^1:3So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon: for the Tabernacle of the congregation of God was there, which Moses the servant of Jehovah had made in the wilderness.

^1:4But David had brought up the Ark of God from Kirjath-jearim to the place which David had prepared for it, because he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.

^1:5Moreover the altar of bronze, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the Tabernacle of Jehovah; and Solomon and the congregation sought to it.

^1:6And Solomon went up there to the altar of bronze before Jehovah, which was at the Tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.

^1:7In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask what I shall give you”. ^1:8And Solomon said to God, “You have shown great mercy to David my father, and have made me to reign in his place. ^1:9Now, O Jehovah God, let your promise to David my father be established: for you have made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude. ^1:10Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this your people, that is so great?” ^1:11And God said to Solomon, “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of your enemies; neither yet have asked long life, but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge my people, over whom I have made you king: ^1:12wisdom and knowledge is granted to you; and I will give you riches, wealth, and honor, such as none of the kings have had that have been before you; neither shall any king after you have the like.”

^1:13Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the Tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.

^1:14And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen; and he had fourteen hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

^1:15And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plentiful as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycamore trees that are in the vale for abundance. ^1:16And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn; the king’s merchants received the linen yarn at a price. ^1:17And they acquired, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for one hundred and fifty; and so they brought out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.

^2:1And Solomon determined to build a House for the Name of Jehovah, and a house for his kingdom. ^2:2And Solomon numbered seventy thousand men to bear burdens, and eighty thousand to cut in the mountain, and three thousand, six hundred men to oversee them. ^2:3And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, “As you dealt with David my father, and sent him cedars to build him a house to dwell in it, even so deal with me. ^2:4Behold, I am building a House to the Name of Jehovah my God: to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual showbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of Jehovah our God. This is an Ordinance forever to Israel. ^2:5And the House which I am building is great: for our God is great above all gods. ^2:6But who is able to build him a House, seeing the heaven and Heaven of heavens cannot contain him? Who am I then, that I should build him a House, except only to burn sacrifice before him? ^2:7Send me now therefore a man skillful to work in gold, and in silver, and in bronze, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with the skilled men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father provided. ^2:8Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon: for I know that your servants can skill to cut timber in Lebanon; and, behold, my servants shall be with your servants, ^2:9even to prepare me timber in abundance: for the House which I am about to build shall be great and wonderful. ^2:10And, behold, I will give to your servants, the cutters that cut timber: twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.” ^2:11Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, “Because Jehovah has loved his people, he has made you king over them.” ^2:12Huram said moreover, “Blessed is Jehovah God of Israel, that made Heaven and earth, who has given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build a House for Jehovah, and a house for his kingdom. ^2:13And now have I sent a skilled man, endowed with understanding, of Huram my father’s, ^2:14the son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skillful to work in gold, and in silver, in bronze, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson; also to grave any manner of engraving, and to find out every device which shall be put to him, with your skilled men, and with the skilled men of my lord David your father. ^2:15Now therefore the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, which my lord has spoken of, let him send it to his servants; ^2:16and we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as you shall need; and we will bring it to you in floats by sea to Joppa; and you shall carry it up to Jerusalem.”

^2:17And Solomon counted all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering by which David his father had numbered them; and they were found to be one hundred and fifty-three thousand, six hundred. ^2:18And he set seventy thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and eighty thousand to be cutters in the mountain, and three thousand, six hundred overseers to set the people to work. ^3:1Then Solomon began to build the House of Jehovah at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where Jehovah appeared to David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. ^3:2And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.

^3:3Now these are the things in which Solomon was instructed for the building of the House of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was sixty cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits. ^3:4And the porch that was in the front of the House, the length of it was according to the breadth of the House, twenty cubits, and the height was one hundred and twenty cubits; and he overlaid it within with pure gold. ^3:5And he paneled the greater House with fir tree, which he overlaid with fine gold, and set on it palm trees and chains. ^3:6And he decorated the House with precious stones for beauty; and the gold was gold of Parvaim. ^3:7He also overlaid the House, the beams, the posts, and its walls, and its doors, with gold; and carved cherubims on the walls. ^3:8And he made the most holy House, the length of which was according to the breadth of the House, twenty cubits, and its breadth twenty cubits; and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents. ^3:9And the weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold. And he overlaid the upper chambers with gold. ^3:10And in the most holy House he made two cherubims of image work, and overlaid them with gold. ^3:11And the wings of the cherubims were twenty cubits long: one wing of the one cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the House; and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cherub. ^3:12And one wing of the other cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the House; and the other wing was five cubits also, joining to the wing of the other cherub. ^3:13The wings of these cherubims spread themselves forth twenty cubits in total; and they stood on their feet, and their faces were inward. ^3:14And he made the veil of blue, and purple, and crimson, and fine linen, and made cherubims on it. ^3:15Also he made before the House two pillars of thirty-five cubits in height, and the capital that was on the top of each of them was five cubits. ^3:16And he made chains, as in the oracle, and put them on the heads of the pillars; and made one hundred pomegranates, and put them on the chains. ^3:17And he raised up the pillars before the Temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.

^4:1Moreover he made an altar of bronze, twenty cubits its length, and twenty cubits its breadth, and ten cubits its height. ^4:2Also he made a molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and five cubits its height; and it had a circumference of thirty cubits. ^4:3And under it was the similitude of oxen, which circled it round about: ten in a cubit, circling the sea round about. Two rows of oxen were cast, when it was cast. ^4:4It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east; and the sea was set above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward. ^4:5And the thickness of it was a handbreadth, and the brim of it like the work of the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies; and it received and held three thousand baths of water. ^4:6He made also ten lavers, and put five on the right hand, and five on the left, to wash in them: such things as they offered for the burnt offering they washed in them; but the sea was for the priests to wash in. ^4:7And he made ten candlesticks of gold according to their form, and set them in the Temple: five on the right hand, and five on the left. ^4:8He also made ten tables, and placed them in the Temple: five on the right side, and five on the left. And he made one hundred basins of gold. ^4:9Furthermore he made the court of the priests, and the great court, and doors for the court, and overlaid the doors of them with bronze. ^4:10And he set the sea on the right side of the east end, over against the south. ^4:11And Huram made the pots, the shovels, and the basins. And Huram finished the work that he was to make for king Solomon for the House of God: ^4:12namely, the two pillars, the pommels, and the capitals which were on the top of the two pillars, and the two wreaths to cover the two pommels of the capitals which were on the top of the pillars; ^4:13and four hundred pomegranates on the two wreaths; two rows of pomegranates on each wreath, to cover the two pommels of the capitals which were upon the pillars. ^4:14He also made bases, and he made lavers upon the bases; ^4:15one sea, and twelve oxen under it. ^4:16Also Huram his father made the pots, the shovels, the flesh hooks, and all their instruments, of bright bronze unto king Solomon for the House of Jehovah. ^4:17The king cast them in the plain of Jordan, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zeredathah. ^4:18Thus Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance: for the weight of the bronze could not be found out. ^4:19And Solomon made all the vessels that were for the House of God, the golden altar also, and the tables whereon the showbread was set; ^4:20moreover the candlesticks with their lamps, that they should burn after the manner before the oracle, of pure gold; ^4:21and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs, made he of gold, and that perfect gold; ^4:22and the snuffers, the basins, the spoons, and the censers, of pure gold; and the entry of the House, its inner doors for the most holy place, and the doors of the House of the Temple, were of gold.

