^29:3In the first year of his reign, in the first month, he opened the doors of the House of Jehovah, and repaired them. ^29:4And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street; ^29:5and he said to them, “Hear me, you Levites, sanctify yourselves now, and sanctify the House of Jehovah God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place: ^29:6for our fathers have trespassed, and done evil in the eyes of Jehovah our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned their faces away from the habitation of Jehovah, and turned their backs. ^29:7They have also shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place to the God of Israel. ^29:8Therefore the wrath of Jehovah was upon Judah and Jerusalem; and he has delivered them to trouble, to astonishment, and to mockery, as you see with your eyes: ^29:9for, see, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.

^29:10Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with Jehovah God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us. ^29:11My sons, do not be negligent now: for Jehovah has chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that you should minister to him, and burn incense.”

^29:12Then the Levites arose: Mahath the son of Amasai and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites; and of the sons of Merari: Kish the son of Abdi and Azariah the son of Jehalelel; and of the Gershonites: Joah the son of Zimmah and Eden the son of Joah; ^29:13and of the sons of Elizaphan: Shimri and Jeiel; and of the sons of Asaph: Zechariah and Mattaniah; ^29:14and of the sons of Heman: Jehiel and Shimei; and of the sons of Jeduthun: Shemaiah and Uzziel. ^29:15And they gathered their brethren, sanctified themselves, and came, according to the command of the king, by the words of Jehovah, to cleanse the House of Jehovah. ^29:16And the priests went into the inner part of the House of Jehovah, to cleanse it; and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the Temple of Jehovah into the court of the House of Jehovah. And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron. ^29:17Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify; and on the eighth day of the month they came to the porch of Jehovah, so they sanctified the House of Jehovah in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they finished.

^29:18Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, “We have cleansed all the House of Jehovah, and the altar of burnt offering, with all its vessels, and the showbread table, with all its vessels. ^29:19Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified; and, behold, they are before the altar of Jehovah.”

^29:20Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the House of Jehovah. ^29:21And they brought seven young bulls, seven rams, seven lambs, and seven he goats: for a sin offering for the kingdom, for the Sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of Jehovah. ^29:22So they killed the young bulls, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar; likewise, when they had killed the rams, they sprinkled the blood upon the altar; they also killed the lambs, and they sprinkled the blood upon the altar. ^29:23And they brought forth the he goats for the sin offering before the king and the congregation; and they laid their hands upon them; ^29:24and the priests killed them, and they made reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel. ^29:25And he set the Levites in the House of Jehovah with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the command of David, and of Gad the king’s Seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the Commandment of Jehovah by his prophets. ^29:26And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets. ^29:27And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of Jehovah began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel. ^29:28And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded; and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.

^29:29And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped. ^29:30Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise to Jehovah with the words of David, and of Asaph the Seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.

^29:31Then Hezekiah answered and said, “Now that you have consecrated yourselves to Jehovah, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the House of Jehovah.” And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings. ^29:32And the number of the burnt offerings, which the congregation brought, was seventy young bulls, one hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to Jehovah. ^29:33And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.

^29:34But the priests were too few, so that they could not skin all the burnt offerings; therefore their brethren the Levites helped them, until the work was ended, and until the other priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests. ^29:35And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the House of Jehovah was set in order.

^29:36And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people: for the thing was done suddenly.

^30:4And the thing pleased the king and all the congregation. ^30:5So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beer-sheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the Passover to Jehovah God of Israel, at Jerusalem: for they had not done it of a long time in such sort as it was written.

^30:6So the runners went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the command of the king, saying, “You children of Israel, turn again to Jehovah, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel; and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria. ^30:7And be not like your fathers and your brethren, who trespassed against Jehovah God of their fathers, who therefore gave them up to desolation, as you see. ^30:8Now be not stiff-necked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to Jehovah, and enter into his Sanctuary, which he has sanctified forever; and serve Jehovah your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you: ^30:9for if you return to Jehovah, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that led them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for Jehovah your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him.”

^30:10So the runners passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh even to Zebulun. But they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them.

^30:11Nevertheless many of Asher and Manasseh and of Zebulun humbled themselves, and came to Jerusalem. ^30:12Also in Judah the hand of God was to give them one heart to do the command of the king and of the princes, by the Word of Jehovah. ^30:13And many people assembled at Jerusalem to keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread in the second month, a very great congregation. ^30:14And they arose and took away the pagan altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the pagan altars for incense they took away, and cast them into the brook Kidron.

