I’m not going to repeat the earlier material that I presented in the ten survey studies of the five logical Books in Volume 5. If you missed any of those studies, I urge you to at least scan through each one so that you can understand what I am talking about when I talk about the Golden Ratio design. First, a reminder of the correct interpretation that rules the entire letter of Hebrews. Unless this is kept in our mind, it becomes easy to fall back on the many flawed interpretations that are commonly taught about Hebrews.

The overall theme of Chapter 1 shows God the Son going down to Earth to become the final sacrifice for all sins, never to be repeated.

First, the Introduction section explains exactly who Jesus is: He is the second Person of the eternal Triune Jehovah God; He is NOT one of the angels, which are created beings (Hebrews 1:1 - 7).

Secondly, the Body section explains the Incarnation of the Word of God in Jesus Christ, who became the ultimate and final Atoning Sacrifice for our sins, never to be repeated. This section also underlines the urgency of believing in Christ, because of who He is (Hebrews 1:8 - 3:6).

Thirdly, the Conclusion section uses the example of Israel in the wilderness at Kadesh-Barnea, who had been given the choice to believe the words of Jehovah and go forward to conquer the Promised Land or do not believe Jehovah and go back to Egypt against the will of God (Hebrews 3:7 - 4:13).

This choice was very similar to the choice for the Jews in the early first century who had been saved under the Old Covenant system of animal sacrifices before Christ had died on the cross: now that the Finished Work of Christ on the cross had done away with animal sacrifices as a means to approach the one true God, they had to decide whether to transfer their faith from the system of animal sacrifices in the Temple in Jerusalem to their Messiah and High Priest Jesus Christ, or reject Christ and continue with animal sacrifices against the will of God.

If those Jews completed their faith and received Jesus Christ as their Messiah, they would enter the true “rest” of God as completed Jews. Otherwise, they would end up like the generation of Israelites whose corpses fell in the wilderness and did not see the Promised Land of Canaan.

None of this letter directly applies to believers in Christ or to Jews today; although applications can be made to believers in Christ within this overall interpretation.

The Body section of Chapter 1.1 of Hebrews focuses on the Incarnation of God the Son in the sinless humanity of Jesus.

First, let’s look at the Body section as a whole to understand the big picture first, before we dive into the details. I will only cover the first three paragraphs with this study.

§Complement Body: The Gospel of the Finished Work of Christ was spoken by God the Son (1:8 - 3:6)

¶Unique God the Son is the Creator, while the angels were created by Him (1:8 - 2:1)

¶Complement The message of Salvation has negative eternal consequences for your soul if you neglect it (2:2 - 8a)

¶Complement The messenger of Salvation paid the ultimate price for your soul on the cross (2:8b - 13)

¶Opposite God the Son humbled Himself to become part of the race of Abraham to make reconciliation for sin (2:14 - 18)

¶Opposite Christ was worthy of more glory than Moses because He is a Son instead of a servant (3:1 - 6)

The first paragraph:

§Complement Body: The Gospel of the Finished Work of Christ was spoken by God the Son (1:8 - 3:6)

¶Unique God the Son is the Creator, while the angels were created by Him (1:8 - 2:1)

Opposite But to the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, endures into the Ages of the Ages; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your Kingdom. You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your companions.”

Opposite And, “You, Lord, in the beginning have laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of your hands. They shall perish, but you remain; and they shall all grow old like a garment. And as a cloak you shall fold them up, and they shall be transformed; but you are the same, and your years shall not fail.”

Complement But to which of the angels said he at any time, “Sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool”?

Complement Are they not all ministering spirits, who were sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Unique Therefore we ought to give the more earnest attention to the things which we have heard, lest at any time, we drift away.

Comments: Notice the Golden Ratio design of two opposites, two complements, and one unique.

In the sub-paragraphs for each paragraph, this is the way that the unique paragraph is designed by God. It contrasts with the two complements paragraphs that follow.

