Volume 5 Introduction

We continue our study of the Letter to the Hebrews, with the Introduction section of Chapter 1.3 of the Letter to the Hebrews.

The theme of this Chapter is “Look back to the Finished Work of Christ on the cross for your spiritual completion”: I have explained in previous studies that the letter to the Hebrews is focused exclusively on reaching the Jewish believers under the Old Covenant in the first century, who were already saved; but now that the door to God was closed through the system of animal sacrifices in the Temple, God wanted them to move to embrace Christ as their Messiah to become complete Jews.

Today, Jews and Gentiles also look back to Christ; however, not to be complete, but to be saved! But that is the message of the letter to the Romans, not to the Hebrews. We must keep this in mind as we study Hebrews, or we will not understand this important letter.

First, let’s look at the flow of the entire letter to help us understand the context:

Book 5.1 (Hebrews & Romans): The Way into a New Covenant Relationship with Jehovah God

Complement Part 1 (Hebrews): For believing Jews under the Old Covenant during the first century (1:1 - 13:25)

Opposite Chapter 1.1: God the Son came to Earth to become a man to complete the work of Salvation on the cross (1:1 - 4:13)

Opposite Chapter 1.2: God the Son returned into Heaven to be our great High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek (4:14 - 7:28)

Complement Chapter 1.3: Look back to the Finished Work of Christ on the cross for your spiritual completion (8:1 - 10:31)

Complement Chapter 1.4: The Old Covenant saints looked forward with saving faith to their Messiah (10:32 -11:40)

Unique Chapter 1.5: Obey the will of Jehovah God to become a completed Jew in Jesus Christ your Messiah (12:1 -13:25)

In the preceding two Chapters, we studied how God the Son came down from Heaven to complete the work of Salvation on the cross to atone for our sins (1:1-4:13); and how God the Son returned into Heaven to be our great High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek (4:14 - 7:28).

These two themes oppose each other (came down to Earth, returned into Heaven); pretty obvious!

In Chapters 1.3 and 1.4, the themes complement each other, like two sides of the same coin (look back to the Finished Work of Christ on the cross, the Old Covenant saints looked forward to the coming of Christ):

Complement Chapter 1.4: The Old Covenant saints looked forward with saving faith to their Messiah (10:32 -11:40)

“Now of the things which we have spoken this is the main point”

These words at the beginning of Chapter 1.3 provide a break point in the letter to the Hebrews. The themes of the first two chapters oppose themselves, as I just explained.

The next three chapters are a group unto themselves, as you can see in the Golden Ratio design of the chapters above. There is a logical break between the two opposites and the two complements and one unique.

The two opposites always provide some kind of background information to the story in the main group of two complements and one unique. Or, if the direction is reversed, then the information in the two opposites is some kind of additional information that is not directly related to the story in the two complements and one unique.

So in this way, the contents of the text, as well as the themes, support the Golden Ratio design of the Bible.

Unique Chapter 1.5: Obey the will of Jehovah God to become a completed Jew in Jesus Christ your Messiah (12:1 -13:25)

And finally, in Chapter 1.5, Paul urged the Old Covenant Jews to obey their Father’s will to embrace Christ as their Messiah, or face his wrath; so it is unique compared to Chapters 1.3 and 1.4. So you should be able to easily discern the Golden Ratio design of these Chapters in Hebrews: two opposites, two complements, and one unique. Amen.

Now, let’s look at the flow of Chapter 1.3 to help us understand the context:

Chapter 1.3: Look back to the Finished Work of Christ on the cross for your spiritual completion (8:1 - 10:31)

§Complement Introduction: Jesus is the High Priest in Heaven of the New Covenant, which has replaced the Old Covenant (8:1 - 13)

¶Opposite Jesus is the High Priest of the true Tabernacle in Heaven with the responsibility to offer something to God the Father (8:1 - 5)

¶Opposite The Old Covenant was replaced by the New Covenant, because the Jews did not continue in it (8:6 - 13)

§Complement Body: Jesus fulfilled the type of the Day of Atonement with his sacrifice on the cross, once for all time (9:1 - 10:14)

¶Unique The Day of Atonement ceremony by the priest of Aaron was temporary, imperfect, and repeated every year (9:1 - 10)

¶Complement The New Covenant was dedicated by Christ once with his own blood (9:11 - 17)

¶Complement The Old Covenant was dedicated by Moses once with the blood of calves and goats (9:18 - 22)

¶Opposite Jesus entered into the Holy place in Heaven with his blood to put away sin, once for all time (9:23 - 28)

