Post-exile Temples, Chapter 2.5 (Revelation): The New Heaven and New Earth (21:1 - 22:21)

Introduction: The former things will pass away forever (21:1 - 8)

¶Opposite   God will destroy the Old Heaven and Earth and create a New Heaven and a New Earth (21:1 - 4)

¶Opposite   God the Father will bless his children and punish his enemies (21:5 - 8)

Body: The Saved and the Lost will be separated forever from each other in the New Heaven and New Earth (21:9 - 22:15)

^21:3And I heard a great voice out of Heaven saying, “Behold, the Tabernacle of God is with men; and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people; and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

^21:4“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; neither sorrow, nor crying; neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things have passed away.”

^21:5And he that sat upon the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.”

And he said to me, “Write: for these words are true and faithful.”

^21:6And he said to me, “It is finished; I am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End.

“I will give to him that is thirsty of the fountain of the water of Life freely. ^21:7He that overcomes shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

^21:8“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and witches, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the Lake burning with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

^21:10And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of Heaven from God, ^21:11having the glory of God; and her light was like a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.

^21:12And it had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates were twelve angels, and names written on it, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: ^21:13on the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates. ^21:14And the wall of the city had twelve foundations; and in them the names of the twelve Apostles of the Lamb.

^21:15And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and its gates, and its wall. ^21:16And the city lies foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth; and he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand stadia. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.

^21:17And he measured its wall, one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

¶Opposite   The construction materials of the City of God, the New Jerusalem (21:18 - 21)

^21:18And the building of its wall was of jasper;

and the city was pure gold, like clear glass.

^21:19And the foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, a sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; ^21:20the fifth, a sardonyx; the sixth, a sardius; the seventh, a chrysolite; the eighth, a beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.

^21:21And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: each one of the gates was made out of a single pearl.

And the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

¶Complement   The spiritual Life, Light, and Temple of the New Jerusalem will be the Lamb of God Himself (21:22 - 27)

^21:22And I saw no Temple in it: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its Temple.

^21:23And the city had no need of the sun; neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God illuminated it, and the Lamb is its light. ^21:24And the nations of them that are saved shall walk in its light; and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.

^21:25And its gates shall never be shut by day: for there shall be no night there; ^21:26and they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.

^21:27And there shall never enter into it anything that defiles; neither whatsoever works abomination, or makes a lie;

but only they who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

¶Complement   The River and Tree of Life will feed and heal the nations forever and ever (22:1 - 5)

^22:1And he showed me a pure river of water of Life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

^22:2In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was the tree of Life, which bore twelve kinds of fruit, and yielded her fruit every month;

and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

^22:3And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him. ^22:4And they shall see his face; and his Name shall be in their foreheads.

^22:5And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle; neither light of the sun: for the Lord God gives them light; and they shall reign into the Ages of the Ages.

¶Unique   Blessed is he that keeps the sayings in Revelation, because the Lord Jesus is coming soon to judge the world (22:6 - 15)

^22:6And he said to me, “These sayings are faithful and true; and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to show to his servants the things which must shortly be done. ^22:7Behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is he that keeps the sayings of the prophecy of this Book.”

^22:8And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. ^22:9Then he said to me, “See that you do not worship angels: for I am your fellowservant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of them who keep the sayings of this Book. Worship God only.”

^22:10And he said to me, “Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this Book: for the Time is near. ^22:11He that is unjust, let him be unjust still; and he that is filthy, let him be filthy still. And he that is righteous, let him be righteous still; and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

^22:12“And, behold, I am coming soon; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. ^22:13I am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.

^22:14“Blessed are they that do his Commandments, that they may have right to the Tree of Life; and that they may enter in through the gates into the city: ^22:15for outside are dogs, and witches, and fornicators, and murderers, and idolaters; and whosoever loves and makes a lie.”

§Unique   Conclusion: The Last Call (22:16 - 21)

¶Complement   Come to Jesus now while there is still time to be saved (22:16 - 17)

^22:16“I Jesus have sent my angel to testify these things to you in the Assemblies.

“I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.”

^22:17“And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come.’

“And let him that hears say, ‘Come.’

“And let him that is thirsty come; and whosoever will, let him take the water of Life freely.”

¶Complement   Don’t tamper with the Word of God, because Jesus is coming soon in Judgment (22:18 - 21)

^22:18“For I testify to every man that hears the words of the prophecy of this Book: if any man shall add to these things, God shall add to him the plagues that are written in this Book.

^22:19“And if any man shall take away from the words of the Book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the Book of Life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this Book.”

^22:20“He who testifies these things says, ‘Surely I am coming soon.’”

Amen, even so; come, Lord Jesus.

^21:3Y escuché una gran voz desde el Cielo, diciendo, “He aquí, el Tabernáculo de Dios es con los hombres, y él morará con ellos; y ellos serán su pueblo, y Dios mismo estará con ellos, y será el dios de ellos.

^21:12Y tenía un muro grande y alto, y tenía doce puertas; y a las puertas, doce ángeles, y nombres escritos en ellas, que son los nombres de las doce tribus de los hijos de Israel. ^21:13Al oriente tres puertas; al norte tres puertas; al sur tres puertas; al poniente tres puertas. ^21:14Y el muro de la ciudad tenía doce fundamentos, y en ellos los nombres de los doce Apóstoles del Cordero.

^21:15Y el que hablaba conmigo, tenía una caña de oro para medir la ciudad, y sus puertas, y su muro. ^21:16Y la ciudad está situada y puesta en cuadro, y su longitud es tanta como su anchura; y él midió la ciudad con la caña, doce mil estadios; la longitud y la altura y la anchura de ella son iguales.

