Romans, Chapter 2.1: Both Jews and Gentiles have rejected the one true God and will be judged by the Old Covenant Law of Moses (1:1 - 2:16)

§Unique Introduction: The exalted positions of the Apostle Paul and of the saints in Rome (1:1 - 7)

¶Opposite Paul was a servant of Jesus Christ and was called his Apostle (1:1 - 4)

¶Opposite The believers in Rome were beloved of God and were called his saints (1:5 - 7)

§Complement Body: Sinners are condemned to Hell before a holy and righteous God (1:8 - 2:4)

¶Opposite Paul longed to go to the saints in Rome to teach them the Word of God (1:8 - 12)

In this study, we will examine the first two paragraphs of the Body section.

Unique First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is being proclaimed throughout the whole world.

Complement For God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the Gospel of his Son, that without ceasing, I make mention of you always in my prayers;

Complement making request, if somehow, now finally, I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come to you.

Opposite For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, to the goal that you may be established;

Opposite that is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith of both you and me.

Comments: Notice the Golden Ratio design of the subparagraphs of this paragraph: one unique, two complements, and two opposites. The next paragraph has the opposite design.

Paul longed to go to the saints in Rome to teach them the Word of God; and “the saints in Rome” included every born again believer in Christ in that area.

Unique First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is being proclaimed throughout the whole world.

Some have interpreted this text to say that the faith of the believers in Rome was so amazing that practically the entire world was talking about them and their faith.

But that doesn’t make any sense, especially coming from Paul. I’m sure that Paul wasn’t trying to flatter them and tell them how wonderful their faith was.

I believe that the correct sense is that Paul was saying that “your faith” (that is, the faith of Jesus Christ as the crucified and risen from the dead Son of God, who can save those who repent and believe in Him as their personal Savior): that faith (that is to say, the Gospel of Jesus Christ) was being proclaimed (or preached) throughout the Roman world at that time.

And certainly that was true! Paul himself had carried the Gospel from the church in Antioch of Syria to every corner of the area around the eastern Mediterranean sea: the island of Crete, Asia Minor (modern day Turkey), and Greece.

And Paul was not the only Christian missionary in those days.

Mark 16:20: “And they went forth; and they preached the Gospel everywhere: the Lord working with them, and confirming the Word with signs following. Amen.”

All of the Apostles carried the Gospel to many lands:

1) Andrew preached the Gospel in the area of eastern Europe

2) Matthew is believed to have traveled to Syria, Media, Persia, Parthia and even Ethiopia. Many Christian churches in Ethiopia claim Matthew as their founder.

3) Matthias preached at Pontine Ethiopia (presently Western Georgia) and Macedonia. Some say that Matthias was not really an apostle, because he was chosen by lot after Judas Iscariot died; so he was only an apostle because the other apostles just wanted to round out their group to twelve again and he wasn’t really an apostle chosen by Christ. And Christ actually chose the new twelfth apostle, Saul of Tarsus, on the road to Damascus, so the true number of Apostles is twelve, not thirteen (which is an evil number, so thirteen apostles doesn’t make sense to me). I believe this line of reasoning is correct. However, Matthias was busy for God and preached the Gospel just like the other apostles, so it’s really an academic argument. God knows the complete answer.

4) Bartholomew reached in Ethiopia, Mesopotamia, Parthia (in modern Iran), Lycaonia (in modern Turkey), and Armenia. The apostle is said to have been flayed and beheaded.

5) Simon preached the Gospel in Egypt and then joined the apostle St. Judas (Thaddaeus) in Persia; reportedly, he was martyred by being cut in half with a saw.

6) Peter was the apostle to the Jews and ministered to the Jews in exile in Asia Minor (1 Peter 1:1)

7) James the brother of John was martyred with the sword by king Herod in Jerusalem (Acts 12:1-2)

8) John ministered to churches in Asia Minor and was boiled in oil but survived to write the Revelation about 90 A.D.

9) Philip ministered to Greek-speaking churches

10) Thomas went to India to preach the Gospel there.

11) James the Less traveled to Spain to preach the Gospel there. There are various traditions, but this one is possible.

12) Judas Thaddeus went to Armenia, and is still known today as the apostle to the Arminians.

13) Simon the zealot is reported to have accompanied Judaas Thaddeus.

In 645 A.D., the Gospel was carried to China by Nestorian missionaries. Their theology had errors, so this led to multiplication of false believers. This was a problem in the centuries after the apostles, because Christian leaders started to innovate new doctrines such as infant baptism (associated with state religion), salvation by works, Arian theology (Jesus is not God, e.g. the Jehovah’s Witnesses heresy of today); and they began changing the Bible to suit their Arian theology (Origen in Egypt and the Sinaiticus manuscript). This is never a good thing, because when the Word of God is changed, it becomes the words of men, which always go astray from the Lord; and this fosters the multiplication of sin and evil within churches that claim to be Christian.

The Roman Catholic religion was a state religion, which is not Biblical Christianity; at first, the Roman emperor ruled the Catholic church; but when the Roman emperors failed, the popes became the emperors. So instead of preaching the Gospel to win sinners to the faith of Christ, it became “become a Christian by baptism; or else!” with the power of the Roman empire, soldiers, money, and the sword to back up that threat.

So the Catholic religion became a great Whore (Revelation 17) and a cesspool of wickedness. The true Christians (Anabaptists, Montanists, Cathars, Albigenses, Waldenses and many others) were chased into the mountains of Europe where they translated the Bible into their languages, and they preached the Gospel on the streets of the cities; but at the risk of their lives.

