^22:5And David said, “Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the House that is to be built for Jehovah must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries; therefore I will make preparation for it now.”

So David prepared abundantly before his death.

^22:6Then he called for Solomon his son, and commanded him to build a House for Jehovah God of Israel. ^22:7And David said to Solomon, “My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a House to the Name of Jehovah my God. ^22:8But the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ‘You have shed blood abundantly, and have made great wars; you shall not build a House to my Name, because you have shed much blood upon the earth in my sight. ^22:9Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days. ^22:10He shall build a House for my Name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’

^22:11“Now, my son, Jehovah be with you, and prosper you; and build the House of Jehovah your God, as he has said of you. ^22:12Only Jehovah give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the Law of Jehovah your God. ^22:13Then shall you prosper, if you take heed to fulfill the Statutes and Judgments which Jehovah charged Moses with concerning Israel. Be strong, and of good courage; do not dread, nor be dismayed.”

^22:14“Now, behold, in my trouble, I have prepared for the House of Jehovah one hundred thousand talents of gold, and one million talents of silver; and of bronze and iron without weight: for it is in abundance; I have also prepared timber and stone; and you may add to it.

^22:15“Moreover there are workmen with you in abundance, cutters and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of skilled men for every manner of work. ^22:16Of the gold, the silver, the bronze, and the iron, it is uncountable. Arise therefore, and get busy, and Jehovah be with you.”

^22:17David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying, ^22:18“Is not Jehovah your God with you? And has he not given you rest on every side? For he has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand; and the land has been subdued before Jehovah, and before his people. ^22:19Now set your heart and your soul to seek Jehovah your God. Therefore arise, and build the Sanctuary of Jehovah God: to bring the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah, and the holy vessels of God, into the House that is to be built to the Name of Jehovah.”

^23:3Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward; and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty-eight thousand: ^23:4of which twenty-four thousand were to set forward the work of the House of Jehovah, and six thousand were officers and judges; ^23:5moreover four thousand were gatekeepers; and four thousand praised Jehovah with the instruments “which I made,” said David, “to praise.” ^23:6And David divided them into divisions among the sons of Levi: namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. ^23:7Of the Gershonites were Laadan and Shimei, ^23:8the sons of Laadan: the chief was Jehiel, Zetham, and Joel: three; ^23:9the sons of Shimei were Shelomith, Haziel, and Haran: three; these were the chief of the fathers of Laadan. ^23:10And the sons of Shimei were Jahath, Zina, Jeush, and Beriah: these four were the sons of Shimei. ^23:11And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second. But Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons; therefore they were in one reckoning, according to their father’s house. ^23:12The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel: four. ^23:13The sons of Amram were Aaron and Moses; and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons forever, to burn incense before Jehovah, to minister to him, and to bless in his Name forever. ^23:14Now concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi. ^23:15The sons of Moses were Gershom and Eliezer. ^23:16Of the sons of Gershom, Shebuel was the chief. ^23:17And the sons of Eliezer were Rehabiah the chief. And Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very many. ^23:18Of the sons of Izhar: Shelomith the chief. ^23:19Of the sons of Hebron: Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth. ^23:20Of the sons of Uzziel: Micah the first, and Jesiah the second. ^23:21The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli were Eleazar and Kish. ^23:22And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters; and their brethren the sons of Kish took them. ^23:23The sons of Mushi were Mahli, Eder, and Jeremoth: three. ^23:24These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the House of Jehovah, from the age of twenty years and upward: ^23:25for David said, “Jehovah God of Israel has given rest to his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem forever; ^23:26and also to the Levites, because they shall not carry the Tabernacle anymore, nor any vessels of it for its service.” ^23:27For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above, ^23:28because their responsibility was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the House of Jehovah, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the House of God, ^23:29both for the showbread, and for the fine flour for meal offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size; ^23:30and to stand every morning to thank and praise Jehovah, and likewise at evening; ^23:31and to offer all burnt sacrifices to Jehovah in the Sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded to them, continually before Jehovah; ^23:32and that they should keep the charge of the Tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the House of Jehovah.

^24:1Now these are the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. ^24:2But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children; therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest’s office. ^24:3And David distributed them, both Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their offices in their service. ^24:4And there were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar; and thus were they divided. Among the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen chief men of the house of their fathers, and eight among the sons of Ithamar according to the house of their fathers. ^24:5Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another: for the governors of the Sanctuary, and governors of the House of God, were of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar. ^24:6And Shemaiah the son of Nethaneel the scribe, one of the Levites, wrote them before the king, and the princes, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and before the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites: one principal household being taken for Eleazar, and one taken for Ithamar. ^24:7Now the first lot came forth to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah, ^24:8the third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim, ^24:9the fifth to Malchijah, the sixth to Mijamin, ^24:10the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah, ^24:11the ninth to Jeshua, the tenth to Shecaniah, ^24:12the eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim, ^24:13the thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab, ^24:14the fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer, ^24:15the seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Aphses, ^24:16the nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezekel, ^24:17the twenty-first to Jachin, the twenty-second to Gamul, ^24:18the twenty-third to Delaiah, and the twenty-fourth to Maaziah. ^24:19These were the orderings of them in their service to come into the House of Jehovah, according to their manner, under Aaron their father, as Jehovah God of Israel had commanded him. ^24:20And the rest of the sons of Levi were these: of the sons of Amram: Shubael; of the sons of Shubael: Jehdeiah. ^24:21Concerning Rehabiah: of the sons of Rehabiah, the first was Isshiah; ^24:22of the Izharites: Shelomoth; of the sons of Shelomoth: Jahath. ^24:23And the sons of Hebron were Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth. ^24:24The sons of Uzziel: Michah; of the sons of Michah: Shamir. ^24:25The brother of Michah was Isshiah; of the sons of Isshiah: Zechariah. ^24:26The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi; the sons of Jaaziah: Beno. ^24:27The sons of Merari by Jaaziah: Beno, Shoham, Zaccur, and Ibri. ^24:28Of Mahli came Eleazar, who had no sons. ^24:29Concerning Kish: the son of Kish was Jerahmeel. ^24:30The sons also of Mushi were Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites after the house of their fathers. ^24:31These likewise cast lots over before their brethren the sons of Aaron in the presence of David the king, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites, even the principal fathers over before their younger brethren.

