Romans, Chapter 2.1: Both Jews and Gentiles have rejected the one true God and will be judged by the Old Covenant Law of Moses (1:1 - 2:16)

In this study, we will examine the two paragraphs of the introduction.

§Unique Introduction: The exalted positions of the Apostle Paul and of the saints in Rome (1:1 - 7)

¶Opposite Paul was a servant of Jesus Christ and was called his Apostle (1:1 - 4)

Unique Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called an Apostle,

Complement separated to the Gospel of God (which he had promised before by his Prophets in the Holy Scriptures);

Complement concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord;

Opposite who was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

Opposite and was declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of Holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.

Comments: The theme of the introduction is “The exalted positions of the Apostle Paul and of the saints in Rome (1:1 - 7)”. Let’s take a look at what that means.

Paul declares that the entire purpose of his life is the Gospel of God, that was promised before by his Prophets in the Holy Scriptures.

And the Gospel of God is all about his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Notice the Golden Ratio outline of this paragraph: one unique, two complements, and two opposites. The introduction and conclusion sections in the Bible can often be divided like this.

In order to really appreciate it, you have to understand parsing of the Greek text, which divides the text into the main clause, then the dependent clauses are shown as separate offshoots. That is what we are seeing here in the Golden Ratio design.

But I have found that this kind of division of small pieces of text into separate subparagraphs only rarely occurs in the Body section.

In other words, Paul considered the highest calling possible for him to be called to be an Apostle and separated to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Today, God does not call anyone to be an apostle, because that office only belonged to those who lived and walked with the Lord Jesus in his lifetime:

Acts 1:21-22: “Therefore of these men who have been with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John, to that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.”

The Apostle Paul was a special exception to this rule, but with a twist: Paul spent three years in Arabia (a reference to Mount Sinai) after his salvation, being trained personally by the risen Lord Jesus Christ!

Galatians 1:11-12: “But I certify you, brethren, that the Gospel which was preached by me is not after man: for I neither received it from man; neither was I taught it. But I received it through the direct manifestation of Jesus Christ.”

Galatians 1:15-18: “But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood; neither did I go up to Jerusalem to them who were Apostles before me, but I went into Arabia, and later returned again to Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and stayed with him fifteen days.”

The Apostle Paul was specially chosen by the Lord Jesus to be his leading Apostle and chief teacher of the Gospel to all Christians from that day forward. To that end, God used Paul to author 14 letters of Holy Scripture to the churches: Hebrews, Romans, 1 & 2 Corinthians, 1 & 2 Thessalonians, 1 & 2 Timothy, Galatians, Collossians, Ephesians, Philippians, Philemon, and Titus.

Paul also stated that God had called him to be the Apostle to the Gentiles:

Romans 11:13: “For I speak to you Gentiles, seeing that I am the Apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify my office...”

Romans 15:15-16: “Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly to you in part, as reminding you, because of the grace that is given to me by God, that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the Gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.”

Galatians 2:7-8: “But conversely, when they saw that the Gospel of the uncircumcision was committed to me, as the Gospel of the circumcision was to Peter (for he that worked effectively in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles)”

God used the Apostle Peter to author only two letters to the churches, and Peter was the Apostle to the Jews, not to the Gentiles:

Then why does the Roman Catholic religion claim that Peter was the first pope and the first “Bishop of Rome”? They say that because they need a fig leaf to support their claim that the pope should rule the world and especially all Christians; and they base it on Matthew 16:18, where Jesus said that He would give the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven to Peter:

Matthew 16:17-19: “And Jesus answered and said to him, “You are blessed, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father, who is in Heaven. And also I say to you, that you are a small pebble; but upon this foundation Rock will I build my Assembly; and the gates of Hell shall not withstand it. And I will give to you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven; and whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven; and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven.”

But there is a big problem with this claim, because the Greek word behind the word “Rock” in his statement “upon this foundation Rock I will build my Assembly” is “Petra” or “Foundation Rock”, such as bedrock; and when He said to Peter, “You are a small pebble”: the Greek word for Peter is “Petros”, a different word for rock that means “small pebble”, like you might find on a beach.

So the Lord Jesus was not saying that Peter was the Foundation Rock that He would build his Assembly upon! Instead, the Foundation Rock was the profession of faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God that Peter had made.