It is true that some of their theology was faulty; however, what the popes really hated was that the Anabaptists preached that sinners had to be born again through faith in Christ; and when they were born again, they had to be baptized in deep water!

This is a problem for the Roman Catholic religion, because they teach that a sinner can become a Christian merely by being baptized in the church; the water washes away the sin, and voila, a Christian is made! No need for repentance and faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross! Just join the church, let the priest sprinkle water on the head, and you’re on your way to Heaven!

The babies were already baptized by the Roman Catholic religion, so when they grew up and believed the Gospel and were baptized, the Popes claimed that they were being baptized again (anabaptist means baptize again); but this was not true, since infant baptism is not Biblical baptism. But their baptism as believers was an attack on Roman Catholicism, because it was a repudiation of infant baptism! So the popes tried to stop it with persecution: burning men and women at the stake, and doing all kinds of evil things to them with torture to get them to renounce their faith in Christ and return to Catholicism. All of this proves that Catholicism is not Biblical Christianity! It is an evil cult, that led the Reformers to correctly call the popes “antichrists”, which they are. The point is that these Christian missionaries were a threat to the power of Rome, because if a sinner did not need “the Church (of Rome)” to save them, then that was a threat to the income stream of the popes! Fewer church members = less money and less power; and so the popes declared these Christians to be heretics and burned at the stake; and tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of Christians were killed by the sword and fire over the period that we know today as “the Dark Ages”.

The evil influence of the Roman Catholic religion suppressed both science and the Bible: if you were found with a copy of the Bible in your possession, you could be burned at the stake for “treason” and “heresy”! They can’t do that anymore in the United States because our Constitution allows for freedom of speech and freedom of religion. No wonder the Left wants to destroy the US Constitution!

It is not a coincidence that when the Bible began to be published in the language of the people, and the tyranny of the popes began to fade, then science and the arts also began to flourish as well, because the Word of God and the Gospel brings the True Light and knowledge, not darkness and tyranny! Amen.

John 1:1-9: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and God was the Word; the same Word was in the beginning with God. All things came into existence through him; and apart from him not even one thing was created of all that was created. In him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men; and the Light shines in the darkness, but the darkness comprehended it not.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John; the same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light; but was sent to bear witness of the Light; that was the True Light, which lights every man that comes into the world.”

Isaac Newton was a Bible-believing Christian, and also discovered Calculus and laid the foundations for classical mechanics; and today we are still studying these things in college.

The tyranny of the popes created a great spiritual darkness in Europe for hundreds of years! But God broke this tyranny with the development of the printing press in 1436 in Europe.

Gutenberg made the first printed Bible in Europe; and this opened the door for other translations, such as Tyndale’s translation, Luther’s “New Testament”, Calvin’s Geneva Bible in English, and the King James version in 1611.

These new Bible versions spread among the common people; and the result of this new knowledge of the Word of God was that people began to question the authority and the doctrines of the pope! And that led to the spread of Protestantism and the rise of the Reformation movement against Catholicism.

But the leaders of the Reformation (Martin Luther, Calvin, Zwingli etc) were not interested in going all the way back to the apostles for their doctrines; they wanted to keep infant baptism and the institutions of a state religion, like Roman Catholicism.

Infant baptism and state religion go together, you see. If you want everyone in a nation to become part of the state religion, then you force every baby to be baptized or initiated into the state religion when they are born. That way, everyone is a member of the State religion.

But if you believe the Bible, that the only proper candidates for water baptism are those who have repented of their sins and accepted Christ as their Savior, then infant baptism and a state religion is unacceptable. Therefore, the Baptists became the enemies of both Protestants and Catholics; and they were persecuted to the death in many places in Europe.

Therefore, the Baptists and other persecuted groups (like the Quakers) fled to the American continent so that they could preach the Gospel without persecution and live their lives according to the Bible and their own conscience. Thus, the United States was created by Christians and those who wanted to live free from domination by the king of England and other tyrants in Europe.

Christians in the United States have sent hundreds of thousands of missionaries to all parts of the world since those days. Unfortunately, Satan has succeeded in corrupting all mainline Protestant churches and even some Baptist groups with sin and false doctrine. Women and even homosexuals are allowed to serve as leaders of churches, which is an abomination to the Lord!

Among other non-Protestant groups (Baptists are not Protestants, because they were never part of Roman Catholicism), there are still many good churches (almost all Fundamental Baptist or something similar); however, Christians need to be aware of the apostasy that infects many churches. I don’t have time to go into those here in detail, but basically the value system and rock music of “the world” has been brought into many churches, especially Pentecostal, Charismatic, and community-type churches. Also Calvinism is another dangerous trend in many otherwise good churches, because it threatens evangelism and encourages Christians to do nothing for God. Rock music and even the occult is very popular in fringe movement churches; but solid Bible teaching and the Gospel are rare.

We must return to the Bible as the center of our faith and values! Only by the Word of God can we have real revival!

And besides teaching the Golden Ratio design of the Bible, that is a main purpose of these studies, to help you (my readers around the world) to understand the Bible in its breadth and height, as only the Golden Ratio design of the Bible can do.

We should also keep in mind that when Paul said “the whole world”, he certainly did not mean the entire planet Earth! He was referring to the Roman empire of that day, which extended around most of the Mediterranean sea and included upper Africa, the island of Britain, and most of Europe. The western hemisphere at that time was unknown to the Romans, as well as much of Asia, and certainly Australia and the islands of the Pacific.

