Joshua & Judges, Chapter 1.4: The junior tribes of Israel received their inheritance (18:1 - 21:42)

^18:2And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance. ^18:3And Joshua said to the children of Israel, “How long will you delay to go to possess the land, which Jehovah God of your fathers, has given you? ^18:4Give out from among you three men for each tribe; and I will send them; and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me. ^18:5And they shall divide it into seven parts: Judah shall remain in their territory on the south; and the house of Joseph shall remain in their territories on the north.

^18:6“You shall therefore survey the land into seven parts; and bring the description here to me, that I may cast lots for you here before Jehovah our God.”

^18:7“But the Levites have no part among you: for the priesthood of Jehovah is their inheritance;

“and Gad, Reuben, and half the tribe of Manasseh, have received their inheritance beyond Jordan on the east, which Moses the servant of Jehovah gave them.”

^18:8And the men arose, and went away.

And Joshua ordered them that went to survey the land, saying, “Go and walk through the land, and survey it; and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before Jehovah in Shiloh.”

and they came again to Joshua to the army at Shiloh.

^18:10And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before Jehovah; and there Joshua divided the land to the children of Israel according to their divisions.

^18:12And their border on the north side was from Jordan; and the border went up to the side of Jericho on the north side, and went up through the mountains westward; and outgoings of it were at the wilderness of Beth-aven. ^18:13And the border went over from there toward Luz, to the side of Luz (which is Bethel), southward; and the border descended to Ataroth-adar, near the hill that lies on the south side of Beth-horon the lower. ^18:14And the border was drawn from there, and circled the corner of the sea southward, from the hill that lies before Beth-horon southward; and outgoings of it were at Kirjath-baal (which is Kirjath-jearim), a city of the children of Judah: this was the west side. ^18:15And the south side was from the end of Kirjath-jearim, and the border went out on the west, and went out to the well of water of Nephtoah; ^18:16and the border came down to the end of the mountain that lies before the valley of the son of Hinnom, and which is in the valley of the giants on the north, and descended to the valley of Hinnom, to the side of Jebusi on the south, and descended to En-rogel. ^18:17And it was drawn from the north, and went forth to En-shemesh, and went forth toward Geliloth, which is over against the going up of Adummim, and descended to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben, ^18:18and passed along toward the side over against Arabah northward, and went down to Arabah; ^18:19and the border passed along to the side of Beth-hoglah northward; and the outgoings of the border were at the north bay of the salt sea at the south end of Jordan: this was the south border. ^18:20And Jordan was its border on the east side.

This was the inheritance of the children of Benjamin, by its borders round about, according to their families.

^18:21Now the cities of the tribe of the children of Benjamin according to their families were Jericho, Beth-hoglah, the valley of Keziz, ^18:22Beth-arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel, ^18:23Avim, Parah, Ophrah, ^18:24Chephar-haammonai, Ophni, and Gaba: twelve cities with their villages; ^18:25Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth, ^18:26Mizpeh, Chephirah, Mozah, ^18:27Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah, ^18:28Zelah, Eleph, Jebusi (which is Jerusalem), Gibeath, and Kirjath: fourteen cities with their villages.

This is the inheritance of the children of Benjamin according to their families.

¶Opposite   Simeon received their inheritance within the inheritance of Judah (19:1 - 9)

^19:1And the second lot came forth to Simeon, even for the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families; and their inheritance was within the inheritance of the children of Judah.

^19:2And they had in their inheritance Beer-sheba (or Sheba), Moladah, ^19:3Hazar-shual, Balah, Azem, ^19:4Eltolad, Bethul, Hormah, ^19:5Ziklag, Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susah, ^19:6Beth-lebaoth, and Sharuhen: thirteen cities and their villages; ^19:7Ain, Remmon, Ether, and Ashan: four cities and their villages; ^19:8and all the villages that were round about these cities unto Baalath-beer, Ramath of the south.

This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families.

^19:9Out of the portion of the children of Judah was the inheritance of the children of Simeon.

For the part of the children of Judah was too much for them; therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance, within their inheritance.