^5:1Thus all the work that Solomon made for the House of Jehovah was finished; and Solomon brought in all the things that David his father had dedicated; and the silver, the gold, and all the instruments, put he among the treasures of the House of God.

¶Complement   The glory of Jehovah filled the Holy Place at the Dedication of the Temple (2 Chronicles 5:2 - 6:11)

^5:2Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, to Jerusalem, to bring up the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah out of the city of David, which is Zion. ^5:3Therefore all the men of Israel assembled themselves to the king in the feast which was in the seventh month. ^5:4And all the elders of Israel came.

And the Levites took up the Ark; ^5:5and they brought up the Ark, and the Tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tabernacle: these did the priests and the Levites bring up. ^5:6Also king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel that were assembled to him before the Ark, sacrificed sheep and oxen, which could not be tallied nor numbered for multitude. ^5:7And the priests brought in the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah to his place, to the oracle of the House, into the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims: ^5:8for the cherubims spread forth their wings over the place of the Ark, and the cherubims covered the Ark and its poles above. ^5:9And they drew out the poles of the Ark, so that the ends of the poles were seen from the Ark before the oracle; but they were not seen outside. And there it is until this day. ^5:10There was nothing in the Ark except the two tables which Moses put in it at Horeb, when Jehovah made a Covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.

^5:11And it came to pass, when the priests came out of the holy place (for all the priests that were present were sanctified, and did not then wait by turn; ^5:12also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them one hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets), ^5:13it came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking Jehovah; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised Jehovah, saying, “For he is good: for his mercy endures forever”, that then the House was filled with a cloud (even the House of Jehovah), ^5:14so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of Jehovah had filled the House of God.

^6:1Then Solomon said, “Jehovah has said that he would dwell in the thick darkness. ^6:2But I have built a House of habitation for you, and a place for your dwelling forever.”

^6:3And the king turned his face, and blessed the whole congregation of Israel; and all the congregation of Israel stood. ^6:4And he said, “Blessed is Jehovah God of Israel, who has with his hands fulfilled that which he spoke with his mouth to my father David, saying, ^6:5‘Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build a House in, that my Name might be there; neither did I choose any man to be a ruler over my people Israel; ^6:6but now I have chosen Jerusalem, that my Name might be there; and I have also chosen David to be over my people Israel.’ ^6:7And it was in the heart of David my father to build a House for the Name of Jehovah God of Israel. ^6:8But Jehovah said to David my father, ‘Forasmuch as it was in your heart to build a House for my Name, you did well in that it was in your heart. ^6:9Notwithstanding you shall not build the House; but your son which shall come forth out of your loins, he shall build the House for my Name.’ ^6:10Therefore Jehovah has performed his Word that he has spoken: for I have risen up in the room of David my father, and am set on the throne of Israel, as Jehovah promised, and have built the House for the Name of Jehovah God of Israel. ^6:11And in it have I put the Ark, in which is the Covenant of Jehovah, that he made with the children of Israel.”

^6:12And he stood before the altar of Jehovah in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands: ^6:13for Solomon had made a scaffold of bronze: five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high; and had set it in the midst of the court. And he stood upon it, and kneeled down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward Heaven; ^6:14and he said, “O Jehovah God of Israel, there is no God like you in the Heaven, nor in the earth, who keeps your Covenant, and shows mercy to your servants that walk before you with all their hearts: ^6:15you which have kept with your servant David my father that which you promised him, and spoke with your mouth, and have fulfilled it with your hand, as it is this day. ^6:16Now therefore, O Jehovah God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father that which you promised him, saying, ‘There shall not fail you a man in my sight to sit upon the throne of Israel; yet so that your children take heed to their way to walk in my Law, as you have walked before me.’ ^6:17Now then, O Jehovah God of Israel, let your Word be verified, which you have spoken to your servant David.

^6:18“But will God in truth dwell with men on the earth? Behold, heaven and the Heaven of heavens cannot contain you; how much less this House which I have built! ^6:19Therefore have respect to the prayer of your servant, and to his supplication, O Jehovah my God, to give heed to the cry and the prayer which your servant is praying before you, ^6:20that your eyes may be open upon this House day and night, upon the place whereof you have said that you would put your Name there; to give heed to the prayer which your servant is praying toward this place. ^6:21Therefore give heed to the supplications of your servant, and of your people Israel, which they shall make toward this place: hear from your dwelling place, even from Heaven; and when you hear, forgive. ^6:22If a man sins against his neighbor, and an oath is laid upon him to make him swear, and the oath comes before your altar in this House, ^6:23then hear from Heaven, and do, and judge your servants, by repaying the wicked, by returning his way upon his own head; and by justifying the righteous, by giving him according to his righteousness. ^6:24And if your people Israel are put to the worse before the enemy, because they have sinned against you; and shall return and confess your Name, and pray and make supplication before you in this House, ^6:25then hear from the heavens, and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them again to the land which you gave to them and to their fathers. ^6:26When the heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against you: yet if they pray toward this place, and confess your Name, and turn from their sin, when you afflict them, ^6:27then hear from Heaven, and forgive the sin of your servants, and of your people Israel, when you have taught them the good way, that they should walk in; and send rain upon your land, which you have given to your people for an inheritance. ^6:28If there is famine in the land, if there is plague, if there is strong wind, or mildew, locusts, or caterpillars: if their enemies besiege them in the cities of their land, or whatsoever trouble or whatsoever sickness there may be, ^6:29and whatsoever prayer or supplication shall be made of any man, or of all your people Israel, when everyone shall know his own trouble and his own grief, and shall spread forth his hands in this House, ^6:30then hear from Heaven your dwelling place, and forgive, and render to every man according to all his ways, whose heart you know (for only you know the hearts of the children of men), ^6:31that they may fear you, to walk in your ways, so long as they live in the land which you gave to our fathers. ^6:32Moreover concerning the Gentile, which is not of your people Israel, but has come from a far country for your great Name’s sake, and your mighty hand, and your stretched out arm: if they come and pray in this House, ^6:33then hear from the heavens, even from your dwelling place, and do according to all that the Gentile calls to you for, that all people of the earth may know your Name, and fear you, as do your people Israel, and may know that this House which I have built is called by your Name. ^6:34If your people go out to war against their enemies by the way that you shall send them, and they pray to you toward this city which you have chosen, and the House which I have built for your Name, ^6:35then hear from the heavens their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause. ^6:36If they sin against you (for there is no man who does not sin), and you are angry with them, and deliver them over before their enemies, and they carry them away captives to a land far off or near: ^6:37yet if they come to themselves in the land where they have been carried captive, and turn and pray to you in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned, we have done amiss, and have dealt wickedly’; ^6:38if they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, where they have carried them captives, and pray toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, and toward the city which you have chosen, and toward the House which I have built for your Name, ^6:39then hear from the heavens, even from your dwelling place, their prayer and their supplications, and maintain their cause, and forgive your people which have sinned against you.