So at the time of the writing of the letter to the Romans, “the world” as Paul knew it, was a very small place by modern standards! The Gospel was not sent to most places in the world until many centuries later.

Naturally, this raises questions like “Why did God abandon the people who lived in the unknown parts of the world? Didn’t God want everyone to go to Heaven when they died?”

We will address those questions in the detailed studies of Romans Chapter 2.4.

¶Opposite Paul was not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ (1:13 - 17)

Opposite Now, I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, that many times I purposed to come to you (but was hindered until now), that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.

Opposite I am a debtor, both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians: both to the wise, and to the foolish.

Complement So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the Gospel to you that are at Rome also.

Complement For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, because it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes: to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile.

Unique For in it, the righteousness of God is revealed from [saving] faith to [mature] faith: as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

Comments: Notice the Golden Ratio design of the subparagraphs of this paragraph: two opposites, two complements, and one unique. It is the opposite design from the previous paragraph, because the theme of the paragraph is the opposite from the first paragraph.

Now Paul expressed his desire to preach the Gospel to them at Rome, and that is exactly what the rest of this Letter to the Romans is all about: the Gospel of Christ, from [saving] faith to [mature] faith.

Paul was not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, because it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes: to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile.

Why the Jews first? Because they were and are the chosen people of God in this world. Even though the Jews as a nation have turned away from their Covenant God since the first century, because they rejected Jesus Christ as their Messiah, some Jews have believed in Christ over the centuries; and especially today, many Jews are turning to Christ today and becoming Messianic Jews. The one true God Jehovah has not forsaken them utterly! His promises to them in the Law of Moses and the Prophets are still valid for them and will all be fulfilled one day soon.

The Gentiles are the beneficiaries of the Gospel which first went to the Jews by Christ, and later, by the Apostles. Because they rejected the Gospel (mostly), God sent the Gospel to the Gentiles; and the Jews have been set aside temporarily until “the fullness of the Gentiles have come in” (Romans 11:25). At that time, the Jews will be restored to favor with God, ahead of the Gentiles. We will continue this discussion in Chapter 2.4.

Unique For in it, the righteousness of God is revealed from [saving] faith to [mature] faith: as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

That is to say, in the Gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed; and it is revealed not only when a sinner is first saved through repentance and faith in the Finished Work of Christ on the cross! No, it is also revealed as the new believer in Christ progresses in his or her spiritual journey of faith in Christ as He becomes more than just their Savior, but also their Lord, Master, and Greatest Friend of all time! Amen.

No one loves like the Lord Jesus Christ! Amen. Not only did He voluntarily go to the cross on Calvary to atone for our sins, but He willingly gave up his Life so that we might have Eternal Life through repentance and faith in His Finished Work of salvation. That is proof that God really loves you and me, amen?

Romans 5:8: “But God demonstrated his love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died in our place.”

2 Corinthians 8:9: “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you, through his poverty, might be rich.”

John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have Everlasting Life.”

John 1:12-13: “But as many as received him, to them gave he authority to become the children of God: even to them that believe on his Name; who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

What an amazing story to tell to the nations! What a privilege to carry that story to every creature under heaven, and tell them the Good News, that Jesus Christ died for their sins, was buried, and rose again from the dead on the third day, so that they might have Eternal Life in Heaven, if only they acknowledge their sins before God, and place their faith and hope for salvation ONLY in the Finished Work of Christ on the cross for them!

To be called of God to carry this Gospel is the highest privilege in the entire world! You would have to step downward to become president of the United States or any other country. It is an honor and a privilege to be entrusted with the most important message that any human being coul ever hear, because ETERNITY is the true reality, my friends! All of us will die one day and have to face the Lord Jesus Christ as our Judge! That is reality. And after that, is either Heaven or Hell, forever and ever and ever! If you have repented and accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, then your home is in Heaven forever; but if not, then your future home is the LAKE OF FIRE! Forever and ever and ever!

The Gospel can change a sinner into a saint instantly when they repent and trust in Christ, with a new future and a new hope for Eternity! Amen. There is a great reward for any believer who makes either preaching the Gospel or personal witnessing to sinners a priority in their life:

John 4:35-38: Jesus said, “Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then harvest comes?’ Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes, and look on the fields: for they are already white unto harvest. And he that reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit into Eternal Life, so that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, ‘One sows, and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor; other men labored, and you have entered into their labors.”

Daniel 12:2-3: “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to Everlasting Life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that are wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness shall shine as the stars forever and ever.”

Romans 1:16-17: “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, because it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes: to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile. For in it, the righteousness of God is revealed from [saving] faith to [mature] faith: as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

If you are a born again Christian, you have a Gospel message that MUST be told, amen! Get some Chick tracts (www.chick.com) and start spreading the Gospel message wherever you go. Many people will read a Chick tract when they will reject all of the others. They are expensive, I know; but worth every penny, because they get results! My favorite tracts are “This was your life”, and “Holy Joe”: classics!

If you are not yet a born again Christian, I urge you right now to repent! Turn away from your false god of “allah”, the false gods of India, of Buddha, of the Roman Catholic religion (Mary and the saints), the false religion of Mormonism and Jehovah’s Witnesses, Masonry, Wicca, Satanism, and liberal churches that claim to be Christian but are in reality not better than the neighborhood social club. There is no hope in these places and religions!