^25:1Moreover David and the captains of the army separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, of Heman, and of Jeduthun, those who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals. And the number of the workmen according to their service was, ^25:2of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah: the sons of Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied according to the order of the king. ^25:3Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah: six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise Jehovah. ^25:4Of Heman: the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth; ^25:5all these were the sons of Heman the king’s Seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters. ^25:6All these were under the hands of their father for song in the House of Jehovah, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the House of God, according to the king’s order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman. ^25:7So the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of Jehovah, even all that were skilled, was two hundred and eighty-eight. ^25:8And they cast lots, ward against ward, the small as well as the great, the teacher as well as the scholar. ^25:9Now the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph; the second to Gedaliah, who with his brethren and sons were twelve; ^25:10the third to Zaccur: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:11the fourth to Izri: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:12the fifth to Nethaniah: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:13the sixth to Bukkiah: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:14the seventh to Jesharelah: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:15the eighth to Jeshaiah: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:16the ninth to Mattaniah: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:17the tenth to Shimei: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:18the eleventh to Azareel: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:19the twelfth to Hashabiah: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:20the thirteenth to Shubael: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:21the fourteenth to Mattithiah: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:22the fifteenth to Jeremoth: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:23the sixteenth to Hananiah: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:24the seventeenth to Joshbekashah: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:25the eighteenth to Hanani: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:26the nineteenth to Mallothi: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:27the twentieth to Eliathah: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:28the twenty-first to Hothir: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:29the twenty-second to Giddalti: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:30the twenty-third to Mahazioth: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve; ^25:31the twenty-fourth to Romamti-ezer: he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve.

^26:1Concerning the divisions of the gatekeepers: of the Korhites was Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph. ^26:2And the sons of Meshelemiah were Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth, ^26:3Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, and Elioenai the seventh. ^26:4Moreover the sons of Obed-edom were Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar the fourth, Nethaneel the fifth, ^26:5Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, and Peulthai the eighth: for God blessed him. ^26:6Also to Shemaiah his son were sons born, that ruled throughout the house of their father: for they were mighty men of valor. ^26:7The sons of Shemaiah were Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad, whose brethren were strong men: Elihu and Semachiah. ^26:8All these of the sons of Obed-edom (they and their sons and their brethren, able men for strength for the service) were sixty-two of Obed-edom. ^26:9And Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, strong men: eighteen. ^26:10Also Hosah, of the children of Merari, had sons: Simri the chief (for though he was not the firstborn, yet his father made him the chief), ^26:11Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, and Zechariah the fourth; all the sons and brethren of Hosah were thirteen. ^26:12Among these were the divisions of the gatekeepers, even among the chief men, having wards one against another, to minister in the House of Jehovah. ^26:13And they cast lots, as well the small as the great, according to the house of their fathers, for every gate. ^26:14And the lot eastward fell to Shelemiah. Then for Zechariah his son, a wise advisor, they cast lots; and his lot came out northward. ^26:15To Obed-edom the lot came forth southward, and to his sons the house of Asuppim. ^26:16To Shuppim and Hosah the lot came forth westward, with the gate Shallecheth, by the causeway of the going up, ward against ward. ^26:17Eastward were six Levites, northward four a day, southward four a day, and toward Asuppim two and two. ^26:18At Parbar westward, four at the causeway, and two at Parbar. ^26:19These are the divisions of the gatekeepers among the sons of Korah, and among the sons of Merari: ^26:20and of the Levites: Ahijah was over the treasures of the House of God, and over the treasures of the dedicated things. ^26:21As concerning the sons of Laadan: the sons of the Gershonite Laadan, chief fathers, even of Laadan the Gershonite, was Jehieli. ^26:22The sons of Jehieli were Zetham and Joel his brother, which were over the treasures of the House of Jehovah. ^26:23Of the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites: ^26:24and Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was ruler of the treasures. ^26:25And his brethren by Eliezer: Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son, and Shelomith his son; ^26:26which Shelomith and his brethren were over all the treasures of the dedicated things, which David the king, and the chief fathers, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the army, had dedicated. ^26:27Out of the plunder won in battles did they dedicate to maintain the House of Jehovah. ^26:28And all that Samuel the Seer, Saul the son of Kish, Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated; and whosoever had dedicated anything, it was under the hand of Shelomith, and of his brethren. ^26:29Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were for the outward business over Israel, for officers and judges. ^26:30And of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brethren, men of valor, one thousand and seven hundred, were officers among them of Israel on this side Jordan westward in all the business of Jehovah, and in the service of the king. ^26:31Among the Hebronites was Jerijah the chief, even among the Hebronites, according to the generations of his fathers. In the fortieth year of the reign of David they were sought; and there were found among them mighty men of valor at Jazer of Gilead. ^26:32And his brethren, men of valor, were two thousand and seven hundred chief fathers, whom king David made rulers over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God, and affairs of the king.

^27:1Now the children of Israel after their number, namely, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the divisions, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course were twenty-four thousand. ^27:2Over the first course for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel; and in his course were twenty- four thousand. ^27:3Of the children of Perez was the chief of all the captains of the army for the first month. ^27:4And over the course of the second month was Dodai an Ahohite, and of his course was also Mikloth the ruler; in his course likewise were twenty-four thousand. ^27:5The third captain of the army for the third month was Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, a chief priest, and in his course were twenty-four thousand ^27:6(this is that same Benaiah, who was mighty among the thirty, and above the thirty), and in his course was Ammizabad his son. ^27:7The fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him, and in his course were twenty-four thousand. ^27:8The fifth captain for the fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite, and in his course were twenty-four thousand. ^27:9The sixth captain for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, and in his course were twenty-four thousand. ^27:10The seventh captain for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim, and in his course were twenty-four thousand. ^27:11The eighth captain for the eighth month was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zarhites, and in his course were twenty-four thousand. ^27:12The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anetothite, of the Benjamites, and in his course were twenty-four thousand. ^27:13The tenth captain for the tenth month was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zarhites, and in his course were twenty-four thousand. ^27:14The eleventh captain for the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim, and in his course were twenty-four thousand. ^27:15The twelfth captain for the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel, and in his course were twenty-four thousand.

