^4:44And this is the Law which Moses set before the children of Israel. ^4:45These are the Testimonies, the Statutes, and the Judgments, which Moses spoke to the children of Israel, after they came forth out of Egypt, ^4:46on this side of Jordan, in the valley next to Beth-peor; in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel smote, after they came forth out of Egypt; ^4:47and they possessed his land, and the land of Og king of Bashan, two kings of the Amorites, which were on this side of Jordan toward the sunrise; ^4:48from Aroer, which is by the bank of the river Arnon, even to mount Sion, which is Hermon; ^4:49and all the plain on this side of Jordan eastward, even to the sea of the plain, under the springs of Pisgah. ^5:1And Moses called all Israel; and said to them, “Hear, O Israel, the Statutes and Judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that you may learn them, and keep, and do them.

^5:2Jehovah our God made a Covenant with us in Horeb.

^5:3Jehovah did not make this Covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.

^5:4Jehovah talked with you face to face in the mountain out of the midst of the fire ^5:5(I stood between Jehovah and you at that time, to show you the Word of Jehovah: for you were afraid by reason of the fire, and did not go up into the mountain), saying, ^5:6‘I am Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery: ^5:7you shall have no other gods before me. ^5:8You shall make you no carved image: any likeness of anything that is in Heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water beneath the earth; ^5:9you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them: for I, Jehovah your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, ^5:10and showing mercy to thousands of them that love me and keep my Commandments. ^5:11You shall not take the Name of Jehovah your God in vain: for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that takes his Name in vain. ^5:12Keep the Sabbath day to sanctify it, as Jehovah your God has commanded you. ^5:13Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, ^5:14but the seventh day is the Sabbath of Jehovah your God. In it you shall not do any work; neither you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your man slave, nor your woman slave, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates, that your man slave and your woman slave may rest as well as you. ^5:15And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and that Jehovah your God brought you out from there through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm; therefore Jehovah your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day. ^5:16Honor your father and your mother, as Jehovah your God has commanded you, that your days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with you, in the land which Jehovah your God is giving you. ^5:17You shall not kill; ^5:18nor shall you commit adultery; ^5:19nor shall you steal; ^5:20nor shall you bear false witness against your neighbor; ^5:21nor shall you desire your neighbor's wife; nor shall you covet your neighbor's house, his field, nor his man slave, nor his woman slave, his ox, nor his donkey, nor any thing that is your neighbor's.’

^5:22Jehovah spoke these words to all your assembly in the mountain out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice; and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tablets of stone, and delivered them to me.

¶Opposite   Jehovah appointed Moses to receive his Commandments and give them to the people, because of their fear of Him (5:23 - 33)

^5:23And it came to pass, when you heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness (for the mountain burned with fire), that you came near to me, even all the heads of your tribes and your elders; ^5:24and you said, ‘Behold, Jehovah our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire; we have seen this day that God talks with man, and he lives.

^5:25Now therefore why should we die? For this great fire will consume us. If we hear the voice of Jehovah our God anymore, then we shall die: ^5:26for who is there of all flesh, that has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived? ^5:27You go near, and hear all that Jehovah our God shall say; and you speak to us all that Jehovah our God shall speak to you; and we will hear it, and do it.’

^5:28And Jehovah heard the voice of your words, when you spoke to me; and Jehovah said to me, ‘I have heard the voice of the words of these people, which they have spoken to you; they have said well all that they have spoken. ^5:29O that there were such a heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my Commandments always; that it might be well with them, and with their children forever!

^5:30Go say to them, ‘Go into your tents again.’ ^5:31But as for you, stand here by me, and I will speak to you all the Commandments, the Statutes, and the Judgments, which you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land that I give them to possess it.’

^5:32Therefore, you shall observe to do as Jehovah your God has commanded you. You shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. ^5:33You shall walk in all the ways which Jehovah your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.

§Complement   Body: The Commandments, the Statutes, and the Judgments of Jehovah would not allow Israel to mingle with other nations (6:1 - 7:8)

^6:1Now these are the Commandments, the Statutes, and the Judgments, which Jehovah your God commanded to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you are going to possess it; ^6:2that you might fear Jehovah your God, to keep all his Statutes and his Commandments, which I command you: you, your son, and your son's son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged. ^6:3Therefore hear, O Israel; and observe to do them, that it may be well with you, and that you may increase mightily, as Jehovah God of your fathers has promised you, in the land that flows with milk and honey.