^21:17Y midió su muro, ciento cuarenta y cuatro codos de medida de hombre, la cual es de ángel.

¶Lo opuesto   Los materiales de construcción de la Ciudad de Dios, la Nueva Jerusalén (21:18 - 21)

^21:18Y el material de su muro era de jaspe;

y la ciudad era de oro puro, semejante al vidrio limpio.

^21:19Y los fundamentos del muro de la ciudad estaban adornados de toda piedra preciosa. El primer fundamento era jaspe; el segundo, zafiro; el tercero, calcedonia; el cuarto, esmeralda; ^21:20el quinto, ónice; el sexto, sardio; el séptimo, crisólito; el octavo, berilo; el noveno, topacio; el décimo, crisopraso; el undécimo, jacinto; el duodécimo, amatista.

^21:21Y las doce puertas eran doce perlas; cada una de las puertas era de una perla.

Y la plaza de la ciudad era de oro puro, como vidrio transparente.

¶El complemento   La Vida espiritual, la Luz, y el Templo de la Nueva Jerusalén serán el Cordero de Dios mismo (21:22 - 27)

^21:22Y no vi Templo en ella: porque el Señor Dios Todopoderoso y el Cordero son el Templo de ella.

^21:23Y la ciudad no tenía necesidad de sol ni de luna para que resplandezcan en ella: porque la gloria de Dios la iluminaba, y el Cordero es su luz. ^21:24Y las naciones de los que hubieren sido salvados andarán en la luz de ella; y los reyes de la tierra traerán su gloria y honor a ella.

^21:25Y sus puertas nunca serán cerradas por día, porque no habrá noche allí. ^21:26Y traerán la gloria y la honra de las naciones en a ello.

^21:27Y no entrará en ella ninguna cosa inmunda, o que hace abominación o mentira;

sino sólo aquellos que están escritos en el Libro de la Vida del Cordero.

¶El complemento   El Río y el Árbol de la Vida alimentará y sanará a las naciones siempre y para siempre (22:1 - 5)

^22:1Y me mostró un río puro de agua de vida, límpido como el cristal, que provenía del trono de Dios y del Cordero.

^22:2En el medio de la calle de ella, y de uno y de otro lado del río, estaba el árbol de la vida, que lleva doce frutos, dando cada mes su fruto;

y las hojas del árbol eran para la sanidad de las naciones.

^22:3Y no habrá más maldición; y el trono de Dios y del Cordero estará en ella, y sus siervos le servirán; ^22:4y verán su rostro, y su Nombre estará en sus frentes.

^22:5Y allí no habrá más noche; y no tienen necesidad de lámpara, ni de luz de sol: porque el Señor Dios los alumbrará; y reinarán por siempre jamás.

¶Único   Bienaventurado el que guarda las palabras de la revelación, porque el Señor Jesús viene pronto para juzgar al mundo (22:6 - 15)

^22:6Y me dijo, “Estas palabras son fieles y verdaderas. Y el Señor Dios de los santos Profetas ha enviado su ángel, para mostrar a sus siervos las cosas que deben acontecer en breve. ^22:7He aquí, yo vengo pronto. Bienaventurado el que guarda las palabras de la profecía de este Libro”.

^22:8Y yo Juan vi y oí estas cosas. Y después que las hube oído y visto, me postré para adorar a los pies del ángel que me mostraba estas cosas. ^22:9Y él me dijo, “Mira que no lo hagas: porque soy consiervo tuyo, y de tus hermanos los Profetas, y de los que guardan las palabras de este Libro. Adora a Dios solo”.

^22:10Y me dijo, “No selles las palabras de la profecía de este Libro: porque el tiempo está cerca. ^22:11El que es injusto, sea injusto todavía; y el que es sucio, ensúciese todavía; y el que es justo, sea justo todavía; y el que es santo, santifíquese todavía.

^22:12“Y he aquí, yo vengo pronto, y mi galardón conmigo, para recompensar a cada uno según fuere su obra. ^22:13Soy el Alfa y la Omega, el principio y el fin, el primero y el postrero.

^22:14“Bienaventurados los que guardan sus Mandamientos, para tener derecho al árbol de la vida, y poder entrar por las puertas en la ciudad. ^22:15Pero los perros estarán afuera, y los hechiceros, y los disolutos, y los homicidas, y los idólatras, y cualquiera que ama y hace mentira”.

§Único   Conclusión: La última llamada (22:16 - 21)

¶El complemento   Ven a Jesús ahora, mientras todavía hay tiempo para ser salvado (22:16 - 17)

^22:16“Yo Jesús he enviado mi ángel para daros testimonio de estas cosas en las Asambleas.

“Yo soy la raíz y el linaje de David, y la estrella resplandeciente de la mañana”.

^22:17“Y el Espíritu y la esposa dicen, ‘Ven’.

“Y el que oye, diga, ‘Ven’.

“Y el que tiene sed, venga; y el que quiere, tome del agua de la vida gratuitamente”.

^22:18“Porque yo testifico a cualquiera que oye las palabras de la profecía de este Libro, si alguno añadiere a estas cosas, Dios añadirá sobre él las plagas que están escritas en este Libro.

^22:19“Y si alguno quitare de las palabras del Libro de esta profecía, Dios quitará su parte del Libro de la Vida, y de la santa ciudad, y de las cosas que están escritas en este Libro”.

^22:20“El que da testimonio de estas cosas, dice, ‘Ciertamente vengo en breve’”.
