Daniel & Zechariah, Chapter 2.2 (Zechariah): The coming of the King of Zion was foreshadowed by the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem (3:1 - 6:15)

Introduction: The high priests of Aaron became temporary rulers of Judah, but the Holy Spirit was still with the line of David (3:1 - 4:10)

¶Opposite   Jehovah appointed the high priests of Aaron to temporarily rule in place of the sons of David after the restoration of the Jews (3:1 - 10)

¶Opposite   The grace of the Holy Spirit will help Zerubbabel, the son of David, to overcome the difficulties of rebuilding the Temple (4:1 - 10)

Body: The two olive trees beside the golden candlestick in the Temple were the two sons of the oil that stand by Jehovah (4:11 - 5:4)

¶Unique   The prophet asked what were the two olive trees and two olive branches (4:11 - 12)

¶Complement   The angel asked the prophet if he knew what they were (4:13)

¶Complement   The angel said the two olive trees are the two sons of the oil that stand by the Lord of the whole Earth (4:14)

¶Opposite   The prophet saw a flying scroll of 20 x 10 cubits (5:1 - 2)

¶Opposite   The angel said it was the curse that shall judge the breaker of the Law of Moses (5:3 - 4)

Conclusion: The omniscience of the Holy Spirit will bring the Messiah to rule in Jerusalem as a Priest-King (5:5 - 6:15)

¶Complement   The multi-colored horses walking through the earth symbolized the omniscience of the Holy Spirit (5:5 - 6:8)

¶Complement   The priests of Aaron ruling as kings symbolized the coming Messiah, who would be a Priest-King (6:9 - 15)

§Unique   Introduction: The high priests of Aaron became temporary rulers of Judah, but the Holy Spirit was still with the line of David (3:1 - 4:10)

¶Opposite   Jehovah appointed the high priests of Aaron to temporarily rule in place of the sons of David after the restoration of the Jews (3:1 - 10)

^3:1And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of Jehovah; and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. ^3:2And Jehovah said to Satan, "Jehovah rebuke you, O Satan; even Jehovah that has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you. Is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?”

^3:3Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments; and he stood before the angel; ^3:4and he answered and spoke to those that stood before him, saying, “Take away the filthy garments from him.” And he said to him, “Behold, I have caused your iniquity to pass from you; and I will clothe you with a change of garments.”

^3:5And I said, “Let them set a beautiful miter upon his head.” So they set a beautiful miter upon his head, and clothed him with garments.

And the angel of Jehovah stood by; ^3:6and the angel of Jehovah admonished Joshua, saying, ^3:7“Thus says Jehovah of hosts: ‘If you will walk in my ways, and if you will keep my charge, then you shall also judge my House, and shall also keep my courts; and I will give you places to walk among these that stand by.

^3:8Hear now, O Joshua the high priest (you, and your companions that sit before you: for they are men wondered at): for, behold, I will bring forth my Servant the BRANCH. ^3:9For behold the STONE that I have laid before Joshua; upon one STONE shall be seven eyes. Behold, I will inscribe its inscription,’ says Jehovah of hosts, ‘and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. ^3:10In that day,’ says Jehovah of hosts, ‘you shall call every man his neighbor under the vine and under the fig tree.’”

¶Opposite   The grace of the Holy Spirit will help Zerubbabel, the son of David, to overcome the difficulties of rebuilding the Temple (4:1 - 10)

^4:1And the angel that talked with me came again; and he woke me, as a man that is waked out of his sleep, ^4:2and said to me, “What do you see?” And I said, “I have looked; and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl on its top, and his seven lamps on it; and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are on its top; ^4:3and two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon its left side.”

^4:4So I answered and spoke to the angel that talked with me, saying, “What are these, my lord?” ^4:5Then the angel that talked with me answered and said to me, "Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.”

^4:6Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, “This is the Word of Jehovah to Zerubbabel, saying, ‘’Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says Jehovah of hosts.

^4:7‘Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain; and he shall bring forth the Cornerstone with shouting, crying, ‘Grace, grace!’ unto it.’’”

^4:8Moreover the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ^4:9‘’The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this House. His hands shall also finish it; and you shall know that Jehovah of hosts, has sent me to you: ^4:10for who has despised the day of small things? For they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of Jehovah, which run to and fro through the whole earth.”