And that is how we receive new members into our churches! We invite people to join our church who profess that they believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God; isn’t that right? Yes! It has nothing whatsoever to do with Peter the Apostle. Our Bible-believing churches are literally built upon professions of faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God; a faith that is based on the Bible as the Word of God, taken at face value! Our Bible-believing churches are NOT built upon Peter the Apostle or any claims related to the church of Rome.

So based on the words of Jesus and a more literal translation of Matthew 16:17-19 in the Kingdom Study Bible than you will usually find in most Bible versions (because their translation committees often had either Catholics or Protestants who accept the false claims of the popes), the Bible text that the Catholic religion claims to provide support for their view that Peter was the first pope turns out to be sand, and not solid rock after all.

A “true church” is one that is based upon the descriptions of a church (or, an Assembly) that is found in the pages of Holy Scripture, the Bible, such as I Timothy: a letter that the Apostle Paul wrote for the specific purpose of explaining in detail what a Bible-believing church should look like.

So, if your church follows the pattern set in 1 Timothy and the doctrines in all other teaching letters of the apostles, then your church can be said to be an Apostolic, Biblical church (aka an independent Fundamental Baptist church): a true church that descends from the teaching of the Apostles. It has nothing to do with whether your pastor has authority that descends from Peter the Apostle, because Peter was never a “bishop of Rome”, and the title of Pope is not a Biblical title or calling.

In fact, there were popes in Rome before Christ was born! They were called “Pontifex Maximus” and they were pagans who worshiped the devil!

“The pontifex maximus (Latin for “supreme pontiff”) was the chief high priest of the College of Pontiffs (Collegium Pontificum) in ancient Rome. This was the most important position in the ancient Roman religion, open only to patricians until 254 BC, when a plebeian first occupied this post. Although in fact the most powerful office in the Roman priesthood, the pontifex maximus was officially ranked fifth in the ranking of the highest Roman priests (ordo sacerdotum), behind the rex sacrorum and the flamines maiores (Flamen Dialis, Flamen Martialis, Flamen Quirinalis).” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontifex_maximus

The Catholic popes wickedly appropriated this title for themselves, as a sign of their arrogance and pride. This has long been a Roman Catholic practice, to bring devil worshipers into the Catholic religion by importing their gods and giving them new names; it is called “syncretism”.

But this is wickedness! You cannot marry the devil with the Lord Jesus Christ! When Satan is brought into a church, he does not begin serving Jesus; instead, he takes over the church and corrupts it with evil doctrines (idolatry e.g. worship of Mary and the saints) and evil works, such as fornication, pedophilia, and adultery.

The practice of syncretism proves that Roman Catholicism is not a true Christian church according to the Scriptures! Amen.

2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1: “Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what part has he that believes with an infidel? And what agreement has the Temple of God with idols? For all of you are a Temple of the Living God; as God has said, “I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God; and they shall be my people.” “‘THEREFORE COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM, AND BE SEPARATE,’ says the Lord; ‘and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father to you; and you shall be my sons and daughters,’ says the Lord Almighty.” Therefore having these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit; perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

So the Apostle Paul was the number one teacher among all of the apostles, and God chose him to write the most important letter in all of the Bible on the doctrine of Salvation. If you want to understand the doctrine of Salvation, the Letter to the Romans is the place in the Bible where you should go to understand it “from [saving] faith to [mature] faith”. What a great privilege for the Apostle Paul, to be chosen by God to this most important ministry for all believers under the New Covenant!

Secondly, the last two subparagraphs in this paragraph have opposing themes, which are declarations of the two natures of Jesus Christ:

1) The humanity of Jesus was made of the seed of David according to the flesh.

2) The Deity of Jesus is that He is the Son of God

So the Bible clearly states that the Person of Jesus Christ is completely unique in the history of the world; Jesus is the God-Man: Almighty God and a sinless man in the same Person.

The full title of Jesus is “The Lord Jesus Christ”.

1 Peter 1:3: “Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ...”

“Lord” = He is God.

“Jesus” = He is Man

“Christ” = He is the God-Man.

¶Opposite The believers in Rome were beloved of God and were called his saints (1:5 - 7)

Opposite By whom, we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the Faith among all nations for his Name

Opposite (among whom, you also are the called of Jesus Christ):

Complement to all that are in Rome,

Complement beloved of God, called saints:

Unique Grace to you and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Comments: Now this paragraph speaks of the great calling of the believers in Rome:

1) They were called by Jesus Christ to salvation.