^30:15Then they killed the Passover sacrifice on the fourteenth day of the second month; and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought in the burnt offerings into the House of Jehovah. ^30:16And they stood in their place after their manner, according to the Law of Moses the man of God; the priests sprinkled the blood, which they received of the hand of the Levites. ^30:17For there were many in the congregation that were not sanctified; therefore the Levites had the charge of the killing of the Passovers for everyone that was not clean, to sanctify them to Jehovah: ^30:18for a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover otherwise than it was written in the Law. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, “The good Jehovah pardon every one ^30:19that prepares his heart to seek God, Jehovah God of his fathers, though he has not been cleansed according to the purification of the Sanctuary.” ^30:20And Jehovah gave heed to Hezekiah, and healed the people.

^30:21And the children of Israel that were present at Jerusalem kept the Feast of Unleavened Bread seven days with great gladness; and the Levites and the priests praised Jehovah day by day, singing with loud instruments to Jehovah. ^30:22And Hezekiah spoke to the heart of all the Levites that taught the good knowledge of Jehovah; and they ate throughout the feast seven days, offering peace offerings, and making confession to Jehovah God of their fathers.

^30:23And the whole assembly took counsel to keep another seven days; and so they kept another seven days with gladness: ^30:24for Hezekiah king of Judah gave to the congregation a thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the congregation a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep; and a great number of priests sanctified themselves. ^30:25And all the congregation of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the congregation that came out of Israel, and the strangers that came out of the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Judah, rejoiced. ^30:26So there was great joy in Jerusalem: for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem. ^30:27Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people; and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy dwelling place, even to Heaven.

^31:1Now when all this was finished, all of Israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah, and broke the images in pieces, and cut down the images of Asherah, and threw down the high places and the pagan altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and Manasseh, until they had utterly destroyed them all.

Then all the children of Israel returned every man to his possession, into their own cities.

^31:2And Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and the Levites after their divisions, every man according to his service, the priests and Levites for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the tents of Jehovah. ^31:3He appointed also the king’s portion of his substance for the burnt offerings, namely, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the Sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in the Law of Jehovah.

^31:4Moreover he commanded the people that dwelt in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the Law of Jehovah. ^31:5And as soon as the command came abroad, the children of Israel brought in abundance the firstfruits of grain, wine, oil, honey, and of all the increase of the field; and they brought in abundantly the tithe of all things.

^31:6And concerning the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelt in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of holy things which were consecrated to Jehovah their God, and laid them by heaps. ^31:7In the third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month. ^31:8And when Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed Jehovah, and his people Israel.

^31:9Then Hezekiah questioned with the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps. ^31:10And Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and said, “Since the people began to bring the offerings into the House of Jehovah, we have had enough to eat, and have left plenty: for Jehovah has blessed his people; and that which is left is this great abundance.” ^31:11Then Hezekiah commanded to prepare storerooms in the House of Jehovah. And they prepared them, ^31:12and brought in the offerings and the tithes and the dedicated things faithfully; over which Cononiah the Levite was ruler, and Shimei his brother was the next. ^31:13And Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath, and Benaiah, were overseers under the hand of Cononiah and Shimei his brother, at the command of Hezekiah the king, and Azariah the ruler of the House of God. ^31:14And Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, the gatekeeper toward the east, was over the freewill offerings of God, to distribute the oblations of Jehovah, and the most holy things. ^31:15And next to him were Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the cities of the priests, in their set office, to give to their brethren by divisions, as well to the great as to the small: ^31:16beside their genealogy of males, from three years old and upward, even to everyone that enters into the House of Jehovah, his daily portion for their service in their charges according to their divisions, ^31:17both to the genealogy of the priests by the house of their fathers, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their charges by their divisions; ^31:18and to the genealogy of all their little ones, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, through all the congregation: for in their set office they sanctified themselves in holiness; ^31:19also of the sons of Aaron the priests, which were in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every city, the men that were expressed by name, to give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all that were reckoned by genealogies among the Levites.

^31:20And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah, and did good and right and truth before Jehovah his God. ^31:21And in every work that he began in the service of the House of God, and in the Law, and in the Commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

^32:1After these things, and the establishment of it, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and camped against the fortified cities, and thought to win them for himself.

^32:2And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem, ^32:3he took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the water of the fountains which were outside the city; and they helped him.

