!

2 Peter 2:20-22: “For if after they were escaping the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, but they are again entangled in it and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the Way of righteousness, than after they have known it, to turn from the Holy Commandment delivered to them. But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, “The dog returned over and over to his own vomit”; and “the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mud.”

So the examples that are frequently cited about people who once were “saved”, but fell away from God and didn’t come back, or they became liberals, are easily explained by the parables of the Seed and the Sower, and the Tares.

It is true that a true believer in Christ can sin and even backslide on God; but the difference between him and a tare is that the true Christian will be chastised by his Heavenly Father! The tare will not receive any chastisement, until after they have died; then, there will be eternal chastisement!

Hebrews 12:5-8: “And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to children, “My son, despise not the discipline of [Jehovah], nor faint when you are rebuked by him: for whom [Jehovah] loves he disciplines, and scourges every son whom he receives.” If you endure discipline, God deals with you as with sons: for what son is he whom the father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline, whereof all are partakers, then you are illegitimate, and not truly sons of God.”

Summary

If we have truly repented of our sins, and placed our faith in the Finished Work of Jesus Christ on the cross alone for the forgiveness of our sins, then we can never be lost and go to Hell, because

1) All of our sins were paid for by Christ on the cross, without any exceptions (Hebrews 10:12-14; Hebrews 7:24-25; John 10:28-30).

2) The Bible says that salvation is by faith alone without works (Romans 4:1-8).

3) The election of God guarantees that a believer will go to Heaven when they die (Romans 8:28-30).

4) The faith of a believer in the Finished Work of Christ guarantees they will go to Heaven when they die (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Satan is very clever and has invented many perverse ways to turn people away from the plain teaching of the Bible, even born again Christians. Because of the false teaching of the Free Will Baptists, Pentecostals, and Charismatics on this doctrine, millions of born again Christians do not have peace with God and are not sure that they have been saved. Many have been born again and are going to Heaven and are eternally secure in Jesus Christ; but they are confused and in fear because their pastor is teaching them that they could be lost if “they sin too much”, and “they need to hang on to their salvation” (i.e they have to earn their salvation by good works).

This is a tragedy, because we are eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ, IF we have been truly born again through repentance and faith in the Finished Work of Christ for our sins.

1 John 5:10-13: “He that believes on the Son of God has the witness in himself. He that does not believe God has made him a liar, because he does not believe the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God has given to us Eternal Life, and this Life is in his Son. He that has the Son has Life; and he that does not have the Son of God does not have Life. These things have I written to you that believe on the Name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have Eternal Life, and that you may continue to believe on the Name of the Son of God.”

May God open your eyes to see that Jesus is the only Way to Heaven; and when you receive Him as your personal Savior, you are eternally, and securely, SAVED. Amen.

HOW TO BE SURE THAT YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED!

Are you truly born again? Make sure that you are, right now!

Do you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins? And that He was buried, and that Jesus rose up from the dead on the third day?

The Bible says that if we believe these things, we can be saved, if we repent of our sins and receive Jesus Christ as our personal Savior:

Romans 10:8-13: “But what does it say? “The Word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart”; that is to say, the Word of faith (which we preach), that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved: for with the heart, man believes into righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made into salvation: for the Scripture says, “Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.” For there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him: for it is written, “whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you are ready to be saved, then you can use the following prayer to repent and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against YOU. I am no good, and you are righteous! You are my only hope for salvation! I believe that you died on the cross for my sins, you were buried, and you rose again from the dead on the third day. I want you to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. Please come into my heart right now. Forgive me for all my sins, and save my soul. In the mighty Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen!”

La Doctrina de la Seguridad Eterna, explicada desde la Biblia

Comentarios: Repasemos brevemente de dónde venimos y hagamos algunas aplicaciones muy importantes.

En el Capítulo 2.2, el apóstol Pablo explicó que la Justificación era al menos cuatro cosas diferentes (hay más de cuatro, pero no esenciales en la Carta a los Romanos):

1) Imputación: Dios acredita (o imputa) al creyente su propia justicia en respuesta a nuestra fe en la Obra terminada de Cristo en la cruz.

2) Declaración: Dios declara que el pecador que cree en Jesucristo es justo ante sus ojos (nuestra nueva posición ante Dios)

3) Propiciación: Jesucristo fue una propiciación por los pecados de toda la humanidad en la cruz.

4) Redención: El pecador es redimido del mercado de esclavos del pecado por la Obra terminada de Cristo.