^6:4Hear, O Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah; ^6:5and you shall love Jehovah your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might. ^6:6And these words, which I command you this day, shall be in your heart. ^6:7And you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. ^6:8And you shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. ^6:9And you shall write them upon the posts of your house, and on your gates.

^6:10And it shall be, when Jehovah your God shall have brought you into the land which he swore to your fathers: to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; to give you great and good cities (which you did not build), ^6:11and houses full of all good things (which you filled not), and wells dug (which you dug not), and vineyards and olive trees (which you planted not): when you shall have eaten and are full, ^6:12then beware lest you forget Jehovah, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. ^6:13You shall fear Jehovah your God, and serve him, and shall swear by his Name. ^6:14You shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you: ^6:15for Jehovah your God is a jealous God among you, lest the anger of Jehovah your God is kindled against you, and destroy you from off the face of the earth. ^6:16You shall not tempt Jehovah your God, as you tempted him in Massah. ^6:17But you shall diligently observe the Commandments of Jehovah your God, his Testimonies, and his Statutes, which he has commanded you. ^6:18And you shall do right and good in the sight of Jehovah, that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land which Jehovah swore to your fathers, ^6:19to cast out all your enemies from before you, as Jehovah has spoken.

^6:20And when your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What do the Testimonies, the Statutes, and the Judgments mean, which Jehovah our God has commanded you?’ ^6:21Then you shall say to your son, ‘We were Pharaoh's slaves in Egypt; and Jehovah brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand. ^6:22And Jehovah showed signs and wonders, great and severe, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes. ^6:23And he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he swore to our fathers. ^6:24And Jehovah commanded us to do all these Statutes, to fear Jehovah our God for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. ^6:25And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these Commandments before Jehovah our God, as he has commanded us.’

^7:1When Jehovah your God shall bring you into the land where you are going to possess it, and has cast out many nations before you: the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you; ^7:2and when Jehovah your God shall deliver them before you, you shall smite them, and utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them, nor show mercy to them; ^7:3neither shall you make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to his son, nor shall you take his daughter to your son: ^7:4for they will turn your son away from following me, that they may serve other gods; in this manner will the anger of Jehovah be kindled against you, and suddenly destroy you. ^7:5But you shall deal with them in this manner: you shall destroy their altars, break down their statues, cut down their images of Asherah, and burn their carved images with fire. ^7:6For you are a holy people to Jehovah your God; Jehovah your God has chosen you to be a special people to himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. ^7:7Jehovah did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because you were more in number than any other people: for you were the fewest of all people. ^7:8But because Jehovah loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn to your fathers, has Jehovah brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of slaves, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

^7:9Know therefore that Jehovah your God, he is the true God, the faithful God, who keeps Covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his Commandments to a thousand generations. ^7:10And he repays them that hate him to their face, to destroy them; he will not be slack to him that hates him: he will repay him to his face.

^7:11You shall therefore keep the Commandments, the Statutes, and the Judgments, which I command you this day, to do them. ^7:12Therefore it shall come to pass, if you pay attention to these Judgments, and observe, and do them, that Jehovah your God shall keep to you the Covenant and the mercy which he swore to your fathers. ^7:13And he will love you, and bless you, and multiply you; he will also bless the fruit of your womb, and the fruit of your land: your grain, your wine, and your oil; the increase of your cows, and the flocks of your sheep, in the land which he swore to your fathers to give you. ^7:14You shall be blessed above all people; there shall not be male or female barren among you, neither among your cattle. ^7:15And Jehovah will take away from you all sickness, and none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you know, will he put upon you; but will lay them upon all them that hate you. ^7:16And you shall consume all the people whom Jehovah your God shall deliver to you. Your eye shall have no pity upon them; neither shall you serve their gods: for that would be a snare to you.

^7:17If you shall say in your heart, ‘These nations are more than I. How can I dispossess them?’ ^7:18You shall not be afraid of them, but shall well remember what Jehovah your God did to Pharaoh, and to all Egypt: ^7:19the great trials which your eyes saw, and the signs, the wonders, the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby Jehovah your God brought you out. In the same manner shall Jehovah your God do to all the people of whom you are afraid. ^7:20Moreover Jehovah your God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from you, have been destroyed.

^7:21You shall not be frightened at them: for Jehovah your God is among you, a mighty and dreadful God. ^7:22And Jehovah your God will put out those nations before you by little and little; but you may not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon you. ^7:23But Jehovah your God shall deliver them to you, and he shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they have been completely destroyed. ^7:24And he shall deliver their kings into your hand, and you shall destroy their name from under heaven; no man shall be able to stand before you, until you have destroyed them.

