Preface: The Letter to the Hebrews was written to the Jews of the first century who had been saved under the Old Covenant using the system of animal sacrifices in the Temple of Herod and the priesthood of Aaron and his sons.

But now that Christ had already atoned for the sins of the world on the cross of Calvary in 33 A.D., those Jews needed to move from the Old Covenant of repeated animal sacrifices to the New Covenant of Christ, which was based only on his sacrifice on the cross, which was finished and completed, once for all time: never to be repeated. This is a very important point, from which I will make applications in this study.

This process of moving from the Old to the New Covenant was one of completion for these Jews. They were already the children of God by faith! But they were incomplete in their faith without Christ as the center of their faith: it was time for them to grow up and embrace Christ, or be judged by Jehovah for their disobedience.

This letter was not written for anyone outside of this group of people; either they became followers of Christ (we know that some of them did), or they continued under the Old Covenant and were punished with death in the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple in 70 A.D.

We can apply many spiritual lessons for Christians today; but the interpretation of this letter belongs only to the Jews of the first century. Any other interpretation will lead you into doctrinal errors.

The Golden Ratio design and outline of Hebrews, Chapter 1.4:

Chapter 1.4: The Old Covenant saints looked forward with saving faith to their Messiah (10:32 - 11:40)

§Unique Introduction: The response of a believer to the will of God will lead either to victory or self-destruction (10:32 -39)

¶Opposite Obedience to the will of God will enable a believer to overcome the opposition of others to their faith (10:32 -34)

¶Opposite Disobedience to the will of God will cause backsliding to your own destruction (10:35 - 39)

In this study, we will cover the Conclusion section.

If you have not read the entire Bible at least once, then the stories that are referenced here are a mystery to you; and that is sad! Because they are truly thrilling and amazing stories of faith. I will excerpt a few of them, but you really should read the entire Bible at least once a year.

And if you are preparing to be a preacher, then you should read the Bible through all the way at least twice a year, because you should know the Bible twice as good as anyone in your congregation! A pastor should be an expert in the Word of God! There are many Bible reading plans that you can use, but in my opinion, the best one is to start at two places: Matthew 1:1 and Genesis 1:1 (Download the free PDF here). On the first day, read the first Chapter of Matthew (use the Kingdom Study Bible, not your version). On the second day, read the first Chapter of Genesis; on the third day, read the second Chapter of Matthew; on the fourth day, read the second Chapter of Genesis, and so on.

In the Kingdom Study Bible, you will start with Genesis (Volume 1) and read to the end of Volume 3; and with Matthew, you will start with Volume 4 and read through Volume 5 and finish with the Psalms.

If you start with Genesis and attempt to read until the end of the Bible in the Psalms, it will be more difficult, because you need variety! When reading the Hebrew part of the Bible, we should also be reading from the Greek part of the Bible with the Gospels and the letters of the Apostles.

Opposite And what more shall I say?

Opposite For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon, and Barak, and Samson, and Jephthah; David also, and Samuel, and the Prophets:

Complement who by faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises;

Complement stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword;

Unique out of weakness were made strong; became valiant in fight, and turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

Comments: Recall from the previous studies in this chapter that the Apostle Paul was using the history of the saints under the Old Covenant (and even before, such as Abel in Genesis) as a means to show the Jews in the first century (who had been saved under the Old Covenant; but had not yet believed in Jesus Christ as their Messiah) that they should follow the examples of faith and obedience in the Hebrew Bible that they knew so well.

Remember that these Jews in the first century faced great persecution from their friends and family and even death, if they decided to follow Jesus Christ as their Messiah; so a choice to be baptized in deep water and profess Christ as their Messiah required great courage, much like many of you, who are reading this now.

In all cultures, but especially in Muslim and pagan cultures and even Roman Catholic as well, it takes great courage to obey the command of Jesus Christ to be baptized in deep water and let the world know that you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and you want to follow Him all the days of your life, because you could lose everything, including your life.

These saints under the Old Covenant had some amazing experiences in their lives that we have the privilege of reading in the Bible thousands of years later.

The first example cited by Paul was Gideon, who lived in a very difficult time in Israel when neighboring armies would routinely invade Israel and plunder their crops and cause a lot of destruction. Since they had no king in Israel at that time, God used judges to unite the tribes of Israel to fight off the invaders; and in this situation, Jehovah chose Gideon as their judge to lead the people in battle.

But first, Jehovah had to reduce the size of his army so that they would know that Jehovah had given them the victory, rather than their own power.

Judges 7:1-8a: “Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and camped beside the well of Harod, so that the army of the Midianites was on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley. And Jehovah said to Gideon, “The people that are with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’ Now therefore come; proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, ‘Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead.’” And there returned of the people twenty-two thousand; and there remained ten thousand. And Jehovah said to Gideon, “The people are still too many. Bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there; and it shall be, that of whom I say to you, ‘This shall go with you’, the same shall go with you; and of whomsoever I say to you, ‘This shall not go with you’, the same shall not go.” So he brought the people down to the water.

And Jehovah said to Gideon, “Everyone that laps of the water with his tongue, as a dog laps, him you shall set by himself; likewise everyone that bows down upon his knees to drink.” And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men; but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water. And Jehovah said to Gideon, “By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into your hand; and let all the rest of the people go every man to his place.” So the people took provisions in their hand, and their trumpets; and he sent all the rest of Israel every man to his tent, and retained those three hundred men.”

Then Jehovah had to provide assurance to Gideon that He was going to give him the victory, so He told Gideon to go down to the army of Midian in secret and listen to their conversation.