Notice how the themes of the next two paragraphs (following this one) are like two sides of the same coin. Their internal subparagraph design is one unique, two complements, and two opposites.

¶Unique God the Son is the Creator, while the angels were created by Him (1:8 - 2:1)

¶Complement The message of Salvation has negative eternal consequences for your soul if you neglect it (2:2 - 8a)

¶Complement The messenger of Salvation paid the ultimate price for your soul on the cross (2:8b - 13)

Now let’s discuss the content of the first paragraph, which emphasizes again what was stated in the Introduction, that Jesus is God Almighty and created all things. And the angels are only ministering spirits, who were sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation.

What do the good angels do? They minister to us in ways that are invisible to us. Most likely, they protect us from the spiritual attacks of Satan and his demons, while we are walking in obedience to the Lord. If we are walking in sin and rebellion against the Lord, most likely they allow the devil and his demons to do their worst to us.

We cannot see them, but they are always present. Jesus said,

“Be careful that you do not despise one of these little ones: for I say to you, that in Heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father, who is in Heaven” (Matthew 18:10).

But the point of this paragraph is to emphasize that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is extremely important, because of the One who originally spoke it: the Lord Jesus Christ, the Creator of all things! We ignore or downplay the Word of God to our own destruction!

Hebrews 2:1: “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest attention to the things which we have heard, lest at any time, we drift away.”

Also, the Jews in the early first century needed to pay attention to the Gospel of Christ, because Jesus was their promised Messiah and the Prophet of God. God had already warned them what would happen if they did not listen to Him:

Deuteronomy 18:15-19: “Jehovah your God will raise up to you a Prophet from the midst of you, of your brethren, like me. To him shall you listen, according to all that you desired of Jehovah your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly; saying, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of Jehovah my God; neither let me see this great fire anymore, so that I do not die.’ And Jehovah said to me, ‘They have well spoken that which they have spoken. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like you, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not listen to my words that he shall speak in my Name, I will require it of him.”

The second paragraph:

¶Complement The message of Salvation has negative eternal consequences for your soul if you neglect it (2:2 - 8a)

Unique For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just punishment: how shall we escape punishment, if we neglect such great salvation?

Complement Which at the first, began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by them that heard him;

Complement God also bearing them witness: both with signs and wonders, and with various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his will.

Opposite For he has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to the angels.

Opposite But one in a certain place testified, saying, “What is man, that you are mindful of him? Or the son of man, that you visit him? You made him a little lower than the angels; you crowned him with glory and honor, and set him over the works of your hands; you have put all things in subjection under his feet.”

Comments: Notice the Golden Ratio design of one unique, two complements, and two opposites.

The theme of this paragraph is “The message of Salvation from our Creator has negative eternal consequences for your soul if you neglect it.”

We cannot escape punishment, if we neglect such great salvation! God Himself came down from Heaven to become a Man, so that you could be saved and join Him in his eternal Kingdom, if you repent and believe; so you would be a fool to reject Him! Sadly, there are many who do, and suffer the consequences.

But the point of this statement in the letter to the Hebrews was aimed at Jews in the first century who had been saved under the Old Covenant through animal sacrifices; but now they needed to turn to the Finished Work of Christ on the cross as the final sacrifice and atonement for all sins, never to be repeated!

If they failed to repent of the Old Covenant system of animal sacrifice and turn to Christ, God would punish them severely, which He did in 70 A.D. when God sent the Roman army of Titus to raze Jerusalem and the Temple to the ground; and over one million Jews were slain. God would not take “No” or “Wait” for an answer!

The third paragraph:

¶Complement The messenger of Salvation paid the ultimate price for your soul on the cross (2:8b - 13)

Unique For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him.

Complement But now we do not yet see all things put under him.

Complement But we see Jesus, who for a short time was made lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor, that he, by the grace of God, should taste death for every man.

Opposite For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the Author of their salvation complete through sufferings.