The Quran (17:111) says that allah has no son. The Bible agrees, because the one true God of the Bible has a Son, and his Name is the Lord Jesus Christ! Therefore, “allah” is not God! The same is true for all of the false gods; anyone who follows them will perish in Hell without hope forever.

Isaiah 43:11-12: “I, even I, am Jehovah; and there is no Savior other than me. I have declared the future, and have saved, and I have shown, when there was no strange god among you; therefore you are my witnesses,’ says Jehovah, ‘that I am the true God.”

Even the devils know that Jehovah Elohim has a Son, and they recognized Him in Jesus Christ:

Mark 3:11: “And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him; and they cried, saying, “You are the Son of God!”

I John 2:22-23: “Who is the liar, if not he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist: the one who denies the equality of the Father and the Son. Whosoever denies the Son, does not have the Father; but he that confesses the Son has the Father also.”

The only hope for Eternal Life and peace with God is in the Lord Jesus Christ, who died for you and rose again from the dead on the third day.

Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: NO MAN comes to the Father, but through me” John 14:6.

Here is how you can be saved, IF YOU BELIEVE everything that I just explained. Pray this prayer with all of your heart to receive Christ as your Savior:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against YOU. I am no good, and you are righteous! You are my only hope for salvation! I believe that you died on the cross for my sins, you were buried, and you rose again from the dead on the third day. I want you to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. Please come into my heart right now. Forgive me for all my sins, and save my soul. In the mighty Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen!”

§El complemento Cuerpo: Los pecadores están condenados al infierno ante un Dios santo y justo (1:8 - 2:4)

¶Lo opuesto Pablo deseaba ir a los santos en Roma para enseñarles la Palabra de Dios (1:8 - 12)

Único Primero, doy gracias a mi Dios por medio de Jesucristo por todos ustedes, que vuestra fe está siendo proclamada en todo el mundo.

El complemento Porque Dios es mi testigo, quien yo sirvo en mi espíritu en el Evangelio de su Hijo, que sin cesar, hago mención de ustedes siempre en mis oraciones.

El complemento Haciendo solicitud, si de alguna manera, ahora por fin, yo podría tener un viaje próspero por la voluntad de Dios para venir a ustedes.

Lo opuesto Porque anhelo verlos, que puedo impartir algún don espiritual a ustedes, a la meta para que seáis establecidos;

Lo opuesto esto es, para que yo pueda ser consolado junto con ustedes, por la fe mutua tanto de ustedes y de mí.

Comentarios: Observe el diseño de la proporción áurea de los subpárrafos de este párrafo: uno único, dos complementarios y dos opuestos. El siguiente párrafo tiene el diseño opuesto.

Pablo anhelaba ir a los santos de Roma para enseñarles la Palabra de Dios; y “los santos en Roma” incluían a todos los creyentes en Cristo nacidos de nuevo en esa área.

Único Primero, doy gracias a mi Dios por medio de Jesucristo por todos ustedes, que vuestra fe está siendo proclamada en todo el mundo.

Algunos han interpretado este texto para decir que la fe de los creyentes en Roma era tan asombrosa que prácticamente todo el mundo hablaba de ellos y de su fe.

Pero eso no tiene ningún sentido, especialmente viniendo de Paul. Estoy seguro de que Pablo no estaba tratando de halagarlos y decirles cuán maravillosa era su fe.

Creo que el sentido correcto es que Pablo estaba diciendo que “vuestra fe” (es decir, la fe de Jesucristo como el Hijo de Dios crucificado y resucitado de la muerte, que puede salvar a los que se arrepienten y creen en Él como su Salvador personal): esa fe (es decir, el Evangelio de Jesucristo) estaba siendo proclamada (o predicada) en todo el mundo romano en ese momento.

¡Y ciertamente eso era cierto! Pablo mismo había llevado el Evangelio desde la iglesia en Antioquía de Siria a todos los rincones del área alrededor del mar Mediterráneo oriental: la isla de Creta, Asia Menor (la actual Turquía) y Grecia.

Y Pablo no era el único misionero cristiano en esos días.

Marcos 16:20: “Y ellos salieron; y ellos predicaron el Evangelio en todas partes: el Señor trabajando con ellos, y confirmando la Palabra con señales les siguiendo. Amén”.

Todos los Apóstoles llevaron el Evangelio a muchas tierras:

1) Andrés predicó el Evangelio en el área de Europa del Este

2) Se cree que Mateo viajó a Siria, Media, Persia, Partia e incluso a Etiopía. Muchas iglesias cristianas en Etiopía afirman que Mateo es su fundador.

3) Matthias predicó en Pontine Etiopía (actualmente Georgia occidental) y Macedonia. Algunos dicen que Matías no fue realmente un apóstol, porque fue elegido por sorteo después de la muerte de Judas Iscariote; entonces él era solo un apóstol porque los otros apóstoles solo querían completar su grupo a doce nuevamente y él no era realmente un apóstol elegido por Cristo. Y Cristo en realidad eligió al nuevo duodécimo apóstol, Saulo de Tarso, en el camino a Damasco, por lo que el verdadero número de apóstoles es doce, no trece (que es un número malo, por lo que trece apóstoles no tiene sentido para mí). Creo que esta línea de razonamiento es correcta. Sin embargo, Matthias estaba ocupado por Dios y predicó el Evangelio al igual que los otros apóstoles, por lo que es realmente un argumento académico. Dios sabe la respuesta completa.

4) Bartolomé llegó a Etiopía, Mesopotamia, Partia (en el Irán moderno), Licaonia (en la Turquía moderna) y Armenia. Se dice que el apóstol fue desollado y decapitado.