Judges 7:8b - 22: “Now the army of Midian was beneath him in the valley. And it came to pass the same night, that Jehovah said to him, “Arise, go down to the army: for I have delivered it into your hand. But if you are afraid to go down, go with Phurah your servant down to the army, and you shall hear what they say; and afterward your hands shall be strengthened to go down to the army.” Then he went down with Phurah his servant to the outside of the armed men that were in the army. And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were innumerable, as the sand by the seaside for multitude. And when Gideon came, behold, there was a man that told a dream to his companion, and said, “Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the army of Midian, and came to a tent, and struck it so that it fell, and overturned it, so that the tent lay along.” And his companion answered and said, “This is nothing else except the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand has God delivered Midian, and all the army."

What an incredible thing! God miraculously put words into the mouths of the two soldiers of Midian as a message to Gideon that the victory was certain.

And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and its interpretation, that he worshiped; and he returned into the army of Israel, and said, “Arise: for Jehovah has delivered into your hand the army of Midian.” And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man’s hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers. And he said to them, “Look on me, and do likewise; and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall you do. When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then you also blow the trumpets on every side of all the camp, and say, ‘The sword of Jehovah, and of Gideon!’”

So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came to the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch. And they blew the trumpets, and broke the pitchers that were in their hands. And the three companies blew the trumpets, and broke the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow with; and they cried, “The sword of Jehovah, and of Gideon!” And they stood every man in his place around the camp; and all the army ran, and cried, and fled. And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and Jehovah set every man’s sword against his companion, even throughout all the army; and the army fled to Beth-shittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abel-meholah, to Tabbath.”

God had already prepared the men of the army of Midian with terrifying dreams and rumors about Gideon, so all Gideon had to do was act on their fears by using psychological warfare with the sound of blaring trumpets and 300 clay pots with candles being smashed in the dark of night; and it worked!

“And all the army ran, and cried, and fled. And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and Jehovah set every man’s sword against his companion, even throughout all the army; and the army fled to Beth-shittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abel-meholah, to Tabbath.”

So God used Gideon and an army of only 300 men to rout a vast army of Midianites “as the sand by the seaside for multitude.”

And how did Gideon do this? By faith and obedience to the Word of God that was revealed to him. If Gideon had not obeyed the Word of God by faith, he would have failed, and probably been killed.

There are many other examples that I don’t have room for in this study.

¶Complement The saints of God suffered and died by faith (11:35 - 40)

Opposite Women received their dead raised to life again; and others were tortured; not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.

Opposite And others had trial of cruel mocking and scourging; indeed, also of chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, were sawn in two, were tested, and were slain with the sword.

Complement They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins: being destitute, afflicted, and tormented (of whom the world was not worthy).

Complement They wandered in deserts, and mountains, and dens and caves of the earth.

Unique And these all, having obtained a good report by faith, did not receive the promise: God having provided something better for us, that they apart from us should not be made complete.

“Women received their dead raised to life again.”

This was a reference to the life of Elisha, when he raised a young boy to life.

2 Kings 4:32-37: “And when Elisha came into the house, behold, the child was dead, and laid upon his bed. Therefore he went in, and shut the door upon them both, and prayed to Jehovah. And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands; and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child grew warm. Then he returned, and walked in the house back and forth; and went up, and stretched himself upon him. And the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. And he called Gehazi, and said, “Call this Shunammite.” So he called her. And when she came in to him, he said, “Take up your son.” Then she went in, and fell at his feet, and bowed herself to the ground, and took up her son, and went out.”

“And others had trial of cruel mocking and scourging; indeed, also of chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, were sawn in two, were tested, and were slain with the sword.”

According to Jewish tradition, at least part of this is a reference to the prophet Isaiah, who was sawn in two pieces at the order of king Manasseh, who was an apostate from Jehovah.

Complement They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins: being destitute, afflicted, and tormented (of whom the world was not worthy).

Complement They wandered in deserts, and mountains, and dens and caves of the earth.

One example of the prophets who fit this description is Elijah the prophet:

2 Kings 1:7-17: “And he said to them, “What kind of man was he that came up to meet you, and told you these words?” And they answered him, “He was a hairy man, and girded with a belt of leather about his waist.” And he said, “It is Elijah the Tishbite.” Then the king sent to him a captain of fifty with his fifty soldiers. And he went up to him; and behold, he sat on the top of a hill. And he spoke to him, “You man of God, the king has said, ‘Come down!’” And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, “If I am a man of God, then let fire come down from Heaven, and consume you and your fifty soldiers.” And fire came down from Heaven, and consumed him and his fifty soldiers. Again also he sent to him another captain of fifty with his fifty soldiers. And he answered and said to him, “O man of God, thus has the king said, ‘Come down quickly!’” And Elijah answered and said to them, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from Heaven, and consume you and your fifty soldiers.” And the fire of God came down from Heaven, and consumed him and his fifty soldiers. And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty soldiers. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and implored him, and said to him, “O man of God, please, let my life, and the life of these fifty your servants, be precious in your sight. Behold, fire came down from Heaven, and burned up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties; therefore let my life now be precious in your sight.”

And the angel of Jehovah said to Elijah, “Go down with him; do not be afraid of him.” And he arose, and went down with him to the king. And he said to him, “Thus says Jehovah: ‘Forasmuch as you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, is it not because the true God is not in Israel to inquire of his Word? Therefore you shall not come down off that bed on which you have gone up, but shall certainly die.’” So he died according to the Word of Jehovah that Elijah had spoken.”

The amazing thing is that these events actually happened!! They are not “myths and legends”, as the deniers of the Bible and haters of God want you to believe!

It is true that God works in different ways today, because we are under the New Covenant and not the Old; however, Jehovah God is still the same miracle-working, almighty God that He was then! Amen!

God can do great things through us and for us, if only we trust in Him and Him alone. The words of faithful Jonathan, son of Saul, still ring true today:

1 Samuel 14:6: “And Jonathan said to the young man that carried his armor, “Come, and let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; it may be that Jehovah will work for us: for there is no restraint to Jehovah to save by many or by few.”