^32:4So many people were gathered together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land; saying, “Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?”

^32:5Also he strengthened himself; and he built up all the wall that was broken, and raised it up to the towers; and another wall outside; and repaired Millo in the city of David; and made weapons and shields in abundance.

^32:6And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spoke to their heart, saying, ^32:7“Be strong and courageous; be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there are more with us than with him. ^32:8With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is Jehovah our God to help us, and to fight our battles.” And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

^32:9After this Sennacherib king of Assyria sent his servants to Jerusalem (but he himself laid siege against Lachish, and all his power with him), to Hezekiah king of Judah, and to all Judah that were at Jerusalem, saying, ^32:10“Thus says Sennacherib king of Assyria: ‘Whereon do you trust, that you remain in the siege in Jerusalem? ^32:11Does not Hezekiah persuade you to give yourselves over to die by famine and by thirst, saying, ‘Jehovah our God shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?’ ^32:12Has not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, ‘You shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it?’ ^32:13Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the people of other lands? Were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of my hand? ^32:14Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of my hand? ^32:15Now therefore do not let Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner; neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers. How much less shall your God deliver you out of my hand?’” ^32:16And his servants spoke yet more against Jehovah God, and against his servant Hezekiah. ^32:17He also wrote letters to rail on Jehovah God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, “As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of my hand, so the God of Hezekiah shall not deliver his people out of my hand.” ^32:18Then they cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ speech to the people of Jerusalem that were on the wall, to frighten them, and to trouble them, that they might take the city. ^32:19And they spoke against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, which were the work of the hands of man.

^32:20And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to Heaven.

^32:21And Jehovah sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valor, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria.

So he returned with humiliation to his own land; and when he came into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels assassinated him there with the sword.

^32:22Thus Jehovah saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side. ^32:23And many brought gifts to Jehovah to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah, so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from that time forward.

therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.

^32:26Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of Jehovah did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

^32:27And Hezekiah had exceedingly much riches and honor. And he made himself treasuries for silver, for gold, for precious stones, for spices, for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels; ^32:28storehouses also for the increase of grain, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and cotes for flocks. ^32:29Moreover he provided himself cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him great substance. ^32:30This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all of his works.

^32:31Nevertheless in the matter of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to test him, that he might know all that was in his heart.

^32:32Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his goodness, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

^32:33And Hezekiah slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the highest of the graves of the sons of David.

And all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem honored him at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned in his place.

^29:3En el primer año de su reinado, en el mes primero, abrió las puertas de la Casa de Jehová, y las reparó. ^29:4E hizo venir a los sacerdotes y levitas, y los juntó en la plaza oriental. ^29:5Y les dijo, “Oídme, levitas, y santificaos ahora, y santificaréis la Casa de Jehová el Dios de vuestros padres, y sacaréis del Santuario la inmundicia: ^29:6porque nuestros padres se han rebelado, y han hecho lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová nuestro Dios; que le dejaron, y apartaron sus rostros del Tabernáculo de Jehová, y le volvieron las espaldas. ^29:7Y aun cerraron las puertas del pórtico, y apagaron las lámparas; no quemaron incienso, ni sacrificaron holocausto en el Santuario al Dios de Israel. ^29:8Por tanto la ira de Jehová ha venido sobre Judá y Jerusalén, y los ha entregado a turbación, y a horror y escarnio, como veis ustedes con vuestros ojos. ^29:9Y he aquí nuestros padres han caído a espada, y nuestros hijos, nuestras hijas y nuestras esposas están en cautividad por causa de esto.

^29:10Ahora, pues, yo he determinado hacer pacto con Jehová el Dios de Israel, para que aparte de nosotros la ira de su furor. ^29:11Hijos míos, no os engañéis ahora: porque Jehová os ha escogido a ustedes para que estéis delante de él, y le sirváis, y seáis sus ministros, y le queméis incienso”.