5) Simón predicó el Evangelio en Egipto y luego se unió al apóstol San Judas (Tadeo) en Persia; según se informa, fue martirizado al ser cortado por la mitad con una sierra.

6) Pedro fue el apóstol de los judíos y ministró a los judíos en el exilio en Asia Menor (1 Pedro 1:1).

7) Santiago, hermano de Juan, fue martirizado a espada por el rey Herodes en Jerusalén (Hechos 12:1-2)

8) Juan ministró a las iglesias en Asia Menor y fue hervido en aceite pero sobrevivió para escribir el Apocalipsis alrededor del año 90 d.C.

9) Felipe ministró a las iglesias de habla griega

10) Tomás fue a la India a predicar el Evangelio allí.

11) Santiago el Menor viajó a España para predicar allí el Evangelio. Hay varias tradiciones, pero esta es posible.

12) Judas Thaddeus fue a Armenia y todavía se le conoce hoy como el apóstol de los arminianos.

13) Se dice que Simón el fanático acompañó a Judaas Thaddeus.

En el año 645 d.C., los misioneros nestorianos llevaron el Evangelio a China. Sus teologías tenían errores, por lo que esto condujo a la multiplicación de los falsos creyentes. Éste fue un problema en los siglos posteriores a los apóstoles, porque los líderes cristianos comenzaron a innovar nuevas doctrinas como el bautismo infantil (asociado con la religión del estado), salvación por obras, teología arriana (Jesús no es Dios, por ejemplo, la herejía de los testigos de Jehová de hoy); y comenzaron a cambiar la Biblia para adaptarla a su teología arriana (Origen en Egipto y el manuscrito del Sinaítico). Esto nunca es bueno, porque cuando la Palabra de Dios es cambiada, se convierte en palabras de hombres, cual siempre se desvían del Señor; y esto fomenta la multiplicación del pecado y el mal dentro de las iglesias que se dicen cristianas.

La religión católica romana era una religión estatal, que no es el cristianismo bíblico; al principio, el emperador romano gobernaba la iglesia católica; pero cuando los emperadores romanos fracasaron, los papas se convirtieron en emperadores. Entonces, en lugar de predicar el Evangelio para ganar a los pecadores a la fe de Cristo, ello se convirtió en “hazte cristiano por el bautismo; ¡o si no!” con el poder del imperio romano, soldados, dinero y la espada para respaldar esa amenaza.

Entonces la religión católica se convirtió en una gran Ramera (Apocalipsis 17) y un pozo negro de maldad. Los verdaderos cristianos (anabautistas, montanistas, cátaros, albigenses, valdenses y muchos otros) fueron perseguidos hasta las montañas de Europa donde tradujeron la Biblia a sus idiomas, y predicaban el Evangelio en las calles de las ciudades; pero a riesgo de sus vidas.

Es cierto que parte de su teología era defectuosa; sin embargo, lo que los papas realmente odiaban era que los anabaptistas predicaran que los pecadores tenían que nacer de nuevo por la fe en Cristo; y cuando nacieron de nuevo, ¡tenían que ser bautizados en aguas profundas!

Éste es un problema para la religión católica romana, porque enseñan que un pecador puede convertirse en cristiano simplemente por ser bautizado en la iglesia; el agua lava el pecado, y listo, ¡se hace cristiano! ¡No hay necesidad de arrepentimiento y fe en la obra terminada de Cristo en la cruz! ¡Solo únase a la iglesia, deje que el sacerdote rocíe agua sobre la cabeza y estará en camino al Cielo!

Los bebés ya fueron bautizados por la religión católica romana, por lo que cuando crecieron y creyeron en el Evangelio y fueron bautizados, los Papas afirmaron que estaban siendo bautizados nuevamente (anabautista significa bautizar de nuevo); pero esto no era cierto, ya que el bautismo de infantes no es un bautismo bíblico. ¡Pero su bautismo como creyentes fue un ataque al catolicismo romano, porque fue un repudio del bautismo de infantes! Entonces los papas trataron de detenerlo con persecución: quemando hombres y mujeres en la hoguera, y haciéndoles todo tipo de maldades con tortura para que renuncien a su fe en Cristo y regresen al catolicismo.

¡Todo esto prueba que el catolicismo no es cristianismo bíblico! Es un culto malvado, que llevó a los reformadores a llamar correctamente a los papas “anticristos”, cual lo son. El punto es que estos misioneros cristianos eran una amenaza para el poder de Roma, porque si un pecador no necesitaba “la Iglesia (de Roma)” para salvarlos, ¡entonces eso era una amenaza para el flujo de ingresos de los papas! Menos miembros de la iglesia = menos dinero y menos poder; y así los papas declararon herejes a estos cristianos y los quemaron en la hoguera; y decenas de miles, quizás cientos de miles de cristianos fueron asesinados a espada y fuego durante el período que conocemos hoy como “las Edades Oscuras”.

La mala influencia de la religión católica romana suprimió tanto la ciencia como la Biblia: si te encontraban con una copia de la Biblia en tu poder, ¡podrías ser quemado en la hoguera por “traición” y “herejía”! Ya no pueden hacer eso en Estados Unidos porque nuestra Constitución permite la libertad de expresión y la libertad de religión. ¡Con razón la izquierda quiere destruir la Constitución de los Estados Unidos!