And in his battle with Goliath, David said,

1 Samuel 17:47: “And all this assembly shall know that Jehovah saves not with sword and spear: for the battle is Jehovah’s, and he will give you into our hands!!”

This is probably my favorite Bible passage in the history of Israel and Judah: king Abijah of Judah had an army of 400,000 men; and his enemy, king Jeroboam of the northern kingdom of Israel, had an army that was twice that size: 800,000 men. But Abijah prevailed in battle against Jeroboam because the Lord was with him; and because Jeroboam was a very wicked man who had turned against Jehovah and made golden calves for Israel to worship instead of Jehovah.

2 Chronicles 13:2b - 18: “And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam: and Abijah set the battle in array with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men. Jeroboam also set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, being mighty men of valor. And Abijah stood up upon mount Zemaraim, which is in mount Ephraim, and he said, “Hear me, you Jeroboam, and all Israel! Should you not know that Jehovah God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever, even to him and to his sons by a Covenant of salt? Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, has risen up and rebelled against his lord. And there are gathered to him vain men, the children of Belial; and they strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tender-hearted, and could not withstand them.

And now you think to withstand the Kingdom of Jehovah in the hand of the sons of David; and you are a great multitude. And there are golden calves with you, which Jeroboam made you for gods. Have you not cast out the priests of Jehovah, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the nations of other lands, so that whosoever comes to consecrate himself with a bull and seven rams, the same may be a priest of false gods? But as for us, Jehovah is our God; and we have not forsaken him. And the priests, which minister to Jehovah, are the sons of Aaron; and the Levites attend to their duties; and they burn to Jehovah burnt sacrifices and sweet incense every morning and every evening; also they set the showbread in order upon the pure table, and the candlestick of gold with its lamps, to burn every evening. For we keep the charge of Jehovah our God; but you have forsaken him. And, behold, God himself is with us for our Captain; and his priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you! O children of Israel, fight not against Jehovah God of your fathers: for you shall not prosper!”

But Jeroboam caused an ambush to come around behind them, so they were before Judah, and the ambush was behind them. And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind; and they cried to Jehovah, and the priests sounded with the trumpets. Then the men of Judah gave a shout; and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. And the children of Israel fled before Judah; and God delivered them into their hand. And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter, so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men. Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time; and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon Jehovah God of their fathers.”

This story demonstrates that it pays to serve the Lord and follow Him, Amen? God is real, Satan is a loser, and the Bible is 100% true: read it, believe it, and do what it says, because it is the Word of God. God does not care about your physical strength or how much money you have or how many people you have that are on your side or what kind of weapons you have. God only wants your heart and your loyalty to Him! And if He has your heart, then God will be with you! And when God is with you, nothing is impossible! Amen.

Get to know the Bible, backwards and forwards! Read it daily for your spiritual food so that you might grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Romans 15:4: “For whatsoever was written before was written for our learning, so that, through patience and comfort of the Scriptures, we might have assurance.”

When I said that “God will be with you”, I am speaking only to people who have repented of their sins, and have put their trust in the Finished Work of Christ on the cross 2,000 years ago.

Muhammad and Islam is NOT the Way to God! Mary is not the Way to Jesus or to Heaven! No church and no baptism and no good works can save you!

Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man comes to the Father, but by me.” John 14:6.

The Quran (17:111) says that allah has no son. The Bible agrees, because the one true God of the Bible has a Son, and his Name is the Lord Jesus Christ! Therefore, “allah” is not God!

Even the devils know that Jehovah Elohim has a Son, and they recognized Him in Jesus Christ:

Mark 3:11: “And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him; and they cried, saying, “You are the Son of God!”

I John 2:22-23: “Who is the liar, if not he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist: the one who denies the equality of the Father and the Son. Whosoever denies the Son, does not have the Father; but he that confesses the Son has the Father also.”

The Protestant Reformers were 100% right about the Pope: They all said he was an antichrist! The Catholic religion is much worse today than in the days of the reformers! There is no salvation in any church and there is no hope in the Pope!

If you are a Muslim, a Roman Catholic, a Hindu, a Bahai, an atheist/agnostic, or a person who is a church member, but you are trusting in your baptism or your good works to be saved, then God is not with you, my friend! You are a sinner before God who will soon stand before Him in Judgment; after which He will cast you into the Lake of Fire forever and ever and ever!

Do you realize that in Heaven: Muslims, Roman Catholics, Hindus, Bahais, Shintos, atheists/agnostics, and false Christians will never be allowed into that holy place? That’s right, friend! Anyone who is not a born again Christian will never see the glories and wonders of Heaven, because you will be in Hell until the Great White Throne judgment; and after that, the Lake of Fire, forever and ever; and you will never get out!

May God open your eyes to the extreme danger that you are in right now! If your heart would stop beating for any reason, you would instantly drop down into a terrible place that is full of burning sulphur, fire, and continuous wailing, crying, gnashing of teeth, and extreme suffering by all who are in that place! You are literally only a heartbeat away from Hell!

The only escape for you from that terrible place called Hell is the Finished Work of Jesus Christ on the cross 2,000 years ago. Jesus suffered on the cross for the sins of all mankind: past, present, and future; and that included you and me, thank God! His suffering is enough for you to make peace with God, who is angry with you because of your sins.

All you must do is believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of God who came to Earth to be born of a virgin, lived a sinless, perfect life for 33 years, was crucified and suffered unimaginable pain on our behalf so that we don’t have to suffer in Hell, if we have trusted Him to save us; and when He died, they placed Him in a tomb for 3 days. Afterward, Jesus arose from the dead, victorious over sin, death, Hell and the grave! Amen.