2) They were called “beloved of God, called saints”.

Now this text reveals another lie that is taught by the Roman Catholic religion: the pope claims to have the power to make believers into “saints”! And supposedly, the pope makes believers into saints after they are dead!

But this is obviously false, because the Bible says that all of the believers in the church in Rome at that time were “saints”; and all of these saints were still alive!

But where was the pope? Did Peter make anyone into a saint, according to the Bible? Of course not! Peter never made any such claim in either of his two letters, and the Book of Acts and none of the other letters of the Apostles either hint at or make any such claim.

Every born again believer in Jesus Christ is called a saint in the Bible. This is a reference to his/her standing before God as “in Christ”:

2 Corinthians 1:1: “Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy the brother; unto the Assembly of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:”

Sometimes it is followed by “and to the faithful brethren in Christ:” Colossians 1:2, or something similar.

The “and” is the Greek word “kai”, which can be translated in a number of different ways, depending on the context. In this case, the word should be understood as “even”, rather than “and”; so that it reads:

Colossians 1:1-2b: “Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, to the saints in Colosse, even to the faithful brethren in Christ:”

In this light, “the saints” and “the faithful brethren” are one and the same. The Roman Catholic religion has attempted to make a distinction between “faithful brethren” and the “saints” to justify the supposed authority of the popes to make saints by a decree; but this is a false interpretation that is not based on Scripture!

In fact, the word “pope” doesn’t even appear in the Bible! Paul listed the officers of a Biblical Christian church in 1 Timothy 3:1-13: Overseers (translated as “Bishops” in some translations) and deacons. Paul didn’t say anything about priests, popes, Cardinals, monks, nuns, or friars. Neither did he say anything about Rosary beads, crucifixes, Mary the mother of Jesus, or any of the other nonsense that poses as Catholic doctrines. All of those things were invented out of thin air by arrogant and wicked men whose claim to be a pope was based on a complete lie! So everything that they said from that time forward cannot be trusted.

The only exception would be, as I stated earlier, the council decisions from 325 A.D. (the Council of Nicea) to 553 A.D. (the Second Council of Constantinople) about the doctrines of theology with respect to the Trinity and the Person of Christ in particular. These were decisions that were arrived at by consent of many theologians of different churches; and they were not only papal decrees. But after the fifth century, the popes in Rome became emperors and also became increasingly corrupt and demonic.

These decisions were also based on reasoning that was sound and biblical, so Bible-believing Baptists and Protestants (especially the leaders of the Reformation) generally agree with their decisions on these things.

Bible-believing Baptists, Protestants, and even Catholics (traditional) can generally agree on the core docrines of Christianity with respect to the Person of Christ and the Trinity. But when we begin to discuss doctrines outside of that core, such as salvation, then there is a great divergence between Catholicism and Baptists in particular, because Roman Catholicism is a religion of works that teaches you to do good works to attain salvation, such as join their church, be baptized, be faithful to church services, and receive extreme unction before death (which supposedly removes any sins that were not already forgiven, which is impossible according to Scripture). No one can be saved by works; the Bible makes that very clear:

Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace you have been permanently saved through faith; and that faith is not out of yourselves: it is the gift of God; not of our own works, lest any man should boast”

Sadly, today the Protestants of the Great Reformation have backslidden into the works salvation of Roman Catholicism once again, except for a very few remnants.

But Bible believing (i.e. Fundamental) Baptists believe the Bible! We believe what the Bible says, that the Finished Work of Christ is sufficient to save us to the uttermost, if we repent and place all of our hope for salvation in what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross, and ask Him to come into our hearts to save us.

Romans 10:8-13: “But what does it say? “The Word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart”; that is to say, the Word of faith (which we preach), that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved: for with the heart, man believes into righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made into salvation: for the Scripture says, “Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.” For there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him: for it is written, “whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”

I did that almost 41 years ago! And I’m so glad that I did! Amen.

John 14:6 “Jesus says to him, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man comes to the Father, except through me.”

The Quran (17:111) says that allah has no son. The Bible agrees, because the one true God of the Bible has a Son, and his Name is the Lord Jesus Christ! Therefore, “allah” is not God! The same is true for all of the false gods; anyone who follows them will perish in Hell without hope forever.