No es una coincidencia que cuando la Biblia comenzó a publicarse en el idioma del pueblo y la tiranía de los papas comenzó a desvanecerse, entonces la ciencia y las artes también comenzaron a florecer, porque la Palabra de Dios trae la Verdadera Luz y conocimiento, ¡no oscuridad y tiranía! Amén.

Juan 1:1-9: “En el principio era el Verbo, y el Verbo era con Dios, y el Dios era el Verbo; el misma Verbo fue en el principio con Dios. Todo las cosas llegó en la existencia a través de él; y aparte desde él, ni siquiera una cosa fue creada, de todo lo que fue creado. En él estaba la Vida, y la Vida era la Luz de los hombres; y la Luz brilla en la oscuridad, pero la oscuridad no lo comprendió.

Hubo un hombre enviado desde Dios, cuyo nombre era Juan; lo mismo vino para un testigo, para dar testimonio de la Luz, para que todo a través de él pueda creer. Él no era esa Luz; pero fue enviado para dar testimonio de la Luz; aquél era la Luz verdadera, cual ilumina a cada hombre que viene al mundo”.

Isaac Newton era un cristiano creyente en la Biblia, y también descubrió el cálculo y sentó las bases de la mecánica clásica; y hoy todavía estamos estudiando estas cosas en la universidad.

¡La tiranía de los papas creó una gran oscuridad espiritual en Europa durante cientos de años! Pero Dios rompió esta tiranía con el desarrollo de la imprenta en 1436 en Europa.

Gutenberg hizo la primera Biblia impresa en Europa; y esto abrió la puerta a otras traducciones, como la traducción de Tyndale, el “Nuevo Testamento” de Lutero, la Biblia de Ginebra de Calvino en inglés y la versión rey Santiago en 1611.

Estas nuevas versiones de la Biblia se difundieron entre la gente común; ¡y el resultado de este nuevo conocimiento de la Palabra de Dios fue que la gente comenzó a cuestionar la autoridad y las doctrinas del Papa! Y eso condujo a la expansión del protestantismo y al surgimiento del movimiento de Reforma contra el catolicismo.

Pero los líderes de la Reforma (Martín Lutero, Calvino, Zuinglio, etc.) no estaban interesados en volver a los apóstoles por sus doctrinas; querían mantener el bautismo infantil y las instituciones de una religión estatal, como el catolicismo romano. El bautismo de infantes y la religión del estado van de la mano, ya ves. Si desea que todos en una nación se conviertan en parte de la religión del estado, obliga a todos los bebés a ser bautizados o iniciados en la religión del estado cuando nacen. De esa manera, todos son miembros de la religión del Estado.

Pero si crees en la Biblia, que los únicos candidatos apropiados para el bautismo en agua son aquellos que se han arrepentido de sus pecados y han aceptado a Cristo como su Salvador, entonces el bautismo infantil y una religión estatal son inaceptables. Por lo tanto, los bautistas se convirtieron en enemigos tanto de los protestantes como de los católicos; y fueron perseguidos a muerte en muchos lugares de Europa.

Por lo tanto, los bautistas y otros grupos perseguidos (como los cuáqueros) huyeron al continente americano para poder predicar el Evangelio sin persecución y vivir su vida según la Biblia y su propia conciencia. Por lo tanto, los Estados Unidos fueron creados por cristianos y aquellos que querían vivir libres de la dominación del rey de Inglaterra y otros tiranos en Europa.

Los cristianos en los Estados Unidos han enviado cientos de miles de misioneros a todas partes del mundo desde aquellos días. Desafortunadamente, Satanás ha logrado corromper a todas las principales iglesias protestantes e incluso a algunos grupos bautistas con el pecado y la falsa doctrina. A las mujeres e incluso a los homosexuales se les permite servir como líderes de iglesias, ¡lo cual es una abominación al Señor!

Entre los grupos no protestantes (los bautistas no son protestantes, porque nunca fueron parte del catolicismo romano), todavía hay muchas buenas iglesias (casi todas bautistas fundamentales o algo similar); sin embargo, los cristianos deben ser conscientes de la apostasía que infecta a muchas iglesias. No tengo tiempo para entrar aquí en detalle, pero básicamente el sistema de valores y la música rock de “el mundo” se ha llevado a muchas iglesias, especialmente a las iglesias pentecostales, carismáticas y comunitarias. También el calvinismo es otra tendencia peligrosa en muchas iglesias buenas, porque amenaza el evangelismo y anima a los cristianos a no hacer nada por Dios. La música rock e incluso lo oculto es muy popular en las iglesias de movimientos marginales; pero la enseñanza sólida de la Biblia y el Evangelio son raros.

¡Debemos volver a la Biblia como el centro de nuestra fe y valores! ¡Solo por la Palabra de Dios podemos tener un avivamiento real!

Y además de enseñar el diseño de la Biblia en la Proporción Áurea, ese es el objetivo principal de estos estudios, ayudarlos a ustedes (mis lectores de todo el mundo) a comprender la Biblia en su amplitud y altura, como sólo puede hacerlo el diseño de la proporción áurea de la Biblia.

También debemos tener en cuenta que cuando Pablo dijo “el mundo entero”, ¡ciertamente no se refería a todo el planeta Tierra! Se refería al imperio romano de esa época, que se extendía alrededor de la mayor parte del mar Mediterráneo e incluía la parte superior de África, la isla de Gran Bretaña y la mayor parte de Europa. El hemisferio occidental en ese momento era desconocido para los romanos, así como gran parte de Asia y, ciertamente, Australia y las islas del Pacífico.