You must also understand and believe that you are a sinner; and that your sins helped to put Jesus Christ on the cross! That’s right, friend! Jesus died FOR YOU, so that you might have Everlasting Life!

John 3:16: Jesus said, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have Everlasting Life.”

Do you believe these things? Then and only then can you ask for forgiveness, based on your faith in what Jesus did for you on the cross 2,000 years ago. It is his FINISHED WORK (we cannot add to it nor subtract anything from it). It is a gift from God that was given to us; but his Finished Work for us won’t do us any good UNLESS WE ACCEPT HIM AS OUR PERSONAL SAVIOR!

If you believe in Jesus, but do not pray to receive his gift of salvation, then you will still go to Hell!

Romans 10:13: “for it is written, “whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Here is how you can be saved, IF YOU BELIEVE everything that I just explained. Pray this prayer with all of your heart to receive Christ as your Savior:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against YOU. I am no good, and you are righteous! You are my only hope for salvation! I believe that you died on the cross for my sins, you were buried, and you rose again from the dead on the third day. I want you to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. Please come into my heart right now. Forgive me for all my sins, and save my soul. In the mighty Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen!”

Prefacio: La Carta a los Hebreos fue escrita a los judíos del primer siglo que se habían salvado bajo el Antiguo Pacto usando el sistema de sacrificios de animales en el Templo de Herodes y el sacerdocio de Aarón y sus hijos.

Pero ahora que Cristo ya había expiado los pecados del mundo en la cruz del Calvario en el año 30 d.C., esos judíos necesitaban pasar del Antiguo Pacto de repetidos sacrificios de animales al Nuevo Pacto de Cristo, que se basó únicamente en su sacrificio en la cruz, que fue consumado y completado, una vez para siempre: nunca se repetirá. Éste es un punto muy importante, de los cuales haré aplicaciones en este estudio.

Este proceso de pasar del Antiguo al Nuevo Pacto fue uno de finalización para estos judíos. ¡Ya eran hijos de Dios por la fe! Pero estaban incompletos en su fe sin Cristo como el centro de su fe: era hora de que crecieran y abrazaran a Cristo, o serían juzgados por Jehová por su desobediencia.

Esta carta no fue escrita para nadie fuera de este grupo de personas; o se hicieron seguidores de Cristo (sabemos que algunos de ellos lo hicieron), o continuaron bajo el Antiguo Pacto y fueron castigados con la muerte en la destrucción de Jerusalén y el Templo en el 70 d.C.

Podemos aplicar muchas lecciones espirituales para los cristianos de hoy; pero la interpretación de esta carta pertenece solo a los judíos del primer siglo hasta el 70 d.C. Cualquier otra interpretación te conducirá a errores doctrinales.

Porque son historias de fe verdaderamente emocionantes y sorprendentes. Voy a extraer algunos de ellos, pero realmente deberías leer la Biblia completa al menos una vez al año.

Hay muchos planes de lectura de la Biblia que puedes usar, pero en mi opinión, el mejor es comenzar en dos lugares: Mateo 1:1 y Génesis 1:1. En el primer día, lea el primer capítulo de Mateo (use el Reino Estudio Biblia (REB)). En el segundo día, lea el primer Capítulo de Génesis; al tercer día, leer el segundo capítulo de Mateo; el cuarto día, leer el segundo capítulo del Génesis, y así sucesivamente.

En el Reino Estudio Biblia (REB), tú comenzarás con Génesis (Volumen 1) y leerá hasta el final del Volumen 3; y con Mateo, tú comenzarás con el Volumen 4 y leerá el Volumen 5 y terminará con los Salmos.

Si comienza con Génesis e intenta leer hasta el final de la Biblia en los Salmos, será más difícil, ¡porque tú necesitas variedad! Al leer la parte hebrea de la Biblia, también debemos leer la parte griega de la Biblia con los Evangelios y las cartas de los Apóstoles.

Lo opuesto Porque el tiempo me faltaría para hablar de Gedeón, y de Barac, y de Sansón, y de Jefté; David también, y de Samuel y de los Profetas:

El complemento quien por la fe conquistaron reinos, hicieron justicia, obtuvieron promesas;

El complemento tapó las bocas de los leones, apagaron el poder del fuego, escaparon del filo de la espada;

Único fuera de la debilidad, se hicieron fuertes; se hicieron valientes en la lucha, e hicieron huir los ejércitos de los extranjeros.

Comentarios: Recuerde desde los estudios previos en este capítulo que el Apóstol Pablo estaba usando la historia de los santos bajo el Antiguo Pacto (e incluso antes, como Abel en Génesis) como un medio para mostrar a los judíos en el primer siglo (quienes había sido salvados bajos el Antiguo Pacto; pero ellos aún no habían creído en Jesucristo como su Mesías) que deberían seguir los ejemplos de fe y obediencia en la Biblia hebrea que conocían tan bien.

Recuerde que estos judíos en el primer siglo enfrentaron una gran persecución por parte de sus amigos y familiares e incluso la muerte, si decidían seguir a Jesucristo como su Mesías; así que la elección de ser bautizados en aguas profundas y profesar a Cristo como su Mesías requirió gran valor, como muchos de ustedes, que están leyendo esto ahora.

En todas las culturas, pero especialmente en las culturas musulmana y pagana e incluso también en la católica romana, se necesita mucho coraje para obedecer el mandato de Jesucristo de ser bautizado en aguas profundas y hacerle saber al mundo que eres un creyente en el Señor Jesucristo y quieres seguirlo todos los días de tu vida, porque tú podrías perderlo todo , incluida tu vida.

Estos santos bajos el Antiguo Pacto tuvieron algunas experiencias asombrosas en sus vidas que tenemos el privilegio de leer en la Biblia miles de años después.