Isaiah 43:11-12: “I, even I, am Jehovah; and there is no Savior other than me. I have declared the future, and have saved, and I have shown, when there was no strange god among you; therefore you are my witnesses,’ says Jehovah, ‘that I am the true God.”

Even the devils know that Jehovah Elohim has a Son, and they recognized Him in Jesus Christ:

Mark 3:11: “And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him; and they cried, saying, “You are the Son of God!”

I John 2:22-23: “Who is the liar, if not he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist: the one who denies the equality of the Father and the Son. Whosoever denies the Son, does not have the Father; but he that confesses the Son has the Father also.”

Also, those who claimed to be a Christian (whether they are Baptist, Protestant, or Roman Catholic, but they also denied these same truths from the Word of God and trusted in their good works to save them) also went to Hell when they died!

Matthew 7:21-23: Jesus said, “Not every one that says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but only he that does the will of my Father, who is in Heaven. Many will say to me in that day, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your Name? And in your Name have cast out demons? And in your Name done many wonderful works?’ And then will I profess to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you that work iniquity.’”

Here is how you can be saved, IF YOU BELIEVE everything that I just explained. Pray this prayer with all of your heart to receive Christ as your Savior:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against YOU. I am no good, and you are righteous! You are my only hope for salvation! I believe that you died on the cross for my sins, you were buried, and you rose again from the dead on the third day. I want you to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. Please come into my heart right now. Forgive me for all my sins, and save my soul. In the mighty Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen!”

Hechos 1:21-22: “Por lo tanto, de estos hombres que han estado con nosotros todo el tiempo que el Señor Jesús entró y salió entre nosotros, comenzando desde el bautismo de Juan, hasta el mismo día que fue tomado arriba desde nosotros, uno debe ser ordenado para ser un testigo con nosotros de su resurrección.”

El apóstol Pablo fue una excepción especial a esta regla, pero con un giro: Pablo pasó tres años en Arabia (una referencia al Monte Sinaí) después de su salvación, siendo entrenado personalmente por el Señor Jesucristo resucitado.

Gálatas 1:11-12: “Pero os certifico, hermanos, que el evangelio que fue predicado por mi, no es según hombre: porque yo ni lo recibí desde hombre, ni tampoco me fue enseñado, sino lo recibí a través de la manifestación directa de Jesucristo”.

Gálatas 1:15-18: “Pero cuando agradó a Dios, que me apartó desde el vientre de mi madre, y me llamó por su gracia, revelar a su Hijo en mí, para que yo le predicase entre los gentiles; no consulté en seguida con carne y sangre; ni subí a Jerusalén a los que eran Apóstoles antes que yo; sino que fui a Arabia, y volví de nuevo a Damasco. Después, pasados tres años, subí a Jerusalén a ver a Pedro, y permanecí con él quince días”.

El Apóstol Pablo fue elegido especialmente por el Señor Jesús para ser su Apóstol principal y principal maestro del Evangelio para todos los cristianos a partir de ese día. Con ese fin, Dios usó a Pablo para escribir 14 cartas de la Sagrada Escritura a las iglesias: Hebreos, Romanos, 1 y 2 Corintios, 1 y 2 Tesalonicenses, 1 y 2 Timoteo, Gálatas, Colosenses, Efesios, Filipenses, Filemón y Tito.

Pablo también declaró que Dios lo había llamado a ser el Apóstol de los gentiles:

Romanos 11:13: “Porque os hablo gentiles, viendo que soy el Apóstol de los gentiles, yo magnifico mi oficio...”

Romanos 15:15-16: “No obstante, hermanos, os he escrito con más audacia en parte, como recordándoos; a causa de la gracia que me es dada por Dios, que yo debería ser el ministro de Jesucristo a los gentiles, ministrando el Evangelio de Dios, que la ofrenda de los gentiles podría ser aceptable, siendo santificada por el Espíritu Santo”.

Gálatas 2:7-8: “Pero a la inversa, cuando vieron que me había sido encomendado el evangelio de la incircuncisión, como el Evangelio de la circuncisión lo fue para Pedro (porque el que en Pedro obró eficazmente para el apostolado de la circuncisión, ése fue poderoso en mí para con los gentiles)”.