^6:40“Now, my God, please, let your eyes be open, and let your ears be attentive to the prayer that is made in this place. ^6:41Now therefore arise, O Jehovah God, into your resting place: you, and the Ark of your strength; let your priests, O Jehovah God, be clothed with salvation, and let your saints rejoice in goodness. ^6:42O Jehovah God, turn not away the face of your anointed. Remember the mercies of David your servant.”

^7:1Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from Heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of Jehovah filled the House. ^7:2And the priests could not enter into the House of Jehovah, because the glory of Jehovah had filled the House of Jehovah.

^7:3And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of Jehovah upon the House, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised Jehovah, saying, “For he is good: for his mercy endures forever.”

¶Opposite   Solomon and all Israel worshiped Jehovah and celebrated the Dedication of the Temple and the feast days (2 Chronicles 7:4 - 11)

^7:4Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before Jehovah. ^7:5And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand oxen, and one hundred and twenty thousand sheep, so the king and all the people dedicated the House of God. ^7:6And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of music of Jehovah, which David the king had made to praise Jehovah, because his mercy endures forever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood. ^7:7Moreover Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the House of Jehovah: for there he offered burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the altar of bronze which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offerings, and the meal offerings, and the fat.

^7:8Also at the same time Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath to the river of Egypt.

^7:9And in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.

^7:10And on the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people away into their tents, glad and merry in heart for the goodness that Jehovah had shown to David, to Solomon, and to Israel his people.

^7:11Thus Solomon finished the House of Jehovah, and the king’s house; and all that came into Solomon’s heart to make in the House of Jehovah, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.

¶Opposite   Jehovah gave Solomon his blessing on the Temple, and a personal warning (2 Chronicles 7:12 - 22)

^7:12And Jehovah appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him, “I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for a House of sacrifice. ^7:13If I shut up Heaven so that there is no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send a plague among my people: ^7:14if my people, which are called by my Name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

^7:15“Now my eyes shall be open, and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place: ^7:16for now have I chosen and sanctified this House, that my Name may be there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.”

^7:17“And as for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded you, and shall observe my Statutes and my Judgments, ^7:18then will I establish the throne of your kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David your father, saying, ‘There shall not fail you a man to be ruler in Israel.’

^7:19“But if you turn away, and forsake my Statutes and my Commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them, ^7:20then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them. And this House, which I have sanctified for my Name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations.

^7:21“And this House, which is high, shall be an astonishment to everyone that passes by it, so that he shall say, ‘Why has Jehovah done this to this land, and to this House?’ ^7:22And it shall be answered, ‘Because they forsook Jehovah God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them; therefore has he brought all this evil upon them.’”

¶Complement   Solomon built his Kingdom and perfected the Temple of Jehovah (2 Chronicles 8:1 - 16)

^8:1And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the House of Jehovah, and his own house, ^8:2that the cities which Huram had restored to Solomon, Solomon built them, and caused the children of Israel to dwell there. ^8:3And Solomon went to Hamath-zobah, and prevailed against it. ^8:4And he built Tadmor in the wilderness, and all the store cities, which he built in Hamath. ^8:5Also he built Beth-horon the upper, and Beth-horon the lower: fortified cities, with walls, gates, and bars; ^8:6and Baalath, and all the store cities that Solomon had, and all the chariot cities, and the cities of the horsemen, and all that Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and throughout all the land of his dominion.

^8:7As for all the people that were left of the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which were not of Israel, ^8:8but of their children, who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel did not consume, Solomon made them pay tribute until this day. ^8:9But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men of war, and chief of his captains, and captains of his chariots and horsemen. ^8:10And these were the chief of king Solomon’s officers, even two hundred and fifty, that ruled over the people.

^8:11And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David to the house that he had built for her: for he said, “My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, where the Ark of Jehovah has come.”

^8:12Then Solomon offered burnt offerings to Jehovah on the altar of Jehovah, which he had built before the porch, ^8:13even after a certain rate every day, offering according to the Commandment of Moses: on the Sabbaths, and on the new moons; and on the solemn feasts, three times in the year: in the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and in the Feast of Weeks, and in the Feast of Tabernacles. ^8:14And he appointed, according to the order of David his father, the divisions of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their charges, to praise and minister before the priests, as the duty of every day required; the gatekeepers also by their divisions at every gate: for so had David the man of God commanded. ^8:15And they did not depart from the command of the king to the priests and Levites concerning any matter, or concerning the treasures.

^8:16Now all the work of Solomon was prepared until the day of the foundation of the House of Jehovah, and until it was finished. So the House of Jehovah was perfected.

¶Complement   The wisdom and wealth of Solomon were extraordinary and historic (2 Chronicles 8:17 - 9:31)

^8:17Then Solomon went to Ezion-geber, and to Eloth, at the seaside in the land of Edom. ^8:18And Huram sent ships to him by the hands of his servants, and servants that had knowledge of the sea; and they went with the servants of Solomon to Ophir; and they took four hundred and fifty talents of gold from there, and brought them to king Solomon.

^9:1And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to test Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that carried spices and gold in abundance, and precious stones; and when she came to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart. ^9:2And Solomon answered all her questions; and there was nothing too difficult for Solomon which he did not explain to her. ^9:3And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built, ^9:4and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, his cupbearers also, and their apparel, and his ascent by which he went up into the House of Jehovah, there was no more spirit in her. ^9:5And she said to the king, “It was a true report which I heard in my own land of your acts, and of your wisdom; ^9:6nevertheless I did not believe their words, until I came, and my eyes had seen it; and, behold, the half of the greatness of your wisdom was not told me: for you exceed the fame that I heard. ^9:7Happy are your men, and happy are these your servants, which stand continually before you, and hear your wisdom. ^9:8Blessed be Jehovah your God, which delighted in you to set you on his throne, to be king for Jehovah your God. Because your God loved Israel, to establish them forever, therefore he made you king over them, to do judgment and justice.” ^9:9And she gave the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold, and great abundance of spices and precious stones; neither was there any such spice as the queen of Sheba gave king Solomon. ^9:10And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, which brought gold from Ophir, brought algum trees and precious stones. ^9:11And the king made of the algum trees terraces to the House of Jehovah, and to the king’s palace, and harps and psalteries for singers; and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah. ^9:12And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which she had brought to the king. So she turned, and went away to her own land, she and her servants.

^9:13Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and sixty-six talents of gold, ^9:14beside that which traders and merchants brought. And all the kings of Arabia and governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon. ^9:15And king Solomon made two hundred large shields of beaten gold: six hundred shekels of beaten gold went to one large shield. ^9:16And three hundred small shields made he of beaten gold: three hundred shekels of gold went to one small shield. And the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon. ^9:17Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold. ^9:18And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and armrests on each side of the sitting place, and two lions standing by the armrests; ^9:19and twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps. There was not the like made in any kingdom. ^9:20And all the drinking vessels of king Solomon were of gold; and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: none were of silver. It was accounted as nothing in the days of Solomon: ^9:21for the king’s ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram; once every three years the ships of Tarshish came bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.