El primer ejemplo citado por Paul fue Gedeón, quien vivió en un momento muy difícil en Israel cuando los ejércitos vecinos invadían Israel de forma rutinaria y saqueaban sus cosechas y causaban mucha destrucción. Como no tenían rey en Israel en ese momento, Dios usó jueces para unir a las tribus de Israel para luchar contra los invasores; y en esta situación, Jehová escogió a Gedeón como su juez para guiar al pueblo en la batalla.

Pero primero, Jehová tuvo que reducir el tamaño de su ejército para que supieran que Jehová les había dado la victoria, en lugar de su propio poder.

Judges 7:1-8a: “Entonces Jerobaal, quien es Gedeón, y todo el pueblo que con él estaba, se levantaron temprano y acamparon al lado del pozo de Harod, de manera que el ejército de los madianitas estaba al lado norte de ellos, junto al collado de More, en el valle. Y Jehová dijo a Gedeón, “El pueblo que está contigo es demasiado para que yo entregue a los madianitas en sus manos, no sea que Israel se jacte contra mí, diciendo: ‘Mi propia mano me ha salvado’. Ahora, pues, ven; pregonad en los oídos del pueblo, diciendo: “Cualquiera que tenga temeroso y miedo, vuélvase y apártese temprano del monte de Galaad.” Y volvieron desde la gente veintidós mil; y quedaron diez mil. Y Jehová dijo a Gedeón, “La gente todavía es demasiada. Tráelos hasta el agua, y allí te los probaré; y acontecerá que de quien yo os diga: ‘Esto irá contigo’, ése irá contigo; y de quien yo os diga: ‘Esto no irá contigo’, ése no irá.”

Así que él llevó a la gente al agua; y Jehová dijo a Gedeón, “Cualquiera que lamiere las aguas con su lengua como lame el perro, a él pondrás aparte; asimismo cualquiera que se doblare sobre sus rodillas para beber.” Y el número de los que lamieron, llevándose la mano a la boca, fueron trescientos hombres; pero todo el resto de la gente se arrodilló para beber agua. Y Jehová dijo a Gedeón, “Por los trescientos hombres que lamieron os salvaré, y entregaré a los madianitas en vuestras manos; y deja que todo el resto del pueblo vaya cada uno a su lugar.” Entonces el pueblo tomó provisiones en sus manos, y sus trompetas; y él envió a todo el resto de Israel, cada uno a su tienda, y retuvo a aquellos trescientos hombres.”

Entonces Jehová tuvo que dar seguridad a Gedeón que le iba a dar la victoria, así que le dijo a Gedeón que bajara en secreto al ejército de Madián y escuchara su conversación.

Judges 7:8b - 22: “Ahora el ejército de Madián estaba debajo de él en el valle. Y sucedió la misma noche, que Jehová le dijo, “Levántate, y desciende al campamento: porque yo lo he entregado en tus manos. Pero si tienes temor de descender, baja tú al campamento con Fura tu criado, y oirás lo que hablan; y después de vuestras manos serán fortalecidas para descender al ejército.” Entonces descendió con Fura su siervo a la parte exterior de los hombres armados que estaban en el ejército. Y los madianitas y los amalecitas y todos los hijos del oriente yacían en el valle como saltamontes para multitud; y sus camellos eran innumerables, como la arena junto al mar para multitud. Y cuando llegó Gedeón, he aquí, había un hombre que contó un sueño a su compañero, y dijo, “He aquí, yo soñé un sueño; y he aquí, una torta de pan de cebada cayó sobre el ejército de Madián; y ello llegó a una tienda y la golpeó de tal manera que cayó, y la volcó, de modo que la tienda yacía plana.” Y su compañero respondió, y dijo, “Esto no es otra cosa sino la espada de Gedeón hijo de Joás, varón de Israel: porque Dios ha entregado a Madián y a todo el ejército en sus manos.”

¡Qué cosa tan increíble! Dios milagrosamente puso palabras en la boca de los dos soldados de Madián como mensaje a Gedeón de que la victoria era segura.

“Y fue así, cuando Gedeón oyó la narración del sueño y su interpretación, que adoró; y volvió al ejército de Israel, y dijo: “Levantaos, porque Jehová ha entregado en vuestras manos el ejército de Madián”. Y dividió a los trescientos hombres en tres compañías, y puso una trompeta en la mano de cada uno, con cántaros vacíos y lámparas dentro de los cántaros. Y les dijo, “Miradme y haced lo mismo; y he aquí, cuando llegue a las afueras del campamento, sucederá que como yo hago, así haréis ustedes. Cuando yo tocare la trompeta, y todos los que estarán conmigo; entonces ustedes tocaréis las trompetas en cada lado de todo el campamento, y diréis, ‘¡La espada de Jehová y de Gedeón!’”

Así Gedeón y los cien hombres que estaban con él, llegaron al exterior del campamento al comienzo de la vigilia media; y ellos acababan de establecer la vigilia. Y tocaron las trompetas, y rompieron los cántaros que tenían en sus manos. Y las tres compañías tocaron las trompetas, y rompieron los cántaros, y sostenían las lámparas en la mano izquierda, y las trompetas en sus manos derechas para soplar con; y gritaron, “¡La espada de Jehová y de Gedeón!” Y se pararon cada hombre en su lugar alrededor del campamento; y todo el ejército corrió, y gritó, y huyó. Y los trescientos tocaban las trompetas; y Jehová puso la espada de cada hombre contra su compañero, aun en todo el ejército. Y el ejército huyó hasta Bet-sita, hacia Zerera, y hasta el término de Abel-mehola a Tabat.”