En otras palabras, una vez que un pecador se ha arrepentido y ha recibido a Jesucristo como su Salvador personal, entonces es SALVADO; él no puede ser PERDIDOS nunca más!

Y, sin embargo, hay varias sectas que enseñan que un pecador puede ser salvado mediante el arrepentimiento y la fe en Jesús; pero luego, si pecan “demasiado”, pueden volver a perderse: Bautistas del libre albedrío, pentecostales y carismáticos son los principales maestros de esta falsa doctrina.

TODOS mis pecados fueron pagados por Cristo en la cruz, sin excepción

¡Pero claramente no entienden la enseñanza de la Biblia sobre este tema! Si Jesús pagó por TODOS mis pecados en la cruz hace 2000 años, y yo me he arrepentido y creído en la Obra Concluida de Cristo por mis pecados; y recibí de Cristo el don gratuito de la salvación: entonces ¿cómo puedo estar perdido otra vez? ¡Esto es imposible! Permítanme explicarles por qué:

Sólo podría estar perdido otra vez, si de alguna manera Jesús NO pagara por TODOS mis pecados. Verás, ¡tú y yo todavía estábamos en el futuro hace 2000 años! Entonces porque Dios sabía todo sobre mí desde el momento que fui concebido en mi madre hasta el momento que moriré en el futuro; y porque Él conocía cada pecado que cometería desde el momento que pequé mi primer pecado hasta yo he cometido mi último pecado, por lo tanto, ¡TODOS esos pecados fueron puestos sobre Jesucristo! Y Jesús sufrió y murió por cada uno de mis pecados; ¡Y cada uno de mis pecados fueron expiados y pagados por el Señor Jesucristo! ¡No se perdió ni uno! Amén.

Isaías 53:4-5: “Ciertamente llevó él nuestras enfermedades, y sufrió nuestros dolores; sin embargo, le considerábamos como castigado, herido por Dios y afligido. Pero él fue herido por nuestras transgresiones, él estuvo magullado por nuestras iniquidades; el castigo de nuestra paz estaba sobre él, y con las rayas de él, somos sanados”.

2 Corintios 5:21: “Porque él le hizo convertirse en el pecado, quien no conoció pecado, para que seamos hechos la justicia de Dios en él”.

Si los bautistas del libre albedrío, pentecostales y carismáticos están en lo cierto, entonces Jesús sólo murió por los pecados que cometimos antes de recibir a Cristo como nuestro Salvador; y por eso debemos confesar constantemente nuestros pecados a Cristo para que PODEMOS MANTENERNOS SALVADOS. Eso significa que somos salvados por la fe, pero podemos perdernos por las obras, lo cual no concuerda con la Biblia, como explico más adelante.

Pero no hay evidencia en la Biblia de que Jesús solo pagó por los pecados que cometimos antes de recibir a Cristo como nuestro Salvador; o que de alguna manera la expiación de Jesús fue limitada de alguna manera.

No, la Biblia dice lo contrario:

1 Juan 2:1-2: “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo, para que no pequéis; pero si alguno hubiere pecado, tenemos un abogado con el Padre, Jesús Cristo el justo. Y él mismo es la propiciación por nuestros pecados; y no sólo por los nuestros, sino también por los pecados de todo el mundo”.

Por lo tanto, SI verdaderamente he nacido de nuevo al confiar en la Obra terminada de Cristo, entonces ¡soy SALVADO PERMANENTEMENTE! Amén.

Hebreos 10:12-14: “Pero este hombre [Jesús], después él había ofrecido uno sacrificio por los pecados hasta perpetuidad, se sentó a la diestra de Dios, desde ese momento en adelante esperando hasta que sus enemigos son hechos su escabel: porque con una sola ofrenda él ha perfeccionado hasta perpetuidad a los que están siendo santificados.

¡He sido perfeccionado hasta perpetuidad por la única ofrenda de Jesús en la cruz por mis pecados! ¡Amén!

Hebreos 7:24-25: “pero este Jesús, porque continúa hasta las edades, tiene un sacerdocio inmutable; por lo tanto, él también puede salvarlos hasta el máximo los que vienen a Dios a través de él, al ver que siempre vive para hacer intercesión por ellos”.

Debido a que Jesús siempre vive para interceder por mí, ¡estoy salvado al máximo! ¡Aleluya! ¡Nunca puedo perderme, porque Él vive para orar por mí! Amén.