Entonces, en el momento en que se escribió la carta a los romanos, “el mundo” como Pablo lo conocía, ¡era un lugar muy pequeño para los estándares modernos! El Evangelio no fue enviado a la mayoría de los lugares del mundo hasta muchos siglos después.

Naturalmente, esto plantea preguntas como “¿Por qué Dios abandonó a las personas que vivían en las partes desconocidas del mundo? ¿No quería Dios que todos fueran al cielo cuando murieran?”

Abordaremos esas preguntas en los estudios detallados de Romanos Capítulo 2.4.

¶Lo opuesto Pablo no fue avergonzaba del evangelio de Cristo (1:13 - 17)

Lo opuesto Ahora, no quiero que seáis ignorantes, hermanos, que muchas veces planeé venir a ustedes (pero estaba obstaculizado hasta ahora), para que yo también tenga algún fruto entre ustedes, incluso como entre los demás gentiles.

Lo opuesto Soy deudor, tanto para los griegos como para los bárbaros: tanto a los sabios, y a los necios.

El complemento Así, tanto como haya en mi, estoy listo para predicar el evangelio a ustedes que estáis en Roma también.

El complemento porque no estoy avergonzado del evangelio de Cristo: porque es el poder de Dios hasta salvación a todos los que creen; al judío primeramente, y también al griego.

Único Porque en ella, la justicia de Dios se revela desde la fe [salvadora] a la fe [madura], como está escrito, “El justo vivirá por la fe.”

¶Lo opuesto Pablo deseaba ir a los santos en Roma para enseñarles la Palabra de Dios (1:8 - 12)

¶Lo opuesto Pablo no fue avergonzaba del evangelio de Cristo (1:13 - 17)

Ahora Pablo expresó su deseo de predicarles el Evangelio en Roma, y eso es exactamente de lo que trata el resto de esta Carta a los Romanos: el Evangelio de Cristo, de la fe [salvadora] a la fe [madura].

Pablo no se avergonzaba del Evangelio de Cristo, porque es poder de Dios hasta salvación a todo aquel que cree: al judío primeramente, y también al gentil.

¿Por qué los judíos primero? Porque fueron y son el pueblo escogido de Dios en este mundo. Aunque los judíos como nación se han alejado de su Dios del Pacto desde el primer siglo, porque rechazaron a Jesucristo como su Mesías, algunos judíos han creído en Cristo a lo largo de los siglos; y especialmente hoy en día, muchos judíos se están volviendo a Cristo y se están convirtiendo en judíos mesiánicos. ¡El único Dios verdadero, Jehová, no los ha abandonado por completo! Sus promesas a ellos en la Ley de Moisés y los Profetas todavía son válidas para ellos y todas se cumplirán pronto.

Los gentiles son los beneficiarios del Evangelio que fue primero a los judíos por Cristo, y luego por los Apóstoles. Debido a que rechazaron el Evangelio (en su mayoría), Dios envió el Evangelio a los gentiles; y los judíos han sido apartados temporalmente hasta que “haya entrado la plenitud de los gentiles” (Romanos 11:25). En ese tiempo, los judíos serán restaurados al favor de Dios, por delante de los gentiles Continuaremos esta discusión en el Capítulo 2.4.

Único Porque en ella, la justicia de Dios se revela desde la fe [salvadora] a la fe [madura], como está escrito, “El justo vivirá por la fe.”

Es decir, en el Evangelio se revela la justicia de Dios; ¡y se revela no solo cuando un pecador se salva por primera vez a través del arrepentimiento y la fe en la obra terminada de Cristo en la cruz! No, también se revela a medida que el nuevo creyente en Cristo progresa en su viaje espiritual de fe en Cristo a medida que Él se convierte en algo más que su Salvador, ¡sino también su Señor, Maestro y Amigo más grande de todos los tiempos! Amén.

¡Nadie ama como el Señor Jesucristo! Amén. No solo fue voluntariamente a la cruz en el Calvario para expiar nuestros pecados, sino que voluntariamente entregó su vida, para que podamos tener Vida Eterna a través del arrepentimiento y la fe en Su Obra Terminada de salvación. Esa es la prueba de que Dios realmente te ama a ti ya mí, ¿amén?

Romanos 5:8: “Pero Dios demostró su amor hacia nosotros, en que, siendo aún pecadores, Cristo murió en nuestro lugar”.

2 Corintios: 8:9: “porque conocéis la gracia de nuestro Señor Jesús Cristo, que aunque era rico, todavía, a causa de ustedes, él se volvió pobre, que ustedes, a través de la pobreza de él, podría ser rico”.

Juan 3:16: “porque Dios amó tanto al mundo, que él dio a su Hijo unigénito, que cualquiera que cree en él no deberían perecer, sino tener Vida Eterna”.

Juan 1:12-13: “Pero a aquellos quien le recibieron, él les dio autoridad para convertirse los niños de Dios: incluso a aquellos quien creen sobre su Nombre; quien nacieron, no de sangre, ni de la voluntad de la carne, ni de la voluntad del hombre, sino de Dios”.

¡Qué increíble historia para contar a las naciones! ¡Qué privilegio llevar esa historia a toda criatura bajo el cielo, y decirles las Buenas Nuevas, que Jesucristo murió por sus pecados, fue sepultado, y resucitó de entre los muertos al tercer día, para que pudieran tener Vida Eterna en Cielo, si tan solo reconocieran sus pecados ante Dios, y pusieran su fe y esperanza de salvación SOLAMENTE en la Obra Terminada de Cristo en la cruz por ellos!