Dios ya había preparado a los hombres del ejército de Madián con sueños aterradores y rumores sobre Gedeón, así que todo lo que Gedeón tuvo que hacer fue jugar con los temores de los madianitas usando la guerra psicológica con el sonido de trompetas a todo volumen y 300 vasijas de barro con velas rotas en la oscuridad de la noche; ¡Y funcionó!

“Y todo el ejército corrió, y gritó, y huyó. Y los trescientos tocaban las trompetas; y Jehová puso la espada de cada hombre contra su compañero, aun en todo el ejército. Y el ejército huyó hasta Bet-sita, hacia Zerera, y hasta el término de Abel-mehola a Tabat.”

Así que Dios usó a Gedeón y un ejército de solo 300 hombres para derrotar a un vasto ejército de madianitas “como la arena junto al mar en multitud”.

¿Y cómo hizo esto Gedeón? Por la fe y la obediencia a la Palabra de Dios que le fue revelada. Si Gedeón no hubiera obedecido la Palabra de Dios por fe, habría fallado y probablemente habría muerto.

Hay muchos otros ejemplos para los que no tengo espacio en este estudio.

¶El complemento Los santos de Dios sufrieron y murieron por la fe (11:35 - 40)

Lo opuesto Las mujeres recibieron a sus muertos levantado a la vida de nuevo; y otros fueron torturados, no aceptando la liberación, a fin de obtener mejor resurrección.

Lo opuesto Y otros tuvieron juicio de cruel burla y flagelación; de hecho, también de cadenas y prisiones. Ellos fueron apedreados, aserrados, probados, y fueron muertos a espada.

El complemento Ellos deambularon en pieles de oveja y pieles de cabra: siendo indigente, afligido y atormentado; (de quien el mundo no era digno).

El complemento Anduvieron errantes por los desiertos, las montañas, los antros y las cuevas de la tierra.

Único Y todos éstos, todos éstos, habiendo obtenido buen testimonio por medio de la fe, no recibieron la promesa; Dios habiendo provisto algo mejor para nosotros, que ellos, aparte de nosotros, no deberían ser hechos completos.

“Las mujeres recibieron a sus muertos levantado a la vida de nuevo”

Esta fue una referencia a la vida de Eliseo, cuando crió a un niño a la vida.

2 Reyes 4:32-37: “Y cuando Eliseo entró en la casa, he aquí, el niño estaba muerto, tendido sobre su cama. Entonces él entró, cerró la puerta sobre ambos, y oró a Jehová. Y subió, y se acostó sobre el niño, y puso su boca sobre su boca, y sus ojos sobre sus ojos, y sus manos sobre sus manos; y se tendió sobre el niño; y la carne del niño se calentó. Volviéndose luego, se paseó por la casa a una parte y a otra, y después subió, y se tendió sobre él; y el niño estornudó siete veces, y abrió sus ojos. Y él llamó a Giezi, y le dijo, “Llama a esta Sunamita.” Y él la llamó. Y cuando ella vino a él, él la dijo, “Toma tu hijo.” Entonces ella entró, y se echó a sus pies, y se inclinó en tierra; y ella tomó a su hijo y salió.”

“Y otros tuvieron juicio de cruel burla y flagelación; de hecho, también de cadenas y prisiones. Ellos fueron apedreados, aserrados, probados, y fueron muertos a espada.”

Según la tradición judía, al menos parte de esto es una referencia al profeta Isaías, que fue aserrado en dos pedazos por orden del rey Manasés, que era un apóstata desde Jehová.

El complemento Ellos deambularon en pieles de oveja y pieles de cabra: siendo indigente, afligido y atormentado; (de quien el mundo no era digno).

El complemento Anduvieron errantes por los desiertos, las montañas, los antros y las cuevas de la tierra.

Un ejemplo de los profetas que se ajustan a esta descripción fue Elías el profeta:

2 Reyes 1:7-17: “Entonces él les dijo, ¿”Qué clase de hombre era él que subió a tu encuentro y te dijo estas palabras”? Y le respondieron, “Era un hombre velludo, y estaba ceñido con un cinturón de cuero alrededor de su cintura.” Entonces él dijo, “Es Elías la Tisbita.” Entonces el rey envió a él un capitán de cincuenta con sus cincuenta, el cual subió a él; y he aquí que él estaba sentado en la cumbre del monte. Y él le dijo, “Tú, hombre de Dios, el rey ha dicho: ‘¡Baja!’” Y Elías respondió, y dijo al capitán de cincuenta, “Si yo soy varón de Dios, descienda fuego del Cielo, y te consuma con tus cincuenta soldados.” Y descendió fuego del Cielo, que lo consumió a él y a sus cincuenta soldados. De nuevo también el rey a enviar a él otro capitán de cincuenta con sus cincuenta; y le habló, y dijo, “Varón de Dios, el rey ha dicho así, ‘¡Baja pronto!’” Y les respondió Elías, y dijo, “Si soy varón de Dios, descienda fuego del Cielo, y te consuma con tus cincuenta soldados.” Y el fuego de Dios descendió del Cielo y lo consumió a él y a sus cincuenta soldados. Y volvió a enviar un capitán de los terceros cincuenta con sus cincuenta soldados. Y subió el tercer capitán de cincuenta, y vino y se postró de rodillas delante de Elías, y le rogó, y le dijo, “Oh hombre de Dios, por favor, deja que mi vida y la vida de estos cincuenta tus siervos sean preciosas a tus ojos. He aquí, fuego descendió del cielo y consumió a los dos capitanes de los cincuenta anteriores con sus cincuenta; por tanto, deja que mi vida ahora sea preciosa a tus ojos.”