^7:25You shall burn the carved images of their gods with fire. You shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it to you, lest you become snared in it: for it is an abomination to Jehovah your God. ^7:26Neither shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you become a cursed thing like it. You shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly abhor it: for it is a cursed thing.

¶Complement   Remember Jehovah your God, because He is like a great Father to you (8:1 - 20)

^8:1All the Commandments which I command you this day you shall observe to do, that you may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which Jehovah swore to your fathers.

^8:2And you shall remember all the way which Jehovah your God led you these forty years in the wilderness: to humble you, and to test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his Commandments, or not. ^8:3And he humbled you, and allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you knew not; neither did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread only, but by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of Jehovah does man live. ^8:4Your garments did not grow old upon you; neither did your foot swell, these forty years.

^8:5You shall also consider in your heart, that as a man disciplines his son, so Jehovah your God disciplines you; ^8:6therefore you shall keep the Commandments of Jehovah your God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him: ^8:7for Jehovah your God is bringing you into a good land: a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; ^8:8a land of wheat, barley, vines, fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of olive oil, and honey; ^8:9a land where you shall eat bread without scarcity. You shall not lack any thing in it: a land whose stones have iron ore; and out of whose hills you may dig copper.

^8:10When you have eaten and are full, then you shall thank Jehovah your God for the good land that he has given you. ^8:11Beware that you do not forget Jehovah your God, in not keeping his Commandments, his Judgments, and his Statutes, which I command you this day; ^8:12lest when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwelt in them; ^8:13and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied, ^8:14then your heart is proud; and you forget Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery; ^8:15who led you through that great and dreadful wilderness, in which were fiery serpents, scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought you forth water out of the rock of flint; ^8:16who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that he might humble you, and that he might test you, to do you good at your latter end; ^8:17and you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand has acquired this wealth.’ ^8:18But you shall remember Jehovah your God: for it is he that gives you power to get wealth, that he may establish his Covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

^8:19And it shall be, if you do at all forget Jehovah your God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish. ^8:20As the nations which Jehovah is destroying before your face, so shall you also perish, because you would not be obedient to the voice of Jehovah your God.

^5:4Cara a cara habló Jehová con ustedes en el monte de en medio del fuego ^5:5(yo estaba entonces entre Jehová y ustedes, para declararos la Palabra de Jehová: porque ustedes tuvisteis temor del fuego, y no subisteis al monte), diciendo, ^5:6‘Yo soy Jehová tu Dios, que te saqué de la tierra de Egipto, de casa de servidumbre: ^5:7no tendrás dioses ajenos delante de mí. ^5:8No harás para ti escultura, ni imagen alguna de cosa que está arriba en el Cielo, o abajo en la tierra, o en las aguas debajo de la tierra. ^5:9No te inclinarás a ellas ni les servirás: porque yo soy Jehová tu Dios, fuerte, celoso, que visito la iniquidad de los padres sobre los hijos hasta la tercera y cuarta generación de los que me aborrecen, ^5:10y que hago misericordia a millares de los que me aman y guardan mis Mandamientos. ^5:11No tomarás en vano el Nombre de Jehová tu Dios: porque Jehová no dará por inocente al que tomare en vano su Nombre. ^5:12Guarda el día sábado para santificarlo, como Jehová tu Dios te ha mandado. ^5:13Seis días trabajarás y harás toda tu obra: ^5:14pero el séptimo día es el sábado de Jehová tu Dios: no harás en él obra alguna, tú, ni tu hijo, ni tu hija, ni tu siervo, ni tu sierva, ni tu buey, ni tu asno, ni ningún animal tuyo, ni tu extranjero que está dentro de tus puertas; para que descanse tu siervo y tu sierva como tú. ^5:15Y acuérdate que fuiste siervo en tierra de Egipto, y que Jehová tu Dios te sacó de allá con mano fuerte y brazo extendido: por lo cual Jehová tu Dios te ha mandado que guardes el día de reposo. ^5:16Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, como Jehová tu Dios te ha mandado, para que sean prolongados tus días, y para que te vaya bien sobre la tierra que Jehová tu Dios te da. ^5:17No matarás; ^5:18no cometerás adulterio; ^5:19no hurtarás; ^5:20no dirás falso testimonio contra tu prójimo; ^5:21no codiciarás la esposa de tu prójimo, ni desearás la casa de tu prójimo, ni su tierra, ni su siervo, ni su sierva, ni su buey, ni su asno, ni ninguna cosa que sea de tu prójimo’.