Opposite For both he that sanctifies and they who are being sanctified are all of the same flesh; for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers, saying, “I will declare your Name to my brothers; in the midst of the Assembly will I sing praise to you.” And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again, “Behold I and the children whom God has given me.”

Comments: Notice the Golden Ratio design of one unique, two complements, and two opposites.

The theme of this paragraph is “The messenger of Salvation paid the ultimate price for your soul on the cross.”

Notice how the theme complements the theme of the previous paragraph:

¶Complement The message of Salvation has negative eternal consequences for your soul if you neglect it (2:2 - 8a)

Jesus was made a little lower than the angels in his Incarnation as a Man. The angels cannot not die, because they are spirits that were created by Jesus Christ; but Jesus had human flesh that was capable of dying, if He so willed it. Death normally comes because of sin that was received from Adam through our parents.

Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

But Jesus was begotten by God the Holy Spirit through the virgin Mary, and so the ancestry of Jesus is not from Adam; therefore, Jesus did not have a sin nature; and therefore, his body could never die, unless he allowed it to happen; which He did on the cross. He could not die otherwise, because He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life!

John 14:6: “Jesus says to him, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man comes to the Father, except through me.”

Matthew 27:50 “Then Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the spirit.”

Some modern, liberal translations say that Jesus “breathed his last”; which is wicked and wrong! Jesus made a free choice to give up his spirit for the salvation of billions of souls. He could not have atoned for our sins if He had not died.

Jesus was not a weakling who “breathed his last”, or “died”! These liberal translations want to portray Jesus as only a man, and to deny Him his rightful honor as the Son of God; (e.g. Good News translation, God’s Word translation, JB Phillips, The Message etc.). Shame on them!

Hebrews 2:9b “Crowned with glory and honor”.

This seems to be a reference to the crown of thorns given to Jesus by the Roman soldiers, which they intended to be shameful for Jesus; but God made his suffering into a crown of glory for the salvation of countless billions of souls! Amen!

The message of Salvation is the Gospel of Jesus Christ: God came to Earth to become a Man (the Incarnation of the Word of God in Jesus at his conception by the Holy Spirit with the virgin Mary), who lived 33 years without sin of any kind, and gave his life on the cross to atone for our sins. He arose from the dead on the third day, and returned into Heaven to await the proper Time to return to Earth to claim his Kingdom over all mankind.

1 Corinthians 15:1-5: “Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the Gospel which I preached to you, which also you have received, and in which you stand. By which also you are saved, if you keep in memory what I preached to you, unless you have believed in vain: for I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”

Hebrews 2:9: “But we see Jesus, who for a short time was made lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor, that he, by the grace of God, should taste death for every man.”

Conclusion

How about you? Have you believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, repented of your sins and invited Him to come into your life to save you? If not, why not do it today?

The Bible says that if we repent of our sins, and believe that Jesus died for our sins and rose up from the dead on the third day, and invite Jesus into our heart to save us, then we shall be saved!

Luke 13:3: Jesus said, “I tell you, no; but, unless you repent, you shall all likewise perish.”

Romans 10:9, 12-13: “If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved.... For there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him: for it is written, “whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”

There is no other Way to Heaven when you die, except through the Lord Jesus Christ!

John 14:6: “Jesus says to him, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man comes to the Father, except through me.””

If you would like to know the one true God as your personal Savior, and know for certain that you will go to Heaven when you die, instead of Hell, you can pray this prayer to be saved:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against YOU. I am no good, and you are righteous! You are my only hope for salvation! I believe that you died on the cross for my sins, you were buried, and you rose again from the dead on the third day. I want you to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. Please come into my heart right now. Forgive me for all my sins, and save my soul. In the mighty Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen!”

La sección del Cuerpo del Capítulo 1.1 de Hebreos se enfoca en la Encarnación de Dios el Hijo en la humanidad sin pecado de Jesús.

El complemento ¿No son todos espíritus ministrantes, quiénes fueron enviados fuera para ministrar a los que serán herederos de la salvación?