^9:22And king Solomon passed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom. ^9:23And all the kings of the earth desired the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, that God had put in his heart. ^9:24And they brought every man his present: vessels of silver, and vessels of gold; also clothing, harness, spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year. ^9:25And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem. ^9:26And he reigned over all the kings from the Euphrates river even to the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt. ^9:27And the king made silver in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycamore trees that are in the low plains in abundance. ^9:28And they brought horses to Solomon out of Egypt, and out of all lands.

^9:29Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the Seer against Jeroboam the son of Nebat? ^9:30And Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years. ^9:31And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father; and Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.

^1:7Y aquella noche apareció Dios a Salomón, y le dijo, “Pide lo que quieras que yo te dé”. ^1:8Y Salomón dijo a Dios, “Tú has hecho con David mi padre grande misericordia, y a mí me has puesto por rey en lugar suyo. ^1:9Confírmese pues, ahora, oh Jehová Dios, tu palabra dada a David mi padre: porque tú me has puesto por rey sobre un pueblo tan numeroso como el polvo de la tierra. ^1:10Dame ahora sabiduría y entendimiento, para salir y entrar delante de este pueblo: porque ¿quién podrá juzgar a este tu pueblo que es tan grande?”. ^1:11Y dijo Dios a Salomón, “Por cuanto esto fue en tu corazón, que no pediste riquezas, ni posesiones, ni gloria, ni la vida de tus enemigos, ni pediste muchos días, sino que has pedido para ti sabiduría y entendimiento para gobernar a mi pueblo, sobre el cual te he puesto por rey, ^1:12sabiduría y entendimiento te son dados; y también te daré riquezas, posesiones, y gloria, cual nunca hubo en los reyes que han sido antes de ti, ni después de ti habrá”.

^2:1Determinó, pues, Salomón edificar Casa al Nombre de Jehová, y una casa para su reino. ^2:2Y contó Salomón setenta mil hombres que llevasen cargas, y ochenta mil hombres que cortasen en el monte, y tres mil seiscientos que los gobernasen. ^2:3Y envió a decir Salomón a Hiram rey de Tiro, “Haz conmigo como hiciste con David mi padre, enviándole cedros para que edificara para sí casa en que morase. ^2:4He aquí yo edifico Casa al Nombre de Jehová mi Dios, para consagrársela, para quemar incienso aromático delante de él, y para la colocación continua de los panes de la proposición, y para holocaustos a mañana y tarde, y los Sábados, y lunas nuevas, y festividades de Jehová nuestro Dios. Esto será ordenanza perpetua en Israel. ^2:5Y la Casa que voy a edificar será grande: porque nuestro Dios es grande sobre todos los dioses. ^2:6Pero ¿Quién podrá edificarle Casa, siendo que el cielo, y el Cielo de los cielos no le pueden contener? ¿Quién, pues, soy yo, para que le edifique Casa, aunque sólo sea para quemar incienso delante de él? ^2:7Envíame, pues, ahora un hombre hábil que sepa trabajar en oro, en plata, en bronce, en hierro, en púrpura, en grana y en azul, y que sepa esculpir con los maestros que están conmigo en Judá y en Jerusalén, los cuales dispuso mi padre. ^2:8Envíame también del Líbano, madera de cedro, de abeto y de sándalo: porque yo sé que tus siervos saben cortar madera en el Líbano; y he aquí, mis siervos irán con los tuyos, ^2:9para que me preparen mucha madera: porque la Casa que voy a edificar será grande y portentosa. ^2:10Y he aquí, para los trabajadores tus siervos, cortadores de madera, daré veinte mil coros de trigo en grano, y veinte mil coros de cebada, y veinte mil batos de vino, y veinte mil batos de aceite”. ^2:11Entonces Hiram rey de Tiro respondió por escrito que envió a Salomón, “Porque Jehová amó a su pueblo, te ha puesto por rey sobre ellos”. ^2:12Y además decía Hiram, “Bendito sea Jehová el Dios de Israel, que hizo el Cielo y la tierra, y que dio al rey David hijo sabio, entendido, cuerdo y prudente, que edifique Casa a Jehová, y casa para su reino. ^2:13Yo, pues, te he enviado un hombre hábil y entendido, que fue de Hiram mi padre, ^2:14hijo de una mujer de las hijas de Dan, pero su padre fue de Tiro; el cual sabe trabajar en oro, plata, bronce, hierro, en piedra, en madera, en púrpura, en azul, en lino fino y en carmesí; asimismo para esculpir toda clase de figuras, y sacar toda forma de diseño que se le propusiere, y estará con tus hombres peritos y con los de mi señor David tu padre. ^2:15Ahora, pues, envíe mi señor a sus siervos el trigo, la cebada, el aceite y el vino que ha dicho; ^2:16y nosotros cortaremos en el Líbano la madera que necesites, y te la traeremos en balsas por el mar hasta Jope, y tú la harás llevar hasta Jerusalén”.

^2:17Y contó Salomón todos los hombres extranjeros que estaban en la tierra de Israel, después de haberlos ya contado David su padre, y fueron hallados ciento cincuenta y tres mil seiscientos. ^2:18Y señaló de ellos setenta mil cargadores, y ochenta mil canteros en la montaña, y tres mil seiscientos supervisores para hacer trabajar al pueblo. ^3:1Entonces Salomón comenzó a edificar la Casa de Jehová en Jerusalén, en el monte Moriah donde Jehová se había aparecido a David su padre, en el lugar que David había preparado en la era de Ornán jebuseo. ^3:2Y comenzó a edificar en el mes segundo, a dos del mes, en el cuarto año de su reinado.

^3:3Éstas son las instrucciones que recibió Salomón para la construcción de la Casa de Dios. La primera medida, la longitud, de sesenta codos; y la anchura de veinte codos. ^3:4El pórtico que estaba en la parte frontal del templo, tenía longitud de veinte codos, igual al ancho de la Casa, y su altura de ciento veinte; y lo cubrió por dentro de oro puro. ^3:5Y techó la Casa mayor con madera de abeto, la cual cubrió de oro fino, e hizo resaltar sobre ella palmeras y cadenas. ^3:6Cubrió también la Casa de piedras preciosas para ornamento; y el oro era oro de Parvaim. ^3:7Así cubrió la Casa, sus vigas, sus umbrales, sus paredes y sus puertas, con oro; y esculpió querubines en las paredes. ^3:8Hizo asimismo la Casa del lugar santísimo, cuya longitud era de veinte codos según el ancho del frente de la Casa, y su anchura de veinte codos; y la cubrió de oro fino que ascendía a seiscientos talentos. ^3:9Y el peso de los clavos fue de cincuenta siclos de oro. Cubrió también de oro las salas. ^3:10Y dentro del lugar santísimo hizo dos querubines, obra de escultura, los cuales cubrió de oro. ^3:11La longitud de las alas de los querubines era de veinte codos: porque una ala era de cinco codos, la cual llegaba hasta la pared de la Casa; y la otra ala de cinco codos, la cual llegaba al ala del otro querubín. ^3:12De la misma manera una ala del otro querubín era de cinco codos, la cual llegaba hasta la pared de la Casa; y la otra ala era de cinco codos, que tocaba el ala del otro querubín. ^3:13Así las alas de estos querubines estaban extendidas por veinte codos; y estaban en pie con sus rostros hacia la Casa. ^3:14Hizo también el velo de azul, púrpura, carmesí y lino, e hizo resaltar en él querubines. ^3:15Delante de la Casa hizo dos columnas de treinta y cinco codos de altura, con sus capiteles encima, de cinco codos. ^3:16Hizo asimismo cadenas en el santuario, y las puso sobre los capiteles de las columnas; e hizo cien granadas, las cuales puso en las cadenas. ^3:17Y levantó las columnas delante del templo, una a la mano derecha, y la otra a la izquierda; y a la de la mano derecha llamó Jaquín, y a la de la izquierda, Boaz.

