The theme of this Chapter is “Look back to the Finished Work of Christ on the cross for your spiritual completion”:

This letter was written to the Jews of the first century who had been saved under the Old Covenant using the system of animal sacrifices in the Temple of Herod and the priesthood of Aaron and his sons.

But now that Christ had already atoned for the sins of the world on the cross of Calvary in 33 A.D., those Jews needed to move from the Old Covenant of repeated animal sacrifices to the New Covenant of Christ, which was based only on his sacrifice on the cross, which was finished and completed, once for all time: never to be repeated. This is a very important point, from which I will make applications in this study.

This process of moving from the Old to the New Covenant was one of completion for these Jews. They were already the children of God by faith! But they were incomplete in their faith without Christ as the center of their faith: it was time for them to grow up and embrace Christ, or be judged by Jehovah for their disobedience.

This letter was not written for anyone outside of this group of people; either they became followers of Christ (we know that some of them did), or they continued under the Old Covenant and were punished with death in the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple in 70 A.D.

We can apply many spiritual lessons for Christians today; but the interpretation of this letter belongs only to the Jews of the first century. Any other interpretation will lead you into doctrinal errors.

Now, let’s look at the flow of Chapter 1.3 to help us understand the context:

Chapter 1.3: Look back to the Finished Work of Christ on the cross for your spiritual completion (8:1 - 10:31)

§Complement Introduction: Jesus is the High Priest in Heaven of the New Covenant, which has replaced the Old Covenant (8:1 - 13)

¶Opposite Jesus is the High Priest of the true Tabernacle in Heaven with the responsibility to offer something to God the Father (8:1 - 5)

¶Opposite The Old Covenant was replaced by the New Covenant, because the Jews did not continue in it (8:6 - 13)

§Complement Body: Jesus fulfilled the type of the Day of Atonement with his sacrifice on the cross, once for all time (9:1 - 10:14)

¶Unique The Day of Atonement ceremony by the priest of Aaron was temporary, imperfect, and repeated every year (9:1 - 10)

¶Complement The New Covenant was dedicated by Christ once with his own blood (9:11 - 17)

¶Complement The Old Covenant was dedicated by Moses once with the blood of calves and goats (9:18 - 22)

¶Opposite Jesus entered into the Holy place as the High Priest with his blood to put away sin, once for all time (9:23 - 28)

¶Opposite Jesus became the final sacrifice for sin on the cross to replace the Old with the New Covenant (10:1 - 14)

§Unique Conclusion: Enter into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus or face the consequences of your rebellion against God (10:15 - 31)

¶Complement There is no need for another animal sacrifice for sin, so enter now into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus as a priest yourself (10:15 - 22)

¶Complement But if you continue offering animal sacrifices, you will soon face the consequences of your rebellion against God (10:23 - 31)

Comments: We continue our study of Hebrews Chapter 1.3 in the Golden Ratio design with the last two paragraphs in the Conclusion section.

Notice in the themes of the sections, that the Conclusion is unique compared to the Introduction and the Body sections. The Apostle Paul laid out his case to these Jews of the first century that Jesus was their new High Priest in Heaven according to the order of Melchizedek; and he demonstrated from the Law of Moses that the Atonement of Christ on the cross was the fulfillment of the animal sacrifices that were offered every year on the Day of Atonement (or Yom Kippur).

In the Conclusion, he uses this foundation to urge these Jews to embrace Christ as their Messiah or face the consequences of their rebellion against the will of God.

They were already the children of God by faith in the temporary atonement for sins that was once available to them under the Old Covenant through the animal sacrifices in the Temple of Herod in Jerusalem. But now, that door to God was closed forever, because the Atonement of Christ had fulfilled all of those types that had prefigured the Atonement of Christ.

The type of Christ was no longer sufficient for the forgiveness of sins: only the fulfillment of the type was acceptable to God now!

§Unique Conclusion: Enter into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus or face the consequences of your rebellion against God (10:15 - 31)

¶Complement There is no need for another animal sacrifice for sin, so enter now into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus as a priest yourself (10:15 - 22)

Opposite Therefore the Holy Spirit also is a witness to us: for after he had said before, “‘This is the Covenant that I will make with them after those days,’ says [Jehovah]: ‘I will put my Laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.’”

Opposite So, where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no more need for an offering for sin.

Complement Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he has consecrated for us through the veil (that is to say, his flesh);

Complement and having a permanent High Priest over the House of God,

Unique let us draw near to God with a true heart, in full assurance of faith: having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Comments:

Opposite So, where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no more need for an offering for sin.

Paul concluded his argument to these Jews of the first century who were saved before the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ with these words. He had said all that he could say with presenting his argument toward them, that they needed to move onward from animal sacrifices in the Temple of Herod to complete trust in the Finished Work of Jesus Christ for their completion as New Covenant believers in Jehovah God in Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:18-19: “And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ; and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation: namely, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, not imputing their trespasses to them; and has committed to us the Word of reconciliation.”