¶Complement   Zebulun and Issachar received their inheritance (19:10 - 23)

^19:10And the third lot came up for the children of Zebulun according to their families; and the border of their inheritance was unto Sarid on the south; ^19:11and their border went up toward the sea of Galilee, and Maralah, and reached to Dabbasheth, and reached to the river that is before Jokneam; ^19:12and it turned from Sarid eastward toward the sunrise to the border of Chisloth-tabor, and then goes out to Daberath, and goes up to Japhia. ^19:13And from there it passes on along on the east to Gittah-hepher, to Ittah-kazin, and goes out to Remmon-methoar to Neah; ^19:14and the border circles it on the north side to Hannathon; and the outgoings of it are in the valley of Jiphthah-el.

^19:15And the cities are Kattath, Nahallal, Shimron, Idalah, and Bethlehem: twelve cities with their villages.

^19:16This is the inheritance of the children of Zebulun according to their families: these cities with their villages.

^19:17And the fourth lot came out to Issachar, for the children of Issachar according to their families. ^19:18And their border was toward Jezreel, Chesulloth, Shunem, ^19:19Haphraim, Shihon, Anaharath, ^19:20Rabbith, Kishion, Abez, ^19:21Remeth, En-gannim, En-haddah, and Beth-pazzez; ^19:22and the border reaches to Tabor, Shahazimah, and Beth-shemesh. And the outgoings of their border were at Jordan: sixteen cities with their villages.

^19:23This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Issachar according to their families, the cities and their villages.

¶Complement   Asher and Naphtali received their inheritance (19:24 - 39)

^19:24And the fifth lot came out for the tribe of the children of Asher according to their families. ^19:25And their border was Helkath, Hali, Beten, Achshaph, ^19:26Alammelech, Amad, and Misheal. And it reaches to Carmel westward, and to Shihor-libnath; ^19:27and it turns toward the sunrise to Beth-dagon, and reaches to Zebulun, and to the valley of Jiphthah-el toward the north side of Beth-emek, and Neiel, and goes out to Cabul on the left hand, ^19:28and Hebron, Rehob, Hammon, and Kanah, even to great Zidon; ^19:29and the border turns to Ramah, and to the strong city Tyre; and the border turns to Hosah; and the outgoings of it are at the sea from the border to Achzib.

^19:30The fortified cities are Ummah, also Aphek and Rehob: twenty-two cities with their villages.

^19:31This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Asher according to their families; these cities with their villages.

^19:32The sixth lot came out to the children of Naphtali, for the children of Naphtali according to their families. ^19:33And their border was from Heleph, from Allon to Zaanannim, and Adami, Nekeb, and Jabneel, to Lakum; and the outgoings of it were at Jordan; ^19:34and the border turns westward to Aznoth-tabor, and goes out from there to Hukkok, and reaches to Zebulun on the south side, and reaches to Asher on the west side, and to Judah upon Jordan toward the sunrise. ^19:35And the fortified cities are Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Chinnereth, ^19:36Adamah, Ramah, Hazor, ^19:37Kedesh, Edrei, En-hazor, ^19:38Iron, Migdal-el, Horem, Beth-anath, and Beth-shemesh: nineteen cities with their villages.

^19:39This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Naphtali according to their families: the cities and their villages.

¶Unique   The children of Israel gave Joshua a city in Ephraim as his inheritance after Dan received their inheritance (19:40 - 51)

^19:40And the seventh lot came out for the tribe of the children of Dan according to their families; ^19:41and the territory of their inheritance was Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir-shemesh, ^19:42Shaalabbin, Ajalon, Jethlah, ^19:43Elon, Thimnathah, Ekron, ^19:44Eltekeh, Gibbethon, Baalath, ^19:45Jehud, Bene-berak, Gath-rimmon, ^19:46Me-jarkon, and Rakkon, with the border before Japho. ^19:47And the territory of the children of Dan went out too little for them; therefore the children of Dan went up to fight against Leshem; and they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and possessed it, and dwelt in it, and called Leshem, Dan, after the name of Dan their father.