Dios usó al apóstol Pedro para escribir solo dos cartas a las iglesias, y Pedro fue el apóstol de los judíos, no de los gentiles:

Entonces, ¿por qué la religión católica romana afirma que Pedro fue el primer papa y el primer “obispo de Roma”? Dicen eso porque necesitan una hoja de parra para apoyar su afirmación de que el Papa debe gobernar el mundo y especialmente a todos los cristianos; y lo basan en Mateo 16:18, donde Jesús dijo que le daría las llaves del Reino de los Cielos a Pedro:

Mateo 16:17-19: “Y respondiendo Jesús, le dijo, “Bienaventurado eres, Simón hijo de Jonás: porque la carne y la sangre no ha revelado esto a usted, sino mi Padre quien está en el Cielo. Y también yo digo a te que tú eres un guijarro pequeño, pero sobre esta Roca edificaré mi Asamblea, y las puertas del Infierno no será capaz resistirlo. Y te daré las llaves del Reino del Cielo; y todo lo que ates en la tierra será atado en el Cielo; y todo que usted suelte sobre la Tierra será soltará en el Cielo”.

Pero hay un gran problema con esta afirmación, porque la palabra griega detrás de la palabra “Roca” en su declaración “sobre este fundamento Roca edificaré mi Asamblea” es “Petra” o “Fundamento Roca”, como lecho rocoso; y cuando le dijo a Pedro: “Eres un pequeño guijarro”: la palabra griega para Pedro es “Petros”, una palabra diferente para roca que significa “pequeño guijarro”, como lo que podrías encontrar en una playa.

¡Así que el Señor Jesús no estaba diciendo que Pedro era la Roca Fundamental sobre la cual edificaría su Asamblea! En cambio, la Roca Fundamental fue la profesión de fe en Jesucristo como el Hijo de Dios que Pedro había hecho.

¡Y así es como recibimos nuevos miembros en nuestras iglesias! Invitamos a las personas a unirse a nuestra iglesia quien profesan creer en Jesucristo como el Hijo de Dios; ¿no es así? ¡Sí! No tiene nada que ver con el apóstol Pedro.

Nuestras iglesias que creen en la Biblia están construidas literalmente sobre profesiones de fe en Jesucristo como el Hijo de Dios; una fe que se basa en la Biblia como la Palabra de Dios, ¡tomada al pie de la letra! Nuestras iglesias que creen en la Biblia NO están edificadas sobre el Apóstol Pedro ni sobre ningún reclamo relacionado con la iglesia de Roma.

Entonces, basado en las palabras de Jesús, y una traducción más literal de Mateo 16: 17-19 en el Reino Estudio Biblia (REB) de lo que normalmente encontrará en la mayoría de las versiones de la Biblia (porque sus comités de traducción a menudo tenían católicos o protestantes que aceptan las falsas afirmaciones de los papas), el texto de la Biblia que la religión católica afirma brindar apoyo a su opinión de que Pedro fue el primer papa resulta ser arena y no roca sólida después de todo.

Una “iglesia verdadera” es aquella que se basa en las descripciones de una iglesia (o Asamblea) que se encuentran en las páginas de las Sagradas Escrituras, la Biblia, como I Timoteo: una carta que el apóstol Pablo escribió con el propósito específico de explicar en detalle cómo debe ser una iglesia que cree en la Biblia.

Entonces, si su iglesia sigue el patrón establecido en 1 Timoteo y las doctrinas en todas las demás cartas de enseñanza de los apóstoles, entonces se puede decir que su iglesia es una iglesia bíblica y apostólica (también conocida como una iglesia bautista, fundamental e independiente): una verdadera iglesia que desciende de la enseñanza de los Apóstoles. No tiene nada que ver si tu pastor tiene autoridad que desciende del Apóstol Pedro, porque Pedro nunca fue un “obispo de Roma”, y el título de Papa no es un título o vocación bíblica.

De hecho, ¡había papas en Roma antes de que naciera Cristo! ¡Se llamaban “Pontifex Maximus” y eran paganos que adoraban al diablo!