Juan 10:28-30: Jesús dijo, “Mis ovejas oyen mi voz, y yo las conozco, y me siguen; y estoy dando continuamente a ellos Vida Eterna, y ellos nunca, jamás perecerán, ni nadie las arrebatará de mi mano. “Mi Padre que me las dio, es mayor que todos, y nadie las puede arrebatar desde la mano de mi Padre. Yo y mi Padre uno somos”.

La Biblia dice que la salvación es sola por fe sin obras

Romanos 4:1-8: “¿Qué, pues, diremos que Abraham nuestro padre (según a la carne) ha encontrado? Porque si Abraham fue justificado por las obras, tiene algo de lo que gloriarse. Pero no delante Dios: porque ¿qué dice la Escritura? Abraham “creyó en [Jehová]; y su fe fue acreditada a él por justicia”.

Ahora bien, al que obra, la recompensa no se le cuenta de gracia, sino de deuda. Pero al que no trabaja, sino cree en Aquél que justifica al impío, su fe es acreditada por justicia. Como David también describe la bienaventuranza del hombre a quien Dios atribuye justicia sin las obras, diciendo, “Bienaventurados aquellos cuyas iniquidades son perdonadas, y cuyos pecados están cubiertos. Bienaventurado el varón a quien [Jehová] no imputará pecado”.

Por lo tanto, si soy salvado sólo por fe, entonces ni puedo estar perdido por buenas o malas obras, punto. La salvación es por obras o por fe; si es por obras, entonces no es por fe; si por fe, entonces no puede ser por obras. La fe y las obras son exclusivas una de otra; no puedes mezclarlos.

La elección de Dios garantiza que un creyente irá al Cielo cuando muera

Romanos 8:28-30: “Y sabemos que todas las cosas cooperan para bien, a los que aman a Dios, a los que son los llamados según su propósito: para aquellos a quienes él conoció de antemano, también los predestinó a ser conformados a la imagen de su Hijo, para que él sea el primogénito entre muchos hermanos. Además, a los quien él predestinó, también él llamó a ellos; y los quien él llamó, también él justificó a ellos; y los quien justificó, también él glorificó a ellos”.

He explicado la elección en estudios previos en Romanos Capítulo 2.2. ¡El texto aquí dice que “a los que justificó” [nacidos de nuevo, salvados], luego “él también los glorificó.”!

No hay alternativa según este texto: si he sido justificado, ¡algún día SERÉ GLORIFICADO en el Cielo! Amén.

La fe de un creyente en la Obra terminada de Cristo garantiza que irá al Cielo cuando muera

Permítanme reforzar este punto con un estudio rápido del texto más importante de la Biblia sobre la seguridad eterna, Efesios 2:8-9:

“Porque por gracia, habéis sido salvado permanentemente por medio de la fe, y esta fe no es desde ustedes; es don de Dios; no de nuestras propias obras, para que ningún hombre se jacte:”

Las palabras subrayadas “has sido salvado permanentemente” son exclusivas de la traducción de la Biblia de Estudio del Reino. No conozco ninguna otra versión de la Biblia que lo haga tan claro y sencillo; pero está absolutamente justificado por la palabra griega original que se traducen de:

σεσωσμενοι

“σεσωσμενοι” es la forma del Participio Pasivo Perfecto de σῴζω.

El participio pasivo perfecto significa esto: una acción ocurrió en el pasado, pero no por el sujeto del verbo (En el caso de este texto, Dios hizo la acción [salvando el alma], no tú ni yo); ¡y el efecto de esa acción EN Y EN MÍ continúa continuamente (como una máquina en movimiento perpetuo) desde el pasado, hacia el presente y hacia el futuro sin terminar jamás!

En otras palabras, Dios me salvó en el pasado (30 de agosto de 1982) cuando me arrepentí de mis pecados y recibí a Jesucristo como mi Salvador personal; ¡pero ese no fue el final! El efecto de esa salvación en mi alma continuó en el futuro sin terminar jamás, y nunca terminará (¡Aleluya, Amén!). Lo mismo es cierto para todo cristiano nacido de nuevo.

El participio perfecto pasivo de σεσωσμενοι se ilustra perfectamente con este texto:

2 Corintios 1:9-10: “Pero tuvimos en nosotros mismos una sentencia de muerte, para que no confiásemos en nosotros mismos, sino en Dios que resucita a los muertos;

1) “quien nos libró desde tan gran muerte,” [Jesús me salvó en el pasado de la pena del pecado en el infierno y me hizo su hijo.]