^19:48This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Dan, according to their families: these cities with their villages.

^19:49When they had made an end of dividing the land for inheritance by their borders, the children of Israel gave an inheritance to Joshua the son of Nun among them.

^19:50According to the Word of Jehovah they gave him the city which he asked, even Timnath-serah in mount Ephraim; and he built the city, and dwelt in it.

^19:51These are the inheritances which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, divided for an inheritance by lot in Shiloh before Jehovah, at the door of the Tabernacle of the congregation. So they finished dividing the country.

^20:1Jehovah also spoke to Joshua, saying, ^20:2“Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘Appoint out for you cities of refuge, whereof I spoke to you by the hand of Moses, ^20:3that the slayer that kills any person accidentally or unwittingly may flee there; and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood. ^20:4And when he that flees to one of those cities shall stand at the entering of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city to them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them. ^20:5And if the avenger of blood pursues after him, then they shall not deliver the slayer up into his hand, because he smote his neighbor unwittingly, and did not hate him previously.

^20:6“And he shall dwell in that city, until he stands before the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days; then shall the slayer return, and come to his own city, and to his own house, to the city from which he fled.’”

^20:7And they appointed Kedesh in Galilee in mount Naphtali, and Shechem in mount Ephraim, and Kirjath-arba (which is Hebron), in the mountain of Judah.

^20:8And on the other side of Jordan by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.

^20:9These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourns among them, that whosoever kills any person accidentally might flee there, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation.

^21:1Then the heads of the fathers of the Levites came near to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel. ^21:2And they spoke to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, “Jehovah commanded by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with its suburbs for our cattle.” ^21:3So the children of Israel gave to the Levites out of their inheritance, at the Commandment of Jehovah, these cities and their suburbs. ^21:4And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites. And the children of Aaron the priest, which were of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities. ^21:5And the rest of the children of Kohath had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh, ten cities. ^21:6And the children of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities. ^21:7The children of Merari by their families had out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.

^21:8And the children of Israel gave by lot to the Levites these cities with their suburbs, as Jehovah commanded by the hand of Moses: ^21:9and they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are here mentioned by name, ^21:10which the children of Aaron had, being of the families of the Kohathites, who were of the children of Levi: for theirs was the first lot. ^21:11And they gave them the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron, in the hill country of Judah, with its suburbs round about it. ^21:12But the fields of the city, and its villages, gave they to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession. ^21:13Thus they gave to the children of Aaron the priest Hebron with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Libnah with her suburbs, ^21:14and Jattir with her suburbs, and Eshtemoa with her suburbs, ^21:15and Holon with her suburbs, and Debir with her suburbs, ^21:16and Ain with her suburbs, and Juttah with her suburbs, and Beth-shemesh with her suburbs: nine cities out of those two tribes. ^21:17And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with her suburbs, Geba with her suburbs, ^21:18Anathoth with her suburbs, and Almon with her suburbs: four cities. ^21:19All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their suburbs.

^21:20And the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites which remained of the children of Kohath, even they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim. ^21:21For they gave them Shechem with her suburbs in mount Ephraim, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Gezer with her suburbs, ^21:22and Kibzaim with her suburbs, and Beth-horon with her suburbs: four cities. ^21:23And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh with her suburbs, Gibbethon with her suburbs, ^21:24Aijalon with her suburbs, Gath-rimmon with her suburbs: four cities. ^21:25And out of the half tribe of Manasseh, Tanach with her suburbs, and Gath-rimmon with her suburbs: two cities. ^21:26All the cities were ten with their suburbs for the families of the children of Kohath that remained.

^21:27And to the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the other half tribe of Manasseh they gave Golan in Bashan with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Beesh-terah with her suburbs: two cities. ^21:28And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishon with her suburbs, Dabareh with her suburbs, ^21:29Jarmuth with her suburbs, En-gannim with her suburbs: four cities. ^21:30And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with her suburbs, Abdon with her suburbs, ^21:31Helkath with her suburbs, and Rehob with her suburbs: four cities. ^21:32And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Hammoth-dor with her suburbs, and Kartan with her suburbs: three cities. ^21:33All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with their suburbs.