^27:16Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: the ruler of the Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri; of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maachah; ^27:17of the Levites, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel; of the Aaronites, Zadok; ^27:18of Judah, Elihu, one of the brethren of David; of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael; ^27:19of Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah; of Naphtali, Jerimoth the son of Azriel; ^27:20of the children of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Azaziah; ^27:21of the half tribe of Manasseh, Joel the son of Pedaiah; of the half tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah; of Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner; ^27:22of Dan, Azareel the son of Jeroham. These were the princes of the tribes of Israel. ^27:23But David did not take the number of them from twenty years old and under, because Jehovah had said he would increase Israel like the stars of the heavens. ^27:24Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he did not finish, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David.

^27:25And over the king’s treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel; and over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles, was Jehonathan the son of Uzziah. ^27:26And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub; ^27:27and over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite; over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite; ^27:28and over the olive trees and the sycamore trees that were in the low plains was Baal-hanan the Gederite; and over the cellars of oil was Joash. And over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite; ^27:29and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai; ^27:30over the camels also was Obil the Ishmaelite; and over the donkeys was Jehdeiah the Meronothite; ^27:31and over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagerite.

All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David’s.

^27:32Also Jonathan, David’s uncle, was an advisor, a wise man, and a scribe; and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king’s sons; ^27:33and Ahithophel was the king’s advisor; and Hushai the Archite was the king’s companion; ^27:34and after Ahithophel died was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar; and the general of the king’s army was Joab.

^28:1And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by turn, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the valiant men, to Jerusalem.

^28:2Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, “Hear me, my brethren, and my people: as for me, I had in my heart to build a House of rest for the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah, and for the footstool of our God; and I had made ready for the building; ^28:3but God said to me, ‘You shall not build a House for my Name, because you have been a man of war, and have shed blood.’

^28:4“Nevertheless Jehovah God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel forever: for he has chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel. ^28:5And of all my sons (for Jehovah has given me many sons), he has chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of Jehovah over Israel. ^28:6And he said to me, ‘Solomon your son, he shall build my House and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father. ^28:7Moreover I will establish his kingdom forever, if he is steadfast to do my Commandments and my Judgments, as at this day.’”

^28:8“Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of Jehovah, and in the audience of our God, keep and seek for all the Commandments of Jehovah your God, that you may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you forever.

^28:9“And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind: for Jehovah searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever. ^28:10Take heed now: for Jehovah has chosen you to build a House for the Sanctuary; therefore be strong, and do it.”

¶Complement   David encouraged Solomon his son to build the Temple of Jehovah (1 Chronicles 28:9 - 21)

^28:11Then David gave to Solomon his son the design of the porch, and of its houses, and of its treasuries, and of its upper chambers, and of its inner parlors, and of the place of the mercy seat; ^28:12and the pattern of all that he had by the Holy Spirit, of the courts of the House of Jehovah, and of all the chambers round about, of the treasuries of the House of God, and of the treasuries of the dedicated things; ^28:13also for the divisions of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the House of Jehovah, and for all the vessels of service in the House of Jehovah.

^28:14He gave of gold by weight for things of gold, for all instruments of all manner of service; silver also for all instruments of silver by weight, for all instruments of every kind of service: ^28:15even the weight for the candlesticks of gold, and for their lamps of gold, by weight for every candlestick and for its lamps; and for the candlesticks of silver by weight, both for the candlestick, and also for its lamps, according to the use of every candlestick. ^28:16And by weight he gave gold for the tables of showbread, for every table; and likewise silver for the tables of silver; ^28:17also pure gold for the flesh hooks, and the bowls, and the cups. And for the golden basins he gave gold by weight for every basin; and likewise silver by weight for every basin of silver. ^28:18And for the altar of incense he gave refined gold by weight; and gold for the pattern of the chariot of the cherubims, that spread out their wings, and covered the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah.

^28:19And David said, “All this Jehovah made me understand in writing by his hand upon me: even all the works of this pattern.”

^28:20And David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; fear not, nor be dismayed: for Jehovah God, even my God, will be with you; he will not fail you, nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the House of Jehovah.

^28:21“And, behold, the divisions of the priests and the Levites: they also shall be with you for all the service of the House of God; and every willing skillful man shall be with you for all manner of workmanship, for any manner of service; also the princes and all the people will be wholly at your command.”

¶Unique   David encouraged the congregation of Israel’s leaders to help Solomon build the Temple with offerings and their support (1 Chronicles 29:1 - 9)

^29:1Furthermore David the king said to all the congregation, “Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is still young and inexperienced.

“And the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for Jehovah God.”

^29:2“Now I have prepared with all my might for the House of my God the gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the bronze for things of bronze, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, stones of pigment, and of diverse colors, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.

^29:3“Moreover, because I have set my affection to the House of my God, I have of my own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the House of my God (over and above all that I have prepared for the holy House) ^29:4three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses: ^29:5the gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day to Jehovah?”

^29:6Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king’s work, offered willingly; ^29:7and they gave for the service of the House of God five thousand talents and ten thousand drams of gold, and ten thousand talents of silver, and eighteen thousand talents of bronze, and one hundred thousand talents of iron. ^29:8And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the House of Jehovah, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. ^29:9Then the people rejoiced, for they offered willingly; because with a loyal heart they offered willingly to Jehovah; and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

Yours is the kingdom, O Jehovah, and you are exalted as head above all. ^29:12Both riches and honor come of you, and you are reigning over all; and in your hand is power and might; and it is in your hand to make great, and to give strength to all. ^29:13Now therefore, our God, we thank you, and praise your glorious Name.