Now I want to talk about something very important in this text of Hebrews, which is the doctrine of the priesthood of every believer in Jesus Christ. It is also found in the first letter of Peter:

1 Peter 2:1-5: “Therefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisy, and envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the Word, that you may grow thereby (if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious); to whom continually coming, as to a Living Stone (being rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, and precious), YOU ALSO, AS LIVING STONES, ARE BEING BUILT UP A SPIRITUAL HOUSE, A HOLY PRIESTHOOD TO OFFER UP SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.”

1 Peter 2:9-10: “BUT YOU ARE A CHOSEN GENERATION, A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, a holy nation, and a special people, that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous Light; which in times past were not a people, but are now the people of God; which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.”

Revelation 1:5-6: “and from Jesus Christ, who is the Faithful Witness, the First Begotten of the dead, and the Prince of the kings of the earth; unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and has made us kings and priests to God and his Father: unto him be glory and dominion into the Ages of the Ages; Amen.”

For years, I read these words and I did not understand them; but in light of the letter to the Hebrews, it makes perfect sense!

Peter said that born-again believers (1 Peter 1:3, 23) were:

1) a holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices

2) a royal priesthood

Revelation 1:6: Christ “has made us kings and priests to God and his Father.”

Now let’s put this into context with our passage in Hebrews.

Complement Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he has consecrated for us through the veil (that is to say, his flesh);

Complement and having a permanent High Priest over the House of God,

Unique let us draw near to God with a true heart, in full assurance of faith: having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

“Our bodies washed with pure water”

This is a reference to the priests of Aaron who washed themselves in the laver of water before they approached Jehovah. This does not mean that a believer must bathe with water before we approach the Lord Jesus in prayer (although it doesn’t hurt!); but it does mean that we should repent of all sins and turn our heart toward the Lord without reservation when we approach the Lord Jesus in prayer. It is a figurative expression for a New Covenant believer in Christ, because we do not have a Temple on Earth today with a laver and animal sacrifices; and do not need one: our Temple is in Heaven and our Sacrifice is the Finished Work of Christ; Amen!

The Apostle Paul has been explaining for the last 3 chapters of Hebrews that Christ has done away with the office of high priest according to Aaron; and Christ has replaced the sons of Aaron with Himself as the High Priest according to Melchizedek.

As the new High Priest of God, Christ took his own blood that was shed on the cross of Calvary, and presented it before God the Father in the true Temple of God in Heaven, where it will remain forever.

But after Christ had done that, He sat down on the right hand of God! In other words, He was done; Christ had nothing more to do with atoning for our sins. His Work of Salvation was finished and complete forever, never to be repeated! Amen.

Hebrews 10:12-13: “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins into perpetuity, SAT DOWN ON THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD, from henceforth waiting until his enemies are made his footstool”

In other words, Christ executed his office of High Priest one time only! And after that, He sat down at the right hand of God until it is time for Him to return to bring his children home in the Rapture! Amen.

But look at what Paul wrote:

Hebrews 10:19-22: “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he has consecrated for us through the veil (that is to say, his flesh); and having a permanent High Priest over the House of God, let us draw near to God with a true heart, in full assurance of faith: having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.”

Paul exhorted these Jews to follow Christ into the Holy Place in Heaven through prayer!

This was completely new and different than the Old Covenant, where only the high priest of Aaron or his descendant could enter into the Holy Place in the Tabernacle or the Temple in Jerusalem; and only once a year on Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement).

Anyone else who attempted to do this would be instantly killed, even another Levite who was not the high priest! God takes all sin SERIOUSLY, even the smallest! Amen.

But now, Paul INVITED every believer in Christ to come BOLDLY to God in the Holy Place, because Christ has already offered the necessary sacrifice for our sins, and there is no longer any need for another. Hallelujah!

Hebrews 4:16: “Therefore, let us come boldly to the Throne of Grace, that we may obtain mercy; and find grace to help in time of need.”

You see, the high priest of Aaron was a type of the New Covenant believer in Jesus Christ! We have taken the place of the priest of Aaron with the exception that our sacrifice is not an animal, but the blood of Christ, which is in Heaven! Amen.

We have the same privileges that Aaron had to come into the Holy Place, except that we have more! We can come directly to God through Jesus Christ, as often as we want, and at any time of the year; and, our Holy Place is in Heaven; Amen.

So, if I am able to do what the high priest of Aaron could do (and more), that makes me a priest, does it not? Yes, it does! Amen.

And this New Covenant priesthood is not limited to Jews only, but to all believers in Christ. Amen. Yes, this letter was addressed to Jews who were still incomplete in their faith; however, as the Scriptures in Revelation 1:5-6 and I Peter 2:1-5, 9-10 prove, it also applies to both Jews and Gentiles.