¶Opposite Jesus volunteered to become the final sacrifice for sin forever, once for all time (10:1 - 14)

§Unique Conclusion: Enter into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus or face the consequences of your rebellion against God (10:15 - 31)

¶Complement Enter into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus (10:15 - 22)

¶Complement Or, face the consequences of your rebellion against God (10:23 - 31)

Hebrews, Chapter 1.3: Look back to the Finished Work of Christ on the cross for your spiritual completion (8:1 - 10:31)

§Complement Introduction: Jesus is the High Priest in Heaven of the New Covenant, which has replaced the Old Covenant (8:1 - 13)

§Complement Body: Jesus fulfilled the type of the Day of Atonement with his sacrifice on the cross, once for all time (9:1 - 10:14)

§Unique Conclusion: Enter into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus or face the consequences of your rebellion against God (10:15 - 31)

Comments: In the Introduction (which complements the Body), Paul explained why the Old Covenant was annulled and replaced by the New Covenant.

In the Body (which complements the Introduction), Paul examined the great Feast Day of the Jews, the Day of Atonement, in light of the Finished Work of Christ.

In the Conclusion (which is unique), Paul again urged the Old Covenant Jews to embrace the Lord Jesus Christ as their Messiah or face the consequences, which were severe.

I hope that you can see how the Golden Ratio design of the Bible provides insight into the Scriptures that no other arrangement can match. This is NOT my arrangement! It is based on the actual contents of the Scriptures, which means that the Golden Ratio design of the Bible originated with God, and not man.

Now, let’s look at the Introduction Section in detail: it has two paragraphs with opposing themes:

¶Opposite Jesus is the High Priest of the true Tabernacle in Heaven with the responsibility to offer something to God the Father (8:1 - 5)

¶Opposite The Old Covenant was replaced by the New Covenant, because the Jews did not continue in it (8:6 - 13)

The internal Golden Ratio design of the sub-paragraphs also oppose each other: one unique, two complements, two opposites in paragraph 1; and the reverse in paragraph 2. This is the standard design for the introduction in almost all Chapters in the Bible.

§Complement Introduction: Jesus is the High Priest in Heaven of the New Covenant, which has replaced the Old Covenant (8:1 - 13)

¶Opposite Jesus is the High Priest of the true Tabernacle in Heaven with the responsibility to offer something to God the Father (8:1 - 5)

Unique Now of the things which we have spoken this is the main point: we have such a High Priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens: a minister of the Sanctuary and of the true Tabernacle, which the Lord pitched and not man.

Complement For every High Priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices;

Complement therefore it was necessary that this man have something also to offer.

Opposite For if he was on earth, he would not be a priest, seeing that there are Levite priests that offer gifts according to the Law, who serve according to the example and shadow of heavenly things;

Opposite as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the Tabernacle: for, “See,” says he, “that you make all things according to the design shown to you in the mountain.”

Comments: As I stated above, we have now arrived in the letter to the Hebrews at the main point, which Paul proceeds to explain in the rest of the letter.

The first two chapters explains the origins of Christ (He is God who came to Earth to atone for our sins on the cross); and that He returned into Heaven as the permanent High Priest according to Melchizedek forever and ever.

Now that Paul has established that Christ is the new High Priest, he proceeds to explain how the offering that Jesus made on the cross to atone for our sins is the fulfillment of the offering of animals that the high priests of Aaron performed once every year on the Day of Atonement (or, Yom Kippur).

This paragraph restates the first two chapters in a brief summary with a few bits of new information.

“A minister of the Sanctuary and of the true Tabernacle, which the Lord pitched and not man.”

This is a very important point, that many believers do not understand: The Temple in Jerusalem that was constructed by Solomon and reconstructed by Herod was A COPY of the true Tabernacle in Heaven! Aaron the high priest was an imperfect TYPE of the Christ who came to replace his ministry with his own high priesthood according to Melchizedek; and this ministry would be conducted in Heaven itself, in the true Tabernacle of God in Heaven.

Jesus Christ is Himself a Tabernacle of God in human flesh (now resurrected):

John 1:14: “And the Word became flesh, and Tabernacled among us; and we beheld his glory: the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

But that does not change the fact that there a real Tabernacle in Heaven, where God the Father dwells. Christ came to this Tabernacle in Heaven after his Resurrection and offered his Blood before God the Father for the sins of the world; and his Blood will remain there before God forever.

Complement therefore it was necessary that this man have something also to offer.

