Daniel & Zechariah, Chapter 1.3 (Daniel): The coming of the Kingdom was confirmed by Jehovah’s authority over lions (6:1 - 28)

Introduction: God blessed Daniel with great authority in the new kingdom of Persia, but his enemies plotted to remove him (6:1 - 5)

¶Opposite   Darius reorganized his government with Daniel at the top of the presidents (6:1 - 2)

¶Opposite   The other presidents and princes plotted to remove Daniel, using his own faithfulness to God as the means (6:3 - 5)

Body: Daniel was determined to remain faithful to God, no matter the consequences (6:6 - 23)

¶Unique   The enemies of Daniel created a law to trap Daniel, but he continued praying three times a day (6:6 - 10)

¶Complement   The enemies of Daniel found Daniel in violation of their new law, and accused him to the king (6:11 - 13)

¶Complement   The king attempted in vain to undo the law to save Daniel (6:14 - 16a)

¶Opposite   In the evening, the king believed that the God of Daniel would deliver his faithful servant from the lions (6:16b - 18)

¶Opposite   In the morning, the king rejoiced to find that God had sent his angel to save Daniel from the lions (6:19 - 22)

Conclusion: The enemies of Daniel were executed, and the king of Persia praised the God of Daniel as the Living God (6:23 - 28)

¶Complement   The king cast the men and their families into the den of lions, because of their wickedness (6:23 - 24)

¶Complement   The king praised Jehovah the Living God, who delivered Daniel from the power of the lions (6:25 - 28)

^6:1It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the entire kingdom.

^6:2And over these princes were three presidents;

of whom Daniel was first.

This was so that the princes might give accounts to them,

and the king should have no damage.

¶Opposite   The other presidents and princes plotted to remove Daniel, using his own faithfulness to God as the means (6:3 - 5)

^6:3Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him;

and the king planned to set him over the entire realm.

^6:4Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom.

But they could find no occasion nor fault, forasmuch as he was faithful; neither was there any error or fault found in him.

^6:5Then these men said, “We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, unless we find it against him concerning the Law of his God.”

^6:6Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king; and they said this to him, “King Darius, live forever. ^6:7All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, the princes, the counselors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any god or man for thirty days, except of you, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

^6:8Now, O king, establish the decree. And sign the writing, so that it will not be changed; according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which changes not.” ^6:9Therefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.

^6:10Now when Daniel knew that the writing had been signed, he went into his house.

And his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day;

and he prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did before.

¶Complement   The enemies of Daniel found Daniel in violation of their new law, and accused him to the king (6:11 - 13)

^6:11Then these men assembled; and they found Daniel praying, and making supplication before his God.

^6:12Then they came near, and spoke before the king concerning the king's decree: “Have you not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, except of you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?”

The king answered and said, “The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which changes not.”

^6:13Then they answered and said before the king, “That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, does not respect you, O king, nor the decree that you have signed;

but he makes his petition three times a day.”

¶Complement   The king attempted in vain to undo the law to save Daniel (6:14 - 16a)

^6:14Then the king, when he heard these words, was very displeased with himself;

and he set his heart on Daniel to save him;

and he labored until the setting of the sun to save him.

^6:15Then these men assembled to the king; and they said to the king, “Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, that no decree nor statute which the king establishes may be changed.”

^6:16Then the king commanded; and they brought Daniel, and they cast him into the den of lions.

¶Opposite   In the evening, the king believed that the God of Daniel would deliver his faithful servant from the lions (6:16b - 18)

The king spoke, and said to Daniel, “Your God whom you serve continually, he will deliver you.”

^6:17And a stone was brought and laid upon the mouth of the den.

And the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords, that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.

^6:18Then the king went to his palace.

And he passed the night fasting; neither were instruments of music brought before him; and his sleep departed from him.

¶Opposite   In the morning, the king rejoiced to find that God had sent his angel to save Daniel from the lions (6:19 - 22)

^6:19Then the king arose very early in the morning;

and he hurried to the den of lions.

^6:20And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice to Daniel: the king spoke and said to Daniel, “O Daniel, servant of the living God; is your God, whom you serve continually, able to deliver you from the lions?” ^6:21Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever.

^6:22My God has sent his angel, and he has shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me.

Forasmuch as before him innocence was found in me; and also before you, O king, have I done no harm.”

§Complement   Conclusion: The enemies of Daniel were executed, and the king of Persia praised the God of Daniel as the Living God (6:23 - 28)

^6:23Then the king was very glad for him; and he commanded that they should take up Daniel out of the den, so Daniel was taken up out of the den.

And no manner of harm was found upon him, because he believed in his God.

^6:24And the king commanded; and they brought those men which had accused Daniel;

and they cast them into the den of lions: them, their children, and their wives.

And the lions had the mastery of them; and they broke all their bones in pieces before they ever came to the bottom of the den.

¶Complement   The king praised Jehovah the Living God, who delivered Daniel from the power of the lions (6:25 - 28)

^6:25Then king Darius wrote to all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth: “Peace be multiplied to you.

^6:26I make a decree, that in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and steadfast forever; and his Kingdom that which shall not be destroyed; and his dominion shall endure to the End.