2) “y libra ahora;” [Jesús me salva cada momento de cada día del poder del pecado mientras entrego mi mente, alma y cuerpo al poder del Espíritu Santo.]

3) “en quien confiamos que él todavía nos librará”. [Jesús un día resucitará nuestros cuerpos de la tumba y nos dará un cuerpo como su cuerpo inmortal, ¡Amén!]

¿Lo ves? La Biblia nunca enseña que un creyente puede nacer de nuevo y luego perderse e ir al infierno. ¡Esto es imposible según las Escrituras!

¿Pero qué pasa con?

Ahora, en respuesta a esto, muchos de los que están confundidos acerca del tema de la Seguridad Eterna podrían decir:

“Pero sé de esta persona que era cristiana; y asistió a la iglesia durante años y ganó almas para Cristo y enseñó en la escuela dominical, etc., etc.; pero ahora se queda en casa, bebe licor y mira pornografía; y dice que ya no cree en Jesús. Entonces hay un ejemplo de alguien que fue salvado y ahora está perdido y va al infierno”.

También está este hombre que estudió en el Seminario; Sabe leer la Biblia en griego y tiene un doctorado. Pero ahora dice que es ateo y no cree en Dios. ¿Cómo le explicas?

Aquí está la verdad: La Biblia NO enseña que un pecador, una vez salvo/nacido de nuevo (lo mismo) puede perderse e ir al infierno cuando muera. ¡Esto es imposible! Por lo tanto, si una persona que alguna vez afirmó ser cristiana, ahora dice que no cree en Jesús y no quiere tener nada que ver con la Biblia o Jesús, ¡entonces esa persona nunca fue un verdadero cristiano nacido de nuevo en primer lugar!

Jesús dio la respuesta a este problema en su parábola de la semilla y el sembrador:

Mateo 13:3-9: “Y les habló muchas cosas en parábolas, diciendo, “He aquí, el sembrador salió a sembrar. Y cuando sembraba, parte de la semilla cayó junto al camino; y vinieron las aves y la comieron. Y parte cayó en pedregales, donde no había mucha suelo; y brotó luego: porque no tenía profundidad de suelo; pero cuando salió el sol, se quemó; y porque no tenía raíz, se secó. Y parte cayó entre espinos; y los espinos crecieron, y la ahogaron. Pero parte cayó en suelo bueno y dio fruto, cuál a ciento, cuál a sesenta, y cuál a treinta por uno. El que tiene oídos para oír, déjale oír”.

Mateo 13:18-23: “Oíd, pues, la parábola del sembrador: cuando alguno oye la Palabra del reino y no la entiende, viene el Malo, y arrebata lo que fue sembrado en su corazón. Éste es el que fue sembrado junto al camino. Y el que fue sembrado en pedregales, éste es el que oye la Palabra, y al instante la recibe con gozo, pero no tiene raíz en sí, sino que es temporal; pues cuando viene la aflicción o la persecución por causa de la Palabra, luego se ofende. Y el que fue sembrado entre espinos, es el que oye la Palabra; pero el afán de este mundo, y el engaño de las riquezas ahogan la Palabra, y se hace infructuosa. Pero el que fue sembrado en buena tierra, éste es el que oye la Palabra y la entiende, y lleva fruto; algunos un céntuplo, algunos sesenta, algunos treinta”.

Jesús dijo que cuando se predica el Evangelio, hay cuatro tipos de respuestas al Evangelio por parte de los pecadores:

1) El primero oye la Palabra, pero no la entiende; viene el diablo/demonio y le roba la Palabra de su corazón; y está perdido para siempre.

2) El segundo escucha la Palabra; e inmediatamente recibe la Palabra con alegría; pero su fe es una reacción emocional al Evangelio: no del corazón, porque no hay fe en su corazón: está toda en su cabeza. Entonces, cuando llega la persecución, se alejan de Cristo y nunca regresan. No dan fruto espiritual y, finalmente, se pierden para siempre.

3) El tercero escucha la Palabra; pero está demasiado ocupado ganando dinero u otras cosas; y pronto se olvida del Evangelio y no da fruto espiritual; y finalmente, se pierden para siempre.

4) El cuarto oye la Palabra de Dios, la entiende y cree en Cristo; también dan frutos espirituales que dan testimonio de su verdadera fe en sus corazones: algunos más y otros menos.

