Leviticus, Chapter 2.3: Daily sanctification to God for the priests of Jehovah under the Old Covenant (21:1 - 22:33)

^21:2But for his kin that is near to him, that is, for his mother, for his father, for his son, for his daughter, for his brother; ^21:3and for his sister a virgin, that is near to him, which has had no husband: he may be defiled for her.

^21:4But he shall not defile himself, being a leader among his people, to profane himself.

^21:5They shall not make baldness upon their head; neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

^21:6They shall be holy to their God, and not profane the Name of their God: for they offer the offerings of Jehovah made by fire, and the bread of their God; therefore they shall be holy.

^21:7They shall not take a wife that is a prostitute, or profane; neither shall they take a woman divorced from her husband: for he is holy to his God. ^21:8Therefore you shall sanctify him: for he offers the bread of your God. He shall be holy to you: for I Jehovah which sanctifies you, am holy.

^21:9And the daughter of any priest, if she profanes herself by playing the whore, she profanes her father; therefore she shall be burned with fire.

^21:10And he that is the high priest among his brethren (upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments) shall not uncover his head, nor tear his clothes.

^21:11He shall not go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother; ^21:12neither shall he go out of the Sanctuary, nor profane the Sanctuary of his God: for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him; I am Jehovah.

^21:13And he shall take a wife in her virginity. ^21:14A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or a prostitute: these shall he not take. But he shall take a virgin of his own people to be his wife; ^21:15neither shall he profane his seed among his people: for I Jehovah do sanctify him.’”

^21:16And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, ^21:17“Speak to Aaron, saying, ‘Whosoever he is of your seed in their generations that has any blemish: let him not approach to offer the bread of his God: ^21:18for whatsoever man he is that has a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or lame, or he that has a flat nose, or anything superfluous, ^21:19or a man that is broken-footed, or broken handed, ^21:20or hunchbacked, or a dwarf, or that has a blemish in his eye, or is scurvy, or scabbed, or has his testicles broken: ^21:21no man that has a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come near to offer the offerings of Jehovah made by fire; he has a blemish; he shall not come near to offer the bread of his God. ^21:22He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy. ^21:23Only he shall not go into the veil, nor come near to the altar, because he has a blemish, so that he does not profane my sanctuaries: for I Jehovah do sanctify them.’”

^21:24And Moses told it to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel.

^22:1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, ^22:2“Speak to Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they do not profane my holy Name in those things that they hallow to me; I am Jehovah. ^22:3Say to them, ‘Whosoever he is of all your seed among your generations, that goes to the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow to Jehovah, having his uncleanness upon him, that person shall be cut off from my presence; I am Jehovah.

^22:4Whatsoever man of the seed of Aaron is a leper, or has a running issue: he shall not eat of the holy things, until he is clean. And whoso touches anything that is unclean by the dead, or a man whose seed goes from him, ^22:5or whosoever touches any creeping thing, whereby he may be made unclean, or a man of whom he may take uncleanness, whatsoever uncleanness he has: ^22:6the person which has touched any such shall be unclean until evening, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he washes his flesh with water. ^22:7And when the sun is down, he shall be clean; and afterwards he shall eat of the holy things, because it is his food. ^22:8That which dies of itself, or is torn by beasts, he shall not eat to defile himself with it; I am Jehovah.

^22:9They shall therefore keep my Ordinance, lest they bear sin for it, and therefore die, if they profane it; I Jehovah do sanctify them. ^22:10No stranger shall eat of the holy thing; a visitor of the priest, or a hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing. ^22:11But if the priest buys any person with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his food. ^22:12If the priest's daughter also is married to a stranger, she may not eat of an offering of the holy things. ^22:13But if the priest's daughter is a widow, or divorced, and has no child, and has returned to her father's house, as in her youth, she shall eat of her father's food; but no stranger shall eat of it. ^22:14And if a man eats the holy thing unintentionally, then he shall put twenty percent of it unto it, and shall give it to the priest with the holy thing. ^22:15And they shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, which they offer to Jehovah, ^22:16nor allow them to bear the iniquity of trespass, when they eat their holy things: for I Jehovah do sanctify them.’”

^22:17And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, ^22:18“Speak to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘Whatsoever he is of the house of Israel, or of the strangers in Israel, that will offer his offering for all his vows, and for all his freewill offerings, which they will offer to Jehovah for a burnt offering, ^22:19you shall offer at your own will a male without blemish, of the beeves, of the sheep, or of the goats.

^22:20But whatsoever has a blemish, that shall you not offer: for it shall not be acceptable for you.

^22:21And whosoever offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to Jehovah to accomplish his vow, or a freewill offering in beeves or sheep, it shall be perfect to be accepted: no blemish shall be in it. ^22:22Blind, or broken, or maimed, or having a running sore, or scurvy, or scabbed: you shall not offer these to Jehovah, nor make an offering by fire of them upon the altar to Jehovah. ^22:23Either a young bull or a lamb that has anything superfluous or lacking in his parts, you may offer that for a freewill offering; but for a vow it shall not be accepted.

^22:24You shall not offer to Jehovah that which is bruised, or crushed, or broken, or cut; neither shall you make any offering of it in your land.