The offering that Jesus made was the Finished Work of Christ on the cross, which Paul discusses in detail in the Body Section, which we will cover in the next study.

¶Opposite The Old Covenant was replaced by the New Covenant, because the Jews did not continue in it (8:6 - 13)

Opposite But now, he has obtained a more excellent ministry, seeing that he also is the Mediator of a better Covenant, which was established upon better promises:

Opposite for if that first Covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for the second.

Complement For finding fault with them, he says, “‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘when I will make a New Covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah; but not according to the Covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt: for they did not continue in my Covenant, and I disregarded them,’ says the Lord.

Complement ‘For this is the Covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,’ says the Lord, ‘I will put my Laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts; and I will be to them God, and they shall be to me a people. And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord’: for all shall know me, from the least unto the greatest: for I will be merciful to their unrighteousness; and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.’”

Unique In that he says “a New Covenant”, he has made the first Old. Now that which is decaying and growing old, is ready to vanish away.

Comments: This second paragraph explains that the Old Covenant was replaced by the New Covenant, because the Jews did not continue in his Covenant with them.

The Covenant of Moses started with great promises and commands, which basically said, “Obey the Laws of Jehovah and you will inherit the Promised Land forever.”

But the Jews did not obey the Laws of Jehovah! In fact, they almost completely turned their back on the Law and on Jehovah Himself; which is why many of them did not recognize their Messiah when He came to them.

The quotes in this paragraph are from the Prophet Jeremiah 31:31-34, which was originally written ~587 B.C, more than 600 years before Christ atoned for our sins on the cross of Calvary.

The relationship of a believer under the Old Covenant was the same as a believer under the New Covenant: both believers know/knew the Lord as their Savior.

The Old Covenant believer trusted in Jehovah through the blood of the animal sacrifice that was shed on their behalf. They recognized that they deserved to die for the punishment of their sins, but they offered the animal in their place as a substitute to be punished with death, so that they might escape the Judgment of God for their sins.

The New Covenant believer trusts in the Lord Jesus Christ through the Blood that He shed on Calvary on their behalf. They recognize that they deserve to die for the punishment of their sins, but they believe the Gospel, which is that Jesus Christ came to Earth and died on the cross in their place as a substitute to be punished with death, so that they might escape the Judgment of God for their sins; and so they repent of their sins and ask Christ to come into their life and become their Savior from sin.

Unique In that he says “a New Covenant”, he has made the first Old. Now that which is decaying and growing old, is ready to vanish away.

The Apostle did not mean that the Old Covenant was still in effect at the time of his writing; he meant that the external trappings of the Old Covenant were still active, such as the priesthood of Aaron in the Temple of Herod in Jerusalem and animal sacrifices; even though no one could obtain forgiveness of sin through animal sacrifices any longer. In their rejection of Christ, most of the Jews continued to follow the Old Covenant until 70 A.D., when the Roman army of Titus destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple; thus, God made it impossible for the Jews to continue animal sacrifices according to the Law.

By the statement “[it] is ready to vanish away”, Paul simply meant that the judgment of God was near, and the Temple would be destroyed. If Hebrews was written between 55 and 60 A.D., then the destruction of the Temple would have been 10 or 15 years in the future.

The point here is the Old and New Covenants both belong to the Jews, not to the Gentiles.

Romans 9:3-4: “For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren: my kinsmen according to the flesh, who are Israelites: to whom pertains the adoption, and the [Shekinah] glory, and the Covenants, and the giving of the Law, and the service of God, and the Promises...”

After the Resurrection, Jesus commanded his disciples to take the Gospel of Christ to the entire world, so that the Gentiles could enter into the Kingdom of God by faith in Him:

Matthew 28:18-20: “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority was given to me in Heaven and upon earth. Therefore go, and train disciples out of all nations; baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And, lo, I am with you always, even until the end of the Age.” Amen.”

As a Gentile, we rejoice with the Jews in the forgiveness from sin and the peace of God that is provided when we repent and put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior from sin, which is the New Covenant that God made with the Jews!

God commanded that the blessing of the New Covenant (which belongs to the Jews) should be shared with all people on every continent, so that they might be saved and become part of his Kingdom; but we need to recognize that the Jews have a very privileged position before God as the recipient of both Covenants, as well as being the steward of God for the Bible itself. All of the Apostles were Jews!

We Gentiles are blessed by the Gospel of Christ and should be thankful that God wanted us to become part of his Kingdom along with the Jews, who are the apple of his eye:

Deuteronomy 32:8-10: “When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. For Jehovah’s portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of Quoteinheritance. He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.”