Jesús también contó la parábola de la cizaña. La tara es una mala hierba (cizaña) que se parece mucho al trigo; pero dentro de la cáscara tiene semillas, ¡pero son venenosas! ¡Es trigo falso! Un verdadero creyente nacido de nuevo es el verdadero trigo en esta parábola, y la cizaña son los falsos creyentes.

Mateo 13:24-30: “Les relató otra parábola, diciendo, “El Reino del Cielo es semejante al hombre que sembró buena semilla en su campo; pero mientras dormían los hombres, vino su enemigo y sembró cizaña entre el trigo y se fue. Y cuando la hierba salió y dio fruto, entonces apareció también la cizaña. Y vinieron los siervos del padre de familia y le dijeron, ‘Señor, ¿no sembraste buena semilla en tu campo? ¿De dónde, pues, tiene cizaña?’ Y él les dijo, ‘Un enemigo ha hecho esto’. Y los siervos le dijeron, ‘¿Quieres, pues, que vayamos y la arranquemos?’. Pero él dijo, ‘No; no sea que al arrancar la cizaña, arranquéis también con ella el trigo. Dejad crecer juntamente lo uno y lo otro hasta la siega; y en el tiempo de la siega yo diré a los segadores, ‘Recoged primero la cizaña, y atadla en manojos para quemarla; pero recoged el trigo en mi granero’’”.

Mateo 13:36-43: “Entonces Jesús despidió a la multitud, y se fue a casa, y sus discípulos vinieron a él, y le dijeron, “Decláranos la parábola de la cizaña del campo”. Respondiendo él les dijo, “El que siembra la buena semilla es el Hijo del hombre; el campo es el mundo; la buena semilla son los hijos del reino; y la cizaña son los hijos del malo. El enemigo que la sembró es el diablo; la siega es el fin del mundo, y los segadores son los ángeles. Así como la cizaña es recogida y quemada en el fuego; así será en el fin de este mundo. El Hijo del hombre enviará a sus ángeles, y recogerán de su reino a todo lo que hace tropezar, y a los que hacen iniquidad, y los lanzarán al horno de fuego; allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes. Entonces los justos resplandecerán como el sol en el reino de su Padre. El que tiene oídos para oír, déjale oír”.

La mayoría de los creyentes no tienen el discernimiento espiritual para poder saber la diferencia entre un cristiano falso y un cristiano verdadero. Entonces, cuando el falso cristiano se aleja de Dios y regresa a su antigua vida de pecado, ¡muchos cristianos se sorprenden!

Pero si supieras la verdad acerca de lo que hay en sus corazones, no te sorprenderías, porque un pecador que va a la iglesia y actúa como cristiano es como disfrazar a un cerdo y ponerle lápiz labial. El cerdo sigue siendo un cerdo; él no es una oveja; Así que cuando el cerdo regrese a su pocilga, ¡él va a regresar a donde se siente más cómodo!

2 Pedro 2:20-22: “Porque si después ellos estaban escapando a las contaminaciones del mundo mediante el conocimiento del Señor y Salvador Jesucristo, pero ellos están enredados en ello de nuevo y son vencidos, el último fin les es peor que el principio. Porque mejor les hubiera sido no haber conocido el Camino de la Justicia, que después de lo han sabido, alejarse del santo Mandamiento que se les entregó. Pero les ha sucedido según el verdadero proverbio: “El perro volvía a una y otra vez a su propio vómito”; y “la puerca que fue lavada a revolcarse en el barro”.

Entonces, los ejemplos que se citan con frecuencia sobre personas que una vez fueron “salvas”, pero se alejaron de Dios y no regresaron, o se volvieron liberales, se explican fácilmente mediante las parábolas de la Semilla, el Sembrador y la Cizaña.

Es cierto que un verdadero creyente en Cristo puede pecar e incluso apostatar contra Dios; ¡pero la diferencia entre él y la cizaña es que el verdadero cristiano será castigado por su Padre Celestial! La tara no recibirá ningún castigo, hasta después de que él haber muerto; ¡Entonces habrá castigo eterno!

Hebrews 12:5-8: “Y ustedes ha olvidado la exhortación que habla a ustedes como a niños: “Hijo mío, no desprecies la disciplina de [Jehová], ni desmayes cuando seas reprendido por él: porque quien [Jehová] ama, él disciplina; y él azota a todo hijo que recibe”. Si soportáis el castigo, Dios os trata como con hijos: porque qué hijo es aquel a quien el padre no castiga? Pero si seáis sin el castigo, del cual todos son hechos partícipes, entonces ustedes son ilegítimos, y no sois verdaderamente hijos de Dios”.

