Deuteronomy, Chapter 2.5: Obey the Laws of the Kingdom or perish (26:1 - 34:12)

Introduction: Be grateful to God; and walk in obedience to the God you profess to believe in (26:1 - 19)

¶Opposite   When you inherit the Promised Land, bring the firstfruits of the land to the priest, and be grateful (26:1 - 11)

Body: If you disobey the voice of Jehovah, these curses of the Covenant of Jehovah will come to pass upon you (27:1 - 30:20)

¶Opposite   Moses commanded Israel to build an altar of whole stones in Mount Ebal, and write the Law upon it plainly (27:1 - 8)

¶Opposite   Moses commanded Israel to pronounce blessings on Mount Gerizim and curses on Mount Ebal (27:9 - 26)

^25:17Remember what Amalek did to you by the way, when you came forth out of Egypt, ^25:18how he met you by the way, and attacked the hindmost of you, even all that were feeble behind you, when you were faint and weary; and he did not fear God. ^25:19Therefore it shall be, when Jehovah your God has given you rest from all your enemies round about, in the land which Jehovah your God is giving you for an inheritance to possess it, that you shall blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; you shall not forget it.

^26:1And it shall be, when you have come in to the land which Jehovah your God is giving you for an inheritance, and possess it, and dwell in it, ^26:2that you shall take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which you shall bring of your land that Jehovah your God is giving you, and shall put it in a basket, and shall go to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose to place his Name there.

^26:3And you shall go to the priest that shall be in those days, and say to him, ‘I profess this day to Jehovah your God, that I have come to the country which Jehovah swore to our fathers to give us.’ ^26:4And the priest shall take the basket out of your hand, and set it down before the altar of Jehovah your God.

^26:5And you shall speak and say before Jehovah your God, ‘A Syrian ready to perish was my father; and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there with a few, and there became a nation: great, mighty, and populous; ^26:6and the Egyptians mistreated us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard slavery; ^26:7and when we cried to Jehovah God of our fathers, Jehovah heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labor, and our oppression; ^26:8and Jehovah brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, with great dreadfulness, with signs, and with wonders; ^26:9and he has brought us into this place, and has given us this land, even a land that flows with milk and honey.

^26:10And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which you, O Jehovah, have given me.’ And you shall set it before Jehovah your God, and worship before Jehovah your God; ^26:11and you shall rejoice in every good thing which Jehovah your God has given to you, and to your house: you, the Levite, and the stranger that is among you.

¶Opposite   This day, you have professed Jehovah to be your God (26:12 - 19)

^26:12When you have made an end of tithing all the tithes of your increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and have given it to the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within your gates, and be filled, ^26:13then you shall say before Jehovah your God, ‘I have brought away the hallowed things out of my house, and also have given them to the Levite, to the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all your Commandments which you have commanded me. I have not transgressed your Commandments; neither have I forgotten them. ^26:14I have not eaten of it in my mourning; neither have I taken away any of it for any unclean use, nor given any of it for the dead; but I have given heed to the voice of Jehovah my God, and have done according to all that you have commanded me.

^26:15Look down from your holy habitation, from Heaven, and bless your people Israel, and the land which you have given us, as you swore to our fathers, a land that flows with milk and honey.’

^26:16This day Jehovah your God has commanded you to do these Statutes and Judgments; therefore you shall keep and do them with all your heart, and with all your soul.

^26:17You have professed Jehovah this day to be your God, and to walk in his ways, and to keep his Statutes, and his Commandments, and his Judgments, and to listen to his voice.

^26:18And Jehovah has proclaimed you this day to be his special people, as he has promised you, and that you should keep all his Commandments; ^26:19and to make you high above all nations which he has made, in praise, in name, and in honor; and that you may be a holy people to Jehovah your God, as he has spoken.”

§Complement   Body: If you disobey the voice of Jehovah, these curses of the Covenant of Jehovah will come to pass upon you (27:1 - 30:20)

^27:1And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, “Keep all the Commandments that I command you this day. ^27:2And it shall be on the day when you shall pass over Jordan to the land which Jehovah your God is giving you, that you shall set you up large stones, and plaster them with plaster; ^27:3and you shall write upon them all the words of this Law, when you have passed over, that you may go into the land which Jehovah your God is giving you, a land that flows with milk and honey; as Jehovah God of your fathers has promised you. ^27:4Therefore it shall be when you have gone over Jordan, that you shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and you shall plaster them with plaster. ^27:5And you shall build an altar there to Jehovah your God, an altar of stones; you shall not lift up any iron tool upon them. ^27:6You shall build the altar of Jehovah your God of whole stones; and you shall offer burnt offerings upon it to Jehovah your God; ^27:7and you shall offer peace offerings, and shall eat there, and rejoice before Jehovah your God. ^27:8And you shall write upon the stones all the words of this Law very plainly.”

^27:9And Moses and the priests the Levites spoke to all Israel, saying, “Take heed, and listen, O Israel: this day you have become the people of Jehovah your God; ^27:10therefore you shall obey the voice of Jehovah your God, and do his Commandments and his Statutes, which I command you this day.” ^27:11And Moses charged the people the same day; saying, ^27:12“These tribes shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when you have come over Jordan: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin; ^27:13and these shall stand upon mount Ebal to curse: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulon, Dan, and Naphtali. ^27:14And the Levites shall speak; and say to all the men of Israel with a loud voice: ^27:15‘Cursed is the man that makes any carved or molten image, an abomination to Jehovah, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and puts it in a secret place!’ And all the people shall answer and say, ‘Amen.’ ^27:16‘Cursed is he that disrespects his father or his mother!’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’ ^27:17‘Cursed is he that moves his neighbor's landmark!’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’ ^27:18‘Cursed is he that makes the blind to wander out of the way!’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’ ^27:19‘Cursed is he that perverts the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow!’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’ ^27:20‘Cursed is he that lies with his father's wife, because he uncovers his father's skirt!’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’ ^27:21‘Cursed is he that lies with any manner of beast!’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’ ^27:22‘Cursed is he that lies with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother!’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’ ^27:23‘Cursed is he that lies with his mother in law!’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’ ^27:24‘Cursed is he that smites his neighbor secretly!’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’ ^27:25‘Cursed is he that takes reward to slay an innocent person!’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’ ^27:26‘Cursed is he that does not confirm all the words of this Law to do them!’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

^28:1And it shall come to pass, if you shall diligently listen to the voice of Jehovah your God, to observe and to do all his Commandments which I command you this day, that Jehovah your God will set you on high above all nations of the earth; ^28:2and all these blessings shall come on you, and overtake you, if you shall listen to the voice of Jehovah your God: ^28:3Blessed shall you be in the city; and blessed shall you be in the field. ^28:4Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, and the fruit of your ground, and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your cows, and the flocks of your sheep. ^28:5Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. ^28:6Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. ^28:7Jehovah shall cause your enemies that rise up against you to be smitten before your face; they shall come out against you one way, and flee before you seven ways. ^28:8Jehovah shall command the blessing upon you in your storehouses, and in all that you set your hand to; and he shall bless you in the land which Jehovah your God is giving you. ^28:9Jehovah shall establish you a holy people to himself, as he has sworn to you, if you shall keep the Commandments of Jehovah your God, and walk in his ways. ^28:10And all people of the earth shall see that you are called by the Name of Jehovah; and they shall be afraid of you. ^28:11And Jehovah shall make you abundant in goods: in the fruit of your body, in the fruit of your cattle, and in the fruit of your ground, in the land that Jehovah swore to your fathers to give you. ^28:12Jehovah shall open to you his good treasure: the heaven to give the rain to your land in his season, and to bless all the work of your hand. And you shall lend to many nations, and you shall not borrow. ^28:13And Jehovah shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath. But only if you give heed to the Commandments of Jehovah your God, which I command you this day, to observe and to do them; ^28:14and you shall not go aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