^29:14“But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? For all things come of you, and of your own have we given you: ^29:15for we are strangers before you, and sojourners, as were all our fathers; our days on the earth are as a shadow, and nothing remains.”

^29:16“O Jehovah our God, all this store that we have prepared to build you a House for your holy Name comes of your hand, and is all your own. ^29:17I know also, my God, that you test the heart, and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things; and now have I seen with joy your people, which are present here, to offer willingly to you.

^29:18“O Jehovah God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of your people, and prepare their heart for you; ^29:19and give to Solomon my son a loyal heart, to keep your Commandments, your Testimonies, and your Statutes; and to do all these things, and to build the Temple, for which I have made provision.”

^29:20And David said to all the congregation, “Now bless Jehovah your God.” And all the congregation blessed Jehovah God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped Jehovah; and also the king worshipped. ^29:21And they sacrificed sacrifices to Jehovah, and offered burnt offerings to Jehovah (on the next day after that day): a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel; ^29:22and they ate and drank before Jehovah on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him unto Jehovah to be the chief governor, and Zadok to be priest.

^29:23Then Solomon sat on the throne of Jehovah as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him. ^29:24And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves to Solomon the king.

^29:25And Jehovah magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel; and he bestowed upon him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.

^29:26Thus David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel; ^29:27and the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years: he reigned seven years in Hebron, and he reigned thirty-three years in Jerusalem.

^29:28And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor; and Solomon his son reigned in his place.

^29:29Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the Seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the Seer, ^29:30with all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.

^22:5Y dijo David, “Salomón mi hijo es muchacho y inexperto, y la Casa que se ha de edificar a Jehová ha de ser magnífica por excelencia, para nombre y honra en todas las naciones; ahora, pues, yo le prepararé lo necesario”.

Y David antes de su muerte hizo grandes preparativos.

^22:15“Además, tú tienes contigo muchos obreros, canteros, albañiles, y carpinteros, y todo hombre experto en toda obra. ^22:16Del oro, de la plata, del bronce, y del hierro, no hay número. Levántate, pues, y manos a la obra, y Jehová sea contigo”.

^22:17Asimismo mandó David a todos los principales de Israel que diesen ayuda a Salomón su hijo, diciendo, ^22:18“¿No está con ustedes Jehová vuestro Dios, el cual os ha dado reposo por todas partes? Porque él ha entregado en mi mano a los moradores de la tierra, y la tierra ha sido sujetada delante de Jehová, y delante de su pueblo. ^22:19Poned, pues, ahora vuestros corazones y vuestros ánimos en buscar a Jehová vuestro Dios. Éstos fueron los príncipes de las familias de Laadán. ^23:10Y los hijos de Simeí: Jahat, Zinat, Jeús y Bería. Estos cuatro fueron los hijos de Simeí. ^23:11Jahat era el primero, Zinat el segundo; pero Jeús y Bería no tuvieron muchos hijos, por lo cual fueron contados por una familia. ^23:12Los hijos de Coat: Amram, Izhar, Hebrón, y Uziel, ellos cuatro. ^23:13Los hijos de Amram: Aarón y Moisés. ^24:1Éstos son los grupos de los hijos de Aarón. Los hijos de Aarón: Nadab, Abiú, Eleazar e Itamar. ^24:2Pero Nadab y Abiú murieron antes que su padre, y no tuvieron hijos; por lo cual Eleazar e Itamar ejercieron el sacerdocio. ^24:3Y David los repartió según la función de ellos en su ministerio, siendo Sadoc de los hijos de Eleazar, y Ahimelec de los hijos de Itamar. ^24:4Y de los hijos de Eleazar fueron hallados más varones principales que de los hijos de Itamar; y los repartieron así: De los hijos de Eleazar había dieciséis cabezas de familias paternas; y de los hijos de Itamar por las familias de sus padres, ocho. ^24:5Los repartieron, pues, por suerte los unos con los otros: porque de los hijos de Eleazar y de los hijos de Itamar hubo príncipes del santuario, y príncipes de la Casa de Dios. ^24:6Y Semaías escriba, hijo de Natanael, de los levitas, los escribió delante del rey y de los príncipes, y delante de Sadoc el sacerdote, y de Ahimelec hijo de Abiatar, y de los príncipes de las familias de los sacerdotes y levitas, asignaban una familia para Eleazar, y otra para Itamar. ^24:7Y la primera suerte tocó a Joiarib, la segunda a Jedaías; ^24:8la tercera a Harim, la cuarta a Seorim; ^24:9la quinta a Malquías, la sexta a Miamín; ^24:10la séptima a Cos, la octava a Abías; ^24:11la novena a Jesúa, la décima a Secanías; ^24:12la undécima a Eliasib, la duodécima a Jacim; ^24:13la decimatercera a Upa, la decimacuarta a Isebeab; ^24:14la decimaquinta a Bilga, la decimasexta a Imer; ^24:15la decimaséptima a Hezir, la decimaoctava a Afses; ^24:16la decimanovena Petaías, la vigésima por Hezequiel; ^24:17la vigesimaprimera a Jaquín, la vigesimasegunda a Hamul; ^24:18la vigesimatercera a Delaías, la vigesimacuarta a Maazías. ^24:19Éste fue el orden para ellos en su ministerio, para que entrasen en la Casa de Jehová, conforme a su ordenanza, bajo el mando de Aarón su padre, de la manera que le había mandado Jehová el Dios de Israel. ^24:20Y de los hijos de Leví que quedaron: Subael, de los hijos de Amram; y de los hijos de Subael, Jehedías. ^24:21Y de los hijos de Rehabía, Isías el principal. ^24:22De los izharitas, Selemot; e hijo de Selemot, Jahat. ^24:23Y de los hijos de Hebrón; Jerías el primero, el segundo Amarías, el tercero Jahaziel, el cuarto Jecamán. ^24:24Hijo de Uziel, Micaía; e hijo de Micaía, Samir. ^24:25Hermano de Micaía, Isías; e hijo de Isías, Zacarías. ^24:26Los hijos de Merari: Mahali y Musi; hijo de Jaazía, Beno. ^24:27Los hijos de Merari por Jaazía: Beno, y Soam, Zacur e Ibri. ^24:28Y de Mahali, Eleazar, el cual no tuvo hijos. ^24:29Hijo de Cis, Jerameel. ^24:30Los hijos de Musi: Mahali, Eder y Jerimot. Éstos fueron los hijos de los levitas conforme a las casas de sus familias. ^24:31Éstos también echaron suertes, como sus hermanos los hijos de Aarón, delante del rey David, y de Sadoc y de Ahimelec, y de los príncipes de las familias de los sacerdotes y levitas; el principal de los padres igualmente que el menor de sus hermanos.

