^27:3Then Judas, who had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, changed his mind, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, ^27:4saying, “I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood.” And they said, “What is that to us? See to your own problem.”

^27:5And he cast down the pieces of silver in the Temple; and he departed, and went and hung himself.

^27:6And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.” ^27:7And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in. ^27:8Therefore that field was called, “The field of blood,” until this day.

^27:9Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the Prophet, saying, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel valued; ^27:10and they gave them for the potter’s field, as [Jehovah] appointed me.”

^27:11And Jesus stood before the governor.

And the governor asked him, saying, “Are you the King of the Jews?” And Jesus said to him, “It is as you say.”

^27:13Then Pilate said to him, “Do you not hear how many things they witness against you?”

^27:14And he never answered him a word; therefore the governor marveled greatly.

^27:20But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus. ^27:21The governor answered and said to them, “Which of the two will you that I release to you?” They said, “Barabbas!” ^27:22Pilate says to them, “What shall I do then with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all say to him, “Let him be crucified!” ^27:23And the governor said, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they cried out even more, saying, “Let him be crucified!!”

^27:24When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this just person; see to your own problem.”

^27:25Then all the people answered and said, “His blood be on us, and on our children!”

^27:26Then he released Barabbas to them.

And when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

^27:27Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered to him the whole band of soldiers. ^27:28And they stripped him, and put a scarlet robe on him. ^27:29And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” ^27:30And they spat upon him, and took the reed, and struck him on the head.

^27:31And after they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him; and they put his own clothing on him, and led him away to crucify him.

^27:32And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name; him they compelled to bear his cross.

^27:33And when they came to a place called Golgotha (which means “A place of a skull”), ^27:34they gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall; and when he had tasted it, he would not drink.

^27:35And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Prophet: “They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.”

^27:36And sitting down they watched him there, ^27:37and set up over his head his accusation written: “THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

^27:38Then two thieves were crucified with him: one on the right hand, and another on the left.

^27:39And they that passed by reviled him; shaking their heads, ^27:40and saying, “The one destroying the Temple, and building it in three days, save yourself. If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross!” ^27:41Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, ^27:42“He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he is the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. ^27:43He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” ^27:44The thieves also, who were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.

^27:45Now from the sixth hour, there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.

^27:46And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” (Which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”) ^27:47Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, “This man calls for Elijah.” ^27:48And immediately one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink. ^27:49The rest said, “Let be; let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.”

^27:50Then Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the spirit. ^27:51And, behold, the veil of the Temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks split. ^27:52And the tombs were opened; and many bodies of the saints who slept arose; ^27:53and they came out of the tombs after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared to many.

^27:54Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!”

^27:55And many women were there beholding far away, who followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him; ^27:56among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee’s children.

^27:57When the evening came, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple; ^27:58he went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered; ^27:59and when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, ^27:60and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut out in the rock; and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb; and he departed.

^27:61And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting over against the tomb.

^27:62Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together to Pilate, ^27:63saying, “Sir, we remember what that deceiver said, while he was still alive, ‘After three days I will rise again.’ ^27:64Command therefore that the tomb be made safe until the third day; lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead.’ So the last error shall be worse than the first.”

^27:65Pilate said to them, “You have a guard. Go your way; make it as secure as you can.”

^27:66So they went, and made the tomb secure: sealing the stone, and setting a guard.

§Unique    Conclusion: Jesus Christ rose from the dead and gave the Great Commission to his disciples (28:1 - 20)

^28:1In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. ^28:2And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from Heaven; and he came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. ^28:3His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing was white as snow; ^28:4and for fear of him the guards shook, and became as dead men. ^28:5And the angel answered and said to the women, “Fear not: for I know that you seek Jesus, who was crucified. ^28:6He is not here: for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. ^28:7And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead. And, behold, he goes before you into Galilee; there shall you see him. Lo, I have told you.”

^28:8And they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy; and they ran to bring his disciples word. ^28:9And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “All hail!” And they came and held him by the feet; and they worshipped him. ^28:10Then Jesus said to them, “Be not afraid. Go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.”

^28:11Now when they were going, behold, some of the guard came into the city, and showed the chief priests all the things that were done.

^28:12And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave much money to the soldiers, ^28:13saying, “Say, ‘His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.’ ^28:14And if this comes to the governor’s ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.”

^28:15So they took the money, and did as they were taught; and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

^28:11Ahora cuando iban, he aquí, algunos de los guardias, habiendo entrado en la ciudad, mostraron a los sumos sacerdotes todas las cosas que se hicieron.

^28:12Y después de se habían reunido con los ancianos, y habían consultado juntos, dieron mucho dinero a los soldados, ^28:13diciendo, “Decid, ‘Sus discípulos vinieron por noche, y le hurtaron lejos, mientras dormíamos’. ^28:14Y si esto llegare a oídos del gobernador, nosotros le persuadiremos, y os haremos seguros”.

^28:15Así que tomaron el dinero, e hicieron como se les enseñaba; y este refrán se divulga comúnmente entre los judíos hasta este día.

¶El complemento   Jesús ordenó a sus discípulos que difundieran el verdadero Evangelio de Cristo a todas las naciones (28:16 - 20)

^28:16Entonces los discípulos se fueron a Galilea, a un monte donde Jesús les había ordenado.

^28:17Y cuando le vieron, le adoraron; pero unos dudaban.

^28:18Y Jesús vino y les habló, diciendo, “Toda autoridad me ha sido dado en el Cielo y sobre la tierra.

^28:19“Por tanto, id, y haced discípulos de todas las naciones, bautizándoles en el Nombre del Padre, y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo; ^28:20enseñándoles observar todas las cosas que os he mandado.

“Y, he aquí, yo estoy con ustedes todos los días, hasta el fin de la Edad”. Amén.