^4:1Hizo además un altar de bronce de veinte codos de longitud, y veinte codos de anchura, y diez codos de altura. ^4:2También hizo un mar de fundición, el cual tenía diez codos de un borde al otro, enteramente redondo; su altura era de cinco codos, y un cordón de treinta codos lo ceñía alrededor. ^4:3Y debajo de él había figuras de bueyes que lo circundaban, diez en cada codo todo alrededor; dos hileras de bueyes fundidos juntamente con el mar. ^4:4Estaba asentado sobre doce bueyes, tres de los cuales miraban al norte, y tres al occidente, y tres al sur, y tres al oriente; y el mar asentaba sobre ellos, y todas sus traseras estaban hacia el interior. ^4:5Y tenía de grueso un palmo menor, y el borde era como el borde de un cáliz, o de una flor de lirio; y recibía y le cabían tres mil batos. ^4:6Hizo también diez fuentes, y puso cinco a la derecha y cinco a la izquierda, para lavar y limpiar en ellas la obra del holocausto; pero el mar era para que los sacerdotes se lavaran en él. ^4:7Hizo asimismo diez candeleros de oro según su forma, los cuales puso en el templo, cinco a la derecha, y cinco a la izquierda. ^4:8Además hizo diez mesas y las puso en el templo, cinco a la derecha, y cinco a la izquierda. Igualmente hizo cien tazones de oro. ^4:9A más de esto hizo el atrio de los sacerdotes, y el gran atrio, y las portadas del atrio, y cubrió de bronce las puertas de ellas. ^4:10Y asentó el mar al lado derecho hacia el oriente, enfrente del sur. ^4:11Hizo también Hiram calderos, y palas, y tazones. Y acabó Hiram la obra que hacía al rey Salomón para la Casa de Dios; ^4:12las dos columnas, y los cordones, los capiteles sobre las cabezas de las dos columnas, y dos redes para cubrir las dos bolas de los capiteles que estaban sobre las columnas; ^4:13cuatrocientas granadas en las dos redecillas, dos hileras de granadas en cada redecilla, para que cubriesen las dos bolas de los capiteles que estaban sobre las columnas. ^4:14Hizo también las bases, sobre las cuales asentó las fuentes; ^4:15un mar, y doce bueyes debajo de él. ^4:16Y calderos, y palas, y garfios; y todos sus enseres hizo Hiram su padre al rey Salomón para la Casa de Jehová, de bronce finísimo. ^4:17Y los fundió el rey en los llanos del Jordán, en tierra arcillosa, entre Sucot y Zeredat. ^4:18Y Salomón hizo todos estos utensilios en número tan grande, que no pudo saberse el peso del bronce. ^4:19Así hizo Salomón todos los utensilios para la Casa de Dios, y el altar de oro, y las mesas sobre las cuales se ponían los panes de la proposición; ^4:20asimismo los candeleros y sus candilejas, de oro puro, para que las encendiesen delante del santuario interior conforme a la costumbre. ^4:21Y las flores, las lamparillas y las tenazas las hizo de oro, de oro perfecto. ^4:22También las despabiladeras, los tazones, las cucharas, y los incensarios eran de oro puro. Y la entrada de la Casa, sus puertas interiores para el lugar santísimo, y las puertas de la Casa del Templo eran de oro.

^5:1Y acabada que fue toda la obra que hizo Salomón para la Casa de Jehová, metió Salomón en ella las cosas que David su padre había dedicado; y puso la plata, y el oro, y todos los utensilios en los tesoros de la Casa de Dios.

¶El complemento   La gloria de Jehová llenó el Lugar Santo después de que los sacerdotes trajeron el Arca del Pacto a ella (2 Crónicas 5:1 - 6:11)

^5:2Entonces Salomón congregó en Jerusalén a los ancianos de Israel, a todos los príncipes de las tribus y a los jefes de las familias de los hijos de Israel, para que subiesen el Arca del Pacto de Jehová de la ciudad de David, que es Sión. ^5:3Y se juntaron al rey todos los varones de Israel, a la fiesta del mes séptimo. ^5:4Y vinieron todos los ancianos de Israel.

Y tomaron los levitas el arca; ^5:5y subieron el arca, y el Tabernáculo de la congregación, y todos los utensilios del santuario que estaban en el Tabernáculo; los sacerdotes y los levitas los subieron. ^5:6Y el rey Salomón, y toda la congregación de Israel que se había a él reunido delante del arca, sacrificaron ovejas y bueyes, que por la multitud no se pudieron contar ni numerar. ^5:7Y los sacerdotes metieron el Arca del Pacto de Jehová en su lugar, en el santuario interior de la Casa, en el lugar santísimo, bajo las alas de los querubines; ^5:8pues los querubines extendían las alas sobre el lugar del arca, y cubrían los querubines por encima así el arca como sus barras. ^5:9E hicieron salir fuera las barras, de modo que se viesen las cabezas de las barras del arca delante del santuario interior, pero no se veían desde fuera; y allí han quedado hasta hoy. ^5:10En el arca no había sino las dos tablas que Moisés había puesto en Horeb, con las cuales Jehová había hecho Pacto con los hijos de Israel, después que salieron de Egipto.

^5:11Y aconteció que cuando los sacerdotes salieron del santuario (porque todos los sacerdotes que se hallaron habían sido santificados, y no guardaban sus turnos), ^5:12y los levitas cantores, todos los de Asaf, los de Hemán, y los de Jedutún, juntamente con sus hijos y sus hermanos, vestidos de lino fino, estaban con címbalos y salterios y arpas al oriente del altar; y con ellos ciento veinte sacerdotes que tocaban trompetas; ^5:13sucedió pues, que cuando los trompetistas y cantores al unísono hicieron oír su voz para alabar y dar gracias a Jehová; cuando elevaron la voz con trompetas y címbalos e instrumentos de música y alabaron a Jehová, diciendo, “Porque él es bueno: porque para siempre es su misericordia”, la Casa se llenó entonces de una nube (la Casa de Jehová), ^5:14y no podían los sacerdotes continuar ministrando, por causa de la nube: porque la gloria de Jehová había llenado la Casa de Dios.