^25:1Asimismo David y los príncipes del ejército apartaron para el ministerio a los hijos de Asaf, y de Hemán, y de Jedutún, para que profetizasen con arpas, salterios, y címbalos; y el número de ellos, hombres idóneos para la obra de su ministerio respectivo fue: ^25:2de los hijos de Asaf: Zacur, José, Netanías y Asareela, hijos de Asaf, bajo la dirección de Asaf, el cual profetizaba a la orden del rey. ^25:3De Jedutún: los hijos de Jedutún, Gedalías, Zeri, Jesahías, Hasabías, Matatías y Simeí; seis, bajo la mano de su padre Jedutún, el cual profetizaba con arpa, para dar gracias y alabar a Jehová. ^25:4De Hemán: los hijos de Hemán, Buquía, Matanías, Uziel, Sebuel, Jerimot, Hananías, Hanani, Eliata, Gidalti, Romamti-ezer, Josbecasa, Maloti, Otir y Mahaziot. ^25:5Todos éstos fueron hijos de Hemán, vidente del rey en palabras de Dios, para exaltar su poder: y dio Dios a Hemán catorce hijos y tres hijas. ^25:6Y todos éstos estaban bajo la dirección de su padre en la música, en la Casa de Jehová, con címbalos, salterios y arpas, para el ministerio del templo de Dios, por disposición del rey acerca de Asaf, de Jedutún, y de Hemán. ^25:7Y el número de ellos con sus hermanos instruidos en música de Jehová, todos los aptos, fue doscientos ochenta y ocho. ^25:8Y echaron suertes para los turnos del servicio, entrando el pequeño con el grande, lo mismo el maestro que el discípulo. ^25:9Y la primera suerte tocó por Asaf, a José: la segunda a Gedalías, quien con sus hermanos e hijos fueron doce; ^25:10la tercera a Zacur, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:11la cuarta a Isri, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:12la quinta a Netanías, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:13la sexta a Buquía, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:14la séptima a Jesarela, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:15la octava a Jesahías, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:16la novena a Matanías, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:17la décima a Simeí, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:18la undécima a Azareel, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:19la duodécima a Hasabías, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:20la decimatercera a Subael, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:21la decimacuarta a Matatías, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:22la decimaquinta a Jerimot, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:23la decimasexta a Hananías, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:24la decimaséptima a Josbecasa, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:25la decimaoctava a Hanani, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:26la decimanovena a Maloti, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:27la vigésima a Eliata, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:28la vigesimaprimera a Otir, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:29la vigesimasegunda a Gidalti, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:30la vigesimatercera a Mahaziot, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce; ^25:31la vigesimacuarta a Romamti-ezer, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, doce.

^26:1En cuanto a la distribución de los porteros: De los coreítas; Meselemías hijo de Coré, de los hijos de Asaf. ^26:2Los hijos de Meselemías: Zacarías el primogénito, Jediael el segundo, Zebadías el tercero, Jatnael el cuarto; ^26:3Elam el quinto, Johanán el sexto, Elioenai el séptimo. ^26:4Los hijos de Obed-edom: Semaías el primogénito, Jozabad el segundo, Joah el tercero, el cuarto Sacar, el quinto Natanael; ^26:5el sexto Amiel, el séptimo Isacar, el octavo Peultai: porque Dios había bendecido a Obed-edom. ^26:6También de Semaías su hijo nacieron hijos que fueron señores sobre la casa de sus padres: porque eran varones muy valerosos. ^26:7Los hijos de Semaías: Otni, Rafael, Obed, Elzabad, y sus hermanos, hombres esforzados; asimismo Eliú, y Samaquías. ^26:8Todos éstos de los hijos de Obed-edom; ellos con sus hijos y sus hermanos, hombres robustos y fuertes para el ministerio; sesenta y dos, de Obed-edom. ^26:9Y los hijos de Meselemías y sus hermanos, dieciocho hombres valientes. ^26:10De Hosa, de los hijos de Merari: Simri el principal (aunque no era el primogénito, pero su padre lo hizo el jefe), ^26:11el segundo Hilcías, el tercero Tebelías, el cuarto Zacarías; todos los hijos de Hosa y sus hermanos fueron trece. ^26:12Entre éstos se hizo la distribución de los porteros, alternando los principales de los varones en la guardia con sus hermanos, para servir en la Casa de Jehová. ^26:13Y echaron suertes, el pequeño con el grande, por las casas de sus padres, para cada puerta. ^26:14Y cayó la suerte al oriente a Selemías. Y a Zacarías su hijo, consejero entendido, metieron en las suertes; y salió la suerte suya al norte. ^26:15Y a Obed-edom, al sur; y a sus hijos, la casa de las provisiones. ^26:16A Supim y Hosa al occidente, con la puerta de Salequet al camino de la subida, guardia contra guardia. ^26:17Al oriente seis levitas, al norte cuatro de día; al sur cuatro de día; y a la casa de provisiones, de dos en dos. ^26:18En Pabor al occidente, había cuatro en el camino, y dos en Pabor. ^26:19Éstos son los repartimientos de los porteros, hijos de los coreítas, y de los hijos de Merari. ^26:20Y de los levitas, Ahías tenía cargo de los tesoros de la Casa de Dios, y de los tesoros de las cosas santificadas. ^26:21Cuanto a los hijos de Laadán, hijos de Gersón; de Laadán, los príncipes de las familias de Laadán fueron Gersón y Jehieli. ^26:22Los hijos de Jehieli, Zetam y Joel su hermano, tuvieron cargo de los tesoros de la Casa de Jehová. ^26:23Acerca de los amramitas, de los izharitas, de los hebronitas, y de los uzielitas: ^26:24Sebuel hijo de Gersón, hijo de Moisés, era principal sobre los tesoros. ^26:25En orden a su hermano Eliezer, hijo de éste era Rehabía, hijo de éste Jesahías, hijo de éste Joram, hijo de éste Zicri, del que fue hijo Selomit. ^26:26Este Selomit y sus hermanos tenían cargo de todos los tesoros de todas las cosas santificadas, que había consagrado el rey David, y los príncipes de las familias, y los capitanes de millares y de centenas, y los jefes del ejército; ^26:27de lo que habían consagrado de las guerras, y de los botines, para reparar la Casa de Jehová. ^26:28Asimismo todas las cosas que había consagrado Samuel vidente, y Saúl hijo de Cis, y Abner hijo de Ner, y Joab hijo de Sarvia; y todo lo que cualquiera consagraba, estaba bajo la mano de Selomit y de sus hermanos. ^26:29De los izharitas, Quenanías y sus hijos eran gobernadores y jueces sobre Israel en las obras de fuera. ^26:30De los hebronitas, Hasabías y sus hermanos, hombres de vigor, mil setecientos, gobernaban a Israel al otro lado del Jordán, al occidente, en toda la obra de Jehová, y en el servicio del rey. ^26:31De los hebronitas, Jerías era el principal entre los hebronitas repartidos en sus linajes por sus familias. En el año cuarenta del reinado de David se registraron, y se hallaron entre ellos fuertes y vigorosos en Jazer de Galaad. ^26:32Y sus hermanos, hombres valientes, eran dos mil setecientos, cabezas de familias, los cuales el rey David constituyó sobre los rubenitas, gaditas, y sobre la media tribu de Manasés, para todas las cosas de Dios, y los negocios del rey.