The position of the New Covenant believer in Jesus Christ is an exalted one, my friends! We truly are kings and priests before God under the New Covenant (Revelation 1:5-6). We have not yet received our position as kings under Christ the King of all kings; but we will, in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ:

1 Corinthians 6:2-3: “Do you not know that the saints shall judge the world? And if the world shall be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Do you not know that we shall judge angels?”

Now, let’s make an application of this Scriptural doctrine of the priesthood of every believer in Christ:

1) The Roman Catholic religion teaches that “the Church” is composed of a priesthood and the laity (everyone else). This is obviously a lie, because the Bible clearly teaches that all believers are priests of God, and can approach the throne of grace of Jesus all by themselves without the help of another. We do not need Mary, or the saints, or even a pastor to approach the Lord Jesus Christ!

2) The Roman Catholic religion teaches that priests are only appointed by their higher authority that goes up to the pope; but this is obviously a lie, because the Bible clearly teaches that Christ is the only one who can make a person a priest of God.

There is no need whatsoever for another intermediary to make a sinner into a priest, because when a sinner calls upon the Name of Jesus Christ to save them, their sins are forgiven by God; and the Holy Spirit of God immediately makes him or her into a child of God, and a priest under Jesus, with full authority to come boldly to the throne of grace anytime that they desire, as often as they desire.

Also, we do not need a church or a pastor to boldly approach to the Lord Jesus Christ! We can do this without their help at any time, and in any place that we choose.

Notwithstanding, we do need churches and pastors, because they are training grounds, or schools, for believers to learn the Scriptures; and also to learn how to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. This is very important for all believers in Christ.

Hebrews 10:24-25: "and let us consider one another, to provoke unto love and to good works; not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching."

A pastor is a helper of our joy, not a lord over our faith.

2 Corinthians 1:23-24: “Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I did not come as yet to Corinth; not because we rule over your faith, but rather are helpers of your joy: for by faith you stand.”

In other words, churches and pastors have very important roles and places in the lives of born again Christians, but they cannot save anyone: only Jesus can do that!

Shame on the popes and priests of Rome, who have made themselves into a false priesthood with no authority from the Bible! They have claimed a status for themselves which clearly does not agree with the Holy Scriptures!

There is only one priesthood, and it includes ALL BORN AGAIN BELIEVERS; Amen.

I want to make some additional application to believers today:

1) Do you take advantage of your great privilege before God to go before Him in prayer? When was the last time that you spent an entire hour with the Lord Jesus in prayer?

2) All born again Christians are a Kingdom of priests with the Lord Jesus Christ as our one King, not a Kingdom that is divided into priests and a "laity"! The Roman Catholic religion is not Christianity! It is based on this massive lie of a kingdom with priests and a "laity" (people who cannot directly access God unless they pray to Mary first, or the priest says a "mass" for them, which is ridiculous!). I hope that you can see from the Scriptures that this religion is not of God, and that you need to find a Bible-believing church that will lead you in the right direction toward Heaven and the truth of God, not toward Hell and a system of lies!

I recommend only Independent and Fundamental (e.g. not Southern Baptist or northern Baptist, not Protestant or Charismatic/Pentecostal), Bible-believing, Baptist churches; or at least a church which is very similar.

The only churches which are still preaching the Bible as the Word of God are the Fundamental Baptist churches! Southern Baptist churches have become more of a denomination lately, which is not good. Protestant churches came out of Roman Catholicism; over 100 years ago, there were many Protestant churches that preached the Bible and the need to be born again; but today, most are corrupted with liberal doctrines that are not found in the Bible. Charismatic and Pentecostal churches are very weak in Bible doctrine, if you can find any; and they are riddled with false teachings!

Opposite Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering (for he is faithful that promised);

Opposite and let us consider one another, to provoke unto love and to good works; not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching.

Complement For if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

Complement He that despised Moses’ Law died without mercy under two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden the Son of God under his foot; and has counted the blood of the Covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has outraged the Spirit of grace?

Unique For we know him that has said, “‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay,’ says [Jehovah].” And again, “[Jehovah] shall judge his people.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Comments: In this paragraph, Paul warned his Jewish readers, who had been saved under the Old Covenant, that now they must move their faith from the animal sacrifices in the Temple to the Finished Work of Christ, or face the consequences of their disobedience to their Heavenly Father.

Does God judge his children? Yes, He does!

Hebrews 10:30-31: "For we know him that has said, “‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay,’ says [Jehovah].” And again, “[Jehovah] shall judge HIS PEOPLE.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."

But we can also apply this truth to Christians today: Can a Christian today sin in such a way that God must judge them and even take their life early? Yes, they can, and God has done that many times!