^21:34And to the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites: out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with her suburbs, and Kartah with her suburbs, ^21:35Dimnah with her suburbs, Nahalal with her suburbs: four cities. ^21:36And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with her suburbs, and Jahazah with her suburbs, ^21:37Kedemoth with her suburbs, and Mephaath with her suburbs: four cities. ^21:38And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Mahanaim with her suburbs, ^21:39Heshbon with her suburbs, Jazer with her suburbs: four cities in all. ^21:40So all the cities for the children of Merari by their families, which were remaining of the families of the Levites, were by their lot twelve cities. ^21:41All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel were forty-eight cities with their suburbs. ^21:42These cities were every one with their suburbs round about them: thus were all these cities.

Y desciende este término de Atarot-adar al monte que está al sur de Bet-horón la de abajo. ^18:14Y rodea este término, y da vuelta al lado del mar hacia el sur hasta el monte que está delante de Bet-horón hacia el sur; y viene a salir a Quiriat-baal, que es Quiriat-jearim, ciudad de los hijos de Judá. Éste es el lado del occidente. ^18:15Y el lado del sur es desde el cabo de Quiriat-jearim, y sale el término al occidente, y sale a la fuente de las aguas de Neftoa; ^18:16y desciende este término al cabo del monte que está delante del valle del hijo de Hinom, que está en el valle de los nephilim hacia el norte; desciende luego al valle de Hinom, al lado del jebuseo al sur, y de allí desciende a la fuente de Rogel; ^18:17y del norte torna y sale a Ensemes, y de allí sale a Gelilot, que está delante de la subida de Adumín, y descendía a la piedra de Bohán, hijo de Rubén, ^18:18y pasa al lado que está enfrente del Arabá, y desciende al Arabá. ^18:19Y la ribera pasaba por el lado de Bet-hogla hacia el norte, y la salida de la ribera estaba a la bahía norte del Mar Salado, en el extremo sur del Jordán: ésta era la frontera sur. ^18:20Y el Jordán acaba este término al lado del oriente.

Ésta es la heredad de los hijos de Benjamín por sus términos alrededor, conforme a sus familias.

^19:2Y tuvieron en su heredad a Beerseba, Seba, Molada, ^19:3Hasar-sual, Bala, Esem, ^19:4Eltolad, Betul, Horma, ^19:5Siclag, Bet-marcabot, Hasar-susa, ^19:6Bet-lebaot y Saruhén; trece ciudades con sus aldeas; ^19:7Aín, Rimón, Eter y Asán; cuatro ciudades con sus aldeas; ^19:8y todas las aldeas que estaban alrededor de estas ciudades hasta Baalat-beer, que es Ramat del Neguev.

Ésta es la heredad de la tribu de los hijos de Simeón, conforme a sus familias.

^19:9De la porción de los hijos de Judá fue sacada la heredad de los hijos de Simeón.

Porque la porción de los hijos de Judá era excesiva para ellos; así que los hijos de Simeón tuvieron su heredad en medio de la de ellos.

¶El complemento   Zabulón e Isacar recibieron su herencia (19:10 - 23)

^19:10La tercera suerte salió para los hijos de Zabulón conforme a sus familias; y el término de su heredad fue hasta Sarid. ^19:11Y su término subía hasta el mar, hasta Merala, y llegaba hasta Dabeset, y de allí llegaba hasta el arroyo que está enfrente de Jocneam; ^19:12y doblaba de Sarid hacia el oriente, hacia donde nace el sol, al término de Quisi-lotabor, seguía hasta Daberat y subía a Jafía; ^19:13y de allí pasaba hacia el lado oriental hasta Gat-hefer y a Ita-kazin, y salía a Rimón rodeando a Nea. ^19:14Y por el lado norte el término rodeaba hasta Hanatón, viniendo a salir al valle de Iftael.

^19:15Y las ciudades fueron Cata, Naalal, Simrón, Ideala y Belén; doce ciudades con sus aldeas.