Único Por lo tanto, debemos prestar más atención seria a las cosas cual hemos escuchado, no sea que, en cualquier momento, nosotros irse a la deriva lejos.

Comentarios: observe el diseño de la proporción áurea de dos opuestos, dos complementarios y uno único.

En los subpárrafos de cada párrafo, esta es la forma que el párrafo único está diseñado por Dios. Contrasta con los dos párrafos complementarios que siguen.

Observe cómo los temas de los próximos dos párrafos (después de este) son como dos caras de la misma moneda. Su diseño de subpárrafo interno es uno único, dos complementos y dos opuestos.

Ahora analicemos el contenido del primer párrafo, que enfatiza nuevamente lo que se dijo en la Introducción, que Jesús es Dios Todopoderoso y creó todas las cosas.

Y los ángeles son solo espíritus ministradores, que fueron enviados para ministrar a favor de los que serán herederos de la salvación.

¿Qué hacen los ángeles buenos? Nos ministran de maneras que son invisibles para nosotros. Lo más probable es que nos protejan de los ataques espirituales de Satanás y sus demonios, mientras caminamos en obediencia al Señor. Si estamos caminando en pecado y rebelión contra el Señor, lo más probable permiten que el diablo y sus demonios hagan lo peor que pueden con nosotros.

No podemos verlos, pero siempre están presentes. Jesús dijo,

“Tened cuidado no despreciar a uno de estos pequeños: porque les digo que en el Cielo sus ángeles siempre contemplan el rostro de mi Padre quien está en el Cielo.” (Mateo 18:10).

Pero el punto de este párrafo es enfatizar que el Evangelio de Jesucristo es extremadamente importante, debido a Aquel que lo habló originalmente: el Señor Jesucristo, el Creador de todas las cosas! ¡Ignoramos o minimizamos la Palabra de Dios hasta nuestra propia destrucción!

Hebreos 2:1: “Por lo tanto, debemos prestar más atención seria a las cosas cual hemos escuchado, no sea que, en cualquier momento, nosotros irse a la deriva lejos.”

Además, los judíos de principios del primer siglo necesitaban prestar atención al Evangelio de Cristo, porque Jesús era su Mesías prometido y el Profeta de Dios. Dios ya les había advertido lo que sucedería si no le escuchaban:

Deuteronomio 18:15-19: “Jehová tu Dios te levantará un Profeta desde el medio de ti, de tus hermanos, como yo. Escucharás a él, conforme a todo lo que pediste a Jehová tu Dios en Horeb el día de la asamblea, diciendo, ‘No me dejes oír de nuevo la voz de Jehová mi Dios; ni me dejes ver este gran fuego nunca más, para que no muera.’ Y Jehová me dijo, ‘Han hablado bien en lo que han dicho. Les levantaré un Profeta de entre sus hermanos, como tú; y pondré mis palabras en su boca, y él les hablará todo lo que yo le mandaré. Y sucederá que a cualquiera que no escuche mis palabras de que hablará en mi Nombre, lo requeriré desde él.”

El segundo párrafo:

¶El complemento El mensaje de Salvación desde nuestro Creador tiene consecuencias eternas y negativas para tu alma si lo descuidas (2:2 - 8a)

Único Porque si la palabra hablada por los ángeles era firme, y toda transgresión y desobediencia recibió un castigo justo: ¿cómo escaparemos del castigo, si descuidamos una salvación tan grande?

El complemento Cual al principio, comenzó a ser hablado por el Señor, y nos fue confirmado por los que le escucharon;

El complemento Dios también los dando testimonio: ambos con señales y prodigios, y con varios milagros y dones del Espíritu Santo, según su voluntad.

Lo opuesto Porque él no ha puesto el mundo por venir, de los cuales hablamos, en sujeción a los ángeles.