^5:23Y aconteció que cuando oísteis la voz de en medio de las tinieblas, y visteis al monte que ardía en fuego, os acercasteis a mí, todos los príncipes de vuestras tribus, y vuestros Ancianos; ^5:24y dijisteis, ‘He aquí, Jehová nuestro Dios nos ha mostrado su gloria y su grandeza, y hemos oído su voz de en medio del fuego: hoy hemos visto que Jehová habla al hombre, y éste vive.

^5:25¿Ahora pues, por qué moriremos? Porque este gran fuego nos consumirá. Si oyéremos otra vez la voz de Jehová nuestro Dios, moriremos. ^5:26¿Porque qué es toda carne, para que oiga la voz del Dios viviente que habla de en medio del fuego, como nosotros la oímos, y viva? ^5:27Acércate tú, y oye todas las cosas que Jehová nuestro Dios diga; y tú nos dirás todo lo que Jehová nuestro Dios te diga, y nosotros lo oiremos y lo haremos’.

^5:28Y oyó Jehová la voz de vuestras palabras, cuando me hablabais; y me dijo Jehová, ‘He oído la voz de las palabras de este pueblo, que ellos te han hablado: bien está todo lo que han dicho. ^5:29¡Quién diera que tuviesen tal corazón, que me temiesen, y guardasen todos los días todos mis Mandamientos, para que a ellos y a sus hijos les fuese bien para siempre!

^5:30Ve, diles, ‘Volveos a vuestras tiendas’. ^5:31Y tú quédate aquí conmigo, y te diré todos los Mandamientos, y Estatutos, y Derechos que les has de enseñar, a fin que los pongan ahora por obra en la tierra que yo les doy para poseerla’.

^5:32Mirad, pues, que hagáis como Jehová vuestro Dios os ha mandado: no os apartéis a derecha ni a izquierda. ^5:33Andad en todo camino que Jehová vuestro Dios os ha mandado, para que viváis, y os vaya bien, y tengáis largos días en la tierra que habéis de poseer.

^6:4Oye, Israel: Jehová nuestro Dios, Jehová uno es: ^6:5y amarás a Jehová tu Dios con todo tu corazón, y con toda tu alma, y con todas tus fuerzas. ^6:6Y estas palabras que yo te mando hoy, estarán sobre tu corazón; ^6:7y las repetirás a tus hijos, y hablarás de ellas cuando te sientes en tu casa, y cuando andes por el camino, y al acostarte, y cuando te levantes; ^6:8y las atarás por señal en tu mano, y estarán por frontales entre tus ojos. ^6:9Y las escribirás en los postes de tu casa, y en tus portadas.

^6:10Y será, cuando Jehová tu Dios te hubiere introducido en la tierra que juró a tus padres Abraham, Isaac, y Jacob, que te daría; en ciudades grandes y buenas que tú no edificaste, ^6:11y casas llenas de todo bien, que tú no llenaste, y cisternas cavadas, que tú no cavaste, viñas y olivares que no plantaste; luego que comieres y te saciares, ^6:12guárdate que no te olvides de Jehová, que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de casa de servidumbre. ^6:13A Jehová tu Dios temerás, y a él solo servirás, y por su Nombre jurarás. ^6:14No andaréis en pos de dioses ajenos, de los dioses de los pueblos que están en vuestros contornos: ^6:15porque el Dios celoso, Jehová tu Dios, en medio de ti está; no sea que se encienda el furor de Jehová tu Dios contra ti, y te destruya de sobre la faz de la tierra. ^6:16No tentaréis a Jehová vuestro Dios, como lo tentasteis en Masah. ^6:17Guardaréis diligentemente los Mandamientos de Jehová vuestro Dios, y sus Testimonios y sus Estatutos que te ha mandado. ^6:18Y harás lo recto y bueno en ojos de Jehová, para que te vaya bien, y entres y poseas la buena tierra que Jehová juró a tus padres; ^6:19para echar a todos tus enemigos de delante de ti, como Jehová ha dicho.