^19:16Ésta es la heredad de los hijos de Zabulón por sus familias; estas ciudades con sus aldeas.

^19:17La cuarta suerte salió para Isacar, para los hijos de Isacar conforme a sus familias. ^19:18Y fue su término Jezreel, Quesulot, Sunem, ^19:19Hafaraim, Sihón, Anaarat, ^19:20Rabit, Quisión, Ebes, ^19:21Ramet, En-ganim, En-hada y Bet-pases; ^19:22y llegaba este término hasta Tabor, Sahasim y Bet-semes, y terminaba en el Jordán; dieciséis ciudades con sus aldeas.

^19:23Ésta es la heredad de la tribu de los hijos de Isacar conforme a sus familias; estas ciudades con sus aldeas.

¶El complemento   Asher y Naphtali recibieron su herencia (19:24 - 39)

^19:24Y salió la quinta suerte para la tribu de los hijos de Aser conforme a sus familias. ^19:25Y su término fue Helcat, Halí, Betén, Acsaf, ^19:26Alamelec, Amead y Miseal; y llegaba hasta el Carmelo al occidente, y a Sihor-libnat; ^19:27y doblaba hacia donde nace el sol hasta Bet-dagón, y llegaba a Zabulón, al valle de Iftael hacia el norte, a Bet-emec y Nehiel, y salía a Cabul hacia la izquierda; ^19:28y abarcaba Hebrón, Rehob, Hamón y Cana, hasta la gran Sidón; ^19:29y doblaba de allí este término hacia Ramá, hasta la ciudad fortificada de Tiro, y tornaba este término hacia Hosa, y salía al mar desde el territorio de Aczib.

^19:30Las ciudades fueron Uma, también Afec y Rehob; veintidós ciudades con sus aldeas.

^19:31Ésta es la heredad de la tribu de los hijos de Aser por sus familias; estas ciudades con sus aldeas.

^19:32La sexta suerte salió para los hijos de Neftalí, para los hijos de Neftalí conforme a sus familias. ^19:33Y su término era desde Helef, Alón-saananim, Adami-neceb y Jabneel, hasta Lacum; y salía al Jordán. ^19:34Y tornaba de allí este término hacia el occidente a Aznot-tabor, pasando de allí a Hucoc, y llegaba hasta Zabulón por el lado sur, y al occidente colindaba con Aser, y con Judá al Jordán hacia donde nace el sol. ^19:35Y las ciudades fortificadas eran Sidim, Ser, Hamat, Racat, Cineret, ^19:36Adama, Ramá, Hazor, ^19:37Cedes, Edrei, En-hazor, ^19:38Irón, Migdalel, Horem, Bet-anat y Bet-semes; diecinueve ciudades con sus aldeas.

^19:39Ésta es la heredad de la tribu de los hijos de Neftalí conforme a sus familias; estas ciudades con sus aldeas.

¶Único   Los hijos de Israel le dieron a Josué una ciudad en Efraín como herencia después de que la tribu de Dan recibieron su herencia (19:40 - 51)

^19:40La séptima suerte salió para la tribu de los hijos de Dan conforme a sus familias. ^19:41Y fue el término de su heredad, Zora, Estaol, Ir-semes, ^19:42Saalbim, Ajalón, Jetla, ^19:43Elón, Timnat, Ecrón, ^19:44Elteque, Gibetón, Baalat, ^19:45Jehúd, Bene-berac, Gat-rimón, ^19:46Mejarcón y Racón, con el término que está delante de Jope.

^19:47Y les faltó territorio a los hijos de Dan; y subieron los hijos de Dan y combatieron a Lesem, y tomándola la hirieron a filo de espada, y la poseyeron, y habitaron en ella; y llamaron a Lesem, Dan, del nombre de Dan su padre. ^19:48Ésta es la heredad de la tribu de los hijos de Dan conforme a sus familias; estas ciudades con sus aldeas.

^19:49Y después que acabaron de repartir la tierra en heredad por sus términos, dieron los hijos de Israel heredad a Josué hijo de Nun en medio de ellos.