^29:12Entonces los levitas se levantaron, Mahat hijo de Amasai, y Joel hijo de Azarías, de los hijos de Coat; y de los hijos de Merari, Cis hijo de Abdi, y Azarías hijo de Jehalelel; y de los hijos de Gersón, Joah hijo de Zima, y Edén hijo de Joah; ^29:13y de los hijos de Elizafán, Simri y Jeiel; y de los hijos de Asaf, Zacarías y Matanías. ^29:14Y de los hijos de Hemán, Jehiel y Simeí; y de los hijos de Jedutún, Semaías y Uziel. ^29:15Éstos reunieron a sus hermanos, y se santificaron, y entraron, conforme al mandamiento del rey y las palabras de Jehová, para limpiar la Casa de Jehová. ^29:16Y entrando los sacerdotes dentro de la Casa de Jehová para limpiarla, sacaron toda la inmundicia que hallaron en el Templo de Jehová, al atrio de la Casa de Jehová; la cual tomaron los levitas, para sacarla fuera al torrente de Cedrón. ^29:17Y comenzaron a santificar el día primero del mes primero, y a los ocho del mismo mes vinieron al pórtico de Jehová; y santificaron la Casa de Jehová en ocho días, y en el día dieciséis del mes primero acabaron.

^29:18Luego vinieron al rey Ezequías y le dijeron, “Ya hemos limpiado toda la Casa de Jehová, el altar del holocausto, y todos sus instrumentos, y la mesa de la proposición con todos sus utensilios. ^29:19Asimismo hemos preparado y santificado todos los utensilios que en su prevaricación había desechado el rey Acaz, cuando reinaba; y he aquí están delante del altar de Jehová”.

¶Lo opuesto   Ezequías condujo al pueblo a un renovado pacto con Jehová en el templo (2 Crónicas 29:20 - 36)

^29:20Y levantándose de mañana el rey Ezequías reunió a los principales de la ciudad, y subió a la Casa de Jehová. ^29:21Y trajeron siete becerros, siete carneros, siete corderos, y siete machos cabríos, para expiación por el reino, por el santuario y por Judá. Y dijo a los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón, que los ofreciesen sobre el altar de Jehová. ^29:22Mataron, pues, los siete becerros, y los sacerdotes tomaron la sangre, y la esparcieron sobre el altar; mataron luego los carneros, y esparcieron la sangre sobre el altar; asimismo mataron los corderos, y esparcieron la sangre sobre el altar. ^29:23Hicieron después llegar los machos cabríos de la expiación delante del rey y de la multitud, y pusieron sobre ellos sus manos; ^29:24y los sacerdotes los mataron, y expiando esparcieron la sangre de ellos sobre el altar, para reconciliar a todo Israel: porque por todo Israel mandó el rey hacer el holocausto y la expiación. ^29:25Puso también levitas en la Casa de Jehová con címbalos, y salterios, y arpas, conforme al mandamiento de David, y de Gad vidente del rey, y de Natán Profeta: porque así era el mandamiento de Jehová, por medio de sus Profetas. ^29:26Y los levitas estaban con los instrumentos de David, y los sacerdotes con trompetas. ^29:27Entonces mandó Ezequías sacrificar el holocausto en el altar; y al tiempo que comenzó el holocausto, comenzó también el cántico de Jehová, con las trompetas y los instrumentos de David rey de Israel. ^29:28Y toda la multitud adoraba, y los cantores cantaban, y los trompetistas tocaban las trompetas; todo hasta acabarse el holocausto.

^29:29Y cuando acabaron de ofrecer, se inclinó el rey, y todos los que con él estaban, y adoraron. ^29:30Entonces el rey Ezequías y los príncipes dijeron a los levitas que alabasen a Jehová por las palabras de David y de Asaf vidente. Y ellos alabaron con grande alegría, e inclinándose adoraron.

^29:31Y respondiendo Ezequías, dijo, “Ustedes os habéis consagrado ahora a Jehová; acercaos, pues, y presentad sacrificios y alabanzas en la Casa de Jehová”. Y la multitud presentó sacrificios y alabanzas; y todos los de corazón liberal trajeron holocaustos. ^29:32Y fue el número de los holocaustos que trajo la congregación, setenta becerros, cien carneros, doscientos corderos; todo para el holocausto de Jehová. ^29:33Y las ofrendas fueron seiscientos bueyes, y tres mil ovejas.

^29:34Pero los sacerdotes eran pocos, y no bastaban para desollar los holocaustos; y así sus hermanos los levitas les ayudaron hasta que acabaron la obra, y hasta que los sacerdotes se santificaron: porque los levitas fueron más rectos de corazón para santificarse que los sacerdotes. ^29:35Así, pues, hubo gran multitud de holocaustos, con grosuras de las ofrendas de paz, y libaciones de cada holocausto. Y quedó ordenado el servicio de la Casa de Jehová.