^6:20Y cuando mañana te preguntare tu hijo, diciendo, ‘¿Qué significan los Testimonios y Estatutos y Derechos que Jehová nuestro Dios os ha mandado?’ ^6:21Entonces dirás a tu hijo: Nosotros éramos siervos de Faraón en Egipto, y Jehová nos sacó de Egipto con mano fuerte; ^6:22y Jehová mostró señales y milagros grandes y terribles en Egipto, sobre Faraón y sobre toda su casa, delante de nuestros ojos; ^6:23y nos sacó de allá, para traernos y darnos la tierra que juró a nuestros padres. ^6:24Y nos mandó Jehová que ejecutásemos todos estos Estatutos, y que temiésemos a Jehová nuestro Dios, para que nos vaya bien todos los días, y para preservarnos la vida, como hasta hoy. ^6:25Y tendremos justicia cuando cuidáremos de poner por obra todos estos Mandamientos delante de Jehová nuestro Dios, como él nos ha mandado.

^7:1Cuando Jehová tu Dios te hubiere introducido en la tierra en la cual tú has de entrar para poseerla, y hubiere echado de delante de ti muchas naciones: al heteo, al gergeseo, y al amorreo, y al cananeo, y al ferezeo, y al heveo, y al jebuseo: siete naciones mayores y más fuertes que tú; ^7:2y cuando Jehová tu Dios las hubiere entregado delante de ti, las herirás; del todo las destruirás; no harás con ellos alianza, ni les tendrás misericordia. ^7:3Y no emparentarás con ellos: no darás tu hija a su hijo, ni tomarás a su hija para tu hijo: ^7:4porque desviará a tu hijo de en pos de mí, y servirán a dioses ajenos; y el furor de Jehová se encenderá sobre ustedes, y te destruirá presto. ^7:5Pero así habéis de hacer con ellos: Sus altares destruiréis, y quebraréis sus estatuas, y cortaréis sus imágenes de Asera, y quemaréis sus esculturas en el fuego: ^7:6porque tú eres pueblo santo a Jehová tu Dios: Jehová tu Dios te ha escogido para serle un pueblo especial, más que todos los pueblos que están sobre la faz de la tierra. ^7:7Jehová no puso su amor sobre ti, ni te escogió, porque fuiste más numeroso que cualquier otro pueblo: para ustedes fuisteis los menos de todas las personas. ^7:8Pero porque Jehová os amó, y quiso guardar el juramento que juró a vuestros padres, os ha sacado Jehová con mano fuerte, y os ha rescatado de casa de servidumbre, de la mano de Faraón, rey de Egipto.

¶El complemento   No tengáis miedo de tus enemigos, porque Jehová vuestro Dios peleará por ustedes (7:9 - 26)

^7:9Conoce, pues, que Jehová tu Dios es Dios, Dios fiel, que guarda el Pacto y la misericordia a los que le aman y guardan sus Mandamientos, hasta las mil generaciones. ^7:10Y que da el pago en su cara al que le aborrece, destruyéndolo; y no lo dilatará al que le odia, en su cara le dará el pago.

^7:11Guarda por tanto los Mandamientos, Estatutos y Derechos que yo te mando hoy que cumplas. ^7:12Y será que, si obedeciereis a estos decretos, y los guardares y los pusieres por obra, Jehová tu Dios guardará contigo el Pacto y la misericordia que juró a tus padres; ^7:13y te amará, y te bendecirá, y te multiplicará, y bendecirá el fruto de tu vientre, y el fruto de tu tierra, y tu grano, y tu mosto, y tu aceite, la cría de tus vacas, y los rebaños de tus ovejas, en la tierra que juró a tus padres que te daría. ^7:14Bendito serás más que todos los pueblos; no habrá en ti varón ni hembra estéril, ni en tus bestias. ^7:15Y quitará Jehová de ti toda enfermedad; y todas las malas plagas de Egipto, que tú conoces, no las pondrá sobre ti, antes las pondrá sobre todos los que te aborrecieren. ^7:16Y consumirás a todos los pueblos que te da Jehová tu Dios; no los perdonará tu ojo; ni servirás a sus dioses: porque te será tropiezo.

^7:17Si dijeres en tu corazón, ‘Estas naciones son más grandes que yo. ¿Cómo las podré desarraigar?’ ^7:18No tengas temor de ellos: acuérdate bien de lo que hizo Jehová tu Dios con Faraón y con todo Egipto; ^7:19de las grandes pruebas que vieron tus ojos, y de las señales y milagros, y de la mano fuerte y brazo extendido con que Jehová tu Dios te sacó: así hará Jehová tu Dios con todos los pueblos de cuya presencia tú temieres. ^7:20Y también enviará Jehová tu Dios sobre ellos avispas, hasta que perezcan los que quedaren, y los que se hubieren escondido de delante de ti.