^6:1Entonces dijo Salomón, “Jehová ha dicho que él habitaría en la densa oscuridad. ^6:2Yo, pues, he edificado una Casa de morada para ti, y una habitación en que mores para siempre”.

^6:3Y volviendo el rey su rostro, bendijo a toda la congregación de Israel. Y toda la congregación de Israel estaba en pie. ^6:4Y él dijo, “Bendito sea Jehová Dios de Israel, el cual con su mano ha cumplido lo que habló por su boca a David mi padre, diciendo, ^6:5‘Desde el día que saqué mi pueblo de la tierra de Egipto, ninguna ciudad he elegido de todas las tribus de Israel para edificar Casa donde estuviese mi Nombre, ni he escogido varón que fuese príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel. ^6:6Pero a Jerusalén he elegido para que en ella esté mi Nombre, y a David he elegido para que esté sobre mi pueblo Israel’. ^6:7Y David mi padre tuvo en su corazón edificar Casa al Nombre de Jehová Dios de Israel. ^6:8Pero Jehová dijo a David mi padre, ‘Respecto a haber tenido en tu corazón edificar Casa a mi Nombre, bien has hecho en haber tenido esto en tu corazón. ^6:9Pero tú no edificarás la Casa, sino tu hijo que saldrá de tus lomos, él edificará Casa a mi Nombre’. ^6:10Y Jehová ha cumplido su Palabra que había dicho, pues me levanté yo en lugar de David mi padre, y me he sentado en el trono de Israel, como Jehová había dicho, y he edificado Casa al Nombre de Jehová Dios de Israel. ^6:11Y en ella he puesto el arca, en la cual está el Pacto de Jehová que él hizo con los hijos de Israel”.

¶El complemento   Salomón le habló a Jehová en el Lugar Santo en la Dedicación del Templo (2 Crónicas 6:12 - 7:3)

^6:12Se puso luego Salomón delante del altar de Jehová, en presencia de toda la congregación de Israel, y extendió sus manos: ^6:13porque Salomón había hecho una plataforma de bronce, de cinco codos de largo, y de cinco codos de ancho, y de altura de tres codos, y la había puesto en medio del atrio. Y se puso sobre ella, e hincando sus rodillas delante de toda la congregación de Israel, y extendiendo sus manos al Cielo, ^6:14dijo, “Jehová Dios de Israel, no hay Dios semejante a ti ni en el Cielo ni en la tierra, que guardas el pacto y la misericordia a tus siervos que caminan delante de ti con todo su corazón; ^6:15que has guardado a tu siervo David mi padre lo que le prometiste; tú lo prometiste con tu boca, y con tu mano lo has cumplido, como sucede este día. ^6:16Ahora pues, oh Jehová Dios de Israel, cumple a tu siervo David mi padre lo que le has prometido, diciendo, ‘No te faltará varón delante de mí, que se siente en el trono de Israel, a condición que tus hijos guarden su camino, andando en mi Ley, como tú delante de mí has andado’. ^6:17Ahora pues, oh Jehová Dios de Israel, sea confirmada tu Palabra que dijiste a tu siervo David.

^6:18“Pero ¿es verdad que Dios ha de habitar con el hombre en la tierra? He aquí que el cielo, y el Cielo de los cielos no te pueden contener; ¿cuánto menos esta Casa que yo he edificado? ^6:19Pero tú mirarás a la oración de tu siervo, y a su ruego, oh Jehová Dios mío, para oír el clamor y la oración con que tu siervo ora delante de ti. ^6:20Que tus ojos estén abiertos sobre esta Casa de día y de noche, sobre el lugar del cual dijiste: ‘Mi Nombre estará allí’; que oigas la oración con que tu siervo ora en este lugar. ^6:21Asimismo que oigas el ruego de tu siervo, y de tu pueblo Israel, cuando en este lugar hicieren oración, que tú oirás desde los Cielo, desde el lugar de tu morada; que oigas y perdones. ^6:22Si alguno pecare contra su prójimo, y él le pidiere juramento haciéndole jurar, y el juramento viniere delante de tu altar en esta Casa, ^6:23entonces escucha tú desde los Cielo, y actúa, y juzga a tus siervos, dando la paga al impío, tornándole su proceder sobre su cabeza, y justificando al justo en darle conforme a su justicia. ^6:24Si tu pueblo Israel cayere delante de los enemigos, por haber prevaricado contra ti, y se convirtieren, y confesaren tu Nombre, y rogaren delante de ti en esta Casa, ^6:25entonces escucha tú desde los cielos, y perdona el pecado de tu pueblo Israel, y hazles volver a la tierra que diste a ellos y a sus padres. ^6:26Si los Cielo se cerraren, y no hubiere lluvia, por haber ellos pecado contra ti, si oraren a ti en este lugar, y confesaren tu Nombre, y se convirtieren de sus pecados, cuando los afligieres, ^6:27entonces escucha tú desde los Cielo, y perdona el pecado de tus siervos y de tu pueblo Israel, y enséñales el buen camino para que anden en él, y darás lluvia sobre tu tierra, la cual diste por heredad a tu pueblo. ^6:28Y si hubiere hambre en la tierra, o si hubiere pestilencia, si hubiere tizoncillo o añublo, langosta o pulgón; o si los sitiaren sus enemigos en las ciudades de su tierra; cualquiera que sea la plaga o enfermedad; ^6:29toda oración y todo ruego que hiciere cualquier hombre, o todo tu pueblo Israel, cualquiera que conociere su llaga y su dolor en su corazón, si extendiere sus manos hacia esta Casa, ^6:30entonces escucha tú desde los Cielo, desde el lugar de tu habitación, y perdona, y da a cada uno conforme a sus caminos, habiendo conocido su corazón (porque sólo tú conoces el corazón de los hijos de los hombres); ^6:31para que te teman y anden en tus caminos, todos los días que vivan sobre la faz de la tierra que tú diste a nuestros padres. ^6:32Y también al extranjero que no fuere de tu pueblo Israel, que hubiere venido de lejanas tierras a causa de tu grande Nombre, y de tu mano fuerte, y de tu brazo extendido, si vinieren, y oraren en esta Casa, ^6:33entonces escucha tú desde los cielos, desde el lugar de tu morada, y haz conforme a todas las cosas por las cuales hubiere clamado a ti el extranjero; para que todos los pueblos de la tierra conozcan tu Nombre, y te teman así como tu pueblo Israel, y sepan que tu Nombre es invocado sobre esta Casa que yo he edificado. ^6:34Si tu pueblo saliere a la guerra contra sus enemigos por el camino que tú los enviares, y oraren a ti hacia esta ciudad que tú elegiste, hacia la Casa que he edificado a tu Nombre, ^6:35entonces escucha desde los cielos su oración y su ruego, y ampara su causa. ^6:36Si pecaren contra ti (pues no hay hombre que no peque), y te enojares contra ellos, y los entregares delante de sus enemigos, y éstos los llevaren cautivos a tierra lejana o cercana; ^6:37si ellos volvieren en sí en la tierra donde fueren llevados cautivos; y se convirtieren, y oraren a ti en la tierra de su cautividad, y dijeren, ‘Pecamos, hemos hecho inicuamente, impíamente hemos actuado’; ^6:38si se convirtieren a ti de todo su corazón y de toda su alma en la tierra de su cautividad, donde los hubieren llevado cautivos, y oraren hacia su tierra que tú diste a sus padres, hacia la ciudad que tú elegiste, y hacia la Casa que he edificado a tu Nombre; ^6:39entonces escucha desde los cielos, desde el lugar de tu morada, su oración y su ruego, y ampara su causa, y perdona a tu pueblo que pecó contra ti.