^29:36Y se alegró Ezequías, y todo el pueblo, de que Dios hubiese preparado el pueblo: porque la cosa fue prestamente hecha.

§El complemento   Cuerpo: Ezequías dirigió a Judá e Israel a una renovada dedicación para servir a Jehová durante la Pascua (2 Crónicas 30:1 - 32:21)

¶Único   Ezequías envió mensajeros a todo Israel y Judá para que vengan a la Pascua a adorar a Jehová (2 Crónicas 30:1 - 14)

^30:1Envió también Ezequías por todo Israel y Judá, y escribió cartas a Efraín y a Manasés, que viniesen a Jerusalén a la Casa de Jehová, para celebrar la Pascua a Jehová Dios de Israel. ^30:2Y el rey había tomado consejo con sus príncipes, y con toda la congregación en Jerusalén, para celebrar la Pascua en el mes segundo: ^30:3porque entonces no la podían celebrar, por cuanto no había suficientes sacerdotes santificados, ni el pueblo se había reunido en Jerusalén.

^30:4Esto agradó al rey y a toda la multitud. ^30:5Y determinaron hacer pasar pregón por todo Israel, desde Beerseba hasta Dan, para que viniesen a celebrar la Pascua a Jehová Dios de Israel, en Jerusalén: porque en mucho tiempo no la habían celebrado al modo que está escrito.

^30:6Así que los corredores llevaron las cartas del rey y sus príncipes por todo Israel y Judá, de acuerdo con el mandato del rey, diciendo, “Ustedes hijos de Israel, regresen a Jehová, el Dios de Abraham, Isaac e Israel; y él volverá al resto de ustedes, que escapó de la mano de los reyes de Asiria. ^30:7No seáis como vuestros padres y como vuestros hermanos, que se rebelaron contra Jehová el Dios de sus padres, y él los entregó a desolación, como ustedes veis. ^30:8No endurezcáis, pues, ahora vuestra cerviz como vuestros padres; someteos a Jehová, y venid a su santuario, el cual él ha santificado para siempre; y servid a Jehová vuestro Dios, y el furor de su ira se apartará de ustedes: ^30:9porque si os volviereis a Jehová, vuestros hermanos y vuestros hijos hallarán misericordia delante de los que los llevaron cautivos, y volverán a esta tierra: porque Jehová vuestro Dios es clemente y misericordioso, y no volverá de ustedes su rostro, si ustedes os volviereis a él”.

^30:10Pasaron, pues, los correos de ciudad en ciudad por la tierra de Efraín y Manasés, hasta Zabulón; pero se reían y burlaban de ellos.

^30:11Sin embargo, muchos de Aser, Manasés y Zabulón se humillaron y llegaron a Jerusalén. ^30:12En Judá también fue la mano de Dios para darles un solo corazón para cumplir el mensaje del rey y de los príncipes, conforme a la Palabra de Jehová. ^30:13Y se juntó en Jerusalén mucha gente para celebrar la fiesta solemne de los panes sin levadura en el mes segundo; una vasta reunión. ^30:14Y levantándose, quitaron los altares que había en Jerusalén; quitaron también todos los altares de incienso, y los echaron en el torrente de Cedrón.

¶El complemento   Ezequías y la asamblea celebraron el sacrificio de la Pascua en el Templo de Jehová (2 Crónicas 30:15 - 31:1)

^30:15Entonces sacrificaron la Pascua, a los catorce días del mes segundo; y los sacerdotes y los levitas llenos de vergüenza se santificaron, y trajeron los holocaustos a la Casa de Jehová. ^30:16Y se pusieron en su lugar conforme a su costumbre, conforme a la Ley de Moisés varón de Dios; y los sacerdotes esparcían la sangre que recibían de manos de los levitas. ^30:17Porque había muchos en la congregación que no estaban santificados, y por eso los levitas sacrificaban la Pascua por todos los que no se habían purificado, para santificarlos a Jehová: ^30:18porque una gran multitud del pueblo de Efraín y Manasés, y de Isacar y Zabulón, no se habían purificado, y comieron la Pascua no conforme a lo que está escrito. Pero Ezequías oró por ellos, diciendo, “Jehová, que es bueno, sea propicio a todo aquel que ha apercibido su corazón para buscar a Dios, ^30:19a Jehová el Dios de sus padres, aunque no esté purificado según la purificación del santuario”. ^30:20Y oyó Jehová a Ezequías, y sanó al pueblo.