¶Lo opuesto   David reorganizó el gobierno de Israel para servir a un nuevo y más poderoso gobierno central (1 Crónicas 27:1 - 34)

^27:1Y los hijos de Israel según su número, es decir, príncipes de familias, jefes de millares y de centenas, y oficiales de los que servían al rey en todos los negocios de las divisiones que entraban y salían cada mes en todos los meses del año, eran en cada división veinticuatro mil. ^27:2Sobre la primera división del primer mes estaba Jasobam hijo de Zabdiel; y había en su división veinticuatro mil. ^27:3De los hijos de Fares era el jefe de todos los capitanes de las compañías del primer mes. ^27:4Sobre la división del segundo mes estaba Dodai ahohíta; y Miclot era jefe en su división, en la que también había veinticuatro mil. ^27:5El jefe de la tercera división para el tercer mes era Benaía, hijo de Joiada el sumo sacerdote; y en su división había veinticuatro mil. ^27:6Este Benaía era valiente entre los treinta y sobre los treinta; y en su división estaba Amisabad su hijo. ^27:7El cuarto jefe para el cuarto mes era Asael hermano de Joab, y después de él Zebadías su hijo; y en su división había veinticuatro mil. ^27:8El quinto jefe para el quinto mes era Samhut izrita; y en su división había veinticuatro mil. ^27:9El sexto para el sexto mes era Ira hijo de Iques, de Tecoa; y en su división veinticuatro mil. ^27:10El séptimo para el séptimo mes era Heles pelonita, de los hijos de Efraín; y en su división veinticuatro mil. ^27:11El octavo para el octavo mes era Sibecai husatita, de los zeraítas; y en su división veinticuatro mil. ^27:12El noveno para el noveno mes era Abiezer anatotita, de los benjamitas; y en su división veinticuatro mil. ^27:13El décimo para el décimo mes era Maharai netofatita, de los zeraítas; y en su división veinticuatro mil. ^27:14El undécimo para el undécimo mes era Benaía piratonita, de los hijos de Efraín; y en su división veinticuatro mil. ^27:15El duodécimo para el duodécimo mes era Heldai netofatita, de Otoniel; y en su división veinticuatro mil.

^27:16Asimismo sobre las tribus de Israel; el jefe de los rubenitas era Eliezer hijo de Zicri; de los simeonitas, Sefatías, hijo de Maaca: ^27:17de los levitas, Hasabías hijo de Quemuel; de los aaronitas, Sadoc; ^27:18de Judá, Eliú, uno de los hermanos de David; de los de Isacar, Omri hijo de Micael; ^27:19de los de Zabulón, Ismaías hijo de Abdías; de los de Neftalí, Jerimot hijo de Azriel; ^27:20de los hijos de Efraín, Oseas hijo de Azazías; de la media tribu de Manasés, Joel hijo de Pedaías; ^27:21de la otra media tribu de Manasés en Galaad, Iddo hijo de Zacarías; de los de Benjamín, Jasiel hijo de Abner; ^27:22y de Dan, Azareel hijo de Jeroham. Éstos fueron los jefes de las tribus de Israel. ^27:23Y no tomó David el número de los que eran de veinte años abajo, por cuanto Jehová había dicho que él había de multiplicar a Israel como las estrellas del cielo. ^27:24Joab hijo de Sarvia había comenzado a contar, pero no acabó, pues por esto vino la ira sobre Israel; y así el número no fue puesto en el registro de las crónicas del rey David.