^28:15But it shall come to pass, if you will not listen to the voice of Jehovah your God, to observe to do all his Commandments and his Statutes which I command you this day, that all these curses shall come upon you, and overtake you: ^28:16Cursed shall you be in the city; and cursed shall you be in the field. ^28:17Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. ^28:18Cursed shall be the fruit of your body, and the fruit of your land, the increase of your cows, and the flocks of your sheep. ^28:19Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out. ^28:20Jehovah shall send upon you cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed, and until you perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings, whereby you have forsaken me. ^28:21Jehovah shall make disease cling to you, until he has consumed you from off the land, where you are going to possess it. ^28:22Jehovah shall smite you with a consumption, with a fever, with an inflammation, with an extreme burning, with the sword, with strong wind, and with mildew; and they shall pursue you until you perish. ^28:23And your heaven that is over your head shall be brass, and the earth that is under you shall be iron. ^28:24Jehovah shall make the rain of your land powder and dust; from heaven shall it come down upon you, until you are destroyed. ^28:25Jehovah shall cause you to be smitten before your enemies: you shall go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them; and shall be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth. ^28:26And your corpse shall be food to all birds of the air, and to the beasts of the earth, and no man shall chase them away. ^28:27Jehovah will smite you with the boil of Egypt, and with the hemorrhoids, and with the scab, and with the itch, of which you cannot be healed. ^28:28Jehovah shall smite you with madness, blindness, and astonishment of heart; ^28:29and you shall grope at noonday, as the blind gropes in darkness; and you shall not prosper in your ways; and you shall be only oppressed and plundered evermore, and no man shall save you. ^28:30You shall betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her; you shall build a house, and you shall not dwell in it; you shall plant a vineyard, and shall not gather its grapes. ^28:31Your ox shall be slain before your eyes, and you shall not eat of it; your donkey shall be violently taken away from before your face, and shall not be restored to you; your sheep shall be given to your enemies, and you shall have none to rescue them. ^28:32Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people, and your eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all day long; and there shall be no power in your hand. ^28:33The fruit of your land, and all your labors, shall a nation that you know not eat up. And you shall be only oppressed and crushed always, ^28:34so that you shall be insane for the sight of your eyes that you shall see. ^28:35Jehovah shall smite you in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore boil that cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot to the top of your head. ^28:36Jehovah shall bring you, and your king which you shall set over you, to a nation which neither you nor your fathers have known; and there shall you serve other gods: wood and stone. ^28:37And you shall become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations where Jehovah shall lead you. ^28:38You shall carry much seed out into the field, and shall gather but little in: for the locust shall consume it. ^28:39You shall plant vineyards, and dress them, but shall neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes: for the worms shall eat them. ^28:40You shall have olive trees throughout all your territories, but you shall not anoint yourself with the oil: for your olive shall cast his fruit. ^28:41You shall beget sons and daughters, but you shall not enjoy them: for they shall go into captivity. ^28:42All your trees and fruit of your land shall the locust consume. ^28:43The stranger that is within you shall go above you very high; and you shall come down very low. ^28:44He shall lend to you, and you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. ^28:45Moreover all these curses shall come upon you, and shall pursue you, and overtake you, until you are destroyed, because you did not listen to the voice of Jehovah your God, to keep his Commandments and his Statutes which he commanded you; ^28:46and they shall be upon you for a sign and for a wonder, and upon your seed forever. ^28:47Because you did not serve Jehovah your God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; ^28:48therefore shall you serve your enemies which Jehovah shall send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in want of all things; and he shall put a yoke of iron upon your neck, until he has destroyed you. ^28:49Jehovah shall bring a nation against you from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies; a nation whose language you shall not understand; ^28:50a nation of fierce countenance, which shall not respect the person of the old, nor show favor to the young; ^28:51and he shall eat the fruit of your cattle, and the fruit of your land, until you are destroyed, which also shall not leave you either grain, wine, or oil, or the increase of your cows, or flocks of your sheep, until he has destroyed you. ^28:52And he shall besiege you in all your gates, until your high and fortified walls that you trusted in come down throughout all your land; and he shall besiege you in all your gates throughout all your land, which Jehovah your God has given you. ^28:53And you shall eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters, which Jehovah your God has given you, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith your enemies shall distress you, ^28:54so that the man that is sensitive among you, and very refined, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave, ^28:55so that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat, because he has nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith your enemies shall distress you in all your gates. ^28:56The sensitive and refined woman among you, who would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, toward her son, toward her daughter, ^28:57toward her young one that comes out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith your enemy shall distress you in your gates. ^28:58If you will not observe to do all the words of this Law that are written in this Book, that you may fear this glorious and dreadful Name, ‘Jehovah YOUR GOD’, ^28:59then Jehovah will make your diseases extraordinary, and the diseases of your seed, even great diseases, and of long continuance; and severe sicknesses, and of long continuance. ^28:60Moreover he will bring upon you all the diseases of Egypt, which you were afraid of; and they shall cling to you. ^28:61Also every sickness, and every disease, which is not written in the Book of this Law, them will Jehovah bring upon you, until you are destroyed. ^28:62And you shall be left few in number, whereas you were as the stars of heaven for multitude, because you would not obey the voice of Jehovah your God. ^28:63And it shall come to pass, that as Jehovah rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you, so Jehovah will also rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nothing. And you shall be plucked from off the land where you are going to possess it; ^28:64and Jehovah shall scatter you among all people, from the one end of the earth even to the other; and there you shall serve other gods, which neither you nor your fathers have known, even wood and stone. ^28:65And among these nations you shall find no ease; neither shall the sole of your foot have rest, but Jehovah shall give you there a trembling heart, failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind; ^28:66and your life shall hang in doubt before you; and you shall fear day and night, and shall have no assurance of your life. ^28:67In the morning you shall say, ‘Would God it were evening!’; and at evening you shall say, ‘Would God it were morning!’: for the fear of your heart wherewith you shall fear, and for the sight of your eyes which you shall see. ^28:68And Jehovah shall bring you into Egypt again with ships, by the way of which I spoke to you, ‘You shall see it no more again’; and there you shall be sold to your enemies for men slaves and women slaves; and no man shall buy you.”