^6:27He delivers and rescues, and works signs and wonders in Heaven and in earth;

who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.”

^6:28So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

pero no podían hallar alguna ocasión o falta: porque él era fiel, y ningún vicio ni falta fue hallado en él.

^6:5Entonces dijeron aquellos hombres, “No hallaremos contra este Daniel ocasión alguna, si no la hallamos contra él en relación a la Ley de su Dios”.

^6:8Ahora, oh rey, confirma el edicto, y firma la escritura, para que no pueda ser cambiada, conforme a la ley de Media y de Persia, la cual no puede ser revocada”. ^6:9Firmó, pues, el rey Darío la escritura y el edicto

^6:10Ahora Daniel, cuando supo que la escritura estaba firmada, entró en su casa;

y abiertas las ventanas de su cámara que estaban hacia Jerusalén, se hincaba de rodillas tres veces al día;

y oraba, y daba gracias delante de su Dios, como lo solía hacer antes.

¶El complemento   Los enemigos de Daniel le dijeron al rey sobre la transgresión de Daniel de su nueva ley (6:11 - 13)

^6:11Entonces se juntaron aquellos hombres; y hallaron a Daniel orando, y suplicando delante de su Dios.

^6:12Se llegaron luego; y hablaron delante del rey acerca del edicto real, “¿No has confirmado edicto que cualquiera que pidiere a cualquier dios u hombre en el espacio de treinta días, excepto a ti, oh rey, fuese echado en el foso de los leones?”.

Respondió el rey y dijo, “Verdad es, conforme a la ley de Media y de Persia, la cual no se abroga”.

^6:13Entonces respondieron y dijeron delante del rey, “Ese Daniel, que es de los hijos de la cautividad de los Judíos, no ha hecho cuenta de ti, oh rey, ni del edicto que confirmaste;

pero hace su petición tres veces al día”.

¶El complemento   El rey intentó en vano deshacer la ley para salvar a Daniel (6:14 - 16a)

^6:14Entonces el rey, al oír estas palabras, le pesó en gran manera;

y él puso su corazón sobre Daniel para salvarle;

y él trabajó hasta la puesta del sol para salvarle.

^6:15Pero aquellos hombres se reunieron cerca del rey, y dijeron al rey, “Sepas, oh rey, que es ley de Media y de Persia, que ningún decreto u ordenanza que el rey confirmare puede ser cambiado”.

^6:16Entonces el rey mandó, y trajeron a Daniel, y le echaron en el foso de los leones.

¶Lo opuesto   Por la tarde, el rey creía que el Dios de Daniel liberaría a su fiel siervo de los leones (6:16b - 18)

Y hablando el rey dijo a Daniel, “El Dios tuyo, a quien tú continuamente sirves, él te librará”.

^6:17Y fue traída una piedra, y puesta sobre la puerta del foso;

y el rey lo selló con su propio anillo, y con el anillo de sus príncipes, para que el acuerdo acerca de Daniel no se cambiase.

^6:18Se fue luego el rey a su palacio;

y pasó la noche en ayuno; ni instrumentos de música fueron traídos delante de él, y se le fue el sueño.

¶Lo opuesto   En la mañana, el El rey se alegró al descubrir que Dios había enviado a su ángel para salvar a Daniel desde los leones (6:19 - 22)

^6:19Entonces el rey se levantó muy de mañana;

y fue aprisa al foso de los leones.

^6:20Y llegándose cerca del foso llamó a voces a Daniel con voz triste. Y el rey habló a Daniel y le dijo, “Daniel, siervo del Dios viviente, el Dios tuyo, a quien tú continuamente sirves ¿te ha podido librar de los leones?”. ^6:21Entonces habló Daniel con el rey, “Oh rey, para siempre vive.

^6:22El Dios mío envió su ángel, el cual cerró la boca de los leones, para que no me hiciesen mal.

Porque delante de él fui hallado inocente; y aun delante de ti, oh rey, yo no he hecho ningún mal”.

§El complemento   Conclusión: Los enemigos de Daniel fueron ejecutados, y el rey de Persia alabó al Dios de Daniel como el Dios vivo (6:23 - 28)

^6:24Y el rey mandó; y fueran traídos aquellos hombres que habían acusado a Daniel.

Y fueron echados en el foso de los leones: ellos, sus hijos y sus esposas.

Y los leones se apoderaron de ellos; y quebraron todos sus huesos antes ellos llegaron al fondo del foso.

¶El complemento   El rey alabó a Jehová, el Dios vivo, quien libró a Daniel del poder de los leones (6:25 - 28)

^6:25Entonces el rey Darío escribió a todos los pueblos, naciones, y lenguas, que habitan en toda la tierra, “Paz os sea multiplicada.

^6:26De parte mía es puesta ordenanza, que en todo el señorío de mi reino todos teman y tiemblen ante la presencia del Dios de Daniel: porque él es el Dios viviente y permanece por la eternidad, y su reino no será destruido, y su señorío permanecerá hasta el fin.

^6:27Él entrega y rescata, y hace señales y maravillas en el Cielo y en la tierra;

quien ha entregado a daniel del poder de los leones”.

^6:28Y este Daniel fue prosperado durante el reinado de Darío, y durante el reinado de Ciro, el Persa.