^30:21Así los hijos de Israel que estaban presentes en Jerusalén celebraron la Fiesta solemne de los Panes sin Levadura por siete días con grande gozo; y los levitas y los sacerdotes alababan a Jehová día tras día, cantando con instrumentos resonantes a Jehová. ^30:22Y habló Ezequías al corazón de todos los levitas que tenían buena inteligencia en el servicio de Jehová. Y comieron de lo sacrificado en la fiesta solemne por siete días, ofreciendo sacrificios de paz, y dando gracias a Jehová el Dios de sus padres.

^30:23Y toda la congregación determinó que celebrasen otros siete días; y celebraron otros siete días con alegría: ^30:24porque Ezequías rey de Judá había dado a la multitud mil becerros y siete mil ovejas; y también los príncipes dieron al pueblo mil becerros y diez mil ovejas; y muchos sacerdotes se santificaron. ^30:25Se alegró, pues, toda la congregación de Judá, como también los sacerdotes y levitas, y toda la multitud que había venido de Israel; asimismo los extranjeros que habían venido de la tierra de Israel, y los que habitaban en Judá. ^30:26Y hubo gran alegría en Jerusalén: porque desde los días de Salomón hijo de David rey de Israel, no había habido cosa semejante en Jerusalén. ^30:27Después, levantándose los sacerdotes y levitas, bendijeron al pueblo; y la voz de ellos fue oída, y su oración llegó a la habitación de su santuario, al Cielo.

^31:1Hechas todas estas cosas, todos los de Israel que habían estado presentes, salieron por las ciudades de Judá, y quebraron las estatuas y destruyeron las imágenes de Asera, y derribaron los lugares altos y los altares por todo Judá y Benjamín, y también en Efraín y Manasés, hasta acabarlo todo.

Después se volvieron todos los hijos de Israel cada uno a su posesión, en sus propias ciudades.

¶El complemento   Ezequías restauró a los levitas a sus lugares de servicio en el Templo de Jehová (2 Crónicas 31:2 - 21)

^31:2Y arregló Ezequías los grupos de los sacerdotes y de los levitas conforme a sus porciones, cada uno según su oficio, los sacerdotes y los levitas para el holocausto y las ofrendas de paz, para que ministrasen, para que diesen gracias y alabasen en las puertas de los atrios de Jehová. ^31:3La contribución del rey de su hacienda, era holocaustos a mañana y tarde, y holocaustos para los Sábados, lunas nuevas y fiestas solemnes, como está escrito en la Ley de Jehová.

^31:4Mandó también al pueblo que habitaba en Jerusalén, que diesen la porción a los sacerdotes y levitas, para que se esforzasen en la Ley de Jehová. ^31:5Y como este edicto fue divulgado, los hijos de Israel dieron muchas primicias de grano, vino, aceite, miel, y de todos los frutos de la tierra; trajeron asimismo los diezmos de todas las cosas en abundancia.

^31:6También los hijos de Israel y de Judá, que habitaban en las ciudades de Judá, dieron del mismo modo los diezmos de las vacas y de las ovejas, y trajeron los diezmos de lo santificado, de las cosas que habían prometido a Jehová su Dios, y los pusieron por montones. ^31:7En el mes tercero comenzaron a formar aquellos montones, y en el mes séptimo acabaron. ^31:8Y Ezequías y los príncipes vinieron a ver los montones, y bendijeron a Jehová, y a su pueblo Israel.