^29:1These are the words of the Covenant, which Jehovah commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the Covenant that he made with them in Horeb. ^29:2And Moses called to all Israel, and said to them, “You have seen all that Jehovah did before your eyes in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land: ^29:3the great trials which your eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles; ^29:4yet Jehovah has not given you a heart to perceive, eyes to see, and ears to hear, until this day. ^29:5‘And I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not become old upon you, and your shoe has not become old upon your foot. ^29:6You have not eaten bread; neither have you drunk wine nor alcohol, that you might know that I am Jehovah your God.’ ^29:7And when you came to this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon and Og the king of Bashan came out against us to battle, and we smote them; ^29:8and we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance to the Reubenites, to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh. ^29:9Therefore keep the words of this Covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do. ^29:10You stand this day, all of you, before Jehovah your God: your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel, ^29:11your little ones, your wives, and your stranger that is in your camp, from the cutter of your wood to the carrier of your water; ^29:12that you should enter into Covenant with Jehovah your God, and into his oath, which Jehovah your God makes with you this day; ^29:13that he may establish you today for a people to himself, and that he may be to you a God, as he has said to you, and as he has sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. ^29:14Neither with you only do I make this Covenant and this oath, ^29:15but with him that stands here with us this day before Jehovah our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day ^29:16(for you know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which you passed by; ^29:17and you have seen their abominations and their idols: wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them), ^29:18lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart is turning away this day from Jehovah our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood; ^29:19and it comes to pass, when he hears the words of this curse, that he blesses himself in his heart, saying, ‘I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart, to add drunkenness to thirst’, ^29:20Jehovah will not spare him, but then the anger of Jehovah and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this Book shall lie upon him, and Jehovah shall blot out his name from under heaven. ^29:21And Jehovah shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the Covenant that are written in this Book of the Law, ^29:22so that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the Gentile that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the diseases of that land, and the sicknesses which Jehovah has laid upon it; ^29:23and that the whole land of it is brimstone, salt, and burning; that it is not sown, nor bears, nor does any grass grow in it (like the overthrow of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which Jehovah overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath): ^29:24even all nations shall say, ‘Why has Jehovah done this to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?’ ^29:25Then men shall say, ‘Because they have forsaken the Covenant of Jehovah God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt: ^29:26for they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they did not know, and whom he had not given to them; ^29:27and the anger of Jehovah was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this Book; ^29:28and Jehovah rooted them out of their land in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.’ ^29:29The secret things belong to Jehovah our God, but those things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this Law. ^30:1And it shall come to pass, when all these things have come upon you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you shall call them to mind among all the nations, where Jehovah your God has driven you, ^30:2and shall return to Jehovah your God, and shall obey his voice according to all that I command you this day, you and your children, with all your heart, and with all your soul, ^30:3that then Jehovah your God will turn your captivity, and have compassion upon you, and will return and gather you from all the nations, where Jehovah your God has scattered you. ^30:4If any of yours have been driven out to the outmost parts of heaven, from there will Jehovah your God gather you, and from there will he bring you; ^30:5and Jehovah your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and he will do you good, and multiply you above your fathers. ^30:6And Jehovah your God will circumcise your heart, and the heart of your seed, to love Jehovah your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, that you may live. ^30:7And Jehovah your God will put all these curses upon your enemies, and on them that hate you, which persecuted you. ^30:8And you shall return and obey the voice of Jehovah, and do all his Commandments that I command you this day. ^30:9And Jehovah your God will make you abundant in every work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your cattle, and in the fruit of your land, for good. For Jehovah will again rejoice over you for good, as he rejoiced over your fathers, ^30:10if you shall listen to the voice of Jehovah your God, to keep his Commandments and his Statutes which are written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to Jehovah your God with all your heart, and with all your soul. ^30:11For this Commandment that I command you this day, it is not hidden from you; neither is it far away. ^30:12It is not in Heaven, that you should say, ‘Who shall go up to Heaven for us, and bring it to us, that we may hear it, and do it?’ ^30:13Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, that we may hear it, and do it?’ ^30:14But the Word is very near to you, in your mouth, and in your heart, that you may do it. ^30:15See, I have set before you this day life and good, and death and evil: ^30:16in that I command you this day to love Jehovah your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his Commandments and his Statutes and his Judgments, that you may live and multiply; and Jehovah your God shall bless you in the land where you are going to possess it. ^30:17But if your heart turns away, so that you will not hear, but shall be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them, ^30:18I denounce to you this day, that you shall surely perish, and that you shall not prolong your days upon the land, where you are passing over Jordan to go to possess it. ^30:19I call Heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your seed may live, ^30:20that you may love Jehovah your God, and that you may obey his voice, and that you may be faithful to him: for he is your life, and the length of your days, that you may dwell in the land which Jehovah swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”

^31:1And Moses went and spoke these words to all Israel. ^31:2And he said to them, “I am one hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no longer go out and come in. Also Jehovah has said to me, ‘You shall not go over this Jordan.’ ^31:3Jehovah your God, he will go over before you, and he will destroy these nations from before you; and you shall possess them. And Joshua, he shall go over before you, as Jehovah has said. ^31:4And Jehovah shall do to them as he did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and to the land of them, whom he destroyed. ^31:5And Jehovah shall give them up before your face, that you may do to them according to all the Commandments which I have commanded you. ^31:6Be strong and courageous; fear not, nor be afraid of them: for Jehovah your God is he that is going with you; he will not fail you, nor forsake you.” ^31:7And Moses called to Joshua; and he said to him in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and of good courage: for you must go with this people to the land which Jehovah has sworn to their fathers to give them; and you shall cause them to inherit it. ^31:8And Jehovah is he that is going before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you; neither forsake you. Fear not; neither be dismayed.”

^31:9And Moses wrote this Law; and he delivered it to the priests the sons of Levi, which carried the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah, and to all the elders of Israel. ^31:10And Moses commanded them, saying, “At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the Feast of Tabernacles, ^31:11when all Israel has come to appear before Jehovah your God in the place which he shall choose, you shall read this Law before all Israel in their hearing. ^31:12Gather the people together: men, women, children, and your stranger that is within your gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear Jehovah your God, and observe to do all the words of this Law; ^31:13and that their children, which have not known these things, may hear, and learn to fear Jehovah your God, as long as you live in the land where you are going over Jordan to possess it.”

^31:14And Jehovah said to Moses, “Behold, your days approach that you must die. Call Joshua, and present yourselves in the Tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a commission.” And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the Tabernacle of the congregation. ^31:15And Jehovah appeared in the Tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud; and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the Tabernacle. ^31:16And Jehovah said to Moses, “Behold, you shall sleep with your fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land (where they are going to be among them), and will forsake me, and break my Covenant which I have made with them. ^31:17Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day; and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured; and many evils and troubles shall befall them, so that they will say in that day, ‘Have not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?’ ^31:18And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils that they shall have done, in that they have turned to other gods. ^31:19Now therefore write this song for you, and teach it to the children of Israel; put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel: ^31:20for when I shall have brought them into the land which I swore to their fathers, that flows with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and grown fat, then will they turn to other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my Covenant. ^31:21And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles have befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness: for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I swore to give them.”

^31:22Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it to the children of Israel. ^31:23And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a commission, and said, “Be strong and courageous: for you shall bring the children of Israel into the land which I swore to them; and I will be with you.”

^31:24And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this Law in a Book, until they were finished, ^31:25that Moses commanded the Levites, which carried the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah, saying, ^31:26“Take this Book of the Law, and put it in the side of the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah your God, that it may be there for a witness against you: ^31:27for I know your rebelliousness, and your stiff neck. Behold, while I am still alive with you this day, you have been rebellious against Jehovah; and how much more after my death? ^31:28Gather to me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call Heaven and earth to record against them: ^31:29for I know that after my death you will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days, because you will do evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.”