“El pontifex maximus (en latín, “supremo pontífice”) era el sumo sacerdote principal del Colegio de Pontífices (Collegium Pontificum) en la antigua Roma. Éste fue el puesto más importante de la antigua religión romana, abierto solo a los patricios hasta el 254 a. C., cuando un plebeyo ocupó este puesto por primera vez. Aunque de hecho es el cargo más poderoso del sacerdocio romano, el pontifex maximus ocupó oficialmente el quinto lugar en la clasificación de los sacerdotes romanos más importantes (ordo sacerdotum), detrás del rex sacrorum y el flamines maiores (Flamen Dialis, Flamen Martialis, Flamen Quirinalis).” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontifex_maximus

Los papas católicos se apropiaron perversamente de este título para ellos mismos, como muestra de su arrogancia y orgullo. Esta ha sido durante mucho tiempo una práctica católica romana, traer adoradores del diablo a la religión católica importando sus dioses y dándoles nuevos nombres; se llama “sincretismo”.

¡Pero esto es maldad! ¡No puedes casar al diablo con el Señor Jesucristo! Cuando se trae a Satanás a una iglesia, no comienza a servir a Jesús; en cambio, él se apodera de la iglesia y la corrompe con doctrinas malvadas (idolatría, por ejemplo, adoración de María y los santos) y obras malvadas, como fornicación, pedofilia y adulterio.

¡La práctica del sincretismo prueba que el catolicismo romano no es una verdadera iglesia cristiana según las Escrituras! Amén.

2 Corintios 6:14-7:1: “No os unid en yugo desigual con los incrédulos: porque ¿qué compañerismo tiene la justicia con la injusticia? ¿Y qué comunión la luz con las tinieblas? ¿Y qué concordia Cristo con Belial? ¿O qué parte el creyente con el incrédulo? ¿Y qué acuerdo tiene el Templo de Dios con los ídolos? Porque todos ustedes son un Templo del Dios Vivo; como dios ha dicho, “Habitaré en ellos y caminaré en ellos; y yo seré su Dios; y ellos serán mi pueblo”. “‘Por lo tanto, salid desde entre ellos, y sed separada,’ dice el Señor, ‘y no toquéis la cosa inmunda; y yo os recibiré, y seré Padre a ustedes, y ustedes me seréis hijos e hijas,’ dice el Señor Todopoderoso”. Por lo tanto, amados, teniendo tales promesas, limpiémonos desde toda inmundicia de la carne y del espíritu, perfeccionando la santidad en el temor de Dios”.

Así que el Apóstol Pablo fue el maestro número uno entre todos los apóstoles; y Dios lo escogió para escribir la carta más importante de toda la Biblia sobre la doctrina de la Salvación. Si quieres entender la doctrina de la Salvación, la Carta a los Romanos es el lugar de la Biblia donde debes ir para entenderla “de la fe [salvadora] a la fe [madura]”. ¡Qué gran privilegio para el Apóstol Pablo, ser escogido por Dios para este ministerio tan importante para todos los creyentes bajo el Nuevo Pacto!

En segundo lugar, los dos últimos subpárrafos de este párrafo tienen temas opuestos, que son declaraciones de las dos naturalezas de Jesucristo:

1) La humanidad de Jesús fue hecha de la simiente de David según la carne.

2) La Deidad de Jesús es que Él es el Hijo de Dios.

Entonces la Biblia dice claramente que la Persona de Jesucristo es completamente única en la historia del mundo; Jesús es el Dios-Hombre: Dios Todopoderoso y un hombre sin pecado en la misma Persona.

El título completo de Jesús es “El Señor Jesucristo”.

1 Pedro 1:3: “Bendito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo...”

“Señor” = Él es Dios.

“Jesús” = Él es hombre

“Cristo” = Él es el Dios-Hombre.

¶Lo opuesto Los creyentes en Roma fueron amados por Dios y fueron llamados sus santos (1:5 - 7)

Lo opuesto Por quien, recibimos la gracia y el apostolado, para obediencia a la fe entre todas las naciones por su Nombre

Lo opuesto (entre quien, ustedes también sois los llamados de Jesucristo);

El complemento a todos los que están en Roma,

El complemento amados de Dios, llamados santos:

Único gracia a ustedes y paz, desde Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesús Cristo.

Comentarios: Ahora bien, este párrafo habla del gran llamado de los creyentes en Roma:

1) Fueron llamados por Jesucristo a la salvación.

2) Eran llamados “amados de Dios, llamados santos”.

Ahora bien, este texto revela otra mentira que enseña la religión católica romana: ¡el papa afirma tener el poder de convertir a los creyentes en “santos”! ¡Y supuestamente, el Papa convierte a los creyentes en santos después de muertos!