Romans 11:11-29: “I say then: Have they stumbled that they should fall permanently? Certainly not! But rather, through their fall, salvation has come to the Gentiles, in order to provoke them to jealousy....For I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brethren (lest perhaps you are wise in your own conceits), that blindness in part has happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles comes in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, “The Savior shall come out of Zion, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: for this is my Covenant to them, when I shall take away their sins.” As concerning the Gospel, they are enemies for your sakes; but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes: for the gifts and calling of God are without repentance [by him].”

Unfortunately, the Covenants do not protect an unbelieving Jew today from going to Hell when they die:

Romans 3:9-20: “What then? Are we Jews better than Gentiles? No, not at all: for we have already demonstrated both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under the curse of sin: as it is written, “No one is righteous; no, not even one. There is no one that understands; there is no one that seeks after God; they have all gone out of the Way; they have together become unprofitable. There are none that do good; no, not even one. Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips, whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and misery are in their ways; and they have not known the Way of peace. There is no fear of God before their eyes.” And we know that whatsoever things the Law says, it says to them who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be shut, and all the world may become guilty before God; therefore, by the works of the Law, no flesh shall be justified in his sight: for by the Law is the knowledge of sin.”

It is similar to a person who was baptized as a baby, or they are very religious; and therefore, they believe that they will go to Heaven because they are religious. This hope is in vain!

Religion cannot save you! External obedience to a system of religion (Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Roman Catholicism etc) cannot save a single person from going to Hell; and it never will!

Only the Lord Jesus Christ can save you, whether you are a Jew or a Gentile, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, atheist, or Roman Catholic! He came to Earth to shed his blood on the cross, so that you and I might have Eternal Life, if we repent of our sins and place our trust for Eternal life ONLY in Him. No religion of any kind or false god has any power to forgive your sins and make you a child of God forever. Only Jesus can do that!

Acts 4:12: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other Name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have Everlasting Life.”

John 14:6: “Jesus says to him, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man comes to the Father, except through me.”

Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who died for your sins on the cross almost 2,000 years ago and rose again from the dead, according to the Scriptures?

If so, then it is easy to be saved, if you are willing to admit that you are a sinner before God, and if you want to receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.

Here is a prayer that you can use to be saved:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against YOU. I am no good, and you are righteous! You are my only hope for salvation! I believe that you died on the cross for my sins, you were buried, and you rose again from the dead on the third day. I want you to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. Please come into my heart right now. Forgive me for all my sins, and save my soul. In the mighty Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen!”

Hoy, judíos y gentiles también miran atrás a Cristo; sin embargo, no para estar completos, ¡sino para ser salvados! Pero eso es el mensaje de la carta a los Romanos, no a los Hebreos. Debemos tener esto en mente mientras estudiamos Hebreos, o no entenderemos esto importante carta.

Primero, veamos el flujo de toda la carta para ayudarnos a entender el contexto:

El complemento Capítulo 1.4: Los santos del Antiguo Pacto miraron hacia adelante con fe hasta su Mesías bajo el Nuevo Pacto (10:32 - 11:40)

Único Obedeced la voluntad de Jehová Dios para convertirte en un judío completo en Jesucristo vuestra Mesías (12:1 -13:25)

En los dos capítulos anteriores, estudiamos cómo Dios el Hijo bajó del Cielo para completar la obra de salvación en la cruz para expiar nuestros pecados (1:1-4:13); y cómo Dios Hijo volvió al Cielo para ser nuestro gran Sumo Sacerdote según el orden de Melquisedec (4:14 - 7:28).

Estos dos temas se oponen (bajó a la Tierra, volvió al Cielo); ¡Bastante obvio!

En los Capítulos 1.3 y 1.4, los temas se complementan, como dos caras de la misma moneda (Mirad hacia atrás a la obra terminada de Cristo en la cruz, los santos del Antiguo Pacto miraron hacia adelante con fe hasta su Mesías bajo el Nuevo Pacto):

“Ahora de las cosas que hemos hablado, este es el punto principal”

Estas palabras al comienzo del Capítulo 1.3 proporcionan un punto de ruptura en la carta a los Hebreos. Los temas de los dos primeros capítulos se oponen, como acabo de explicar.

Los próximos tres capítulos son un grupo en sí mismos, como puede ver en el diseño de la Proporción Áurea de los capítulos anteriores. Hay una ruptura lógica entre los dos opuestos, y los dos complementos y uno único.