God takes all sin seriously; and when a child of God deliberately turns away from God and decides to go his or her own way against the will of God, there will be trouble!

But if you can sin against God, and nothing changes for you, then this is proof that you do not truly know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior: you are a false Christian!

Hebrews 12:7-8: “If you endure discipline, God deals with you as with sons: for what son is he whom the father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline, whereof all are partakers, then you are illegitimate, and not truly sons of God.”

The only place of safety for a believer is in the exact center of the will of God for their life! Any other place will bring many trials and tribulations, with sorry and regret.

But if we dwell in the center of the will of God for our life, and that includes baptism in deep water and regular attendence at a Bible preaching, Bible believing church, then God will bless us and fill our lives with his joy! Amen.

One preacher said, “You will trip over happiness doing the will of God.” That is very true!

Friend, if you are a Jew, Muslim, Hindu, Roman Catholic, Jehovah’s Witness, Mormon (or other cultist), atheist, agnostic or a false Christian, you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, and you will never see Heaven in your current unbelief!

You are like Pharoah of old:

Exodus 5:2: “And Pharaoh said, “Who is Jehovah, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I do not know Jehovah; neither will I let Israel go.””

I pray that you will repent of your unbelief in Him and turn to Jesus Christ right now in repentance of your sins and your false gods, and believe on Him as your Final Sacrifice for sins forever. Receive Him now as your personal Savior and receive his free gift of Eternal Life!

Here is a prayer that you can use to be saved and know that you have Eternal Life and you can KNOW for certain that you have Eternal Life, right now!

“Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against YOU. I am no good, and you are righteous! You are my only hope for salvation! I believe that you died on the cross for my sins, you were buried, and you rose again from the dead on the third day. I want you to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. Please come into my heart right now. Forgive me for all my sins, and save my soul. In the mighty Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen!”

Esta carta fue escrita a los judíos del primer siglo que se habían salvado bajo el Antiguo Pacto usando el sistema de sacrificios de animales en el Templo de Herodes y el sacerdocio de Aarón y sus hijos.

¶El complemento Pero si sigues ofreciendo sacrificios de animales, pronto enfrentarás las consecuencias de tu rebelión contra Dios (10:23 - 31)

Comentarios: Continuamos nuestro estudio del Capítulo 1.3 de Hebreos en el diseño de la Proporción Áurea con los dos últimos párrafos en la sección de Conclusión.

Observe en los temas de las secciones, que la Conclusión es única en comparación con las secciones Introducción y Cuerpo. El apóstol Pablo expuso su caso a estos judíos del primer siglo de que Jesús era su nuevo Sumo Sacerdote en el cielo según el orden de Melquisedec; y demostró a partir de la Ley de Moisés que la Expiación de Cristo en la cruz era el cumplimiento de los sacrificios de animales que se ofrecían todos los años en el Día de la Expiación (o Yom Kippur).

En la Conclusión, usa este fundamento para instar a estos judíos a abrazar a Cristo como su Mesías o enfrentar las consecuencias de su rebelión contra la voluntad de Dios.

Ya eran hijos de Dios por la fe en la expiación temporal por los pecados que una vez estuvo disponible para ellos bajo el Antiguo Pacto a través de los sacrificios de animales en el Templo de Herodes en Jerusalén. Pero ahora, esa puerta a Dios estaba cerrada para siempre, porque la Expiación de Cristo había cumplido todos esos tipos que habían prefigurado la Expiación de Cristo.

El tipo de Cristo ya no era suficiente para el perdón de los pecados: ¡solo el cumplimiento del tipo era aceptable para Dios ahora!

§Único Conclusión: Entrad al Lugar Santísimo por la sangre de Jesús o enfrente las consecuencias de vuestro rebelión contra Dios (10:15 - 31)

¶El complemento No hay necesidad de otro sacrificio, así que entra ahora en el Lugar Santísimo por la sangre de Jesús como sacerdote ti mismo (10:15 - 22)

Lo opuesto Por lo tanto, el Espíritu Santo también es un testigo a nosotros: porque después de que él había dicho antes, “‘Éste es el Pacto que haré con ellos después de esos días,’ dice [Jehová], ‘Pondré mis Leyes en sus corazones; y en sus mentes, las escribiré; y sus pecados e iniquidades, no recordaré más.’”

Lo opuesto Así que, donde hay perdón de estas cosas, ya no hay necesidad de ofrenda por el pecado.

El complemento Por lo tanto, hermanos, teniendo audacia para entrar en el lugar santísimo por la sangre de Jesús, por un camino nuevo y vivo cual él ha consagrado para nosotros a través del velo (es decir, su carne);

El complemento y teniendo un Sumo Sacerdote permanente sobre la Casa de Dios,

Único acerquémonos a Dios con corazón sincero, en plena certidumbre de fe: teniendo nuestros corazones purificados desde una mala conciencia, y nuestros cuerpos lavados con agua pura.