¡Ser llamado por Dios para llevar este Evangelio es el mayor privilegio en el mundo entero! Tendrías que dar un paso hacia abajo para convertirte en presidente de los Estados Unidos o de cualquier otro país. Es un honor y un privilegio que me encomienden el mensaje más importante que cualquier ser humano pueda escuchar, porque la ETERNIDAD es la verdadera realidad, amigos míos. ¡Todos moriremos un día y tendremos que enfrentar al Señor Jesucristo como nuestro Juez! Esa es la realidad. ¡Y después de eso, es el Cielo o el Infierno, por los siglos de los siglos! Si se ha arrepentido y aceptado a Jesucristo como su Salvador personal, entonces su hogar está en el Cielo para siempre; pero si no, ¡entonces su futuro hogar es el LAGO DE FUEGO! ¡Por siempre y siempre y siempre!

¡El Evangelio puede cambiar a un pecador en un santo instantáneamente cuando se arrepiente y confía en Cristo, con un nuevo futuro y una nueva esperanza para la Eternidad! Amén. Hay una gran recompensa para cualquier creyente que haga de la predicación del Evangelio o del testimonio personal a los pecadores una prioridad en su vida:

Juan 4:35-38: Jesús dijo, “¿No decís ustedes, “Aún quedan cuatro meses; y luego viene la cosecha?’. He aquí, os digo: alzad vuestros ojos y mirad los campos: porque ellos ya son blancos para la cosecha. Y el que siega recibe salario, y recoge fruto para Vida Eterna: para que el que siembra y el que cosecha pueden regocijarse juntos. Y en esto, ese dicho es cierto: “Uno siembra y otro cosecha’. Os envié a cosechar aquello por lo que no habéis trabajado; otros hombres trabajaron, y ustedes habéis entrado en sus labores”.

Daniel 12:2-3: “Y muchos de los que duermen en el polvo de la tierra serán despertados, unos para Vida Eterna, y otros para vergüenza y confusión perpetua. Y los que son sabios resplandecerán como el resplandor del firmamento; y ellos que giran muchos a la justicia, brillarán como las estrellas por los siglos de los siglos”.

Romanos 1:16-17: “porque no estoy avergonzado del evangelio de Cristo: porque es el poder de Dios hasta salvación a todos los que creen; al judío primeramente, y también al griego. Porque en ella, la justicia de Dios se revela desde la fe [salvadora] a la fe [madura], como está escrito, “El justo vivirá por la fe”.

Si eres un cristiano nacido de nuevo, tienes un mensaje del Evangelio que DEBE ser dicho, ¡amén! Obtenga algunos tratados de Chick (www.chick.com) y comience a difundir el mensaje del Evangelio donde quiera que vaya. Muchas personas leerán un tratado de Chick cuando rechazarán todos los demás. Si aún no eres un cristiano nacido de nuevo, ¡te insto ahora mismo a que te arrepientas! Volver la cara desde tu falso dios de “Allah”, los falsos dioses de la India, de Buda, de la religión católica romana (María y los santos), la falsa religión del mormonismo y los testigos de Jehová, la masonería, la Wicca, el satanismo, e iglesias liberales que dicen ser cristianas pero que en realidad no son mejores que el club social del vecindario. ¡No hay esperanza en estos lugares y religiones!

El Corán (17:111) dice que Alá no tiene hijos. ¡La Biblia está de acuerdo, porque el único Dios verdadero de la Biblia tiene un Hijo, y su Nombre es el Señor Jesucristo! ¡Por lo tanto, “Allah” no es Dios! Lo mismo es cierto para todos los dioses falsos; cualquiera que los siga perecerá en el Infierno sin esperanza para siempre.

Isaías 43:11-12: “Yo, incluso yo, soy Jehová; y no hay otro Salvador que yo. He declarado el futuro, y he salvado, y he mostrado, cuando no había dios extraño entre ustedes; por lo tanto, ustedes son mis testigos,’ dice Jehová, ‘de que yo soy el Dios verdadero’”.

Hasta los demonios saben que Jehová Elohim tiene un Hijo, y lo reconocieron en Jesucristo:

Marcos 3:11: “Y los espíritus inmundos, al verle, se postraban delante de él, y daban voces, diciendo, “¡Tú eres el Hijo de Dios!”

I Juan 2:22-23: “¿Quién es el mentiroso, si no él que niegue que Jesús es el Cristo? Éste es Anticristo, el que niega la igualdad del Padre y del Hijo. Cualquiera que niega al Hijo, él no tiene al Padre; sino él que confiesa al Hijo también tiene al Padre”.

La única esperanza de Vida eterna y paz con Dios está en el Señor Jesucristo, que murió por vosotros y resucitó de entre los muertos al tercer día.

Juan 14:6 “Jesús le dice: Yo soy el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida: nadie viene al Padre, sino por mí”.

Así es como puede ser salvado, SI TÚ CREE todo lo que acabo de explicar. Haz esta oración con todo tu corazón para recibir a Cristo como tu Salvador:

“Señor Jesús, sé que he pecado contra TI. ¡No soy bueno y tú eres justo! Creo que moriste en la cruz por mis pecados, fuiste enterrado y resucitaste de entre los muertos al tercer día. Quiero que vengas a mi vida y seas mi Señor y Salvador. Por favor entra en mi corazón ahora mismo. Perdóname por todos mis pecados y salva mi alma. En el poderoso Nombre de Jesús, oro, ¡Amén!”