^31:30And Moses spoke in the ears of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were finished: ^32:1“Give ear, O you heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. ^32:2My doctrine shall drop as the rain; my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass, ^32:3because I will publish the Name of Jehovah; ascribe greatness to our God. ^32:4He is the Rock; his work is perfect: for all his ways are Judgment; a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. ^32:5They have corrupted themselves; their spot is not the spot of his children; they are a perverse and crooked generation. ^32:6Do you thus repay Jehovah, O foolish people and unwise? Is he not your father that has bought you? Has he not made you, and established you? ^32:7Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations. Ask your father, and he will show you; your elders, and they will tell you. ^32:8When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. ^32:9For Jehovah's portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. ^32:10He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. ^32:11As an eagle stirs up her nest, fluttering over her young, spreading abroad her wings, taking them, and bearing them on her wings: ^32:12so Jehovah alone led him, and no strange god was with him. ^32:13He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock: ^32:14butter of cows, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and you drank the pure blood of the grape. ^32:15But Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked. You have grown fat; you have grown thick; you are covered with fatness. Then he forsook God who made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. ^32:16They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods; with abominations they provoked him to anger. ^32:17They sacrificed to demons, not to God; to gods whom they did not know, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers did not fear. ^32:18Of the Rock that begot you, you are unmindful, and have forgotten God that formed you. ^32:19And when Jehovah saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters. ^32:20And he said, ‘I will hide my face from them; I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very perverse generation, children in whom is no faith. ^32:21They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities; and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation: ^32:22for a fire is kindled in my anger, and shall burn to the lowest Hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. ^32:23I will heap mischief upon them; I will spend my arrows upon them. ^32:24They shall be burned with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction. I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust. ^32:25The sword outside, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the infant also with the man of gray hairs. ^32:26I said, ‘I would scatter them into corners; I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men’, ^32:27were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely; and lest they should say, ‘Our hand is high, and Jehovah has not done all this.’ ^32:28For they are a nation void of counsel; neither is there any understanding in them. ^32:29O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end! ^32:30How could one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, and Jehovah had shut them up? ^32:31For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges: ^32:32for their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah; their grapes are grapes of gall; their clusters are bitter; ^32:33their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps. ^32:34Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures? ^32:35To me belongs vengeance, and recompense; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste: ^32:36for Jehovah shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left. ^32:37And he shall say, ‘Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted, ^32:38which ate the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.’ ^32:39See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me. I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal; neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand: ^32:40for I lift up my hand to Heaven, and say, ‘I live forever.’ ^32:41If I sharpen my glittering sword, and my hand takes hold on Judgment, I will render vengeance to my enemies, and will repay them that hate me. ^32:42I will make my arrows drunk with blood; and my sword shall devour flesh, and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy. ^32:43Rejoice, O you nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful to his land, and to his people.’”

^32:44And Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people: he, and Hoshea the son of Nun. ^32:45And Moses made an end of speaking all these words to all Israel; ^32:46and he said to them, “Set your hearts to all the words which I testify among you this day, which you shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this Law: ^32:47for it is not a vain thing for you, because it is your life; and through this thing you shall prolong your days in the land, where you are going over Jordan to possess it.”

^32:48And Jehovah spoke to Moses that very same day, saying, ^32:49“Go up into this mountain Abarim, to mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is next to Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel for a possession. ^32:50And die in the mountain where you are going up, and be gathered to your people (as Aaron your brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered to his people), ^32:51because you trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the water of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin, and because you did not sanctify me in the midst of the children of Israel. ^32:52Yet you shall see the land before you; but you shall not go there to the land which I give the children of Israel.”

^33:1And this is the blessing, with which Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death. ^33:2And he said, “Jehovah came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir to them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints; from his right hand went a fiery Law for them. ^33:3Moreover, he loved the people; all his saints are in your hand; and they sat down at your feet; every one shall receive of your words.” ^33:4(Moses commanded us a Law, even the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob. ^33:5And he was king in Jeshurun, when the heads of the people and the tribes of Israel were gathered together.) ^33:6“Let Reuben live, and not die; and let his men not be few.” ^33:7And this is the blessing of Judah; and he said, “Hear, Jehovah, the voice of Judah, and bring him to his people. Let his hands be sufficient for him; and be a help to him from his enemies.” ^33:8And of Levi he said, “Let your Thummim and your Urim be with your holy one, whom you tested at Massah, and with whom you strove at the waters of Meribah, ^33:9who said to his father and to his mother, ‘I have not seen him’; neither did he acknowledge his brethren, nor knew his own children: for they have observed your Word, and kept your Covenant. ^33:10They shall teach Jacob your Judgments, and Israel your Law; they shall put incense before you, and whole burnt sacrifice upon your altar. ^33:11Bless, Jehovah, his substance, and accept the work of his hands; smite through the loins of them that rise against him, and of them that hate him, that they rise not again.” ^33:12And of Benjamin he said, “The beloved of Jehovah shall dwell in safety by him; and Jehovah shall cover him all day long; and he shall dwell between his shoulders.” ^33:13And of Joseph he said, “Blessed of Jehovah be his land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that couches beneath, ^33:14and for the precious fruits brought forth by the sun, and for the precious things put forth by the moon, ^33:15and for the chief things of the ancient mountains, and for the precious things of the lasting hills, ^33:16and for the precious things of the earth and its fullness, and for the good will of him that dwelt in the bush; let the blessing come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren. ^33:17His glory is like the firstborn of his young bull, and his horns are like the horns of wild oxen. With them shall he push the people together to the ends of the earth; and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.” ^33:18And of Zebulon he said, “Rejoice, Zebulon, in your going out; and, Issachar, in your tents. ^33:19They shall call the people to the mountain; there shall they offer sacrifices of righteousness: for they shall suck of the abundance of the seas, and of treasures hidden in the sand.” ^33:20And of Gad he said, “Blessed is he that enlarges Gad; he dwells as a lion, and tears the arm with the crown of the head. ^33:21And he provided the first part for himself, because there, in a portion of the Lawgiver, was he seated. And he came with the heads of the people; he executed the justice of Jehovah, and his Judgments with Israel.” ^33:22And of Dan he said, “Dan is a lion's cub; he shall leap from Bashan.” ^33:23And of Naphtali he said, “O Naphtali, satisfied with favor, and full with the blessing of Jehovah, possess the west and the south.” ^33:24And of Asher he said, “Let Asher be blessed with children; let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him dip his foot in oil. ^33:25Your shoes shall be iron and brass; and as your days, so shall your strength be. ^33:26There is none like the God of Jeshurun, who rides upon the heaven in your help, and in his excellence on the sky. ^33:27The Eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the Everlasting Arms. And he shall thrust out the enemy from before you, and shall say, ‘Destroy them.’ ^33:28Israel then shall dwell in safety alone; the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of grain and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew. ^33:29Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like unto you, O people saved by Jehovah, who is the shield of your help, and the sword of your majesty! And your enemies shall be found liars to you; and you shall tread upon their high places.”