§Complement   Body: The two olive trees beside the golden candlestick in the Temple were symbols of the two sons of the oil that stand by Jehovah (4:11 - 5:4)

^4:11Then I answered, and said to him, “What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon its left side?” ^4:12And I answered again, and said to him, “What are these two olive branches which empty the golden oil out of themselves through the two golden pipes?”

^4:13And he answered me and said, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.”

^4:14Then he said, “These are the two sons of the oil, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.”

^5:1Then I turned, and lifted up my eyes, and looked; and behold a flying scroll. ^5:2And he said to me, “What do you see?” And I answered, “I see a flying scroll: its length is twenty cubits, and its breadth ten cubits.”

^5:3Then he said to me, “’This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth: for everyone that steals shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that swears shall be cut off as on that side according to it. ^5:4I will bring it forth,’ says Jehovah of hosts, ‘and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that swears falsely by my Name; and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with its timber and its stones.’”

^5:9Then I lifted up my eyes, and looked, and, behold, two women came out; and the wind was in their wings: for they had wings like the wings of a stork; and they lifted up the ephah basket between the earth and the heaven. ^5:10Then I said to the angel that talked with me, “Where do these carry the ephah basket?” ^5:11And he said to me, “To build it a house in the land of Shinar; and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base.”

^6:1And I turned, and lifted up my eyes, and looked; and behold, four chariots came out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of bronze. ^6:2In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses; ^6:3and in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot dappled and bay horses. ^6:4Then I answered and said to the angel that talked with me, “What are these, my lord?” ^6:5And the angel answered and said to me, “These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth. ^6:6The black horses which are in it go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the dappled go forth toward the south country.”

^6:7And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth. And he said, “Go; walk to and fro through the earth.” So they walked to and fro through the earth.

^6:8Then he cried upon me, and spoke to me, saying, “Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my Spirit in the north country.”

¶Complement   The priests of Aaron ruling as kings symbolized the coming Messiah, who would be a Priest-King (6:9 - 15)

^6:9And the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ^6:10“Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah, which have come from Babylon; and come the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah.

^6:11Then take silver and gold, and make crowns; and set them upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest; ^6:12and speak to him, saying, ‘Thus speaks Jehovah of hosts, saying, ‘Behold the man whose Name is ‘THE BRANCH’; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the Temple of Jehovah; ^6:13even he shall build the Temple of Jehovah. And he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne; and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

^6:14And the crowns shall be given to Helem, to Tobijah, to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the Temple of Jehovah.

^6:15And they that are far away shall come and build in the Temple of Jehovah, and you shall know that Jehovah of hosts has sent me to you.

And this shall come to pass, if you will diligently obey the voice of Jehovah your God.’”

^3:5Después dijo, “Pongan mitra limpia sobre su cabeza”. Y pusieron una mitra limpia sobre su cabeza, y le vistieron las ropas.

Y el Ángel de Jehová estaba en pie; ^3:6y el Ángel de Jehová amonestó a Josué, diciendo, ^3:7“Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘Si anduvieres por mis caminos, y si guardares mi Ordenanza, también tú gobernarás mi casa, también tú guardarás mis atrios, y entre éstos que aquí están te daré plaza.

^3:8Escucha pues, ahora, Josué sumo sacerdote (tú, y tus amigos que se sientan delante de ti: porque son varones admirables): He aquí, yo traigo a mi siervo, el Renuevo. ^3:9Porque he aquí aquella ROCA que puse delante de Josué; sobre esta única ROCA hay siete ojos. He aquí, yo grabaré su escultura,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘y quitaré el pecado de la tierra en un día. ^3:10En aquel día,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘cada uno de ustedes llamará a su compañero debajo de la vid, y debajo de la higuera’”.

^4:4Proseguí, y hablé a aquel Ángel que hablaba conmigo, diciendo, “¿Qué es esto, mi Señor?”. ^4:5Y el Ángel que hablaba conmigo respondió, y me dijo, “¿No sabes qué es esto?”. Y dije, “No, mi Señor”.

^4:6Entonces respondió y me habló, diciendo, “Ésta es Palabra de Jehová a Zorobabel, que dice, ‘‘No con ejército, ni con fuerza, sino con mi Espíritu,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

^4:7‘¿Quién eres tú, oh gran monte? Delante de Zorobabel serás reducido a un llanura; él sacará la primera piedra con aclamaciones, gritando, ‘¡Gracia, gracia!’ a ello’’”.

