^3:7And Jehovah said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters: for I know their sorrows. ^3:8And I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a large and good land, to a land flowing with milk and honey: to the place of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

^3:9Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to me; and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.

^3:10Now therefore, come, and I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring forth my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”

^3:13And Moses said to God, “Behold, when I come to the children of Israel, and shall say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you’; and they shall say to me, ‘What is his name?’, what shall I say to them?” ^3:14And God said to Moses, “I AM THAT I AM.” And he said, “Thus shall you say to the children of Israel: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” ^3:15And God said moreover to Moses, “Thus shall you say to the children of Israel: ‘Jehovah God of your fathers (the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob) has sent me to you. This is my Name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations.’ ^3:16Go and gather the elders of Israel together, and say to them, ‘Jehovah God of your fathers (the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob) appeared to me, saying, ‘I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt. ^3:17And I have said, ‘I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey’’; ^3:18and they shall give heed to your voice. And you shall come, you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt; and you shall say to him, ‘Jehovah, God of the Hebrews, has met with us. And now, please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to Jehovah our God.’ ^3:19And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go: no, not by a mighty hand. ^3:20And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in its midst; and after that he will let you go. ^3:21And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. And it shall come to pass, that, when you go, you shall not go empty; ^3:22but every woman shall borrow of her neighbor, and of her that sojourns in her house: jewelry of silver, jewelry of gold, and garments; and you shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and you shall plunder the Egyptians.”

^4:1And Moses answered and said, “But, behold, they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice: for they will say, ‘Jehovah has not appeared to you.’” ^4:2And Jehovah said to him, “What is that in your hand?” And he said, “A rod.” ^4:3And he said, “Cast it on the ground.” And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. ^4:4And Jehovah said to Moses, “Put forth your hand, and take it by the tail” (and he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand), ^4:5“that they may believe that Jehovah God of their fathers (the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob) has appeared to you.” ^4:6And Jehovah furthermore said to him, “Now put your hand into your bosom.” And he put his hand into his bosom; and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow. ^4:7And he said, “Put your hand into your bosom again.” And he put his hand into his bosom again, and plucked it out of his bosom; and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh. ^4:8“And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe you; neither listen to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign. ^4:9And it shall come to pass, if they will also not believe these two signs; neither listen to your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land; and the water which you take out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.”

^4:10And Moses said to Jehovah, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent; neither before, nor since you have spoken to your servant; but I am slow of speech, and slow of tongue.” ^4:11And Jehovah said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, or the deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, Jehovah? ^4:12Now therefore go; and I will be with your mouth; and I will teach you what you shall say.”

^4:13And he said, “O my Lord, please send by the hand of him whom you will send.” ^4:14And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Moses, and he said, “Is not Aaron the Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he is coming forth to meet you; and when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart. ^4:15And you shall speak to him, and put words in his mouth. And I will be with your mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what you shall do. ^4:16And he shall be your spokesman to the people; and he shall be, even he shall be to you in place of a mouth; and you shall be to him in the place of God. ^4:17And you shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do signs.”

But I will harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go. ^4:22And you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says Jehovah: ‘Israel is my son, even my firstborn. ^4:23And I say to you: let my son go, that he may serve me. And if you refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay your son, even your firstborn.’’”

^4:24And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that Jehovah met him, and sought to kill him. ^4:25Then Zipporah took a sharp stone; and she cut off the foreskin of her son. And she cast it at his feet; and she said, “Surely you are a bloody husband to me!” ^4:26So he let him go. Then she said, “You are a bloody husband, because of the circumcision.”

^4:27And Jehovah said to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” And he went, and met him in the mount of God; and he kissed him.

^4:30And Aaron spoke all the words, which Jehovah had spoken to Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people; and the people believed.

^4:31And when they heard that Jehovah had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.

^5:4And the king of Egypt said to them, “Why do you, Moses and Aaron, hinder the people from their works? Go to your burdens!”

^5:5And Pharaoh said, “Behold, the people of the land now are many; and you make them rest from their burdens.”

^5:6And the same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying, ^5:7“You shall no longer give the people straw to make bricks, as before; let them go and gather straw for themselves. ^5:8And the same quota of bricks, which they made before, you shall lay upon them; you shall not diminish any of it: for they are lazy; therefore they cry, saying, ‘Let us go to sacrifice to our God!’ ^5:9Let more work be laid upon the men, that they may labor in it; and let them not regard vain words.”

^5:12So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw. ^5:13And the taskmasters hurried them, saying, “Fulfill your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw!”

^5:14And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten. And the taskmasters demanded, “Why have you not fulfilled your task in making bricks both yesterday and today, as before?!”