^34:1And Moses went up from the plains of Moab to the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is next to Jericho. And Jehovah showed him all the land of Gilead unto Dan, ^34:2and all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, to the utmost sea, ^34:3and the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar. ^34:4And Jehovah said to him, “This is the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your seed’; I have caused you to see it with your eyes; but you shall not go over there.” ^34:5So Moses the servant of Jehovah died there in the land of Moab, according to the Word of Jehovah; ^34:6and he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, next to Beth-peor, but no man knows of his grave until this day. ^34:7And Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated. ^34:8And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended. ^34:9And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the Spirit of wisdom: for Moses had laid his hands upon him; and the children of Israel gave heed to him, and did as Jehovah commanded Moses. ^34:10And no Prophet has arisen in Israel since like Moses, whom Jehovah knew face to face, ^34:11in all the signs and the wonders, which Jehovah sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land; ^34:12and in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses showed in the sight of all Israel.

^27:9Y Moisés, con los sacerdotes levitas, habló a todo Israel, diciendo, “Atiende y escucha, Israel; hoy eres hecho pueblo de Jehová tu Dios. ^27:10Oirás pues la voz de Jehová tu Dios, y cumplirás sus Mandamientos y sus Estatutos, que yo te ordeno hoy”. ^27:11Y mandó Moisés al pueblo en aquel día, diciendo, ^27:12“Éstos estarán sobre el monte de Gerizim para bendecir al pueblo, cuando hubiereis pasado el Jordán: Simeón, y Leví, y Judá, e Isacar, y José y Benjamín. ^27:13Y éstos estarán para pronunciar la maldición en el monte Ebal: Rubén, Gad, Aser, Zabulón, Dan y Neftalí. ^27:14Y hablarán los levitas, y dirán a todo varón de Israel en alta voz: ^27:15‘¡Maldito el hombre que hiciere escultura o imagen de fundición, abominación a Jehová, obra de mano de artífice, y la pusiere en oculto!’ Y todo el pueblo responderá y dirá, ‘Amén’. ^27:16‘¡Maldito el que deshonrare a su padre o a su madre!’ Y dirá todo el pueblo, ‘Amén’. ^27:17‘¡Maldito el que redujere el término de su prójimo!’ Y dirá todo el pueblo, ‘Amén’. ^27:18‘¡Maldito el que hiciere errar al ciego en el camino!’ Y dirá todo el pueblo, ‘Amén’. ^27:19‘¡Maldito el que torciere el derecho del extranjero, del huérfano, y de la viuda!’ Y dirá todo el pueblo, ‘Amén’. ^27:20‘¡Maldito el que se acostare con la esposa de su padre; por cuanto descubrió el regazo de su padre!’ Y dirá todo el pueblo, ‘Amén’. ^27:21‘¡Maldito el que se ayuntare con cualquier clase de bestia!’ Y dirá todo el pueblo, ‘Amén’. ^27:22‘¡Maldito el que se acostare con su hermana, hija de su padre, o hija de su madre!’ Y dirá todo el pueblo, ‘Amén’. ^27:23‘¡Maldito el que se acostare con su suegra!’ Y dirá todo el pueblo, ‘Amén’. ^27:24‘¡Maldito el que hiriere a su prójimo ocultamente!’ Y dirá todo el pueblo, ‘Amén’. ^27:25‘¡Maldito el que recibiere cohecho para quitar la vida al inocente!’ Y dirá todo el pueblo, ‘Amén’. ^27:26‘¡Maldito el que no confirmare las palabras de esta Ley para cumplirlas!’ Y dirá todo el pueblo, ‘Amén’.

^28:1Y será que, si oyeres diligente la voz de Jehová tu Dios, para guardar y poner por obra todos sus Mandamientos que yo te prescribo hoy, también Jehová tu Dios te pondrá en alto sobre todas las naciones de la tierra; ^28:2y vendrán sobre ti todas estas bendiciones, y te alcanzarán, cuando oyeres la voz de Jehová tu Dios. ^28:3Bendito serás tú en la ciudad, y bendito tú en el campo; ^28:4bendito el fruto de tu vientre, y el fruto de tu tierra, y el fruto de tu bestia, la cría de tus vacas y los rebaños de tus ovejas; ^28:5benditas serán tu canasta y tu artesa; ^28:6bendito serás en tu entrar, y bendito en tu salir. ^28:7Jehová hará que los enemigos que se levantan contra ti sean derrotados delante de ti; por un camino saldrán contra ti y por siete caminos huirán de delante de ti. ^28:8Jehová mandará que la bendición sea contigo en tus graneros y en todo aquello en que pongas tu mano; y te bendecirá en la tierra que Jehová tu Dios te da. ^28:9 Jehová te confirmará como un pueblo santo para sí, como te ha jurado; cuando guardares los Mandamientos de Jehová tu Dios, y anduvieres en sus caminos. ^28:10Y verán todos los pueblos de la tierra que el Nombre de Jehová es invocado sobre ti, y te temerán. ^28:11Y te hará Jehová sobreabundar en bienes, en el fruto de tu vientre, y en el fruto de tu bestia, y en el fruto de tu tierra, en el país que juró Jehová a tus padres que te había de dar. ^28:12Y Jehová te abrirá su buen depósito, el cielo, para dar lluvia a tu tierra en su tiempo, y para bendecir toda obra de tus manos. Y prestarás a muchas naciones, y tú no tomarás prestado. ^28:13Y te pondrá Jehová por cabeza, y no por cola. Y estarás encima solamente, y no estarás debajo; cuando obedecieres a los Mandamientos de Jehová tu Dios, que yo te ordeno hoy, para que los guardes y cumplas. ^28:14Y no te apartes de todas las palabras que yo os mando hoy, ni a derecha ni a izquierda, para ir tras dioses ajenos para servirles.