^4:8Entonces la Palabra de Jehová vino a mí, diciendo, ^4:9“Las manos de Zorobabel echarán el fundamento a esta casa, y sus manos la acabarán; y conocerás que Jehová de los ejércitos me envió a ustedes: ^4:10porque los que menospreciaron el día de las pequeñeces se alegrarán, y verán la plomada en la mano de Zorobabel. Estos siete son los ojos de Jehová que recorren por toda la tierra”.

^4:14Entonces él dijo, “Éstos son los dos ungidos que están delante del Señor de toda la tierra”.

^5:1Y me volví, y alcé mis ojos, y miré, y he aquí un rollo que volaba. ^5:2Y me dijo, “¿Qué ves?”. Y respondí, “Veo un rollo que vuela, de veinte codos de largo, y diez codos de ancho”.

^5:3Me dijo entonces, “‘Ésta es la maldición que sale sobre la faz de toda la tierra: porque todo aquel que hurta será destruido según lo escrito en un lado, y todo aquel que jura será destruido según lo escrito en el otro lado. ^5:4Yo la haré salir,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos,’ y vendrá a la casa del ladrón, y a la casa del que jura falsamente en mi Nombre; y permanecerá en medio de su casa, y la consumirá, con su madera y sus piedras’”.

Y la echó dentro del efa, y echó la masa de plomo en la boca del efa.

^5:9Alcé luego mis ojos, y miré, y he aquí dos mujeres que salían, y traían viento en sus alas, y tenían alas como de cigüeña, y alzaron el efa entre la tierra y el cielo. ^5:10Y dije al Ángel que hablaba conmigo, “¿A dónde llevan el efa?”. ^5:11Y él me respondió, “Para que le sea edificada casa en tierra de Sinar; y será establecido y puesto allí sobre su base”.

^6:1Y me volví, y alcé mis ojos y miré, y he aquí cuatro carros que salían de entre dos montes; y aquellos montes eran montes de bronce. ^6:2En el primer carro había caballos alazanes, y en el segundo carro caballos negros, ^6:3y en el tercer carro caballos blancos, y en el cuarto carro caballos overos bayos rodados. ^6:4Respondí entonces, y dije al Ángel que hablaba conmigo, “Señor mío, ¿qué es esto?”. ^6:5Y el Ángel me respondió, y me dijo, “Éstos son los cuatro espíritus de los cielos, que salen después de presentarse ante el Señor de toda la tierra. ^6:6Y los caballos negros que estaban allí, salían hacia la tierra del norte; y los blancos salían tras ellos; y los overos salían hacia la tierra del sur”.

^6:7Y los bayos salieron, y se afanaron por ir a recorrer la tierra. Y dijo, “Id, recorred la tierra”. Y recorrieron la tierra.

^6:8Luego me llamó, y me habló diciendo, “Mira, los que salieron hacia la tierra del norte hicieron reposar mi Espíritu en la tierra del norte”.

^6:9Y vino a mí Palabra de Jehová, diciendo, ^6:10“Toma de los del cautiverio, de Heldai, y de Tobías, y de Jedaías, los cuales volvieron de Babilonia; y vendrás tú en aquel día, y entrarás en casa de Josías hijo de Sofonías.

^6:11Tomarás, pues, plata y oro, y harás coronas, y las pondrás en la cabeza del sumo sacerdote Josué, hijo de Josadac; ^6:12y le hablarás, diciendo, ‘Así ha hablado Jehová de los ejércitos, diciendo, ‘He aquí el varón cuyo Nombre es ‘El Renuevo’, el cual brotará de su lugar, y edificará el Templo de Jehová: ^6:13él edificará el Templo de Jehová; y él llevará gloria y se sentará y regirá en su trono; será sacerdote sobre su trono, y consejo de paz habrá entre ambos.

^6:14Y Helem, y Tobías, y Jedaías, y Hen, hijo de Sofonías, tendrán coronas por memorial en el Templo de Jehová.

^6:15Y los que están lejos vendrán y edificarán en el Templo de Jehová, y conoceréis que Jehová de los ejércitos me ha enviado a ustedes.

Y esto sucederá si con diligencia obedecéis la voz de Jehová vuestro Dios’”.