^7:21No desmayes delante de ellos, que Jehová tu Dios está en medio de ti, Dios grande y terrible. ^7:22Y Jehová tu Dios echará a estas naciones de delante de ti poco a poco; no las podrás acabar luego, no sea que las bestias del campo se aumenten contra ti. ^7:23Pero Jehová tu Dios las entregará delante de ti, y él las quebrantará con grande destrozo, hasta que sean destruidas. ^7:24Y él entregará sus reyes en tu mano, y tú destruirás el nombre de ellos de debajo del cielo; nadie te hará frente hasta que los destruyas.

^7:25Quemarás con fuego las imágenes talladas de sus dioses. No codiciarás la plata ni el oro que hay sobre ellos, ni te lo llevarás, para que no seas enredado en él, porque es abominación a Jehová vuestro Dios. ^7:26Ni traerás una abominación dentro tu casa, para que no seas anatema como ello. Lo detestarás completamente, y completamente lo aborrecerás, porque es cosa maldita.

¶El complemento   Recordad Jehová vuestro Dios, porque él es como un gran padre para ustedes (8:1 - 20)

^8:1Cuidaréis de poner por obra todo Mandamiento que yo os ordeno hoy, para que viváis, y seáis multiplicados, y entréis, y poseáis la tierra, de la cual juró Jehová a vuestros padres.

^8:2Y te acordarás de todo el camino por donde te ha traído Jehová tu Dios estos cuarenta años en el desierto, para afligirte, para probarte, para saber lo que había en tu corazón, si habías de guardar o no sus Mandamientos. ^8:3Y te afligió, y te hizo tener hambre, y te sustentó con maná, comida que no conocías tú, ni tus padres la habían conocido; para hacerte saber que no sólo de pan vivirá el hombre, sino de toda Palabra que sale de la boca de Jehová vivirá el hombre. ^8:4Tu ropa nunca se envejeció sobre ti, ni el pie se te ha hinchado por estos cuarenta años.

^8:5Reconoce asimismo en tu corazón, que como castiga el hombre a su hijo, así Jehová tu Dios te castiga. ^8:6Guardarás, pues, los Mandamientos de Jehová tu Dios, andando en sus caminos, y temiéndole: ^8:7porque Jehová tu Dios te introduce en la buena tierra, tierra de arroyos, de aguas, de fuentes, de abismos que brotan por vegas y montes; ^8:8tierra de trigo y cebada, y de vides, e higueras, y granados; tierra de olivos, de aceite, y de miel; ^8:9tierra en la cual no comerás el pan con escasez, no te faltará nada en ella; tierra que sus piedras son hierro, y cortarás bronce de sus montes.

^8:10Y comerás y te saciarás, y bendecirás a Jehová tu Dios por la buena tierra que te habrá dado. ^8:11Guárdate de que no te olvides de Jehová tu Dios, dejando de observar sus Mandamientos, y sus Derechos y sus Estatutos que yo te ordeno hoy. ^8:12No sea que comas y te sacies, y edifiques buenas casas en que mores, ^8:13y se multipliquen tus vacas y tus ovejas, y se te multiplique la plata y el oro, y todo lo que tuvieres se te aumente, ^8:14y se eleve luego tu corazón, y te olvides de Jehová tu Dios, que te sacó de tierra de Egipto, de casa de siervos; ^8:15que te hizo caminar por un desierto grande y espantoso, de serpientes ardientes, y de escorpiones, y de sed, donde no había agua, y él te sacó agua de la roca del pedernal; ^8:16que te sustentó con maná en el desierto, comida que tus padres no habían conocido, afligiéndote y probándote, para a la postre hacerte bien; ^8:17y digas en tu corazón: ‘Mi poder y la fortaleza de mi mano me han traído esta riqueza’. ^8:18Antes acuérdate de Jehová tu Dios: porque él te da el poder para hacer las riquezas, a fin de confirmar su Pacto que juró a tus padres, como en este día.

^8:19Pero será que si llegares a olvidarte de Jehová tu Dios, y anduvieres en pos de dioses ajenos, y les sirvieres, y los adorares, yo testifico hoy contra ustedes, que de cierto pereceréis. ^8:20Como las naciones que Jehová destruirá delante de ustedes, así pereceréis; por cuanto no habréis atendido a la voz de Jehová vuestro Dios.