^5:15Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried to Pharaoh, saying, “Why do you deal this way with your servants? ^5:16No straw is given to your servants, but they say to us, ‘Make bricks.’ And, behold, your servants are beaten, but the fault is in your own people.” ^5:17But he said, “You are lazy, you are lazy! Therefore you say, ‘Let us go to do sacrifice to Jehovah.’ ^5:18Now therefore, go and work: for no straw shall be given you. Yet you shall deliver the same quota of bricks.”

^5:19And the officers of the children of Israel saw that they were in an evil situation, after it was said, “You shall not diminish any from your bricks of your daily task.” ^5:20And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from the presence of Pharaoh; ^5:21and they said to them, “Jehovah look upon you and judge, because you have made our scent to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.”

^5:22And Moses returned to Jehovah, and he said, “Lord, why have you treated this people so poorly? ^6:2And God spoke to Moses, and said to him, “I am Jehovah; ^6:3and I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, by the Name of God Almighty; but by my Name Jehovah was I not also known to them? ^6:4And I have also established my Covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, in which they were strangers. ^6:5And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in slavery; and I have remembered my Covenant. ^6:6Therefore say to the children of Israel, ‘I am Jehovah; and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians; and I will rid you out of their slavery; and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments. ^6:7And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be God to you. And you shall know that I am Jehovah your God, which brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. ^6:8And I will bring you into the land, concerning which I swore to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it to you for an inheritance; I am Jehovah.’”

^6:9And Moses spoke in this manner to the children of Israel; but they did not listen to Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel slavery.

^6:10And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, ^6:11“Go in and speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.” ^6:12And Moses spoke before Jehovah, saying, “Behold, the children of Israel have not listened to me. How then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips?”

^6:13And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron; and he gave them a charge to the children of Israel, and to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.

^4:10Entonces dijo Moisés a Jehová, “¡Ay Señor! Yo no soy de palabras elocuentes, ni de antes, ni aun desde que tú hablas a tu siervo: porque soy tardo en el habla y torpe de lengua”. ^4:11Y Jehová le respondió, “¿Quién dio la boca al hombre? ¿O quién hizo al mudo y al sordo, al que ve y al ciego? ¿No soy yo, Jehová? ^4:12Ahora pues, ve, que yo seré con tu boca, y te enseñaré lo que has de decir”.

^4:13Y él dijo, “¡Ay Señor! Envía por mano del que has de enviar”. ^4:14Entonces Jehová se enojó contra Moisés, y dijo, “¿No es Aarón, el Levita, tu hermano? yo sé que él habla bien. Y además, he aquí que él saldrá a recibirte, y al verte, se alegrará en su corazón. ^4:15Tú hablarás a él, y pondrás en su boca las palabras, y yo seré con tu boca y con la suya, y os enseñaré lo que habéis de hacer. ^4:16Y él hablará por ti al pueblo; y él te será a ti en lugar de boca, y tú serás para él en lugar de Dios. ^4:17Y tomarás esta vara en tu mano, con la cual harás las señales”.

¶Lo opuesto   Moisés regresó a Egipto con su esposa e hijos (4:18 - 26)

^4:18Así se fue Moisés, y volviendo a su suegro Jetro, le dijo, “Iré ahora, y volveré a mis hermanos que están en Egipto, para ver si aún viven”. Y Jetro dijo a Moisés, “Ve en paz”.

^4:19Dijo también Jehová a Moisés en Madián,

^4:21Y dijo Jehová a Moisés, “Ve, y vuélvete a Egipto: porque han muerto todos los que procuraban tu muerte”.

^4:20Entonces Moisés tomó su esposa y sus hijos, y los puso sobre un asno, y se volvió a tierra de Egipto. Tomó también Moisés la vara de Dios en su mano.

^4:21Y dijo Jehová a Moisés, “Cuando hubiereis vuelto a Egipto, mira que hagas delante de Faraón todas las maravillas que he puesto en tu mano; pero yo endureceré su corazón, de modo que no dejará ir al pueblo. ^4:22Y dirás a Faraón, ‘Así dice Jehová, ‘Israel es mi hijo, mi primogénito. ^4:23Ya te he dicho que dejes ir a mi hijo, para que me sirva; pero no has querido dejarlo ir, he aquí yo voy a matar a tu hijo, tu primogénito’’”.

^4:24Y aconteció en el camino, que en una posada le salió al encuentro Jehová, y quiso matarlo. ^4:25Entonces Séfora tomó un afilado pedernal, y cortó el prepucio de su hijo, y lo echó a sus pies, diciendo, “¡A la verdad tú me eres un esposo de sangre!”. ^4:26Así le dejó luego ir. Y ella dijo, “Eres esposo de sangre, a causa de la circuncisión”.

