^2:17Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the Prophet, saying, ^2:18“A voice in Ramah was heard: lamentation, weeping, and great mourning; Rachel weeping for her children. And she would not be comforted, because they are not.”

^3:10And now also the axe is placed at the root of the trees; therefore every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is cut down; and cast into the fire.

^3:11I indeed baptize you in water as a sign of your repentance. But he that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit, or in Hell Fire! ^3:12Whose fan is in his hand; and he will thoroughly purge his floor; and he will gather his wheat into the barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable Hell Fire!!”

^4:1Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil. ^4:2And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward he was hungry. ^4:3And when the tempter came to him, he said, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.” ^4:4But he answered, and said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone; but by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”

^4:1Entonces Jesús fue conducido por el Espíritu al desierto, para ser tentado por el diablo. ^4:2Y cuando hubo ayunado cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, después de este, tuvo hambre. ^4:3Y cuando el tentador vino a él, dijo, “habla que estas piedras pueden convertirse en pan”. ^4:4Pero él respondió, y dijo, “Está escrito, ‘El hombre no vivirá solo de pan; pero por cada Palabra que sale fuera de la boca de Dios’”.

^4:5Entonces el diablo le lleva a la santa ciudad, y le puso sobre el pináculo del Templo, ^4:6y le dice, “Si eres el Hijo de Dios, échate abajo: porque está escrito, ‘Él ordenará a sus ángeles concerniente a ti...; y te levantarán en sus manos; para que, en cualquier momento, no debes golpear tu pie contra una piedra’”. ^4:7Jesús le dijo, “Está escrito también, ‘No tentarás [Jehová] tu Dios’”.

^4:8Otra vez, el diablo le lleva en una montaña extremadamente alta, y le muestra todos los reinos del mundo, y la gloria de ellos, ^4:9y le dice, “Todas estas cosas te daré, si se postrarás a tú mismo, y me adorarás”. ^4:10Entonces Jesús le dice, “¡Vete, Satanás! Porque está escrito, ‘Adorarás [Jehová] tu Dios, y él sólo servirás’”. ^4:11Entonces el diablo le deja; y, he aquí, los ángeles vinieron; y ellos le ministraron.