^28:15Y será, si no oyeres la voz de Jehová tu Dios, para cuidar de poner por obra todos sus Mandamientos y sus Estatutos, que yo te intimo hoy, que vendrán sobre ti todas estas maldiciones, y te alcanzarán. ^28:16Maldito serás tú en la ciudad; y maldito en el campo; ^28:17malditas serán tu canasta y tu artesa; ^28:18maldito el fruto de tu vientre, y el fruto de tu tierra, y la cría de tus vacas, y los rebaños de tus ovejas; ^28:19maldito serás en tu entrar, y maldito en tu salir. ^28:20Y Jehová enviará contra ti la maldición, quebranto y asombro en todo cuanto pusieres mano e hicieres, hasta que seas destruido y perezcas pronto a causa de la maldad de tus obras, por las cuales me habrás dejado. ^28:21Jehová hará que se te pegue mortandad, hasta que te consuma de la tierra a la cual entras para poseerla. ^28:22Jehová te herirá con tisis y con fiebre, con inflamación y gran ardor, con espada, con calamidad repentina y con añublo; y te perseguirán hasta que perezcas. ^28:23Y tu cielo que está sobre tu cabeza será de bronce, y la tierra que está debajo de ti, de hierro. ^28:24Dará Jehová por lluvia a tu tierra polvo y ceniza; de los cielos descenderán sobre ti hasta que perezcas. ^28:25Jehová te entregará herido delante de tus enemigos; por un camino saldrás a ellos, y por siete caminos huirás delante de ellos; y serás removido hacia todos los reinos de la tierra. ^28:26Y será tu cuerpo muerto por comida a toda ave del cielo, y bestia de la tierra, y no habrá quien las espante. ^28:27Jehová te herirá de la plaga de Egipto, y con almorranas, y con sarna, y con comezón, de que no puedas ser curado. ^28:28Jehová te herirá con locura y con ceguera, y con angustia de corazón. ^28:29Y palparás a mediodía, como palpa el ciego en la oscuridad, y no serás prosperado en tus caminos; y sólo serás oprimido y despojado todos los días, y no habrá quien te salve. ^28:30Te desposarás con mujer, y otro varón se acostará con ella; edificarás casa, y no habitarás en ella; plantarás viña, y no la vendimiarás. ^28:31Tu buey será matado delante de tus ojos, y tú no comerás de él; tu asno será arrebatado de delante de ti, y no te será devuelto; tus ovejas serán dadas a tus enemigos, y no tendrás quien te las rescate. ^28:32Tus hijos y tus hijas serán entregados a otro pueblo, y tus ojos lo verán, y desfallecerán por ellos todo el día; y no habrá fuerza en tu mano. ^28:33El fruto de tu tierra y todo tu trabajo comerá pueblo que no conociste; y sólo serás oprimido y quebrantado todos los días. ^28:34Y enloquecerás a causa de lo que verás con tus ojos. ^28:35Jehová te herirá con maligna pústula en las rodillas y en las piernas, sin que puedas ser curado; desde la planta de tu pie hasta tu coronilla. ^28:36Jehová te llevará a ti y a tu rey, al que hubieres puesto sobre ti, a una nación que ni tú ni tus padres habéis conocido; y allá servirás a dioses ajenos, al palo y a la piedra. ^28:37Y serás motivo de asombro, proverbio y burla en todos los pueblos a los cuales te llevará Jehová. ^28:38Llevarás mucha semilla al campo, pero recogerás poco: porque la langosta lo consumirá. ^28:39Plantarás viñas y las labrarás, pero no beberás del vino, ni recogerás las uvas: porque el gusano se las comerá. ^28:40Tendrás olivos en todo tu término, pero no te ungirás con el aceite: porque tu aceituna se caerá. ^28:41Hijos e hijas engendrarás, y no serán para ti: porque irán en cautiverio. ^28:42Todos tus árboles y el fruto de tu tierra serán consumidos por la langosta. ^28:43El extranjero que esté en medio de ti se elevará sobre ti muy alto, y tú descenderás muy bajo. ^28:44Él te prestará a ti, y tú no le prestarás a él; él será la cabeza, y tú serás la cola. ^28:45Y vendrán sobre ti todas estas maldiciones, y te perseguirán, y te alcanzarán hasta que perezcas; por cuanto no habrás atendido a la voz de Jehová tu Dios, para guardar sus Mandamientos y sus Estatutos, que él te mandó. ^28:46Y serán en ti por señal y por maravilla, y en tu simiente para siempre. ^28:47Por cuanto no serviste a Jehová tu Dios con alegría y con gozo de corazón, por la abundancia de todas las cosas; ^28:48por tanto, servirás a tus enemigos que Jehová enviará contra ti, con hambre y con sed y con desnudez, y con escasez de todas las cosas; y él pondrá yugo de hierro sobre tu cuello, hasta destruirte. ^28:49Jehová traerá contra ti una nación de lejos, desde lo último de la tierra, que vuele como águila, nación cuya lengua no entenderás; ^28:50gente fiera de rostro, que no tendrá respeto al anciano, ni perdonará al niño; ^28:51y comerá el fruto de tu ganado y el fruto de tu tierra, hasta que perezcas, y no te dejará grano, ni mosto, ni aceite, ni la cría de tus vacas, ni los rebaños de tus ovejas, hasta destruirte. ^28:52Y te pondrá sitio en todas tus ciudades, hasta que tus muros altos y fortificados en que tú confías caigan en toda tu tierra; te sitiará, pues, en todas tus ciudades y en toda tu tierra, que Jehová tu Dios te hubiere dado. ^28:53Y comerás el fruto de tu vientre, la carne de tus hijos y de tus hijas que Jehová tu Dios te dio, en el asedio y en al aprieto con que te angustiará tu enemigo. ^28:54El hombre que es tierno y muy delicado en medio de ti, su ojo será maligno para con su hermano, y para con la esposa de su seno, y para con el resto de sus hijos que le quedaren; ^28:55para no dar a alguno de ellos de la carne de sus hijos, que él comerá: porque nada le habrá quedado, en el asedio y en el apuro con que tu enemigo te oprimirá en todas tus ciudades. ^28:56La tierna y delicada entre ustedes, que no osaría poner la planta de su pie sobre la tierra por delicadeza y ternura, su ojo será maligno para con el marido de su seno, y para con su hijo, y para con su hija, ^28:57y para con su chiquita que sale de entre sus pies, y para con sus hijos que dé a luz; pues los comerá a escondidas, a falta de todo, en el asedio y en el apuro con que tu enemigo te oprimirá en tus ciudades. ^28:58Si no cuidares de poner por obra todas las palabras de esta Ley que están escritas en este Libro, para que temas este Nombre glorioso y temible, ‘JEHOVÁ TU DIOS’, ^28:59entonces Jehová aumentará maravillosamente tus plagas y las plagas de tu simiente, plagas grandes y persistentes, y enfermedades malignas y duraderas. ^28:60Y traerá sobre ti todas las enfermedades de Egipto, de las cuales tenías temor, y se te pegarán. ^28:61Asimismo toda enfermedad y toda plaga que no está escrita en el Libro de esta Ley, Jehová la traerá sobre ti, hasta que tú seas destruido. ^28:62Y quedaréis pocos en número, en lugar de haber sido como las estrellas del cielo en multitud; por cuanto no obedeciste a la voz de Jehová tu Dios. ^28:63Y será que tal como Jehová se gozó sobre ustedes para haceros bien, y para multiplicaros, así se gozará Jehová sobre ustedes para arruinaros, y para destruiros. Y seréis arrancados de sobre la tierra, a la cual entráis para poseerla; ^28:64y Jehová te esparcirá por todos los pueblos, desde un extremo de la tierra hasta el otro extremo de ella; y allí servirás a dioses ajenos que no conociste tú ni tus padres, al leño y a la piedra. ^28:65Y entre estas naciones no tendrás tranquilidad, ni la planta de tu pie tendrá reposo; sino que allí Jehová te dará un corazón temeroso, y desfallecimiento de ojos, y tristeza de alma. ^28:66Y tu vida estará en suspenso delante de ti, y estarás temeroso de noche y de día, y no tendrás seguridad de tu vida. ^28:67Por la mañana dirás, ‘¡Quién diera que fuese la tarde!’ Y por la tarde dirás, ‘¡Quién diera que fuese la mañana!’ por el miedo de tu corazón con que estarás amedrentado, y por lo que verán tus ojos. ^28:68Y Jehová te hará volver a Egipto en navíos, por el camino del cual te ha dicho, ‘Nunca más volveréis’; y allí seréis vendidos a vuestros enemigos como esclavos y como esclavas, y no habrá quien os compre”.