Entonces el ángel de Jehová dijo a Elías, “Baja con él; no tengas miedo de él.” Y él se levantó, y descendió con él al rey. Y le dijo, “Así dice Jehová, ‘Por cuanto enviaste mensajeros a consultar de Baal-zebub, el dios de Ecrón, ¿No será porque el verdadero Dios no está en Israel para consultar su Palabra? Por tanto, no descenderás del lecho en que subiste, sino que de cierto morirás.’” Así murió conforme a la Palabra de Jehová que Elías había hablado.”

¡Lo sorprendente es que estos eventos realmente sucedieron! ¡No son “mitos y leyendas”, como los que niegan la Biblia y los que odian a Dios quieren que creas!

Es cierto que Dios obra de diferentes maneras hoy, porque estamos bajo el Nuevo Pacto y no el Antiguo; sin embargo, ¡Jehová Dios sigue siendo el mismo Dios obrador de milagros y todopoderoso que era entonces! ¡Amén!

Dios puede hacer grandes cosas a través de nosotros y para nosotros, si confiamos en Él y sólo en Él. Las palabras del fiel Jonatán, el hijo de Saúl, todavía suenan verdaderas hoy:

1 Samuel 14:6: “Y Jonatán dijo al joven que llevaba su armadura, “Ven, y pasemos a la guarnición de estos incircuncisos; puede que sea que Jehová trabajare para nosotros: porque ni hay freno a Jehová para salvar por muchos o por pocos.”

Y en su batalla con Goliat, David dijo:

1 Samuel 17:47: “Y sabrá toda esta congregación que Jehová no salva con espada y lanza: porque la batalla es de Jehová, y ¡¡él os entregará en nuestras manos!!”

Éste es probablemente mi pasaje bíblico favorito en la historia de Israel y Judá: el rey Abías de Judá tenía un ejército de 400.000 hombres; y su enemigo, el rey Jeroboam del reino del norte de Israel, tenía un ejército que era el doble de grande: 800.000 hombres. Pero Abías prevaleció en la batalla contra Jeroboam porque el Señor estaba con él; y porque Jeroboam era un hombre muy malvado que se había vuelto contra Jehová e hizo becerros de oro para que Israel los adorara en lugar de Jehová.

2 Crónicas 13:2b - 17: ““Y hubo guerra entre Abías y Jeroboam: y Abías preparó la batalla con un ejército de hombres valientes de guerra, incluso cuatrocientos mil hombres escogidos. Y Jeroboam también preparó la batalla contra él con ochocientos mil hombres escogidos, siendo poderosos hombres de valor. Y Abías se puso de pie sobre el monte de Zemaraim, que es en los montes de Efraín, y dijo, “¡Oídme, Jeroboam y todo Israel! ¿No sabéis ustedes, que Jehová Dios de Israel dio el reino a David sobre Israel para siempre, a él y a sus hijos mediante Pacto de sal? Pero Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, siervo de Salomón hijo de David, se levantó y se rebeló contra su señor. Y se unieron a él unos hombres vanos, hijos de Belial, y ellos se fortalecieron ellos mismos contra Roboam hijo de Salomón: porque Roboam era joven y tierno de corazón, y no pudo defenderse de ellos. Y ahora pensáis resistir el Reino de Jehová en la mano de los hijos de David; y sois una gran multitud. Y hay con ustedes becerros de oro, que Jeroboam os hizo para dioses. ¿No habéis echado fuera a los sacerdotes de Jehová, a los hijos de Aarón y a los levitas, y habéis hecho sacerdotes a la manera de las naciones de otras tierras, para que cualquiera que venga a santificarse con un toro y siete carneros, lo mismo puede ser un sacerdote de dioses falsos?

Pero en cuanto a nosotros, Jehová es nuestro Dios, y no lo hemos abandonado; y los sacerdotes que ministran a Jehová, son los hijos de Aarón; y los levitas atienden a sus deberes; los cuales queman para Jehová los holocaustos cada mañana y cada tarde, y el incienso aromático; y ponen los panes sobre la mesa limpia, y el candelero de oro con sus candilejas para que ardan cada tarde: porque nosotros guardamos la ordenanza de Jehová nuestro Dios; pero ustedes le habéis dejado. ¡Y he aquí Dios mismo está con nosotros para nuestro Capitán, y sus sacerdotes tienen sus trompetas para tocar la alarma contra ustedes. ¡Oh hijos de Israel, no peleéis contra Jehová, el Dios de vuestros padres, porque no seréis prosperados!

Pero Jeroboam provocó una emboscada venir alrededor detrás de ellos, de modo que estaban delante de Judá, y la emboscada estaba detrás de ellos. Y cuando Judá miró hacia atrás, he aquí, la batalla estaba delante y detrás; y clamaron a Jehová, y los sacerdotes tocaron con las trompetas. Entonces los hombres de Judá dieron un grito; y mientras los hombres de Judá gritaron, aconteció que Dios hirió a Jeroboam ya todo Israel delante de Abías y de Judá. Y huyeron los hijos de Israel delante de Judá, y Dios los entregó en sus manos. Y Abías y su pueblo los mataron con una gran matanza, así que quinientos mil hombres escogidos cayeron muertos de Israel. Así fueron sometidos los hijos de Israel en aquel tiempo, y los hijos de Judá prevalecieron: porque se apoyaban en Jehová el Dios de sus padres”.

Esta historia demuestra que vale la pena servir al Señor y seguirlo, ¿Amén? Dios es real, Satanás es un perdedor y la Biblia es 100% verdadera: léala, créala y haga lo que dice, porque es la Palabra de Dios.

A Dios ni le importa tu fuerza física ni cuanto dinero tienes ni cuantas personas que tú tienes en tu lado o que tipo de armas tienes. ¡Dios solo quiere tu corazón y tu lealtad a Él! ¡Y si Él tiene tu corazón, entonces Dios estará contigo! ¡Y cuando Dios está contigo, nada es imposible! Amén.