Los dos opuestos siempre brindan algún tipo de información de fondo a la historia en el grupo principal de dos complementos y uno único. O, si se invierte la dirección, entonces la información en los dos opuestos es algún tipo de información adicional que no está directamente relacionado con la historia en los dos complementos y uno único.

Entonces, de esta manera, el contenido del texto, así como los temas, apoyan el diseño de la Biblia de la proporción áurea.

Único Obedeced la voluntad de Jehová Dios para convertirte en un judío completo en Jesucristo vuestra Mesías (12:1 -13:25)

Y finalmente, en el Capítulo 1.5, Pablo instó a los judíos del Antiguo Pacto a obedecer la voluntad de su Padre de abrazar a Cristo como su Mesías, o enfrentar su ira; por lo que es único en comparación con los Capítulos 1.3 y 1.4. Entonces, debería poder discernir fácilmente el diseño de la Proporción Áurea de estos Capítulos en Hebreos: dos opuestos, dos complementos y uno único.

Ahora, veamos el flujo del Capítulo 1.3 para ayudarnos a entender el contexto:

¶Único La ceremonia del Día de la Expiación del sacerdote de Aarón fue temporal, imperfecta y se repetía todos los años (9:1 - 10)

¶El complemento El Nuevo Pacto fue dedicado por Cristo una vez con su propia sangre (9:11 - 17)

¶El complemento El Antiguo Pacto fue dedicado por Moisés una vez con la sangre de terneros y cabras (9:18 - 22)

Comentarios: En la Introducción (que complementa el Cuerpo), Pablo explica por qué el Antiguo Pacto fue anulado y reemplazado por el Nuevo Pacto.

En el Cuerpo (que complementa la Introducción), Pablo examina la gran fiesta de los judíos, el Día de la Expiación, a la luz de la Obra Terminada de Cristo.

En la Conclusión (que es única), Pablo nuevamente instó a los judíos del Antiguo Pacto a abrazar al Señor Jesucristo como su Mesías o enfrentar las consecuencias, que fueron severas.

Espero que pueda ver cómo el diseño de la Biblia en proporción áurea proporciona una perspectiva de las Escrituras que ningún otro arreglo puede igualar. ¡Este NO es mi arreglo! Se basa en el contenido real de las Escrituras, lo que significa que el diseño de la Biblia en proporción áurea se originó con Dios, y no con el hombre.

Ahora, veamos la Sección de Introducción en detalle: tiene dos párrafos con temas opuestos:

¶El complemento Jesús es el Sumo Sacerdote del verdadero Tabernáculo en el Cielo con la responsabilidad de ofrecer algo a Dios el Padre (8:1 - 5)

¶El complemento El Antiguo Pacto fue reemplazado por el Nuevo Pacto, porque los judíos no continuaron en ello (8:6 - 13)

El diseño interno de la Proporción Áurea de los subpárrafos también se oponen entre sí: uno único, dos complementos, dos opuestos en el párrafo 1; y lo contrario en el apartado 2. Éste es el diseño estándar para la introducción en casi todos los capítulos en la Biblia.

Único Ahora de las cosas que hemos hablado, este es el punto principal: tenemos tal sumo sacerdote el cual está sentado a la diestra del trono de la Majestad en los cielos; un ministro del Santuario, y del verdadero Tabernáculo que el Señor levantó, y no el hombre.

El complemento Porque todo sumo sacerdote es constituido para presentar ofrendas y sacrificios;

El complemento por lo tanto es necesario que también éste hombre tuviese algo que ofrecer.

Lo opuesto Porque si él estuviera en la tierra, no sería sacerdote, viendo que hay sacerdotes levitas que ofrecen dones conformes a la Ley; quien sirven según el ejemplo y la sombra de las cosas celestiales;

Lo opuesto como Moisés fue advertido por Dios cuando estaba a punto de hacer el Tabernáculo, “Mira,” dice, “que tú haces todas las cosas conforme al modelo que te ha sido mostrado en el monte.”

Único Ahora de las cosas que hemos hablado, este es el punto principal: tenemos tal sumo sacerdote el cual está sentado a la diestra del trono de la Majestad en los cielos; ministro del Santuario, y del verdadero Tabernáculo que el Señor levantó, y no el hombre.

Comentarios: Como dije anteriormente, ahora hemos llegado en la carta a los Hebreos al punto principal, que Pablo procede a explicar en el resto de la carta.