Pero esto obviamente es falso, porque la Biblia dice que todos los creyentes en la iglesia en Roma en ese tiempo eran “santos”; ¡y todos estos santos todavía estaban vivos! Pero, ¿dónde estaba el Papa? ¿Pedro convirtió a alguien en santo, según la Biblia? ¡Por supuesto que no! Pedro nunca hizo tal afirmación en ninguna de sus dos cartas, y el Libro de los Hechos y ninguna de las otras cartas de los Apóstoles insinúan o hacen tal afirmación.

Todo creyente nacido de nuevo en Jesucristo es llamado santo en la Biblia. Esta es una referencia a su posición ante Dios como “en Cristo”:

2 Corintios 1:1: “Pablo, Apóstol de Jesucristo por voluntad de Dios, y Timoteo el hermano; a la asamblea de Dios que está en Corinto, con todos los santos que están en toda Acaya:”

A veces va seguido de “y a los hermanos fieles en Cristo”: Colosenses 1:2, o algo similar.

El “y” es la palabra griega “kai”, que se puede traducir de diferentes maneras, según el contexto. En este caso, la palabra debe entenderse como “incluso”, en lugar de “y”; para que se lea:

Colosenses 1:1-2b: “Pablo, apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, y nuestro hermano Timoteo, a los santos de Colosas, incluso a los hermanos fieles en Cristo:”

Bajo esta luz, “los santos” y “los hermanos fieles” son uno y lo mismo. La religión católica romana ha intentado hacer una distinción entre los “hermanos fieles” y los “santos” para justificar la supuesta autoridad de los papas para hacer santos por decreto; ¡pero esta es una interpretación falsa que no está basada en las Escrituras!

De hecho, ¡la palabra “papa” ni siquiera aparece en la Biblia! Pablo enumeró a los oficiales de una iglesia cristiana bíblica en 1 Timoteo 3:1-13: Supervisores (traducidos como “obispos” en algunas traducciones) y diáconos. Pablo ni dijo nada sobre sacerdotes, papas, cardenales, monjes, monjas o frailes. Tampoco dijo nada sobre rosarios, crucifijos, María la madre de Jesús, o cualquiera de las otras tonterías que se hacen pasar por doctrinas católicas. ¡Todas esas cosas fueron inventadas de la nada por hombres arrogantes y malvados cuya afirmación de ser Papa se basó en una completa mentira! Así que no se puede confiar en todo lo que dijeron desde ese momento en adelante.

La única excepción serían, como dije antes, las decisiones del concilio desde el 325 d.C. (el Concilio de Nicea) hasta 553 d.C. (el Segundo Concilio de Constantinopla) acerca de las doctrinas de la teología con respecto a la Trinidad y la Persona de Cristo en particular. Estas fueron decisiones a las que se llegó por consentimiento de muchos teólogos de diferentes iglesias; y no eran sólo decretos papales. Pero después del siglo quinto, los papas en Roma se convirtieron en emperadores y también se volvieron cada vez más corruptos y demoníacos.

Estas decisiones también se basaron en un razonamiento sólido y bíblico, por lo que los bautistas y protestantes que creen en la Biblia (especialmente los líderes de la Reforma) generalmente están de acuerdo con sus decisiones sobre estas cosas.

Los bautistas, protestantes e incluso católicos (tradicionales) creyentes en la Biblia generalmente pueden estar de acuerdo en las doctrinas centrales del cristianismo con respecto a la Persona de Cristo y la Trinidad.

Pero cuando comenzamos a discutir doctrinas fuera de ese núcleo, como la salvación, entonces hay una gran divergencia entre el catolicismo y los bautistas en particular, porque el catolicismo romano es una religión de obras que te enseña a hacer buenas obras para alcanzar la salvación, tales como unirse a su iglesia, ser bautizados, ser fieles a los servicios de la iglesia y recibir la extremaunción antes de la muerte (que supuestamente quita cualquier pecado que no haya sido ya perdonado, lo cual es imposible según las Escrituras). Nadie puede ser salvo por obras; la Biblia lo deja muy claro:

Efesios 2:8-9: “Porque por gracia habéis sido salvado permanentemente por medio de la fe, y esta fe no es desde ustedes; es don de Dios; no de nuestras propias obras, para que no nadie se jacte”.

Tristemente, hoy los protestantes de la Gran Reforma han vuelto a caer en las obras de salvación del catolicismo romano, excepto por unos pocos remanentes.