Lo opuesto Pero uno en un lugar determinado testificó, diciendo, “¿Qué es el hombre, que te acuerdas de él? O el hijo del hombre, que le visites? Le hiciste un poco más bajo que los ángeles; le coronaste de gloria y honor, y le pusiste sobre las obras de tus manos. Has puesto todas las cosas en sujeción bajo sus pies.”

¡No podemos escapar del castigo si descuidamos una salvación tan grande! Dios mismo bajó del cielo para hacerse hombre, para que tú pudieras ser salvado y unirte a Él en su Reino eterno, si tú arrepientes y crees. ¡Así que serías un necio si lo rechazaras! Lamentablemente, hay muchos que lo hacen y sufren las consecuencias.

Pero el punto de esta declaración en la carta a los Hebreos estaba dirigido a los judíos del primer siglo que habían sido salvados bajos el Antiguo Pacto a través de sacrificios de animales; pero ahora necesitaban volverse a la Obra Terminada de Cristo en la cruz como el sacrificio final y la expiación por todos los pecados, ¡para nunca repetirse!

Si fallaban en arrepentirse del sistema del Antiguo Pacto de sacrificio de animales y volverse a Cristo, Dios los castigaría severamente, lo cual hizo en el año 70 d.C. cuando Dios envió al ejército romano de Tito a arrasar Jerusalén y el Templo hasta los cimientos; y más de un millón de judíos fueron matados. ¡Dios no aceptaría un “No” o un “Espera” por respuesta!

El tercer párrafo:

¶El complemento El mensajero de la Salvación pagó el precio máximo por tu alma en la cruz (2:8b - 13)

Único Porque en eso él puso todo en sujeción bajo él, dejó nada que no sea sujeto a él.

El complemento Pero ahora, no vemos todavía todas las cosas sometidas a él.

El complemento Pero vemos a Jesús, quien por un corto tiempo fue hecho más bajo que los ángeles por el sufrimiento de la muerte, coronado de gloria y honor, para que él, por la gracia de Dios, debería gustar la muerte por cada hombre.

Lo opuesto Porque era apropiado para Él, para quién son todas las cosas, y por quién son todas las cosas, en trayendo muchos hijos a la gloria, para hacer completa el Autor de su salvación a través de los sufrimientos.

Lo opuesto Porque ambos él que santifica y aquellos que son siendo santificados son todos de la misma carne; para cual causa él es no avergonzado a llamarlos hermanos, diciendo, “Declararé tu Nombre a mis hermanos, en medio de la congregación cantaré alabanzas a ti.” Y otra vez, “Pondré mi confianza en él.” Y otra vez, “He aquí, yo y los hijos que Dios me dio.”

Comentarios: observe el diseño de la proporción áurea de uno único, dos complementos y dos opuestos.

El tema de este párrafo es “El mensajero de la Salvación pagó el precio máximo por tu alma en la cruz.”

Observe cómo el tema complementa el tema del párrafo anterior:

Jesús fue hecho un poco más bajo que los ángeles en su Encarnación como un Hombre. Los ángeles no pueden no morir, porque son espíritus que fueron creados por Jesucristo; pero Jesús tenía carne humana que era capaz de morir, si así lo quería. Death normally comes because of sin that was received from Adam through our parents.

Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Pero Jesús fue engendrado por Dios el Espíritu Santo a través de la virgen María, por lo que la ascendencia de Jesús no es desde Adán; por lo tanto, Jesús no tuvo naturaleza de pecado; y por lo tanto, su cuerpo jamás podría morir, a menos que él permitiera que sucediera; cual él hizo en la cruz. ¡Él no podría morir de otra manera, porque Él es el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida!

Juan 14:6: “Jesús le dice: Yo soy el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida: nadie viene al Padre, sino por mí.”

Mateo 27:50 “Entonces Jesús, cuando hubo vuelto a clamar a gran voz, entregó el espíritu.”

Algunas traducciones modernas y liberales dicen que Jesús “respiró su última”; ¡lo cual es malvado e incorrecto! Jesús tomó la libre elección de entregar su espíritu por la salvación de miles de millones de almas. Él no podría haber expiado nuestros pecados si no hubiera muerto.