Resumen

Si verdaderamente nos hemos arrepentido de nuestros pecados y hemos puesto nuestra fe en la Obra terminada de Jesucristo solo en la cruz para el perdón de nuestros pecados, entonces nunca podremos estar perdidos e ir al infierno, porque

1) Todos nuestros pecados fueron pagados por Cristo en la cruz, sin excepción (Hebreos 10:12-14; Hebreos 7:24-25; Juan 10:28-30).

2) La Biblia dice que la salvación es sola por fe sin obras (Romanos 4:1-8).

3) La elección de Dios garantiza que un creyente irá al Cielo cuando muera (Romanos 8:28-30).

4) La fe de un creyente en la Obra Concluida de Cristo garantiza que irá al Cielo cuando muera (Efesios 2:8-9).

Satanás es muy inteligente y ha inventado muchas maneras perversas para alejar a la gente de la clara enseñanza de la Biblia, incluso a los cristianos nacidos de nuevo. Debido a la falsa enseñanza de los bautistas del libre albedrío, pentecostales y carismáticos sobre esta doctrina, millones de cristianos nacidos de nuevo no tienen paz con Dios y no están seguros de haber sido salvados. Han nacido de nuevo e irán al cielo y ellos están eternamente seguros en Jesucristo; pero están confundidos y temerosos porque su pastor les está enseñando que podrían perderse si “pecan demasiado”.

Esta es una tragedia, porque estamos eternamente seguros en el Señor Jesucristo, SI verdaderamente hemos nacido de nuevo a través del arrepentimiento y la fe en la Obra Consumada de Cristo por nuestros pecados.

1 Juan 5:10-13: “El que cree en el Hijo de Dios, tiene el testimonio en sí mismo; el que no cree a Dios, le ha hecho mentiroso: porque no ha creído en el testimonio que Dios ha dado de su Hijo. Y este es el registro, que Dios nos ha dado Vida Eterna, y esta Vida está en su Hijo. El que tiene al Hijo, tiene la Vida; y el que no tiene al Hijo de Dios, no tiene la Vida. Estas cosas os he escrito a ustedes que creéis en el Nombre del Hijo de Dios, para que sepáis que tenéis Vida Eterna, y para que sigáis creyendo en el Nombre del Hijo de Dios”.

Que Dios les abra tus ojos para ver que Jesús es el único Camino al Cielo; y cuando lo recibes como tu Salvador personal, eres SALVADO eterna y seguramente. Amén.

¡CÓMO ESTAR SEGURO DE QUE HAS SIDO SALVADO!

¿Realmente has nacido de nuevo? ¡Asegúrate de estarlo ahora mismo!

¿Crees que Jesucristo murió en la cruz por tus pecados? ¿Y que fue sepultado y que Jesús resucitó de entre los muertos al tercer día?

La Biblia dice que si creemos estas cosas, podemos ser salvados, si nos arrepentimos de nuestros pecados y recibimos a Jesucristo como nuestro Salvador personal:

Romanos 10:8-13: “Pero ¿qué dice? “La Palabra está cerca de ti, incluso en tu boca y en tu corazón”, es decir, la Palabra de fe (que predicamos), que si confesarás con tu boca al Señor Jesús, y creerás en tu corazón que Dios le levantó de los muertos, tú serás salvado: porque con el corazón, el hombre cree para justicia, y con la boca, la confesión se hace para la salvación: porque la Escritura dice, “cualquiera que en él creyere, no será avergonzado”. Porque no hay diferencia entre el judio y el gentil: porque el mismo Señor sobre todo es rico a todos los que le invocan: porque [está escrito], “Cualquiera que llamará sobre el Nombre del Señor será salvado”.

Si estás listo para ser salvado, entonces puedes usar la siguiente oración para arrepentirte y recibir al Señor Jesucristo como tu Salvador personal:

“Señor Jesús, sé que he pecado contra USTED. ¡No soy bueno y usted eres justo! Creo que moriste en la cruz por mis pecados, fuiste enterrado y resucitaste de entre los muertos al tercer día. Quiero que vengas a mi vida y seas mi Señor y Salvador. Por favor entra en mi corazón ahora mismo. Perdóname por todos mis pecados y salva mi alma. En el poderoso Nombre de Jesús, oro, ¡Amén!”