^22:25Neither from a stranger's hand shall you offer the bread of your God of any of these. Because their corruption is in them, and blemishes are in them; they shall not be accepted for you.’”

¶Complement   You shall not profane the holy Name of Jehovah (22:26 - 33)

^22:26And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, ^22:27“When a young bull, or a sheep, or a goat, is born, then it shall be seven days under the mother; and from the eighth day and thenceforth it shall be accepted for an offering made by fire to Jehovah. ^22:28And whether it is a cow or ewe, you shall not kill both it and her young in the same day.

^22:29And when you will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to Jehovah, offer it at your own will. ^22:30On the same day it shall be eaten up; you shall leave none of it until the next day; I am Jehovah.

^22:31Therefore you shall keep my Commandments, and do them; I am Jehovah.

^22:32Neither shall you profane my holy Name, but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel.

I am Jehovah who makes you holy, ^22:33that brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God; I am Jehovah.”

^22:1Y habló Jehová a Moisés, diciendo, ^22:2“Di a Aarón y a sus hijos, que se abstengan de las cosas santas de los hijos de Israel, y que no profanen mi santo Nombre en lo que ellos me santifican; yo Jehová. ^22:3Diles, ‘Todo varón de toda vuestra simiente en vuestras generaciones que se acercare a las cosas santas que los hijos de Israel consagran a Jehová, teniendo inmundicia sobre sí, de delante de mí será cortada su alma; yo Jehová.

^22:4Cualquier varón de la simiente de Aarón que fuere leproso, o padeciere flujo, no comerá de las cosas santas hasta que esté limpio; y el que tocare cualquiera cosa inmunda por contacto de cadáver, o el varón que hubiere tenido derramamiento de semen; ^22:5o el varón que hubiere tocado cualquier animal por el cual será inmundo, u hombre por el cual venga a ser inmundo, conforme a cualquiera inmundicia suya; ^22:6la persona que lo tocare, será inmunda hasta la tarde, y no comerá de las cosas santas antes que haya lavado su carne con agua. ^22:7Y cuando el sol se pusiere, será limpio; y después comerá las cosas santas: porque su pan es. ^22:8Mortecino ni despedazado por fiera no comerá, contaminándose en ello; yo Jehová.

^22:9Guarden, pues, mi Ordenanza, y no lleven pecado por ello, no sea que así mueran cuando la profanaren; yo Jehová que los santifico. ^22:10Ningún extraño comerá cosa santa; el huésped del sacerdote, ni el jornalero, no comerá cosa santa. ^22:11Pero si el sacerdote comprare persona con su dinero, ésta comerá de ella, y el nacido en su casa; éstos comerán de su alimento. ^22:12Si la hija del sacerdote también se casare con varón extraño, ella no comerá de la ofrenda de las cosas santas. ^22:13Pero si la hija del sacerdote fuere viuda, o repudiada, y no tuviere hijos, y se hubiere vuelto a la casa de su padre, como en su juventud, podrá comer del pan de su padre; pero ningún extraño comerá de él. ^22:14Y el que por yerro comiere cosa santa, añadirá a ella una quinta parte, y la dará al sacerdote con la cosa santa. ^22:15No profanarán, pues, las cosas santas de los hijos de Israel, las cuales apartan para Jehová: ^22:16y no les harán llevar la iniquidad del pecado, comiendo las cosas santas de ellos: porque yo Jehová soy el que los santifico’”.

^22:21Y cualquiera que ofreciere sacrificio de paz a Jehová para cumplir su voto, u ofrenda voluntaria, sea de vacas o de ovejas, sin defecto será acepto; no ha de haber en él falta. ^22:22Ciego, o perniquebrado, o mutilado, o verrugoso, o sarnoso o roñoso, no ofreceréis éstos a Jehová, ni de ellos pondréis ofrenda encendida sobre el altar de Jehová. ^22:23Buey o carnero que tenga de más o de menos, podrás ofrecer por ofrenda voluntaria; pero por voto no será acepto.

^22:24No ofreceréis a Jehová aquello que esté herido, dañado, desgarrado o cortado, ni en vuestra tierra lo haréis.

^22:25Y de mano de hijo de extranjero no ofreceréis el pan de vuestro Dios de todas estas cosas: porque su corrupción está en ellas: hay en ellas falta, no se os aceptarán’”.

^22:26Y habló Jehová a Moisés, diciendo, ^22:27“El buey, o el cordero, o la cabra, cuando naciere, siete días estará mamando de su madre: pero desde el octavo día en adelante será acepto para ofrenda de sacrificio encendido a Jehová. ^22:28Y sea vaca u oveja, no degollaréis a ella y su cría en un mismo día.

^22:29Y cuando ofreciereis sacrificio de acción de gracias a Jehová, voluntariamente lo sacrificaréis. ^22:30En el mismo día se comerá; no dejaréis de él para otro día; yo Jehová.

^22:31Guardad, pues, mis Mandamientos, y ponedlos por obra; yo Jehová.

^22:32Y no amancilléis mi santo Nombre, y yo me santificaré en medio de los hijos de Israel.

Yo Jehová que os santifico; ^22:33que os saqué de la tierra de Egipto, para ser vuestro Dios; yo Jehová”.