^31:9Y preguntó Ezequías a los sacerdotes y a los levitas acerca de los montones. ^31:10Y Azarías, sumo sacerdote de la casa de Sadoc, le respondió, “Desde que comenzaron a traer la ofrenda a la Casa de Jehová, hemos comido y nos hemos saciado, y nos ha sobrado mucho: porque Jehová ha bendecido su pueblo, y ha quedado esta gran provisión”. ^31:11Entonces mandó Ezequías que preparasen cámaras en la Casa de Jehová; y las prepararon. ^31:12Y metieron las primicias y diezmos y las cosas consagradas, fielmente; y dieron cargo de ello a Conanías levita, el principal, y Simeí su hermano fue el segundo. ^31:13Y Jehiel, Azazías, Nahat, Asael, Jerimot, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismaquías, Mahat, y Benaía, fueron los mayordomos bajo la mano de Conanías y de Simeí su hermano, por mandamiento del rey Ezequías y de Azarías, príncipe de la Casa de Dios. ^31:14Y Coré hijo de Imna levita, portero al oriente, tenía cargo de las ofrendas voluntarias para Dios, y de distribuir las ofrendas dedicadas a Jehová, y de todo lo que se santificaba. ^31:15Y a su mano estaba Edén, Miniamín, Jesúa, Semaías, Amarías, y Secanías, en las ciudades de los sacerdotes, para dar con fidelidad a sus hermanos sus porciones conforme a sus grupos, así al mayor como al menor, ^31:16a los varones según sus genealogías, de tres años arriba, a todos los que entraban en la Casa de Jehová, su porción diaria por su ministerio según sus cargos y grupos. ^31:17También a los que eran contados entre los sacerdotes por las familias de sus padres, y a los levitas de edad de veinte años arriba, conforme a sus cargos y grupos; ^31:18asimismo a los de su generación con todos sus niños, sus esposas, sus hijos e hijas, de toda la congregación: porque con fidelidad se consagraban a las cosas santas. ^31:19Del mismo modo en orden a los hijos de Aarón, sacerdotes, que estaban en los ejidos de sus ciudades, por todas las ciudades, los varones nombrados tenían cargo de dar sus porciones a todos los varones de entre los sacerdotes, y a todo el linaje de los levitas.

^31:20De esta manera hizo Ezequías en todo Judá; y ejecutó lo bueno, recto, y verdadero, delante de Jehová su Dios. ^31:21En todo cuanto comenzó en el servicio de la Casa de Dios, y en la Ley y Mandamientos, buscó a su Dios, y lo hizo de todo corazón, y fue prosperado.

¶Lo opuesto   Ezequías preparó a Jerusalén para la batalla con el ejército de Asiria (2 Crónicas 32:1 - 8)

^32:1Después de estas cosas y de esta fidelidad, vino Senaquerib rey de los asirios, entró en Judá, y acampó contra las ciudades fortificadas, con la intención de conquistarlas.

^32:2Viendo, pues, Ezequías que Senaquerib había venido, y que se había propuesto combatir a Jerusalén, ^32:3tuvo consejo con sus príncipes y con sus valientes, para cegar las fuentes de las aguas que estaban fuera de la ciudad; y ellos le apoyaron.

^32:4Entonces se juntó mucho pueblo, y cegaron todas las fuentes, y el arroyo que corría a través del territorio, diciendo, “¿Por qué han de hallar los reyes de Asiria muchas aguas cuando vinieren?”.

^32:5Se animó así Ezequías, y edificó todos los muros caídos, e hizo levantar las torres, y otro muro por fuera; fortificó además a Milo en la ciudad de David, e hizo muchas espadas y escudos.

^32:6Y puso capitanes de guerra sobre el pueblo, y los hizo reunir así en la plaza de la puerta de la ciudad, y les habló al corazón de ellos, diciendo, ^32:7“Esforzaos y sed valientes; no temáis, ni tengáis miedo del rey de Asiria, ni de toda su multitud que con él viene: porque más hay con nosotros que con él. ^32:8Con él está el brazo de carne, pero con nosotros está Jehová nuestro Dios, para ayudarnos y pelear nuestras batallas”. Y el pueblo tuvo confianza en las palabras de Ezequías rey de Judá.

¶Lo opuesto   Jehová envió un ángel que destruyó el ejército de Asiria (2 Crónicas 32:9 - 23)