^27:25Y Azmavet hijo de Adiel tenía a su cargo los tesoros del rey; y de los tesoros de los campos, y de las ciudades, y de las aldeas y castillos, Jonatán hijo de Uzías. ^27:26Y de los que trabajaban en la labranza de las tierras, Ezri hijo de Quelub. Y de las viñas Simeí ramatita; y del fruto de las viñas para las bodegas, Zabdi sifmita. ^27:28Y de los olivares y de los sicómoros del valle, Baal-hanán gederita; y de los almacenes del aceite, Joás. ^27:29De las vacas que pastaban en Sarón, Sitrai saronita; y de las vacas que estaban en los valles, Safat hijo de Adlai. ^27:30Y de los camellos, Obil ismaelita; y de las asnas, Jehedías meronotita; ^27:31y de las ovejas, Jaziz agareno.

Todos éstos eran superintendentes de la hacienda del rey David.

^27:32Jonatán, tío de David, era consejero, varón prudente y escriba; y Jehiel hijo de Hacmoni estaba con los hijos del rey. ^27:33Y también Ahitofel era consejero del rey; y Husai arquita amigo del rey. ^27:34Después de Ahitofel era Joiada hijo de Benaía, y Abiatar. Y Joab era el general del ejército del rey.

¶El complemento   David le explicó a la gente por qué no podía construir el Templo de Jehová (1 Crónicas 28:1 - 10)

^28:1Y reunió David en Jerusalén a todos los principales de Israel, los príncipes de las tribus, y los jefes de las divisiones que servían al rey, los jefes de millares y de centenas, con los superintendentes de toda la hacienda y posesión del rey, y sus hijos, con los oficiales, los poderosos, y todos sus hombres valientes.

^28:2Y levantándose el rey David, puesto en pie dijo, “Oídme, hermanos míos, y pueblo mío. Yo tenía en propósito edificar una Casa, para que en ella reposara el Arca del Pacto de Jehová, y para el estrado de los pies de nuestro Dios; y había ya aprestado todo para edificar. ^28:3Pero Dios me dijo, ‘Tú no edificarás Casa a mi Nombre: porque eres hombre de guerra, y has derramado sangre’.

^28:4“Sin embargo, Jehová el Dios de Israel me eligió de toda la casa de mi padre, para que perpetuamente fuese rey sobre Israel: porque a Judá escogió por caudillo, y de la casa de Judá la familia de mi padre; y de entre los hijos de mi padre se agradó de mí para ponerme por rey sobre todo Israel. ^28:5Y de todos mis hijos (porque Jehová me ha dado muchos hijos), eligió a mi hijo Salomón para que se siente en el trono del reino de Jehová sobre Israel. ^28:6Y me ha dicho, ‘Salomón tu hijo, él edificará mi Casa y mis atrios: porque a él he escogido por hijo, y yo le seré por Padre. ^28:7Asimismo yo confirmaré su reino para siempre, si él se esforzare a poner por obra mis Mandamientos y mis Juicios, como este día’”.

^28:8“Ahora, pues, delante de los ojos de todo Israel, congregación de Jehová, y en oídos de nuestro Dios, guardad e inquirid todos los preceptos de Jehová vuestro Dios, para que poseáis la buena tierra, y la dejéis por heredad a vuestros hijos después de ustedes perpetuamente.

^28:9“Y tú, Salomón, hijo mío, conoce al Dios de tu padre, y sírvele con corazón perfecto, y con ánimo voluntario: porque Jehová escudriña los corazones de todos, y entiende toda imaginación de los pensamientos. Si tú le buscares, lo hallarás; pero si lo dejares, él te desechará para siempre. ^28:10Mira, pues, ahora que Jehová te ha elegido para que edifiques Casa para Santuario; esfuérzate, y hazla”.

¶El complemento   David animó a su hijo Salomón a construir el Templo de Jehová (1 Crónicas 28:11 - 21)

^28:11Entonces David dio a Salomón su hijo el diseño del pórtico, de sus casas, sus tesorerías, sus aposentos, sus cámaras y del lugar del propiciatorio. ^28:12Asimismo el diseño de todas las cosas que él tenía por el Espíritu para los atrios de la Casa de Jehová, y para todas las cámaras en derredor, para los tesoros de la Casa de Dios, y para los tesoros de las cosas santificadas; ^28:13también para los grupos de los sacerdotes y de los levitas, y para toda la obra del ministerio de la Casa de Jehová, y para todos los vasos del ministerio de la Casa de Jehová.

^28:14Y dio oro por peso para lo de oro, para todos los utensilios de cada servicio; y plata por peso para todos los utensilios, para todos los utensilios de cada servicio. ^28:15Oro por peso para los candeleros de oro, y para sus candilejas; por peso el oro para cada candelero y sus candilejas; y para los candeleros de plata, plata por peso para el candelero y sus candilejas, conforme al servicio de cada candelero. ^28:16Asimismo dio oro por peso para las mesas de la proposición, para cada mesa; del mismo modo plata para las mesas de plata. ^28:17También oro puro para los garfios, para los tazones, para las copas y para las tazas de oro, para cada tazón por peso; y para las tazas de plata, por peso para cada taza; ^28:18además, oro puro por peso para el altar del incienso, para el diseño del carruaje de los querubines de oro que con las alas extendidas cubrían el Arca del Pacto de Jehová.

^28:19Y David dijo: “Todas esto, Jehová me hizo comprender por escrito por su mano sobre mí: incluso todas las obras de este diseño”.

^28:20Dijo más David a Salomón su hijo, “Esfuérzate y sé valiente, y ponlo por obra; no temas, ni desmayes: porque Jehová Dios, mi Dios, estará contigo; él no te dejará, ni te desamparará, hasta que acabes toda la obra para el servicio de la Casa de Jehová.

^28:21“He aquí los grupos de los sacerdotes y de los levitas para todo el ministerio de la Casa de Dios estarán contigo en toda la obra; asimismo todos los voluntarios e inteligentes para toda forma de servicio; y los príncipes, y todo el pueblo para ejecutar todas tus órdenes”.

¶Único   David animó a la congregación a ayudar a Salomón a construir el Templo (1 Crónicas 29:1 - 9)

^29:1Después dijo el rey David a toda la congregación, “Sólo a Salomón mi hijo ha elegido Dios; él es joven y inexperto.

“Y la obra es grande: porque el Palacio no es para hombre, sino para Jehová Dios”.