^6:40“Ahora, pues, oh Dios mío, te ruego que estén abiertos tus ojos, y atentos tus oídos a la oración en este lugar. ^6:41Oh Jehová Dios, levántate ahora para habitar en tu reposo, tú y el Arca de tu fortaleza; sean, oh Jehová Dios, vestidos de salvación tus sacerdotes, y tus santos se regocijen en tu bondad. ^6:42Jehová Dios, no voltees tu rostro de tu ungido; acuérdate de las misericordias para con David tu siervo”.

^7:1Y cuando Salomón acabó de orar, descendió fuego del Cielo y consumió el holocausto y las víctimas; y la gloria de Jehová llenó la Casa. ^7:2Y no podían entrar los sacerdotes en la Casa de Jehová: porque la gloria de Jehová había llenado la Casa de Jehová.

^7:3Y cuando todos los hijos de Israel vieron descender el fuego y la gloria de Jehová sobre la Casa, cayeron en tierra sobre sus rostros en el pavimento, y adoraron, y dieron gracias a Jehová, diciendo, “Porque él es bueno, y su misericordia es para siempre”.

¶Lo opuesto   Salomón y todo Israel adoraron a Jehová y celebraron la Dedicación del Templo y los días de fiesta (2 Crónicas 7:4 - 11)

^7:4Entonces el rey y todo el pueblo sacrificaron víctimas delante de Jehová. ^7:5Y ofreció el rey Salomón en sacrificio veintidós mil bueyes, y ciento veinte mil ovejas; y así dedicaron la Casa de Dios el rey y todo el pueblo. ^7:6Y los sacerdotes cumplían con su ministerio; y los levitas con los instrumentos de música de Jehová, los cuales había hecho el rey David para alabar a Jehová porque su misericordia es para siempre; cuando David alababa por medio de ellos. Asimismo los sacerdotes tocaban trompetas delante de ellos, y todo Israel estaba en pie. ^7:7También santificó Salomón el medio del atrio que estaba delante de la Casa de Jehová, por cuanto había ofrecido allí los holocaustos, y la grosura de las ofrendas de paz: porque en el altar de bronce que Salomón había hecho, no podían caber los holocaustos, las ofrendas y las grosuras.

^7:8Entonces hizo Salomón fiesta siete días, y con él todo Israel, una grande congregación, desde la entrada de Hamat hasta el arroyo de Egipto.

^7:9Al octavo día hicieron asamblea solemne: porque celebraron la dedicación del altar siete días, y la fiesta siete días.

^7:10Y a los veintitrés del mes séptimo envió al pueblo a sus tiendas, alegres y gozosos de corazón por los beneficios que Jehová había hecho a David y a Salomón, y a su pueblo Israel.

^7:11Acabó, pues, Salomón la Casa de Jehová, y la casa del rey; y en todo lo que Salomón se propuso hacer en la Casa de Jehová y en su propia casa, fue prosperado.

¶Lo opuesto   Jehová le dio a Salomón su bendición sobre el Templo, y una advertencia personal (2 Crónicas 7:12 - 22)

^7:12Y apareció Jehová a Salomón de noche, y le dijo, “Yo he oído tu oración, y he elegido para mí este lugar por Casa de sacrificio. ^7:13Si yo cerrare los Cielo, para que no haya lluvia, y si mandare a la langosta que consuma la tierra, o si enviare pestilencia a mi pueblo: ^7:14si se humillare mi pueblo, sobre el cual mi Nombre es invocado, y oraren, y buscaren mi rostro, y se convirtieren de sus malos caminos; entonces yo oiré desde los Cielo, y perdonaré sus pecados, y sanaré su tierra.

^7:15“Ahora estarán abiertos mis ojos, y atentos mis oídos, a la oración en este lugar: ^7:16pues que ahora he elegido y santificado esta Casa, para que esté en ella mi Nombre para siempre; y mis ojos y mi corazón estarán ahí para siempre”.

^7:17“Y tú, si anduvieres delante de mí, como anduvo David tu padre, e hicieres todas las cosas que yo te he mandado, y guardares mis Estatutos y mis Derechos, ^7:18yo confirmaré el trono de tu reino, como pacté con David tu padre, diciendo, ‘No te faltará varón que gobierne en Israel’.

^7:19“Pero si ustedes os volviereis, y dejareis mis estatutos y mis preceptos que os he propuesto, y fuereis y sirviereis a dioses ajenos, y los adorareis, ^7:20yo os arrancaré de mi tierra que os he dado; y esta Casa que he santificado a mi Nombre, yo la echaré de delante de mí, y la pondré por proverbio y escarnio en todos los pueblos.

^7:21“Y esta Casa que es alta, será espanto a todo el que pasare, y dirá, ‘¿Por qué ha hecho así Jehová a esta tierra y a esta Casa?’ ^7:22Y se responderá, ‘Por cuanto dejaron a Jehová Dios de sus padres, el cual los sacó de la tierra de Egipto, y han abrazado dioses ajenos, y los adoraron y sirvieron; por eso él ha traído todo este mal sobre ellos’”.

§Único   Conclusión: El Reino de Salomón fue la Edad de Oro de Israel durante el Antiguo Pacto (2 Crónicas 8:1 - 9:31)

¶El complemento   Salomón construyó su Reino y perfeccionó el Templo de Jehová (2 Crónicas 8:1 - 16)

^8:Y aconteció que al cabo de veinte años que Salomón había edificado la Casa de Jehová y su casa, ^8:2reedificó Salomón las ciudades que Hiram le había dado, y estableció en ellas a los hijos de Israel. ^8:3Después vino Salomón a Hamat de Soba, y la tomó. ^8:4Y edificó a Tadmor en el desierto, y todas las ciudades de abastecimiento que edificó en Hamat. ^8:5Asimismo reedificó a Bet-horón la de arriba, y a Bet-horón la de abajo, ciudades fortificadas, de muros, puertas, y barras; ^8:6y a Baalat, y a todas las ciudades de abastecimiento que Salomón tenía; también todas las ciudades de los carros, y las ciudades de la gente de a caballo; y todo lo que Salomón quiso edificar en Jerusalén, y en el Líbano, y en toda la tierra de su señorío.

^8:7Y a todo el pueblo que había quedado de los heteos, amorreos, ferezeos, heveos y jebuseos, que no eran de Israel, ^8:8los hijos de los que habían quedado en la tierra después de ellos, a los cuales los hijos de Israel no destruyeron del todo, hizo Salomón tributarios hasta hoy. ^8:9Y de los hijos de Israel no puso Salomón siervos en su obra: porque eran hombres de guerra, y sus príncipes y sus capitanes, y comandantes de sus carros, y su gente de a caballo. ^8:10Y tenía Salomón doscientos cincuenta principales de los gobernadores, los cuales mandaban en aquella gente.