¶Lo opuesto   Moisés y Aarón reunieron con los ancianos de Israel (4:27 - 31)

^4:27Y Jehová dijo a Aarón, “Ve al desierto al encuentro de Moisés”. Y él fue, y lo encontró en el monte de Dios, y le besó.

^4:28Entonces contó Moisés a Aarón todas las palabras de Jehová que le enviaba, y todas las señales que le había dado.

^4:29Y fueron Moisés y Aarón, y reunieron todos los Ancianos de los hijos de Israel.

^4:30Y habló Aarón todas las palabras que Jehová había dicho a Moisés, e hizo las señales delante de los ojos del pueblo; y el pueblo creyó.

^4:31Y oyendo que Jehová había visitado los hijos de Israel, y que había visto su aflicción, se inclinaron y adoraron.

¶El complemento   Faraón rechazó a la demanda de Aarón y Moisés para permitir Israel irse, y hizo el trabajo de la gente aún más difícil (5:1 - 9)

^5:1Después entraron Moisés y Aarón ante Faraón, y le dijeron, “Jehová, el Dios de Israel, dice así, ‘Deja ir a mi pueblo a celebrarme fiesta en el desierto’”. ^5:2Y Faraón respondió, “¿Quién es Jehová, para que yo oiga su voz y deje ir a Israel? Yo no conozco a Jehová; ni tampoco dejaré ir a Israel”.

^5:3Y dijeron, “El Dios de los hebreos nos ha encontrado; iremos, pues, ahora camino de tres días por el desierto, y ofreceremos sacrificios a Jehová nuestro Dios; para que no venga sobre nosotros con pestilencia o con espada”.

^5:4Entonces el rey de Egipto les dijo, “¿Moisés y Aarón, por qué hacéis cesar al pueblo de su obra? ¡Váyanse a vuestros cargos!”.

^5:5Dijo también Faraón, “He aquí el pueblo de la tierra es ahora mucho, y ustedes les hacéis cesar de sus cargos”.

^5:6Y mandó Faraón aquel mismo día a los cuadrilleros del pueblo que le tenían a su cargo, y a sus gobernadores, diciendo, ^5:7“De aquí en adelante no daréis paja al pueblo para hacer ladrillo, como hasta ahora; vayan ellos y recojan por sí mismos la paja. ^5:8Y habéis de ponerles la tarea del ladrillo que hacían antes, y no les disminuiréis nada: porque están ociosos; y por eso levantan la voz, diciendo, ‘¡Vamos y ofrezcamos sacrificios a nuestro Dios!’ ^5:9Agrávese la servidumbre sobre ellos, para que se ocupen en ella; y no atiendan a palabras de mentira”.

¶El complemento   Los oficiales de los hijos de Israel fueron golpeados por no cumplir con sus tareas, y culparon a Moisés y Aarón (5:10 - 21)

^5:10Y saliendo los cuadrilleros del pueblo y sus gobernadores, hablaron al pueblo, diciendo, “Así ha dicho Faraón: ‘Yo no os doy paja. ^5:11¡Id ustedes, y recoged paja donde la hallareis; que nada se disminuirá de vuestra tarea!’”

^5:12Entonces el pueblo se esparció por toda la tierra de Egipto para recoger rastrojo en lugar de paja. ^5:13Y los cuadrilleros los apremiaban, diciendo, “¡Acabad vuestra obra, la tarea del día en su día, como cuando se os daba paja!”.

^5:14Y azotaban a los capataces de los hijos de Israel, que los cuadrilleros de Faraón habían puesto sobre ellos, diciendo, “¡¿Por qué no habéis cumplido vuestra tarea de ladrillo ni ayer ni hoy, como antes?!”.

^5:15Y los capataces de los hijos de Israel vinieron a Faraón, y se quejaron a él, diciendo, “¿Por qué lo haces así con tus siervos? ^5:16No se da paja a tus siervos, y con todo nos dicen, ‘Haced el ladrillo’. Y he aquí tus siervos son azotados, pero la culpa la tiene tu pueblo”. ^5:17Y él respondió, “¡Estáis ociosos, sí, ociosos! Y por eso decís, ‘Vamos y ofrezcamos sacrificios a Jehová’. ^5:18Id, pues, ahora, y trabajad. No se os dará paja, y habéis de entregar la tarea del ladrillo”.

^5:19Entonces los capataces de los hijos de Israel se vieron en aflicción, habiéndoseles dicho, “No se disminuirá nada de vuestro ladrillo, de la tarea de cada día”. ^5:20Y encontrando a Moisés y a Aarón, que estaban a la vista de ellos cuando salían de Faraón, ^5:21les dijeron, “Mire Jehová sobre ustedes, y juzgue; pues habéis hecho heder nuestro olor delante de Faraón y de sus siervos, dándoles la espada en las manos para que nos maten”.