^29:1Éstas son las palabras del Pacto que Jehová mandó a Moisés que hiciera con los hijos de Israel en la tierra de Moab, además del Pacto que él hizo con ellos en Horeb. ^29:2Moisés, pues, llamó a todo Israel, y les dijo, “Ustedes habéis visto todo lo que Jehová ha hecho delante de vuestros ojos en la tierra de Egipto a Faraón y a todos sus siervos, y a toda su tierra; ^29:3las grandes pruebas que vieron tus ojos, las señales y las grandes maravillas. ^29:4Pero Jehová no os dio corazón para entender, ni ojos para ver, ni oídos para oír, hasta el día de hoy. ^29:5Y yo os he traído cuarenta años por el desierto; vuestra ropa no se ha envejecido sobre ustedes, ni vuestro calzado se ha envejecido sobre vuestro pie. ^29:6No habéis comido pan, ni bebisteis vino ni sidra; para que supieseis que yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios. ^29:7Y llegasteis a este lugar, y salió Sehón rey de Hesbón, y Og rey de Basán, delante de nosotros para pelear, y los derrotamos; ^29:8y tomamos su tierra, y la dimos por heredad a Rubén y a Gad, y a la media tribu de Manasés. ^29:9Guardaréis, pues, las palabras de este Pacto, y las pondréis por obra, para que prosperéis en todo lo que hiciereis. ^29:10Ustedes todos estáis hoy delante de Jehová vuestro Dios; vuestros príncipes de vuestras tribus, vuestros Ancianos, y vuestros oficiales, todos los varones de Israel, ^29:11vuestros niños, vuestras esposas, y los extranjeros que habitan en medio de tu campamento, desde el que corta tu leña hasta el que saca tu agua; ^29:12para que entres en el Pacto de Jehová tu Dios, y en su juramento, que Jehová tu Dios hace hoy contigo, ^29:13para confirmarte hoy por su pueblo, y que él te sea a ti por Dios, de la manera que él te ha dicho, y como él lo juró a tus padres Abraham, Isaac y Jacob. ^29:14Y no sólo con ustedes hago yo este Pacto y este juramento, ^29:15sino con los que están aquí presentes hoy con nosotros delante de Jehová nuestro Dios, y con los que no están aquí hoy con nosotros ^29:16(porque ustedes sabéis cómo habitamos en la tierra de Egipto, y cómo hemos pasado a través de las naciones por las que habéis pasado; ^29:17y habéis visto sus abominaciones y sus ídolos, madera y piedra, plata y oro, que tienen consigo); ^29:18no sea que haya entre ustedes varón, o mujer, o familia, o tribu, cuyo corazón se aparte hoy de Jehová nuestro Dios, para ir y servir a los dioses de aquellas naciones; no sea que haya entre ustedes raíz que eche veneno y ajenjo; ^29:19y suceda que, cuando el tal oyere las palabras de esta maldición, él se bendiga en su corazón, diciendo, ‘Tendré paz, aunque ande en la imaginación de mi corazón, para añadir la embriaguez a la sed’. ^29:20Jehová no querrá perdonarle; sino que entonces humeará el furor de Jehová y su celo sobre el tal hombre, y se asentará sobre él toda maldición escrita en este Libro, y Jehová raerá su Nombre de debajo del cielo. ^29:21Y lo apartará Jehová de todas las tribus de Israel para mal, conforme a todas las maldiciones del Pacto escrito en este Libro de la Ley. ^29:22Y dirá la generación venidera, vuestros hijos que vendrán después de ustedes, y el extranjero que vendrá de lejanas tierras, cuando vieren las plagas de esta tierra, y sus enfermedades de que Jehová la hizo enfermar; ^29:23azufre y sal, calcinada está toda su tierra; no será sembrada, ni producirá, ni crecerá en ella hierba alguna, como en la destrucción de Sodoma y de Gomorra, de Adma y de Zeboim, que Jehová destruyó en su furor y en su ira; ^29:24y todas las naciones dirán, ‘¿Por qué hizo esto Jehová a esta tierra? ¿Qué significa el ardor de este gran furor?’ ^29:25Y responderán, ‘Por cuanto dejaron el Pacto de Jehová el Dios de sus padres, que él hizo con ellos cuando los sacó de la tierra de Egipto, ^29:26y fueron y sirvieron a dioses ajenos, y se inclinaron a ellos, dioses que no conocían, y que ninguna cosa les habían dado. ^29:27Se encendió por tanto, el furor de Jehová contra esta tierra, para traer sobre ella todas las maldiciones escritas en este Libro; ^29:28y Jehová los desarraigó de su tierra con ira, con furor y con gran indignación, y los echó a otra tierra, como sucede hoy’. ^29:29Las cosas secretas pertenecen a Jehová nuestro Dios; pero las reveladas son para nosotros y para nuestros hijos para siempre, a fin de que cumplamos todas las palabras de esta Ley. ^30:1Y sucederá que cuando te sobrevinieren todas estas cosas, la bendición y la maldición que he puesto delante de ti, y volvieres en sí en medio de todas las naciones a las cuales Jehová tu Dios te hubiere arrojado, ^30:2y te convirtieres a Jehová tu Dios, y obedecieres a su voz conforme a todo lo que yo te mando hoy, tú y tus hijos, con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma: ^30:3entonces Jehová tu Dios hará volver a tus cautivos, y tendrá misericordia de ti, y volverá a recogerte de entre todos los pueblos a los cuales Jehová tu Dios te hubiere esparcido. ^30:4Si hubieres sido arrojado hasta el cabo de los cielos, de allí te recogerá Jehová tu Dios, y de allá te tomará; ^30:5y Jehová tu Dios te hará volver a la tierra que heredaron tus padres, y la poseerás; y él te hará bien, y te multiplicará más que a tus padres. ^30:6Y Jehová tu Dios circuncidará tu corazón y el corazón de tu simiente, para que ames a Jehová tu Dios con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma, a fin de que vivas. ^30:7Y Jehová tu Dios pondrá todas estas maldiciones sobre tus enemigos, y sobre tus aborrecedores que te persiguieron. ^30:8Y tú volverás y oirás la voz de Jehová, y pondrás por obra todos sus Mandamientos que yo te ordeno hoy. ^30:9Y Jehová tu Dios te hará abundar en toda obra de tus manos, en el fruto de tu vientre, en el fruto de tu ganado y en el fruto de tu tierra, para bien: porque Jehová volverá a gozarse sobre ti para bien, de la manera que se gozó sobre tus padres; ^30:10cuando oyeres la voz de Jehová tu Dios, para guardar sus Mandamientos y sus Estatutos escritos en este Libro de la Ley; cuando te convirtieres a Jehová tu Dios con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma: ^30:11porque este mandamiento que yo te ordeno hoy, no te es encubierto, ni está lejos; ^30:12no está en el Cielo, para que digas, ‘¿Quién subirá por nosotros al Cielo y nos lo traerá, y nos lo hará oír para que lo cumplamos?’ ^30:13Ni está al otro lado del mar, para que digas: ‘¿Quién pasará por nosotros el mar, para que nos lo traiga y nos lo haga oír, a fin de que lo cumplamos?’ ^30:14Porque muy cerca de ti está la Palabra, en tu boca y en tu corazón, para que la cumplas. ^30:15Mira, yo he puesto delante de ti hoy la vida y el bien, la muerte y el mal: ^30:16porque yo te mando hoy que ames a Jehová tu Dios, que andes en sus caminos, y guardes sus Mandamientos y sus Estatutos y sus Derechos, para que vivas y seas multiplicado, y Jehová tu Dios te bendiga en la tierra a la cual entras para poseerla. ^30:17Pero si tu corazón se apartare, y no oyeres, y te dejares desviar, y te inclinares a dioses ajenos y los sirvieres; ^30:18yo os protesto hoy que de cierto pereceréis; no prolongaréis vuestros días sobre la tierra a la cual vais, pasando el Jordán, para poseerla. ^30:19Al Cielo y a la tierra llamo hoy como testigos contra ustedes, de que os he puesto delante la vida y la muerte, la bendición y la maldición. Escoge, pues, la vida, para que vivas tú y tu simiente; ^30:20y que ames a Jehová tu Dios, y obedezcas su voz, y te acerques a él: porque él es tu vida y la largura de tus días; a fin de que habites sobre la tierra que juró Jehová a tus padres Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, que les había de dar”.