^8:11Y pasó Salomón a la hija de Faraón, de la ciudad de David a la casa que él había edificado para ella: porque dijo, “Mi esposa no morará en la casa de David rey de Israel: porque aquellas habitaciones donde ha entrado el Arca de Jehová, son santas”.

^8:12Entonces ofreció Salomón holocaustos a Jehová sobre el altar de Jehová, que había él edificado delante del pórtico, ^8:13para que ofreciesen cada cosa en su día, conforme al mandamiento de Moisés, en los Sábados, en las nuevas lunas, y en las fiestas solemnes, tres veces en el año: esto es, en la Fiesta de los Panes sin Levadura, en la Fiesta de las Semanas, y en la Fiesta de los Tabernáculos. ^8:14Y constituyó los turnos de los sacerdotes en sus oficios, conforme a lo establecido por David su padre; y los levitas por sus órdenes, para que alabasen y ministrasen delante de los sacerdotes, cada cosa en su día; asimismo los porteros por su orden a cada puerta: porque así lo había mandado David, varón de Dios. ^8:15Y no se apartaron del mandamiento del rey dado a los sacerdotes y a los levitas, en ningún asunto, ni en cuanto a los tesoros.

^8:16Porque toda la obra de Salomón estaba preparada desde el día en que la Casa de Jehová fue fundada hasta que se acabó, hasta que la Casa de Jehová fue acabada del todo.

¶El complemento   La sabiduría y la riqueza de Salomón fueron extraordinarias e históricas (2 Crónicas 8:17 - 9:31)

^8:17Entonces Salomón fue a Ezión-geber, y a Elot, a la costa del mar en la tierra de Edom. ^8:18Porque Hiram le había enviado navíos por mano de sus siervos, y marineros diestros en el mar, los cuales fueron con los siervos de Salomón a Ofir, y tomaron de allá cuatrocientos cincuenta talentos de oro, y los trajeron al rey Salomón.

^9:1Oyendo la reina de Seba la fama de Salomón, vino a Jerusalén con un séquito muy grande, con camellos cargados de especias aromáticas, y oro en abundancia, y piedras preciosas, para probar a Salomón con preguntas difíciles. Y luego que vino a Salomón, habló con él todo lo que en su corazón tenía. ^9:2Pero Salomón le respondió a todas sus preguntas; nada hubo tan difícil que Salomón no le pudiese responder. ^9:3Y viendo la reina de Seba la sabiduría de Salomón, y la casa que había edificado, ^9:4los manjares de su mesa, las sillas de sus siervos, el estado de sus criados, las vestiduras de ellos, sus maestresalas y sus vestiduras, y su escalinata por donde subía a la Casa de Jehová, se quedó sin aliento. ^9:5Y ella dijo al rey, “Verdad es lo que había oído en mi tierra de tus hechos y de tu sabiduría; ^9:6pero yo no creía las palabras de ellos, hasta que he venido, y mis ojos han visto; y he aquí que ni aun la mitad de la grandeza de tu sabiduría me había sido dicha: porque tú sobrepasas la fama que yo había oído. ^9:7Bienaventurados tus hombres, y dichosos estos tus siervos, que están siempre delante de ti, y oyen tu sabiduría. ^9:8Jehová tu Dios sea bendito, el cual se ha agradado en ti para ponerte sobre su trono por rey para Jehová tu Dios; por cuanto tu Dios amó a Israel para afirmarlo perpetuamente, por eso te ha puesto por rey sobre ellos, para que hagas juicio y justicia”. ^9:9Y dio al rey ciento veinte talentos de oro, y gran cantidad de especias aromáticas y piedras preciosas; nunca hubo tales especias aromáticas como las que dio la reina de Seba al rey Salomón. ^9:10También los siervos de Hiram y los siervos de Salomón, que habían traído el oro de Ofir, trajeron madera de sándalo, y piedras preciosas. ^9:11E hizo el rey de la madera de sándalo gradas en la Casa de Jehová, y en las casas reales, y arpas y salterios para los cantores; nunca en tierra de Judá se había visto madera semejante. ^9:12Y el rey Salomón dio a la reina de Seba todo lo que ella quiso y le pidió, más de lo que ella había traído al rey. Después se volvió y se fue a su tierra con sus siervos.

^9:13Y el peso de oro que venía a Salomón cada un año, era seiscientos sesenta y seis talentos de oro, ^9:14sin contar el que traían los mercaderes y negociantes. También todos los reyes de Arabia y los príncipes de la tierra traían oro y plata a Salomón. ^9:15Hizo también el rey Salomón doscientos escudos de oro labrado, cada uno de los cuales tenía seiscientos siclos de oro labrado. ^9:16Asimismo trescientos escudos de oro labrado, teniendo cada escudo trescientos siclos de oro. Y los puso el rey en la casa del bosque del Líbano. ^9:17Hizo además el rey un gran trono de marfil, y lo cubrió de oro puro. ^9:18Y había seis gradas al trono, con un estrado de oro fijado al trono, y brazos a ambos lados del asiento, y dos leones que estaban junto a los brazos. ^9:19Había también allí doce leones sobre las seis gradas, a uno y otro lado. Jamás fue hecho otro trono semejante en ningún reino. ^9:20Toda la vajilla del rey Salomón era de oro, y toda la vajilla de la casa del bosque del Líbano, de oro puro. En los días de Salomón la plata no era de estima: ^9:21porque la flota del rey iba a Tarsis con los siervos de Hiram, y cada tres años solían venir las naves de Tarsis, y traían oro, plata, marfil, simios y pavos reales.

^9:22Y excedió el rey Salomón a todos los reyes de la tierra en riqueza y en sabiduría. ^9:23Y todos los reyes de la tierra procuraban ver el rostro de Salomón, para oír su sabiduría, que Dios había puesto en su corazón. ^9:24Y de éstos, cada uno traía su presente, vasos de plata, vasos de oro, vestiduras, armas, aromas, caballos y mulos, todos los años. ^9:25Tuvo también Salomón cuatro mil caballerizas para los caballos y carros, y doce mil jinetes, los cuales puso en las ciudades de los carros, y con el rey en Jerusalén. ^9:26Y tuvo señorío sobre todos los reyes desde el río hasta la tierra de los filisteos, y hasta el término de Egipto. ^9:27E hizo el rey que en Jerusalén la plata llegara a ser como las piedras, y los cedros como los sicómoros que se dan en abundancia en los valles. ^9:28Sacaban también caballos para Salomón, de Egipto y de todas las provincias.

^9:29Lo demás de los hechos de Salomón, primeros y postreros, ¿no está todo escrito en los libros de Natán Profeta, y en la profecía de Ahías silonita, y en las profecías del vidente Iddo contra Jeroboam hijo de Nabat? ^9:30Y reinó Salomón en Jerusalén sobre todo Israel cuarenta años. ^9:31Y durmió Salomón con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David su padre; y reinó en su lugar Roboam su hijo.