¡Jesús no fue un debilucho que “respiró por última vez” o “murió”! Estas traducciones liberales quieren retratar a Jesús como solo un hombre y negarle el honor que le corresponde como Hijo de Dios (e.g. Traducción de las Buenas Nuevas, traducción de la Palabra de Dios, JB Phillips, El Mensaje etc.). ¡Verguenza en ellos!

Hebrews 2:9b “Coronado de gloria y honor”.

Esto parece ser una referencia a la corona de espinas que los soldados romanos le dieron a Jesús, que pretendían ser vergonzoso para Jesús; ¡pero Dios hizo el sufrimiento de Jesús en una corona de gloria para la salvación de incontables miles de millones de almas! ¡Amén!

El mensaje de Salvación es el Evangelio de Jesucristo: Dios vino a la Tierra para hacerse Hombre (la Encarnación del Verbo de Dios en Jesús en su concepción por el Espíritu Santo con la virgen María); Él vivió 33 años sin pecado de ningún tipo, y dio su vida en la cruz para expiar nuestros pecados. Resucitó de entre los muertos al tercer día y regresó al Cielo para esperar el Tiempo apropiado para regresar a la Tierra para reclamar su Reino sobre toda la humanidad.

1 Corintios 15:1-5: “Además os declaro, hermanos, el Evangelio que os he predicado, el cual también recibisteis, en el cual estáis firmes. Por el cual asimismo sois salvados, si retenéis la palabra que os he predicado, si no habéis creído en vano: porque primeramente os he entregado lo que asimismo recibí, que Cristo murió por nuestros pecados según las Escrituras; y que fue sepultado, y que resucitó al tercer día, conforme a las Escrituras.”

Hebreos 2:9: “Pero vemos a Jesús, quien por un corto tiempo fue hecho más bajo que los ángeles por el sufrimiento de la muerte, coronado de gloria y honor, para que él, por la gracia de Dios, debería gustar la muerte por cada hombre.”

Conclusión

¿Qué hay de tí? ¿Has creído en el Señor Jesucristo, te has arrepentido de tus pecados y lo has invitado a entrar en tu vida para salvarte? Si no, ¿por qué no hacerlo hoy?

La Biblia dice que si nos arrepentimos de nuestros pecados y creemos que Jesús murió por nuestros pecados y resucitó de entre los muertos al tercer día, y también invitamos a Jesús a nuestro corazón para que nos salve, ¡entonces seremos salvados!

Lucas 13:3: Jesús dijo: “Os digo que no; pero, a menos que te arrepientas, todos pereceréis igualmente.”

Romanos 10:9, 12-13: “Si confesarás con tu boca al Señor Jesús, y creerás en tu corazón que Dios le levantó de los muertos, tú serás salvado:.... Porque no hay diferencia entre el judio y el gentil: porque el mismo Señor sobre todo es rico a todos los que le invocan: porque está escrito, “Cualquiera que llamará sobre el Nombre del Señor será salvado.”

¡No hay otro Camino al Cielo cuando mueres, excepto a través del Señor Jesucristo!

Juan 14:6: “Jesús le dice: ‘Yo soy el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida: nadie viene al Padre, sino a través de mí.’”

Si desea conocer al único Dios verdadero como tu Salvador personal, y saber con certeza que tú irás al Cielo cuando tú mueras, en lugar del Infierno, tú puedes orar esta oración para ser salvado:

“Señor Jesús, sé que he pecado contra TI. ¡No soy bueno y tú eres justo! Creo que moriste en la cruz por mis pecados, fuiste enterrado y resucitaste de entre los muertos al tercer día. Quiero que vengas a mi vida y seas mi Señor y Salvador. Por favor entra en mi corazón ahora mismo. Perdóname por todos mis pecados y salva mi alma. En el poderoso Nombre de Jesús, oro, ¡Amén!”