Los dos primeros capítulos explican los orígenes de Cristo (Él es Dios que vino a la Tierra para expiar nuestros pecados en la cruz); y que Él volvió al Cielo como Sumo Sacerdote permanente según Melquisedec por los siglos de los siglos.

Ahora que Pablo ha establecido que Cristo es el nuevo Sumo Sacerdote, procede a explicar cómo la ofrenda que Jesús hizo en la cruz para expiar nuestros pecados es el cumplimiento de la ofrenda de los animales que los sacerdotes sumos de Aarón realizaban una vez al año en el Día de la Expiación (o Yom Kippur).

Este párrafo reafirma los dos primeros capítulos en un breve resumen con algunos fragmentos de información nueva.

“Un ministro del Santuario, y del verdadero Tabernáculo que el Señor levantó, y no el hombre.”

Éste es un punto muy importante, que muchos creyentes no entienden: ¡El Templo en Jerusalén que fue construido por Salomón y reconstruido por Herodes era UNA COPIA del verdadero Tabernáculo en el Cielo! Aarón el sacerdote sumo era un TIPO imperfecto del Cristo que vino a reemplazar su ministerio con su propio sumo sacerdocio según Melquisedec; y este ministerio se llevaría a cabo en el mismo Cielo, en el verdadero Tabernáculo de Dios en el Cielo.

Jesucristo mismo es un Tabernáculo de Dios en carne humana (ahora resucitado):

Juan 1:14: “Y el Verbo se hizo carne, y habitó entre nosotros; y vimos su gloria: la gloria como del Unigénito del Padre, lleno de gracia y de verdad.”

Pero eso no cambia el hecho que hay un verdadero Tabernáculo en el Cielo, donde mora Dios Padre. Cristo vino a este Tabernáculo del Cielo después de su Resurrección y ofreció su Sangre ante Dios Padre por los pecados del mundo; y su Sangre permanecerá allí delante de Dios para siempre.

El complemento por lo tanto es necesario que también éste hombre tuviese algo que ofrecer.

La ofrenda que hizo Jesús fue la Obra Terminada de Cristo en la cruz, que Pablo analiza en detalle en la Sección del Cuerpo, que cubriremos en el próximo estudio.

¶Lo opuesto El Antiguo Pacto fue reemplazado por el Nuevo Pacto, porque los judíos no continuaron en ello (8:6 - 13)

Lo opuesto Pero ahora, él ha obtenido un ministerio más excelente, siendo que él también el Mediador de un mejor Pacto, que se estableció sobre mejores promesas:

Lo opuesto porque si aquel primer Pacto hubiera sido sin defecto, entonces no se hubiera buscado lugar para el segundo.

El complemento Porque encontrando falla con ellos, dice, “‘He aquí, vienen los días,’ dice [Jehová], ‘cuando haré un Nuevo Pacto con la casa de Israel y con la casa de Judá; pero no según el pacto que hice con sus padres en el día cuando los tomé por la mano para sacarlos fuera de la tierra de Egipto: porque ellos no continuaron en mi Pacto, y yo los ignoré,’ dice [Jehová].

El complemento ‘Porque éste es el Pacto que haré con la casa de Israel después de aquellos días,’ dice [Jehová], ‘Pondré mis Leyes en sus mentes, y las escribiré sobre sus corazones; y seré Dios a ellos, y ellos serán para mí un pueblo. Y ninguno enseñará a su prójimo, ni ninguno a su hermano, diciendo, ‘Conoce [Jehová]’: porque todos me conocerán, desde el menor hasta el mayor: porque seré misericordioso a su injusticia; y sus pecados y sus iniquidades no me acordaré más.’”

Único En eso él dice, “Nuevo Pacto”, ha hecho el primer Viejo. Ahora lo que está en descomposición y se envejece, está listo para desaparecer.

Comentarios: Este segundo párrafo explica que el Antiguo Pacto fue reemplazado por el Nuevo Pacto, porque los judíos no continuaron en el Pacto de Jehová con ellos.

El Pacto de Moisés comenzó con grandes promesas y mandamientos, que básicamente decían, “Obedeced las Leyes de Jehová y heredaréis la Tierra Prometida para siempre.”

¡Pero los judíos no obedecieron las Leyes de Jehová! De hecho, casi le dieron la espalda por completo a la Ley y a Jehová mismo; por eso muchos de ellos no reconocieron a su Mesías cuando vino a ellos.

Las citas en este párrafo son del profeta Jeremías 31:31-34, que fue escrito originalmente alrededor del 587 a.C., más de 600 años antes de que Cristo expiara nuestros pecados en la cruz del Calvario.