Comentarios:

Lo opuesto Así que, donde hay perdón de estas cosas, ya no hay necesidad de ofrenda por el pecado.

Pablo concluyó su argumento a estos judíos del primer siglo que fueron salvados antes de la muerte, sepultura y resurrección de Cristo con estas palabras. Había dicho todo lo que podía decir al presentarles su argumento, que necesitaban pasar de los sacrificios de animales en el Templo de Herodes a una confianza total en la Obra Terminada de Jesucristo para su culminación como creyentes del Nuevo Pacto en Jehová Dios en Cristo.

2 Corintios 5:18-19: “Y todas las cosas son de Dios, quien nos reconcilió con sí mismo por medio de Jesucristo; y nos ha dado el ministerio de la reconciliación: a saber, que Dios estaba en Cristo, reconciliando al mundo consigo, no imputándoles sus transgresiones; y nos ha encomendado la Palabra de reconciliación.”

Ahora quiero hablar de algo muy importante en este texto de Hebreos, que es la doctrina del sacerdocio de todo creyente en Jesucristo. También se encuentra en la primera carta de Pedro:

1 Pedro 2:1-5: Por tanto, desechando toda malicia, y todo engaño, e hipocresía, y envidia, y todas las malas palabras, como niños recién nacidos, desead la leche pura de la Palabra, para que por ella crezcáis (si en verdad si habéis probado que el Señor fuera clemente); a quien viniendo continuamente, como a una Piedra Viva (desechados ciertamente por los hombres, pero elegidos por Dios, y preciosos), USTEDES TAMBIÉN, COMO PIEDRAS VIVAS, SE ESTÁIS SIENDO EDIFICANDO ARRIBA UNA CASA ESPIRITUAL, UN SANTO SACERDOCIO PARA OFRECER ARRIBA SACRIFICIOS ESPIRITUALES, aceptables para Dios por Jesucristo.

1 Pedro 2:9-10: “PERO USTEDES SOIS LINAJE ESCOGIDO, REAL SACERDOCIO, nación santa, y un pueblo especial: para que anunciéis las virtudes de Aquel que os llamó de las tinieblas a su Luz admirable; 2:10cual en tiempos pasados, no erais pueblo, pero ahora sois el pueblo de Dios; cual no habíais alcanzado misericordia, pero ahora habéis alcanzado misericordia.”

La Revelación 1:5-6: “y desde Jesucristo, quien es el Testigo Fiel, el Primogénito de los muertos, y el Príncipe de los reyes de la tierra; al que nos amó, y nos lavó desde nuestros pecados en su propia sangre; y nos hizo reyes y sacerdotes para Dios y su Padre: a él sea la gloria y el dominio hasta las edades de las edades; Amén.”

Durante años, leí estas palabras y no las entendía; pero a la luz de la carta a los Hebreos, ¡tiene perfecto sentido!

Pedro dijo que los creyentes nacidos de nuevo (1 Pedro 1:3, 23) eran:

1) un sacerdocio santo para ofrecer sacrificios espirituales

2) un sacerdocio real

La Revelación 1:6: Cristo “nos ha hecho reyes y sacerdotes para Dios y su Padre”.

Ahora pongamos esto en contexto con nuestro pasaje en Hebreos.

El complemento y teniendo un Sumo Sacerdote permanente sobre la Casa de Dios,

Único acerquémonos a Dios con corazón sincero, en plena certidumbre de fe: teniendo nuestros corazones purificados desde una mala conciencia, y nuestros cuerpos lavados con agua pura.

“Nuestros cuerpos lavados con agua pura”

Esta es una referencia a los sacerdotes de Aarón que se lavaron en la fuente de agua antes de acercarse a Jehová. Esto no significa que un creyente deba bañarse con agua antes de acercarnos al Señor Jesús en oración (¡aunque no duele!); pero sí significa que debemos arrepentirnos de todos los pecados y volver nuestro corazón hacia el Señor sin reservas cuando nos acercamos al Señor Jesús en oración. Es una expresión figurativa para un creyente del Nuevo Pacto en Cristo, porque hoy no tenemos Templo en la Tierra con una fuente y sacrificios de animales; y no lo necesitamos: nuestro Templo está en el Cielo y nuestro Sacrificio es la Obra Terminada de Cristo; Amén.

El Apóstol Pablo ha estado explicando durante los últimos 3 capítulos de Hebreos que Cristo ha eliminado el oficio de sumo sacerdote según Aarón; y Cristo ha reemplazado a los hijos de Aarón con Él mismo como Sumo Sacerdote según Melquisedec.

Como nuevo Sumo Sacerdote de Dios, Cristo tomó su propia sangre que fue derramada en la cruz del Calvario; y lo presentó ante Dios Padre en el verdadero Templo de Dios en el Cielo, donde ello permanecerá para siempre.