¡Conozca la Biblia, desde el principio hasta el final! Léalo diariamente para su alimento espiritual para que pueda crecer en la gracia y el conocimiento del Señor Jesucristo. Amén.

Romanos 15:4: “Porque cualquier cosa que estaba escrito antes, fue escrito para nuestro aprendizaje; para que, a través de la paciencia y la consolación de las Escrituras, podríamos tener seguridad”.

Cuando digo que “Dios estará contigo”, me refiero solo a las personas que se han arrepentido de sus pecados y han puesto su confianza en la Obra terminada de Cristo en la cruz hace 2000 años.

¡Mahoma y el Islam NO son el Camino a Dios! ¡María no es el Camino a Jesús ni al Cielo! ¡Ninguna iglesia, ningún bautismo y ninguna buena obra pueden salvarte!

Jesús dijo: “Yo soy el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida: nadie viene al Padre, sino por mí”. Juan 14:6.

El Corán (17:111) dice que Alá no tiene hijo. ¡La Biblia está de acuerdo, porque el único Dios verdadero de la Biblia tiene un Hijo, y su Nombre es el Señor Jesucristo! ¡Por lo tanto, “alá” no es Dios!

Aun los demonios saben que Jehová Elohim tiene un Hijo, y lo reconocieron en Jesucristo:

Marcos 3:11: “Y los espíritus inmundos, al verle, se postraban delante de él, y daban voces, diciendo, “¡Tú eres el Hijo de Dios!”

Los reformadores protestantes tenían 100% de razón sobre el Papa: ¡todos decían que él era un anticristo! ¡La religión católica es mucho peor hoy que en los días de los reformadores! ¡No hay salvación en ninguna iglesia y no hay esperanza en el Papa!

Si usted es musulmán, católico romano, hindú, bahai, ateo/agnóstico, o una persona que es miembro de una iglesia, pero tú confía en tu bautismo o en tus buenas obras para ser salvado, entonces ¡Dios no está contigo, amigo mío! Eres un pecador ante Dios que pronto comparecerá ante Él en el Juicio; ¡después de lo cual te arrojará al lago de fuego por los siglos de los siglos!

¿Te das cuenta de que en el cielo: musulmanes, católicos romanos, hindúes, bahá’ís, sintoístas, ateos/agnósticos y falsos cristianos nunca podrán entrar en ese lugar sagrado? ¡Así es, amigo! Cualquiera que no sea un cristiano nacido de nuevo, nunca verá las glorias y maravillas del Cielo, porque estará en el Infierno hasta el juicio del Gran Trono Blanco; y después de eso, el Lago de Fuego, por los siglos de los siglos; ¡y nunca saldrás!

¡Que Dios te abra los ojos al peligro extremo en el que te encuentras ahora mismo! Si tu corazón dejara de latir por alguna razón, caerías instantáneamente en un lugar terrible Si tu corazón dejara de latir por alguna razón, ¡caerías instantáneamente en un lugar terrible que está lleno de azufre ardiente, fuego, y continuos lamentos, llantos, crujir de dientes y sufrimiento extremo por todos los que están en ese lugar! ¡Estás literalmente a solo un latido del corazón del infierno!

El único escape para ti de ese terrible lugar llamado Infierno es la Obra Terminada de Jesucristo en la cruz hace 2000 años. Jesús sufrió en la cruz por los pecados de toda la humanidad: pasados, presentes y futuros; y eso te incluía a ti ya mí, ¡gracias a Dios! Su sufrimiento es suficiente para que hagas las paces con Dios, quien está enojado contigo a causa de tus pecados.

Todo lo que debe hacer es creer en el Señor Jesucristo, que Él es el Hijo de Dios que vino a la Tierra para nacer de una virgen, vivió una vida perfecta y sin pecado durante 33 años, fue crucificado y sufrió un dolor inimaginable, para que no tengamos que sufrir en el Infierno, si hemos confiado en Él para salvarnos; y cuando murió, lo pusieron en un sepulcro por 3 días. ¡Después, Jesús resucitó de entre los muertos, victorioso sobre el pecado, la muerte, el infierno y la tumba! Amén.

También debes comprender y creer que eres un pecador; ¡y que tus pecados ayudaron a poner a Jesucristo en la cruz! ¡Así es, amigo! ¡Jesús murió POR TI, para que tengas Vida Eterna!

Juan 3:16: Jesús dijo, “Porque Dios amó tanto al mundo, que él dio a su Hijo unigénito, que cualquiera que cree en él no deberían perecer, sino tener Vida Eterna.”

¿Crees estas cosas? Entonces y solo entonces podrás pedir perdón, basado en tu fe en lo que Jesús hizo por ti en la cruz hace 2000 años. Es su OBRA TERMINADA (no podemos agregarle ni quitarle nada). Es un regalo de Dios que nos fue dado; ¡pero su Obra Terminada por nosotros no nos hará ningún bien A MENOS QUE LO ACEPTEMOS COMO NUESTRO SALVADOR PERSONAL!

Si crees en Jesús, pero no oras para recibir su regalo de salvación, ¡aún irás al infierno!

Romanos 10:13: “Porque está escrito, “Cualquiera que llamará sobre el Nombre del Señor será salvado.”

Así es como puede ser salvado, SI USTED CREE todo lo que acabo de explicar. Reza esta oración con todo tu corazón para recibir a Cristo como tu Salvador:

“Señor Jesús, sé que he pecado contra TI. ¡No soy bueno y tú eres justo! Creo que moriste en la cruz por mis pecados, fuiste enterrado y resucitaste de entre los muertos al tercer día. Quiero que vengas a mi vida y seas mi Señor y Salvador. Por favor entra en mi corazón ahora mismo. Perdóname por todos mis pecados y salva mi alma. En el poderoso Nombre de Jesús, oro, ¡Amén!”