^32:9Después de esto Senaquerib rey de los asirios (estando él sobre Laquis y con él todas sus fuerzas), envió sus siervos a Jerusalén, para decir a Ezequías rey de Judá, y a todos los de Judá que estaban en Jerusalén, ^32:10“Así ha dicho Senaquerib rey de los asirios, ‘¿En quién confiáis ustedes que permanecéis sitiados en Jerusalén? ^32:11¿No os engaña Ezequías para entregaros a morir de hambre y de sed, diciendo, ‘Jehová nuestro Dios nos librará de la mano del rey de Asiria?’ ^32:12¿No es el mismo Ezequías quien ha quitado sus lugares altos y sus altares, y dijo a Judá y a Jerusalén, ‘Delante de este solo altar adoraréis, y sobre él quemaréis incienso?’ ^32:13¿No sabéis lo que yo y mis padres hemos hecho a todos los pueblos de la tierra? ¿Pudieron los dioses de las naciones de aquellas tierras librar su tierra de mi mano? ^32:14¿Qué dios hubo de entre todos los dioses de aquellas naciones que destruyeron mis padres, que pudiese salvar su pueblo de mi mano, para que pueda vuestro Dios libraros de mi mano? ^32:15Ahora, pues, no os engañe Ezequías, ni os persuada tal cosa, ni le creáis; que si ningún dios de todas aquellas naciones y reinos pudo librar su pueblo de mis manos, y de las manos de mis padres, ¿cuánto menos vuestro Dios os podrá librar de mi mano?”. ^32:16Y otras cosas más hablaron sus siervos contra Jehová Dios, y contra su siervo Ezequías. ^32:17Además de esto escribió cartas en que blasfemaba a Jehová el Dios de Israel, y hablaba contra él, diciendo, “Como los dioses de las naciones de otras tierras no pudieron librar a su pueblo de mis manos, tampoco el Dios de Ezequías librará al suyo de mis manos”. ^32:18Y gritaron a gran voz en judaico al pueblo de Jerusalén que estaba en los muros, para espantarles y atemorizarles, para tomar la ciudad. ^32:19Y hablaron contra el Dios de Jerusalén, como contra los dioses de los pueblos de la tierra, obra de manos de hombres.

^32:20Pero el rey Ezequías, y el Profeta Isaías hijo de Amoz, oraron por esto, y clamaron al Cielo.

^32:21Y Jehová envió un ángel, el cual hirió a todo valiente y esforzado, y a los jefes y capitanes en el campamento del rey de Asiria.

Se volvió por tanto con vergüenza de rostro a su tierra; y entrando en el templo de su dios, allí lo mataron a espada los que habían salido de sus entrañas.

^32:22Así salvó Jehová a Ezequías y a los moradores de Jerusalén de las manos de Senaquerib rey de Asiria, y de las manos de todos; y los condujo por todas partes. ^32:23Y muchos trajeron ofrenda a Jehová a Jerusalén, y a Ezequías rey de Judá, ricos dones; y fue muy grande delante de todas las naciones después de esto.

§El complemento   Conclusión: Ezequías terminó su reinado con probando desde Jehová y el honor desde el pueblo (2 Crónicas 32:24 - 33)

¶El complemento   Ezequías fue levantado arriba con orgullo debido al milagro del sol moviéndose hacia atrás en el cielo, pero se arrepintió (2 Crónicas 32:24 - 26)

^32:24En aquellos días, Ezequías padecía una enfermedad terminal; y oró a Jehová.

Y habló con él, y le dio una señal.

^32:25Pero Ezequías no volvió a pagar el beneficio que le había sido hecho, porque su corazón se enalteció de orgullo;

por tanto, hubo ira sobre él, y sobre Judá y Jerusalén.

^32:26No obstante, Ezequías se humilló por la soberbia de su corazón, tanto él como los habitantes de Jerusalén, para que la ira de Jehová no vino sobre ellos en los días de Ezequías.

¶El complemento   Ezequías fue honrado por todo Judá y Jerusalén en su muerte (2 Crónicas 32:27 - 33)

^32:27Y tuvo Ezequías riquezas y gloria mucha en gran manera; y se hizo de tesoros de plata y oro, de piedras preciosas, de perfumes, de escudos, y de toda clase de alhajas preciosas. ^32:28Asimismo depósitos para las rentas del grano, del vino, y aceite; establos para toda clase de bestias, y apriscos para los ganados. ^32:29Se hizo también ciudades, y rebaños de ovejas y de vacas en gran abundancia: porque Dios le había dado muchas posesiones. ^32:30Este Ezequías tapó los manaderos de las aguas de Gihón la de arriba, y las encaminó abajo al occidente de la ciudad de David. Y fue prosperado Ezequías en todo lo que hizo.

^32:31Pero en lo de los embajadores de los príncipes de Babilonia, que enviaron a él para saber del prodigio que había acaecido en aquella tierra, Dios lo dejó, para probarle, para hacer conocer todo lo que estaba en su corazón.

^32:32Lo demás de los hechos de Ezequías, y de sus misericordias, he aquí todo está escrito en la profecía del Profeta Isaías, hijo de Amoz, en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel.

^32:33Y durmió Ezequías con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en los más insignes sepulcros de los hijos de David.

Y todo Judá y los habitantes de Jerusalén le honraron en su muerte. Y Manasés su hijo reinó en su lugar.