¡Pero después de Cristo hubo hecho eso, se sentó a la diestra de Dios! In other words, He was done; Christ had nothing more to do with atoning for our sins. His Work of Salvation was finished and complete forever, never to be repeated! Amen.

Hebreos 10:12-13: “Pero este hombre, después él había ofrecido uno sacrificio por los pecados hasta perpetuidad, se sentó a la diestra de Dios, desde ese momento en adelante esperando hasta que sus enemigos son hechos su escabel”

En otras palabras, ¡Cristo ejecutó su oficio de Sumo Sacerdote una sola vez! ¡Y después de eso, se sentó a la diestra de Dios hasta que sea hora de que Él regrese para traer a sus hijos a casa en el Rapto! Amén.

Pero mira lo que Pablo escribió:

Hebreos 10:19-22: “Por lo tanto, hermanos, teniendo audacia para entrar en el lugar santísimo por la sangre de Jesús, por un camino nuevo y vivo cual él ha consagrado para nosotros a través del velo (es decir, su carne); y teniendo un Sumo Sacerdote permanente sobre la Casa de Dios, acerquémonos a Dios con corazón sincero, en plena certidumbre de fe: teniendo nuestros corazones purificados desde una mala conciencia, y nuestros cuerpos lavados con agua pura.”

¡Pablo exhortó a estos judíos a seguir a Cristo al Lugar Santo en el Cielo a través de la oración!

Esto era completamente nuevo y diferente al Antiguo Pacto, donde solo el sumo sacerdote de Aarón o su descendiente podía entrar al Lugar Santo en el Tabernáculo o el Templo en Jerusalén; y solo una vez al año en Yom Kippur (el Día de la Expiación).

¡Cualquier otra persona que intentara hacer esto sería instantáneamente asesinado, incluso otro levita que no fuera el sumo sacerdote! ¡Dios toma todos los pecados EN SERIO, incluso los más pequeños! Amén.

Pero ahora, Pablo INVITÓ a todo creyente en Cristo a venir AUDAZMENTE a Dios en el Lugar Santo, porque Cristo ya ha ofrecido el sacrificio necesario por nuestros pecados, y ya no hay necesidad de otro. ¡Aleluya!

Hebreos 4:16: “Por lo tanto, vengamos audazmente al Trono de la Gracia, que podamos obtener misericordia; y encontrar gracia para ayudar en tiempos de necesidad.”

¡Ves, el sumo sacerdote de Aarón era un tipo del creyente del Nuevo Pacto en Jesucristo! ¡Hemos tomado el lugar del sacerdote de Aarón con la excepción de que nuestro sacrificio no es un animal, sino la sangre de Cristo, que está en el Cielo! Amén.

Tenemos los mismos privilegios que tuvo Aarón para entrar al Lugar Santo, ¡excepto que tenemos más! Podemos venir directamente a Dios a través de Jesucristo, cuantas veces queramos, y en cualquier época del año; y, nuestro Lugar Santo está en el Cielo; Amén.

Entonces, si soy capaz de hacer lo que el sumo sacerdote de Aarón podía hacer (y más), eso me convierte en sacerdote, ¿no es así? ¡Sí, lo hace! Amén.

Y este sacerdocio del Nuevo Pacto no se limita sólo a los judíos, sino a todos los creyentes en Cristo. Amén. Sí, esta carta fue dirigida a judíos que aún estaban incompletos en su fe; sin embargo, como prueban las Escrituras en la Revelación 1:5-6 y I Pedro 2:1-5, 9-10, también se aplica tanto a judíos como a gentiles.

¡La posición del creyente del Nuevo Pacto en Jesucristo es una posición exaltada, mis amigos! Verdaderamente somos reyes y sacerdotes ante Dios bajo el Nuevo Pacto (La Revelación 1:5-6). Todavía no hemos recibido nuestra posición como reyes bajo Cristo, el Rey de todos los reyes; pero lo haremos, en el Reino de Jesucristo:

1 Corintios 6:2-3: “¿No sabéis que los santos juzgarán al mundo? Y si el mundo será juzgado por ustedes, ¿eres indigno de juzgar las cosas más pequeñas? ¿No sabéis que juzgaremos a los ángeles?”

Ahora, hagamos una aplicación de esta doctrina bíblica del sacerdocio de todo creyente en Cristo:

1) La religión católica romana enseña que “la Iglesia” está compuesta por un sacerdocio y los laicos (todos los demás). Esto es obviamente una mentira, porque la Biblia enseña claramente que todos los creyentes son sacerdotes de Dios, y pueden acercarse al trono de la gracia del Señor Jesús por sí mismos sin la ayuda de otro. ¡No necesitamos a María, ni a los santos, ni siquiera a un pastor para acercarnos al Señor Jesucristo!

