Spiritual Warfare, Chapter 1.5 (2 Thessalonians): The Day of Christ will bring destruction upon unbelievers and rebels (1:1 - 5:28)

Introduction: God will punish the persecutors of the Thessalonian believers for their evil deeds (1:1 - 10)

¶Opposite   Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, to the Assembly of the Thessalonians with grace and peace from God (1:1 - 2)

¶Opposite   God will repay tribulation to those that trouble you at the Second Coming of Christ to judge the world (1:3 - 10)

Body: After the Holy Spirit is removed from the Earth with the Rapture, then the Wicked one will be revealed (1:11 - 3:5)

^1:10when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe in that day (because our testimony among you was believed).

^2:5Do you not remember, that, when I was still with you, I told you these things?

^2:6And now you know what withholds that he might be revealed in his time: ^2:7for the mystery of iniquity is already working; only he who now is restraining will continue to restrain, until he is taken out of the way.

^2:8And then shall that Wicked one be revealed (whom the Lord shall consume with the Spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming),

^2:10and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they did not receive the love of the Truth, that they might be saved.

^2:11And for this reason God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe the Lie,

^2:12that they all might be damned who believed not the Truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

^2:13But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the Truth;

^2:14unto which he called you by our Gospel,

to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

^2:15Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the doctrines which you have been taught, whether by word, or our letter.

^2:16Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, who has loved us, and given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, ^2:17comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work.

^3:1Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you; ^3:2and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men:

^3:4And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that you both do and will do the things that we command you.

^3:5And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

^3:11For we hear that there are some who walk among you disorderly, not working at all, but are busybodies.

^3:12Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

^3:13But you, brethren, be not weary in doing good;

^3:14and if any man does not obey our word by this letter, note that man; and do not associate with him, that he may be ashamed. ^3:15Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

^2:6Y ahora sabéis lo que está refrenando, para que él se manifieste en su tiempo: ^2:7porque el misterio de la iniquidad ya está obrando; solamente el que ahora refrena, seguirá para refrenar, hasta que él sea quitado del camino.

^2:8Y entonces ese Maligno será revelado (a quien el Señor consumirá con el Espíritu de su boca, y destruirá con el resplandor de su venida),

^2:9cuya venida es por obra de Satanás, con gran poder y señales y prodigios mentirosos;

^2:10y con todo engaño de la injusticia en los que perecen, porque no recibieron el amor de la Verdad, para que ellos pudieran ser salvados.

^2:11Y por esta razón, Dios enviará un engaño fuerte a ellos, que ellos deberían creer la Mentira,

^2:12para que ellos todos pudieran ser condenados, que no creyeron a la Verdad, sino que se complacieron en la injusticia.

¶Lo opuesto   El apóstol Pablo agradeció a Dios por los creyentes de Tesalónica, porque creyeron el Evangelio que él predicó (2:13 - 17)

^2:13Pero nosotros debemos siempre dar gracias a Dios por ustedes, hermanos amados del Señor, de que Dios os haya escogido desde el principio para salvación, por la santificación del Espíritu y la fe en la verdad;

^3:9No porque no tuviésemos potestad, sino por daros en nosotros un ejemplo a seguir: ^3:10porque aun cuando estábamos con ustedes, os mandábamos esto: si alguno no quiere trabajar, tampoco coma:

^3:11porque oímos que hay algunos de entre ustedes que andan desordenadamente, no trabajando en nada, sino ocupados en curiosear.

^3:12Y a los tales requerimos y exhortamos por nuestro Señor Jesús Cristo, que trabajando calladamente, coman su propio pan.

¶El complemento    El Señor os dé paz y esté con todos ustedes (3:13 - 18)

^3:13Y ustedes, hermanos, no os canséis de hacer bien;