^19:50De acuerdo a la palabra de Jehová, le dieron la ciudad que él pidió, Timnat-sera, en el monte de Efraín; y él reedificó la ciudad, y habitó en ella.

^19:51Éstas son las heredades que Eleazar sacerdote, y Josué hijo de Nun, y los principales de los padres, entregaron por suerte en posesión a las tribus de los hijos de Israel en Silo delante de Jehová, a la entrada del Tabernáculo de la congregación. Así terminaron de dividir el país.

^20:1Y habló Jehová a Josué, diciendo, ^20:2“Habla a los hijos de Israel, diciendo, ‘Señalaos las ciudades de refugio, de las cuales yo os hablé por Moisés; ^20:3para que se refugie allí el homicida que matare a alguno por yerro y no a sabiendas; que os sean por refugio del cercano del muerto. ^20:4Y el que se refugiare a alguna de aquellas ciudades, se presentará a la puerta de la ciudad, y dirá sus causas, oyéndolo los ancianos de aquella ciudad, y ellos le recibirán consigo dentro de la ciudad, y le darán lugar que habite con ellos. ^20:5Y cuando el cercano del muerto le siguiere, no entregarán en su mano al homicida, por cuanto hirió a su prójimo por accidente, ni tuvo con él antes enemistad.

^20:6“Y quedará en aquella ciudad hasta que comparezca en juicio delante de la congregación, hasta la muerte del sumo sacerdote que fuere en aquel tiempo; entonces el homicida tornará y vendrá a su ciudad y a su casa y a la ciudad de donde huyó’”.

^20:7Entonces señalaron a Cedes en Galilea, en el monte de Neftalí, y a Siquem en el monte de Efraín, y a Quiriat-arba, que es Hebrón, en el monte de Judá.

^20:8Y al otro lado del Jordán, al oriente de Jericó, señalaron a Beser en el desierto, en la llanura de la tribu de Rubén, y a Ramot en Galaad de la tribu de Gad, y a Golán en Basán de la tribu de Manasés.

^20:9Éstas fueron las ciudades señaladas para todos los hijos de Israel, y para el extranjero que habitase entre ellos, para que pudiese huir a ellas cualquiera que hiriese hombre por accidente, y no muriese por mano del vengador de la sangre, hasta que compareciese delante de la congregación.

^21:1Y los principales de los padres de los levitas vinieron a Eleazar sacerdote, y a Josué hijo de Nun, y a los principales de los padres de las tribus de los hijos de Israel; ^21:2y les hablaron en Silo en la tierra de Canaán, diciendo, “Jehová mandó por Moisés que nos fuesen dadas villas para habitar, con sus ejidos para nuestras bestias”. ^21:3Entonces los hijos de Israel dieron a los levitas de sus posesiones, conforme a la Palabra de Jehová, estas villas con sus ejidos. ^21:4Y salió la suerte por las familias de los coatitas; y fueron dadas por suerte a los hijos de Aarón sacerdote, que eran de los levitas, por la tribu de Judá, por la de Simeón y por la de Benjamín, trece ciudades. ^21:5Y a los otros hijos de Coat se dieron por suerte diez ciudades de las familias de la tribu de Efraín, y de la tribu de Dan, y de la media tribu de Manasés. ^21:6Y a los hijos de Gersón, por las familias de la tribu de Isacar, y de la tribu de Aser, y de la tribu de Neftalí, y de la media tribu de Manasés en Basán, fueron dadas por suerte trece ciudades. ^21:7A los hijos de Merari por sus familias se dieron doce ciudades por la tribu de Rubén, y por la tribu de Gad, y por la tribu de Zabulón.