La relación de un creyente bajo el Antiguo Pacto era la misma que la de un creyente bajo el Nuevo Pacto: ambos creyentes conocían al Señor como su Salvador.

El creyente del Antiguo Pacto confiaba en Jehová a través de la sangre del sacrificio animal que se derramaba en nombre de ellos. Reconocieron que merecían morir por el castigo de sus pecados, pero ofrecieron el animal en su lugar como sustituto para ser castigados con la muerte, para que escaparan del Juicio de Dios por sus pecados.

El creyente del Nuevo Pacto confía en el Señor Jesucristo a través de la Sangre que Él derramó en el Calvario en nombre de ellos. Reconocen que merecen morir por el castigo de sus pecados, pero creen al Evangelio, que es que Jesucristo vino a la Tierra y murió en la cruz en su lugar como sustituto para ser castigado con la muerte, para que pudieran escapar del Juicio de Dios por sus pecados; y así se arrepienten de sus pecados y le piden a Cristo que entre en su vida y se convierta en su Salvador del pecado.

Único En eso él dice, “Nuevo Pacto”, ha hecho el primer Viejo. Ahora lo que está en descomposición y se envejece, está listo para desaparecer.

El Apóstol no quiso decir que el Antiguo Pacto todavía estaba en vigor en el momento de su escritura; quiso decir que los adornos externos del Antiguo Pacto todavía estaban activos, como el sacerdocio de Aarón en el Templo de Herodes en Jerusalén y los sacrificios de animales; aunque ya nadie podía obtener el perdón de los pecados a través de los sacrificios de animales. En su rechazo a Cristo, la mayoría de los judíos continuaron siguiendo el Antiguo Pacto hasta el año 70 d.C., cuando el ejército romano de

Tito destruyó Jerusalén y el Templo; por lo tanto, Dios hizo imposible que los judíos continuaran con los sacrificios de animales de acuerdo con la Ley.

Con la declaración “[está] listo para desaparecer”, Pablo simplemente quiso decir que el juicio de Dios estaba cerca, y el Templo sería destruido. Si Hebreos fue escrito entre el 55 y el 60 d.C., entonces la destrucción del Templo habría sido 10 o 15 años en el futuro.

El punto aquí es que tanto el Antiguo como el Nuevo Pacto pertenecen a los judíos, no a los gentiles.

Romanos 9:3-4: “porque podría desear que yo mismo fui maldecido desde Cristo por mis hermanos: mis parientes según la carne, que son israelitas: a quien pertenece la adopción, y la gloria [shekiná], y los Pactos, y el dar de la Ley, y el servicio [de Dios] y las promesas...”

Después de la Resurrección, Jesús mandó a sus discípulos a llevar el Evangelio de Cristo a todo el mundo, para que los gentiles pudieran entrar en el Reino de Dios a través de la fe en Él:

Mateo 28:18-20: “Y Jesús vino y les habló, diciendo, “Toda autoridad me ha sido dado en el Cielo y sobre la tierra. Por tanto, id, y haced discípulos de todas las naciones, bautizándoles en el Nombre del Padre, y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo; enseñándoles observar todas las cosas que os he mandado. Y, he aquí, yo estoy con ustedes todos los días, hasta el fin de la Edad.” Amén.”

Como gentiles, nos regocijamos con los judíos en el perdón de los pecados y la paz de Dios que se provee cuando nos arrepentimos y ponemos nuestra fe y confianza en Jesucristo como nuestro Salvador del pecado, que es el Nuevo Pacto que Dios hizo con los ¡Judíos!

Dios mandó que la bendición del Nuevo Pacto (que pertenece a los judíos) sea compartida con todos los pueblos de todos los continentes, para que se salven y formen parte de su Reino; pero debemos reconocer que los judíos tienen una posición muy privilegiada ante Dios como destinatarios de ambos Pactos, además de ser el mayordomo de Dios para la Biblia misma. ¡Todos los Apóstoles eran judíos!

Los gentiles somos bendecidos por el Evangelio de Cristo y debemos estar agradecidos de que Dios quisiera que formáramos parte de su Reino junto con los judíos, que son la niña de sus ojos:

Deuteronomio 32:8-10: “Cuando el Altísimo dio a las naciones su herencia, cuando hizo dividir los hijos de los hombres, estableció los términos de los pueblos según el número de los hijos de Israel: porque la porción de Jehová es su pueblo; Jacob la suerte de su heredad. Lo halló en tierra desierta, en desierto horrible y yermo; lo condujo alrededor, lo instruyó, lo guardó como la niña de su ojo.”