^29:2“Ahora yo con todas mis fuerzas he preparado para la Casa de mi Dios, oro para las cosas de oro, y plata para las de plata, y bronce para las de bronce, y hierro para las de hierro, y madera para las de madera, y piedras de ónice, y piedras preciosas, y piedras negras, y piedras de diversos colores, y toda clase de piedras preciosas, y piedras de mármol en abundancia.

^29:3“A más de esto, por cuanto tengo mi afecto en la Casa de mi Dios, yo guardo en mi tesoro particular oro y plata que he dado para la Casa de mi Dios, además de todas las cosas que he preparado para la Casa del Santuario; ^29:4es decir, tres mil talentos de oro, de oro de Ofir, y siete mil talentos de plata refinada para cubrir las paredes de las casas. ^29:5Oro, pues, para las cosas de oro, y plata para las de plata, y para toda la obra de manos de los artífices. ¿Y quién quiere hacer hoy ofrenda voluntaria a Jehová?”.

^29:6Entonces los príncipes de las familias, y los príncipes de las tribus de Israel, jefes de millares y de centenas, con los superintendentes de la hacienda del rey, ofrecieron voluntariamente; ^29:7y dieron para el servicio de la Casa de Dios cinco mil talentos y diez mil dracmas de oro, y diez mil talentos de plata, y dieciocho mil talentos de bronce, y cinco mil talentos de hierro. ^29:8Y todo el que se halló con piedras preciosas, las dio para el tesoro de la Casa de Jehová, en mano de Jehiel gersonita. ^29:9Y se gozó el pueblo de haber contribuido voluntariamente: porque de todo corazón ofrecieron a Jehová voluntariamente; asimismo se gozó mucho el rey David.

§El complemento   Conclusión: El rey David oficialmente transfirió el Reino a su hijo Salomón y murió (1 Crónicas 29:10 - 30)

¶El complemento   David elogió a Jehová ante toda la congregación antes de transferir el reino a Salomón (1 Crónicas 29:10 - 22)

^29:10Y bendijo a Jehová delante de toda la congregación; y dijo David, “Bendito seas tú, oh Jehová, Dios de Israel nuestro padre, desde la eternidad y hasta la eternidad. ^29:11Tuya es, oh Jehová, la magnificencia, y el poder, y la gloria, la victoria, y el honor: porque todas las cosas que están en los Cielo y en la tierra son tuyas. Tuyo, oh Jehová, es el reino, y tú eres exaltado por cabeza sobre todos. ^29:12Las riquezas y el honor proceden de ti, y tú reinas sobre todo; en tu mano está el poder y la fortaleza, y en tu mano el engrandecer y dar fortaleza a todos. ^29:13Ahora pues, Dios nuestro, nosotros te damos gracias, y alabamos tu glorioso Nombre.

^29:14“¿Pero quién soy yo, y quién es mi pueblo, para que pudiésemos ofrecer de nuestra voluntad cosas semejantes? Porque todo es tuyo, y lo recibido de tu mano te damos: ^29:15porque nosotros, extranjeros y advenedizos somos delante de ti, como todos nuestros padres; y nuestros días cual sombra sobre la tierra, y nadie permanece”.

^29:16“Oh Jehová Dios nuestro, toda esta abundancia que hemos aprestado para edificar Casa a tu santo Nombre, de tu mano es, y todo es tuyo. ^29:17Yo sé, Dios mío, que tú escudriñas los corazones, y que la rectitud te agrada; por eso yo con rectitud de mi corazón voluntariamente te he ofrecido todo esto, y ahora he visto con alegría que tu pueblo, que aquí se ha hallado ahora, ha dado para ti espontáneamente.

^29:18“Jehová, Dios de Abraham, de Isaac, y de Israel, nuestros padres; conserva perpetuamente esta voluntad del corazón de tu pueblo, y encamina su corazón a ti. ^29:19Asimismo da a mi hijo Salomón corazón perfecto, para que guarde tus mandamientos, y tus testimonios y tus estatutos, y para que haga todas las cosas, y te edifique la Casa para la cual yo he hecho preparativos”.

^29:20Después dijo David a toda la congregación, “Bendecid ahora a Jehová vuestro Dios”. Entonces toda la congregación bendijo a Jehová Dios de sus padres, e inclinándose adoraron delante de Jehová, y del rey. ^29:21Y ofrecieron sacrificios a Jehová, y ofrecieron a Jehová holocaustos el día siguiente, mil becerros, mil carneros, mil corderos con sus libaciones, y muchos sacrificios por todo Israel. ^29:22Y comieron y bebieron delante de Jehová aquel día con gran gozo; y dieron la segunda vez la investidura del reino a Salomón hijo de David, y lo ungieron a Jehová por príncipe, y a Sadoc por sacerdote.

¶El complemento   David murió con gran honor y alabanza de Israel (1 Crónicas 29:23 - 30)

^29:23Y se sentó Salomón por rey en el trono de Jehová en lugar de David su padre, y fue prosperado; y le obedeció todo Israel. ^29:24Y todos los príncipes y poderosos, y todos los hijos del rey David, prestaron homenaje al rey Salomón.

^29:25Y Jehová engrandeció en extremo a Salomón a los ojos de todo Israel, y le dio gloria del reino, cual ningún rey la tuvo antes de él en Israel.

^29:26Así reinó David hijo de Isaí sobre todo Israel. ^29:27Y el tiempo que reinó sobre Israel fue cuarenta años. Siete años reinó en Hebrón, y treinta y tres reinó en Jerusalén.

^29:28Y murió en buena vejez, lleno de días, de riquezas, y de gloria. Y reinó en su lugar Salomón su hijo.

^29:29Y los hechos del rey David, primeros y postreros, están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de Samuel vidente, y en las crónicas del Profeta Natán, y en las crónicas de Gad vidente, ^29:30con todo lo relativo a su reinado y su poder, y los tiempos que pasaron sobre él, y sobre Israel, y sobre todos los reinos de aquellas tierras.