2) La religión católica romana enseña que los sacerdotes solo son designados por su autoridad superior que llega hasta el papa; pero esto es obviamente una mentira, porque la Biblia enseña claramente que Cristo es el único que puede hacer a una persona sacerdote de Dios.

No hay necesidad de ningún otro intermediario para hacer sacerdote a un pecador, porque cuando un pecador invoca el Nombre de Jesucristo para salvarlo, sus pecados son perdonados por Dios; y el Espíritu Santo de Dios Dios inmediatamente hace a él o ella en un hijo de Dios y en un sacerdote bajo Jesús, con plena autoridad para acercarse confiadamente al trono de la gracia en cualquier momento que deseen, con la frecuencia que deseen.

Además, ¡ni necesitamos una iglesia o un pastor para acercarnos con valentía al Señor Jesucristo! Podemos hacer esto sin la ayuda de ellos en cualquier momento y en cualquier lugar que elijamos.

Ni obstante, necesitamos iglesias y pastores, porque son campos de entrenamiento, o escuelas, para que los creyentes aprendan las Escrituras; y también para aprender como a seguir al Señor Jesucristo. Esto es muy importante para todos los creyentes en Cristo.

Hebreos 10:24-25: "y déjanos consideremos el uno al otro, para provocar a amor y las buenas obras; no abandonando la reunión de nosotros mismos juntos, como la manera de algunos es, sino exhortando unos a otros; y tanto más, como veis que se acerca al día."

Un pastor es un ayudante de nuestro gozo, no un señor sobre nuestra fe.

2 Corintios 1:23-24: “Invoco a Dios por testigo sobre mi alma, que por ser indulgente con vosotros no he pasado todavía a Corinto; no porque gobernamos sobre tu fe, sino más bien como ayudadores de vuestro gozo; porque por la fe estáis firmes.”

En otras palabras, las iglesias y los pastores tienen papeles y lugares muy importantes en la vida de los cristianos nacidos de nuevo, pero no pueden salvar a nadie: ¡solo Jesús puede hacerlo!

¡Vergüenza de los papas y sacerdotes de Roma, que se han hecho a ellos mismos en un falso sacerdocio sin autoridad desde la Palabra de Dios! ¡Han reclamado un estatus para ellos mismos que claramente no está de acuerdo con las Sagradas Escrituras!

Hay un solo sacerdocio, e incluye a TODOS LOS CREYENTES NACIDOS DE NUEVO; Amén.

Quiero hacer algunas aplicaciones adicionales para los creyentes de hoy:

1) ¿Aprovechas tu gran privilegio ante Dios para ir ante Él en oración? ¿Cuándo fue la última vez que pasaste una hora entera con el Señor Jesús en oración?

2) ¡Todos los cristianos nacidos de nuevo son un Reino espiritual de sacerdotes con el Señor Jesucristo como nuestro único Rey, no un Reino que está dividido en sacerdotes y "los seglares"!

¡La religión católica romana no es el cristianismo! Se basa en esta mentira masiva de un reino con sacerdotes y "los seglares" (personas que ni pueden acceder directamente a Dios a menos que primero recen a María, o el sacerdote diga una "misa" para ellos, ¡lo cual es ridículo!). Espero que pueda ver en las Escrituras que esta religión no es de Dios, y que necesita encontrar una iglesia que crea en la Biblia que lo guíe en la dirección correcta hacia el Cielo y la verdad de Dios, pero no hacia el Infierno y un sistema de mentiras!

Recomiendo solo iglesias independientes y fundamentales (por ejemplo, no bautistas del sur o bautistas del norte, no protestantes o carismáticas/pentecostales), Biblia creyendo, iglesias bautistas; o al menos una iglesia que es muy similar.

¡Las únicas iglesias que todavía están predicando la Biblia como la Palabra de Dios son las iglesias Bautistas Fundamentales! Las iglesias bautistas del sur se han vuelto más una denominación últimamente, lo cual no es bueno. Las iglesias protestantes surgieron del catolicismo romano; Hace más de 100 años, había muchas iglesias protestantes que predicaban la Biblia y la necesidad de nacer de nuevo; pero hoy, la mayoría están corrompidos con doctrinas liberales que no se encuentran en la Biblia. Las iglesias carismáticas y pentecostales son muy débiles en la doctrina bíblica, si puede encontrar alguna; ¡y están plagados de falsas enseñanzas! Entonces, si desea asistir a una iglesia que sigue fielmente las Escrituras, solo puedo recomendar una iglesia bautista independiente. ¶El complemento Pero si sigues ofreciendo sacrificios de animales, pronto enfrentarás las consecuencias de tu rebelión contra Dios (10:23 - 31)

Lo opuesto Mantengámonos firmes la profesión de nuestra fe sin vacilante (porque él es fiel quien prometió);

Lo opuesto y déjanos consideremos el uno al otro, para provocar a amor y las buenas obras; no abandonando la reunión de nosotros mismos juntos, como la manera de algunos es, sino exhortando unos a otros; y tanto más, como veis que se acerca al día.