Romanos 11:11-29: “Digo, pues: ¿Han tropezado que deberían caer permanentemente? ¡Ciertamente no! Pero más bien, a través de su caída, la salvación ha llegado a los gentiles, con el fin de provocarlos a los celos....Porque no quiero a ustedes ser ignorante de este misterio, hermanos (no sea que ustedes son sabios en sus propias vanidades), que la ceguera en parte ha acontecido a Israel, hasta que la plenitud de los gentiles viene en. Y así todo Israel serán salvados; como está escrito, “El Salvador saldrá de Sión y apartará la impiedad de Jacob: porque éste es mi Pacto con ellos, cuando quitaré sus pecados.” En cuanto al Evangelio, ellos son enemigos por vuestros bien; pero en cuanto a la elección, son muy amados por el bien de los padres: porque los dones y el llamado de Dios son sin arrepentimiento [por parte de él].”

Desafortunadamente, los Pactos no protegen a un judío incrédulo hoy desde ir al Infierno cuando muera:

Romanos 3:9-20: “¿Qué, pues? ¿Somos nosotros los judíos mejores que los gentiles? No, no en absoluto: porque ya hemos demostrado que tanto judíos como a gentiles, que todos ellos están bajo la maldición del pecado: como está escrito, “Nadie es justo; no, ni siquiera uno. No hay quien entienda; no hay quien busque después de Dios. Todos se han desviado del Camino; juntos se han vuelto no rentables. No hay quien haga el bien; no, ni siquiera uno. La garganta de ellos es una tumba abierta; con su lengua ellos han usado engaño; el veneno de las áspides está debajo de sus labios, cuya boca está llena de maldiciones y amarguras; los pies de ellos son veloces para derramar sangre. Destrucción y miseria están en sus caminos; y no han conocido el Camino de la paz. No hay temor de Dios delante de sus ojos.” Y sabemos que cualquier cosa que dice la Ley, ello les dice a los que son bajos la Ley, para que cada boca puede estar cerrada, y todo el mundo puede llegar a ser culpable ante Dios; por tanto, por las obras de la Ley ninguna carne será justificada en su vista: porque por la Ley es el conocimiento del pecado.”

Es similar a una persona que fue bautizada de bebé, o son muy religiosos; y por lo tanto, creen que irán al Cielo porque son religiosos. ¡Esta esperanza es en vano!

¡La religión no puede salvarte! La obediencia externa a un sistema de religión (hinduismo, islamismo, cristianismo, catolicismo romano, etc.) no puede salvar a una sola persona de ir al infierno; ¡y nunca lo hará!

¡Solo el Señor Jesucristo puede salvarte, seas judío o gentil, Musulmán, hindú, budista, ateo o católico romano! Él vino a la Tierra para derramar su sangre en la cruz, para que tú y yo tengamos Vida Eterna, si nos arrepentimos de nuestros pecados y ponemos nuestra confianza para la vida Eterna SOLA en Él. Ninguna religión de ningún tipo o dios falso tiene poder alguno para perdonar tus pecados y hacerte un hijo de Dios para siempre. ¡Solo Jesús puede hacer eso!

Hechos 4:12: “Tampoco hay salvación en ningún otro: porque no hay otro Nombre bajo del Cielo, dado entre los hombres, por cual debemos ser salvados.”

Juan 3:16: “porque Dios amó tanto al mundo, que él dio a su Hijo unigénito, que cualquiera que cree en él no deberían perecer, sino tener Vida Eterna.”

Juan 14:6: “Jesús le dijo, “Soy el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida; nadie viene al Padre, sino por mí.”

¿Crees que Jesucristo es el Hijo de Dios, que murió por tus pecados en la cruz hace casi 2000 años y resucitó de entre los muertos, según las Escrituras?

Si es así, entonces es fácil ser salvado, si está dispuesto a admitir que es un pecador ante Dios, y si desea recibir a Jesucristo como su Salvador personal.

Aquí hay una oración que puedes usar para ser salvado:

“Señor Jesús, sé que he pecado contra TI. ¡No soy bueno y tú eres justo! Creo que moriste en la cruz por mis pecados, fuiste enterrado y resucitaste de entre los muertos al tercer día. Quiero que vengas a mi vida y seas mi Señor y Salvador. Por favor entra en mi corazón ahora mismo. Perdóname por todos mis pecados y salva mi alma. En el poderoso Nombre de Jesús, oro, ¡Amén!”