¶U   Jehová confirmó su plan a Moisés para liberar a Israel desde la esclavitud y darles la Tierra Prometida (5:22 - 6:12)

^5:22Entonces Moisés se volvió a Jehová, y dijo, “Señor, ¿por qué has hecho mal a este pueblo? ¿Para qué me enviaste? ^5:23Porque desde que yo vine a Faraón para hablarle en tu Nombre, ha afligido a este pueblo; y tú tampoco has librado a tu pueblo”. ^6:1Entonces Jehová respondió a Moisés, “Ahora verás lo que yo haré a Faraón: porque con mano fuerte los ha de dejar ir; y con mano fuerte los ha de echar de su tierra”.

^6:2Habló todavía Dios a Moisés, y le dijo, “Yo soy Jehová; ^6:3y aparecí a Abraham, a Isaac y a Jacob por el Nombre de Dios Omnipotente. ¿Pero por mi nombre Jehová estaba no también conocido a ellos? ^6:4Y también establecí mi Pacto con ellos, de darles la tierra de Canaán, la tierra en que fueron extranjeros, y en la cual peregrinaron. ^6:5Y asimismo yo he oído el gemido de los hijos de Israel, a quienes hacen servir los egipcios; y me he acordado de mi Pacto. ^6:6Por tanto dirás a los hijos de Israel, ‘Yo soy Jehová; y yo os sacaré de debajo de las cargas de Egipto, y os libraré de su servidumbre, y os redimiré con brazo extendido, y con juicios grandes. ^6:7Y os tomaré por mi pueblo, y seré vuestro Dios. Y ustedes sabréis que yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios, que os saco de debajo de las cargas de Egipto. ^6:8Y os meteré en la tierra, por la cual alcé mi mano que la daría a Abraham, a Isaac y a Jacob; y yo os la daré por heredad: Yo soy Jehová’”.

^6:9De esta manera habló Moisés a los hijos de Israel, pero ellos no escuchaban a Moisés a causa de la congoja de espíritu, y de la dura servidumbre.

^6:10Y habló Jehová a Moisés, diciendo, ^6:11“Entra, y habla a Faraón rey de Egipto, que deje ir de su tierra a los hijos de Israel”. ^6:12Y respondió Moisés delante de Jehová, diciendo, “He aquí, los hijos de Israel no me escuchan. ¿Cómo, pues, me escuchará Faraón, siendo yo de labios incircuncisos?”.

^6:13Entonces Jehová habló a Moisés y a Aarón; y les dio mandamiento para los hijos de Israel, y para Faraón rey de Egipto, para que sacasen a los hijos de Israel de la tierra de Egipto.

^6:14Éstas son las cabezas de las familias de sus padres. Los hijos de Rubén, el primogénito de Israel: Enoc y Falú, Hezrón y Carmi; éstas son las familias de Rubén.

^6:15Los hijos de Simeón: Jemuel, y Jamín, y Ohad, y Jaquín, y Zohar, y Saúl, hijo de una cananea; éstas son las familias de Simeón.

^6:16Y éstos son los nombres de los hijos de Leví por sus linajes: Gersón, y Coat, y Merari;

y los años de la vida de Leví fueron ciento treinta y siete años.

^6:17Y los hijos de Gersón: Libni, y Simeí, por sus familias. ^6:18Y los hijos de Coat: Amram, e Izhar, y Hebrón, y Uziel. Y los años de la vida de Coat fueron ciento treinta y tres años. ^6:19Y los hijos de Merari: Mahali, y Musi. Éstas son las familias de Leví por sus linajes.

^6:20Y Amram tomó por esposa a Jocabed su tía, la cual le dio a luz a Aarón y a Moisés. Y los años de la vida de Amram fueron ciento treinta y siete años.

^6:21Y los hijos de Izhar: Coré, Nefeg, y Zicri. ^6:22Y los hijos de Uziel: Misael, y Elizafán y Zitri.

^6:23Y tomó Aarón por esposa a Elisabet, hija de Aminadab, hermana de Naasón; la cual le dio a luz a Nadab, Abiú, Eleazar e Itamar. ^6:24Y los hijos de Coré: Asir, Elcana y Abiasaf; éstas son las familias de los coreítas.

^6:25Y Eleazar, hijo de Aarón, tomó para sí esposa de las hijas de Futiel, la cual le dio a luz a Finees: y éstas son las cabezas de los padres de los levitas por sus familias.

^6:26Éste es aquel Aarón y aquel Moisés, a los cuales Jehová había dicho, “Sacad a los hijos de Israel de la tierra de Egipto por sus escuadrones”. ^6:27Éstos son los que hablaron a Faraón rey de Egipto, para sacar de Egipto a los hijos de Israel. Moisés y Aarón fueron éstos.