¡Pero los bautistas que creen en la Biblia (es decir, los fundamentales) creen a la Biblia! Creemos lo que dice la Biblia, que la Obra Terminada de Cristo es suficiente para salvarnos hasta lo sumo, si nos arrepentimos y ponemos toda nuestra esperanza de salvación en lo que Jesucristo hizo por nosotros en la cruz, y le pedimos que entre en nuestro corazón para salvarnos.

Romanos 10:8-13: “Pero ¿qué dice? “La Palabra está cerca de ti, incluso en tu boca y en tu corazón”, es decir, la Palabra de fe (que predicamos), que si confesarás con tu boca al Señor Jesús, y creerás en tu corazón que Dios le levantó de los muertos, tú serás salvado: porque con el corazón, el hombre cree para justicia, y con la boca, la confesión se hace para la salvación: porque la Escritura dice, “cualquiera que en él creyere, no será avergonzado.” Porque no hay diferencia entre el judio y el gentil: porque el mismo Señor sobre todo es rico a todos los que le invocan: porque [está escrito], “Cualquiera que llamará sobre el Nombre del Señor será salvado”.

¡Hice eso hace casi 41 años! ¡Y estoy tan contenta de haberlo hecho! Amén.

¿Y tú? ¡No hay musulmanes, hindúes, bahai, sintoístas, budistas, ateos o agnósticos en el Cielo! Cualquiera que murió en estas situaciones ahora está en el Infierno, porque negaron a Jesucristo como el Hijo de Dios y el único Camino al Cielo.

Juan 14:6 “Jesús le dice: Yo soy el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida: nadie viene al Padre, sino por mí”.

El Corán (17:111) dice que Alá no tiene hijos. ¡La Biblia está de acuerdo, porque el único Dios verdadero de la Biblia tiene un Hijo, y su Nombre es el Señor Jesucristo! ¡Por lo tanto, “Allah” no es Dios! Lo mismo es cierto para todos los dioses falsos; cualquiera que los siga perecerá en el Infierno sin esperanza para siempre.

Isaías 43:11-12: “Yo, incluso yo, soy Jehová; y no hay otro Salvador que yo. He declarado el futuro, y he salvado, y he mostrado, cuando no había dios extraño entre ustedes; por lo tanto, ustedes son mis testigos,’ dice Jehová, ‘de que yo soy el Dios verdadero’”.

Hasta los demonios saben que Jehová Elohim tiene un Hijo, y lo reconocieron en Jesucristo:

Marcos 3:11: “Y los espíritus inmundos, al verle, se postraban delante de él, y daban voces, diciendo, “¡Tú eres el Hijo de Dios!”

I Juan 2:22-23: “¿Quién es el mentiroso, si no él que niegue que Jesús es el Cristo? Éste es Anticristo, el que niega la igualdad del Padre y del Hijo. Cualquiera que niega al Hijo, él no tiene al Padre; sino él que confiesa al Hijo también tiene al Padre”.

Además, aquellos que decían ser cristianos (ya fueran bautistas, protestantes o católicos romanos, pero también negaban estas mismas verdades de la Palabra de Dios y confiaban en sus buenas obras para salvarlos) también fueron al infierno cuando murieron!

Mateo 7:21-23: Jesús dijo, “No todo el que me dice, ‘Señor, Señor’, entrará en el Reino del Cielo; sino solo el que hace la voluntad de mi Padre quien está en el Cielo. Muchos me dirán en aquel día, ‘Señor, Señor, ¿no profetizamos en tu Nombre, y en tu Nombre echamos fuera demonios, y en tu Nombre hicimos muchos milagros?’ Y entonces yo profesaré a ellos, ‘Nunca os conocí; apartaos de mí, obradores de maldad’”.

Así es como puede ser salvo, SI USTED CREE todo lo que acabo de explicar. Haz esta oración con todo tu corazón para recibir a Cristo como tu Salvador:

“Señor Jesús, sé que he pecado contra TI. ¡No soy bueno y tú eres justo! Creo que moriste en la cruz por mis pecados, fuiste enterrado y resucitaste de entre los muertos al tercer día. Quiero que vengas a mi vida y seas mi Señor y Salvador. Por favor entra en mi corazón ahora mismo. Perdóname por todos mis pecados y salva mi alma. En el poderoso Nombre de Jesús, oro, ¡Amén!”