^21:8Y así dieron por suerte los hijos de Israel a los levitas estas ciudades con sus ejidos, como Jehová lo había mandado por Moisés. ^21:9Y de la tribu de los hijos de Judá, y de la tribu de los hijos de Simeón dieron estas ciudades que fueron nombradas. ^21:10Y la primera suerte fue de los hijos de Aarón, de la familia de Coat, de los hijos de Leví; ^21:11a los cuales dieron Quiriat-arba, del padre de Anac, la cual es Hebrón, en el monte de Judá, con sus ejidos en sus contornos. ^21:12Pero el campo de esta ciudad y sus aldeas dieron a Caleb hijo de Jefone, por su posesión. ^21:13Y a los hijos de Aarón sacerdote dieron la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas, a Hebrón con sus ejidos; y a Libna con sus ejidos, ^21:14y a Jatir con sus ejidos, y a Estemoa con sus ejidos, ^21:15a Holón con sus ejidos, y a Debir con sus ejidos, ^21:16a Aín con sus ejidos, a Juta con sus ejidos, y a Bet-semes con sus ejidos; nueve ciudades de estas dos tribus. ^21:17Y de la tribu de Benjamín, a Gabaón con sus ejidos, a Geba con sus ejidos, ^21:18a Anatot con sus ejidos, a Almón con sus ejidos: cuatro ciudades. ^21:19Todas las ciudades de los sacerdotes, hijos de Aarón, son trece con sus ejidos.

^21:20Pero las familias de los hijos de Coat, levitas, los que quedaban de los hijos de Coat, recibieron por suerte ciudades de la tribu de Efraín. ^21:21Y les dieron a Siquem, ciudad de refugio para los homicidas, con sus ejidos, en el monte de Efraín; y a Gezer con sus ejidos. ^21:22Y a Kibsaim con sus ejidos, y a Bet-horón con sus ejidos; cuatro ciudades. ^21:23Y de la tribu de Dan a Elteque con sus ejidos, a Gibetón con sus ejidos, ^21:24a Ajalón con sus ejidos y a Gat-rimón con sus ejidos; cuatro ciudades. ^21:25Y de la media tribu de Manasés, a Taanac con sus ejidos y a Gat-rimón con sus ejidos; dos ciudades. ^21:26Todas las ciudades para el resto de las familias de los hijos de Coat fueron diez con sus ejidos.

^21:27A los hijos de Gersón de las familias de los levitas, dieron la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas, de la media tribu de Manasés; a Golán en Basán con sus ejidos, y a Beestera con sus ejidos; dos ciudades. ^21:28Y de la tribu de Isacar, a Cisón con sus ejidos, a Daberat con sus ejidos, ^21:29a Jarmut con sus ejidos y a En-ganim con sus ejidos; cuatro ciudades. ^21:30Y de la tribu de Aser, a Miseal con sus ejidos, a Abdón con sus ejidos, ^21:31a Helcat con sus ejidos y a Rehob con sus ejidos; cuatro ciudades. ^21:32Y de la tribu de Neftalí, la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas, a Cedes en Galilea con sus ejidos, a Hamot-dor con sus ejidos, y a Cartán con sus ejidos; tres ciudades. ^21:33Todas las ciudades de los gersonitas por sus familias fueron trece ciudades con sus ejidos.

^21:34Y a las familias de los hijos de Merari, levitas que quedaban, se les dio de la tribu de Zabulón, a Jocneam con sus ejidos, Carta con sus ejidos, ^21:35Dimna con sus ejidos, Naalal con sus ejidos; cuatro ciudades. ^21:36Y de la tribu de Rubén, a Beser con sus ejidos, a Jahaza con sus ejidos, ^21:37a Cademot con sus ejidos, y Mefaat con sus ejidos; cuatro ciudades. ^21:38De la tribu de Gad, la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas, Ramot en Galaad con sus ejidos, y Mahanaim con sus ejidos, ^21:39Hesbón con sus ejidos, y Jazer con sus ejidos; cuatro ciudades. ^21:40Todas las ciudades de los hijos de Merari por sus familias, que restaban de las familias de los levitas, fueron por sus suertes doce ciudades. ^21:41Y todas las ciudades de los levitas en medio de la posesión de los hijos de Israel, fueron cuarenta y ocho ciudades con sus ejidos. ^21:42Y estas ciudades estaban apartadas la una de la otra cada cual con sus ejidos alrededor de ellas, lo cual fue en todas estas ciudades.