El complemento Porque si continuamos pecando deliberadamente, después hemos recibido el conocimiento de la verdad, no hay más sacrificio por los pecados, sino cierta expectativa temerosa de juicio e indignación de fuego, el cual devorará a los adversarios.

El complemento Él que despreciaba la Ley de Moisés murió sin misericordia bajo dos o tres testigos. ¿De cuánto peor castigo, suponéis, se le considerará digno, quién ha pisado el Hijo de Dios bajo los pies, y ha contado la sangre del pacto, con la cual fue santificado, una cosa profana, y ha ultrajado al Espíritu de gracia?

Único Porque le conocemos que ha dicho, “‘La venganza me pertenece; pagaré,’ dice [Jehová].” Y otra vez, “[Jehová] juzgará a su pueblo.” ¡Es una cosa horrorosa es caer en manos del Dios vivo!

Comentarios: En este párrafo, Pablo advirtió a sus lectores judíos, quien habían sido salvados bajos el Antiguo Pacto, que ahora deben trasladar su fe desde los sacrificios de animales en el Templo a la Obra Terminada de Cristo, o enfrentar las consecuencias de su desobediencia a su Padre Celestial.

¿Dios juzga a sus hijos? ¡Sí, él lo hace!

Hebreos 10:30-31: "Porque le conocemos que ha dicho, “‘La venganza me pertenece; pagaré,’ dice [Jehová].” Y otra vez, “[Jehová] juzgará a su pueblo.” ¡Es una cosa horrorosa es caer en manos del Dios vivo!"

Pero también podemos aplicar esta verdad a los cristianos de hoy: ¿Puede un cristiano hoy pecar de tal manera que Dios deba juzgarlo e incluso quitarle la vida antes de tiempo? ¡Sí, pueden y Dios ha hecho eso muchas veces!

Dios toma todo pecado en serio; y cuando un hijo de Dios deliberadamente se aleja de Dios y decide seguir su propio camino en contra de la voluntad de Dios, ¡habrá problemas!

Pero si puedes pecar contra Dios, y nada cambia para ti, entonces esta es la prueba que realmente no conoces al Señor Jesucristo como tu Salvador: ¡eres un falso cristiano!

Hebreos 12:7-8: “Si soportáis el castigo, Dios os trata como con hijos: porque ¿qué hijo es aquel a quien el padre no castiga? Pero si seáis sin el castigo, del cual todos son hechos partícipes, entonces ustedes son ilegítimos, y no sois verdaderamente hijos de Dios.”

¡El único lugar de seguridad para un creyente está en el centro exacto de la voluntad de Dios para su vida! Cualquier otro lugar traerá muchas pruebas y tribulaciones, con pesar y arrepentimiento.

Pero si habitamos en el centro de la voluntad de Dios para nuestra vida, y eso incluye el bautismo en aguas profundas y la asistencia regular a una iglesia que predica la Biblia y cree en la Biblia, ¡entonces Dios nos bendecirá y llenará nuestras vidas con su alegría! Amén.

Un predicador dijo: “Tropezarás con la felicidad haciendo la voluntad de Dios”. ¡Eso es muy cierto!

Amigo, si eres judío, musulmán, hindú, católico romano, testigo de Jehová, mormón (u otra secta), ateo, agnóstico o falso cristiano, no conoces al Señor Jesucristo como tu Salvador, ¡y nunca verás el Cielo en tu actual incredulidad!

Eres como el faraón de antaño:

Éxodo 5:2: “Y dijo Faraón: ¿Quién es Jehová, para que yo obedezca su voz y deje ir a Israel? No conozco a Jehová; ni dejaré ir a Israel.””

Oro para que te arrepientas de tu incredulidad en Él y te vuelvas a Jesucristo ahora mismo en arrepentimiento de tus pecados y tus dioses falsos, y creas en Él como tu Sacrificio final por los pecados para siempre. ¡Recíbele ahora como tu Salvador personal y recibe su regalo gratuito de Vida Eterna!

Aquí hay una oración que puedes usar para ser salvado y puedes SABER con certeza que tienes Vida Eterna, ¡ahora mismo!

“Señor Jesús, sé que he pecado contra TI. ¡No soy bueno y tú eres justo! Creo que moriste en la cruz por mis pecados, fuiste enterrado y resucitaste de entre los muertos al tercer día. Quiero que vengas a mi vida y seas mi Señor y Salvador. Por favor entra en mi corazón ahora mismo. Perdóname por todos mis pecados y salva mi alma. En el poderoso Nombre de Jesús, oro, ¡Amén!”