§Único   Conclusión: Jehová le dijo a Moisés que el pueblo de Israel rompería el Pacto de él; y Moisés bendijo a las tribus de Israel (31:1 - 34:12)

^31:1Y Moisés fue y habló estas palabras a todo Israel, ^31:2y les dijo, “De edad de ciento veinte años soy hoy día; no puedo más salir ni entrar; además de esto Jehová me ha dicho, ‘No pasarás este Jordán’. ^31:3Jehová tu Dios, él pasa delante de ti; él destruirá a estas naciones de delante de ti, y las heredarás; Josué será el que pasará delante de ti, como Jehová ha dicho. ^31:4Y Jehová hará con ellos como hizo con Sehón y con Og, reyes de los amorreos, y con su tierra, a quienes destruyó. ^31:5Y Jehová los entregará delante de ustedes, y haréis con ellos conforme a todo lo que os he mandado. ^31:6Esforzaos y sed valientes; no temáis, ni tengáis miedo de ellos: porque Jehová tu Dios es el que va contigo; no te dejará ni te desamparará”. ^31:7Y llamó Moisés a Josué, y le dijo a vista de todo Israel, “Esfuérzate y sé valiente: porque tú entrarás con este pueblo a la tierra que juró Jehová a sus padres que les daría, y tú se la harás heredar. ^31:8Y Jehová es el que va delante de ti; él estará contigo, no te dejará, ni te desamparará; no temas, ni desmayes”.

^31:9Y escribió Moisés esta Ley, y la dio a los sacerdotes, hijos de Leví, que llevaban el arca del Pacto de Jehová, y a todos los Ancianos de Israel. ^31:10Y les mandó Moisés, diciendo, “Al fin de cada siete años, en el año de la remisión, en la Fiesta de los Tabernáculos, ^31:11cuando viniere todo Israel a presentarse delante de Jehová tu Dios en el lugar que él escogiere, leerás esta Ley delante de todo Israel a oídos de ellos. ^31:12Harás congregar al pueblo, varones y mujeres y niños, y tus extranjeros que estuvieren en tus ciudades, para que oigan y aprendan, y teman a Jehová vuestro Dios, y cuiden de poner por obra todas las palabras de esta Ley; ^31:13y para que los hijos de ellos que no supieron, oigan, y aprendan a temer a Jehová vuestro Dios, mientras viváis en la tierra adonde vais, cruzando el Jordán para poseerla”.

^31:14Y Jehová dijo a Moisés, “He aquí se ha acercado el día en que has de morir; llama a Josué, y presentaos en el Tabernáculo de la congregación para que yo le dé el cargo”. Fueron, pues, Moisés y Josué, y se presentaron en el Tabernáculo de la congregación. ^31:15Y Jehová se apareció en el Tabernáculo, en la columna de nube; y la columna de nube se puso sobre la puerta del Tabernáculo. ^31:16Y Jehová dijo a Moisés, “He aquí tú vas a dormir con tus padres, y este pueblo se levantará y fornicará tras los dioses ajenos de la tierra adonde va para estar en medio de ellos; y me dejará, y quebrantará mi Pacto que he concertado con él. ^31:17Y mi furor se encenderá contra ellos en aquel día; y los abandonaré, y esconderé de ellos mi rostro y serán consumidos; y muchos males y angustias vendrán sobre ellos, y dirán en aquel día, ‘¿No nos han venido estos males porque no está nuestro Dios en medio de nosotros?’ ^31:18Y yo esconderé ciertamente mi rostro en aquel día, por todo el mal que ellos habrán hecho, por haberse vuelto a dioses ajenos. ^31:19Ahora, pues, escribe este cántico, y enséñalo a los hijos de Israel; ponlo en su boca, para que este cántico me sea por testigo contra los hijos de Israel: ^31:20porque cuando yo los introduzca en la tierra que juré a sus padres, la cual fluye leche y miel, comerán, y se saciarán, y engordarán; y luego se volverán a dioses ajenos y les servirán, y me enojarán y quebrantarán mi Pacto. ^31:21Y sucederá que cuando les sobrevinieren muchos males y angustias, entonces este cántico responderá en su cara como testigo, pues no será olvidado de la boca de su linaje: porque yo conozco lo que se proponen, aun hoy, antes que los introduzca en la tierra que juré darles”.

^31:22Y Moisés escribió este cántico aquel día, y lo enseñó a los hijos de Israel. ^31:23Y dio orden a Josué hijo de Nun, y dijo, “Esfuérzate y sé valiente, pues tú meterás a los hijos de Israel en la tierra que les juré, y yo estaré contigo”.

^31:24Y cuando Moisés acabó de escribir en un Libro las palabras de esta Ley, hasta concluirse, ^31:25mandó Moisés a los levitas que llevaban el arca del Pacto de Jehová, diciendo, ^31:26“Tomad este Libro de la Ley, y ponedlo al lado del arca del Pacto de Jehová vuestro Dios, y esté allí por testigo contra ti: ^31:27porque yo conozco tu rebelión, y tu dura cerviz; he aquí que aún viviendo yo hoy con ustedes, sois rebeldes a Jehová; ¿cuánto más después de que yo haya muerto? ^31:28Congregad a mí a todos los Ancianos de vuestras tribus, y a vuestros oficiales, y hablaré a sus oídos estas palabras, y llamaré por testigos contra ellos al Cielo y a la tierra: ^31:29porque yo sé que después de mi muerte, ciertamente os corromperéis y os apartaréis del camino que os he mandado; y que os ha de venir mal en los postreros días, por haber hecho mal ante los ojos de Jehová, enojándole con la obra de vuestras manos”.

¶El complemento   Moisés bendijo a las tribus de Israel antes de la muerte de él (31:30 - 34:12)

^31:30Entonces Moisés habló a oídos de toda la congregación de Israel las palabras de este cántico hasta acabarlo: ^32:1“Escuchad, oh cielos, y hablaré; Y oiga la tierra los dichos de mi boca. ^32:2Goteará como la lluvia mi doctrina; destilará como el rocío mi razonamiento; como la llovizna sobre la grama, y como las gotas sobre la hierba: ^32:3porque el Nombre de Jehová proclamaré; engrandeced a nuestro Dios. ^32:4Él es la Roca, cuya obra es perfecta: porque todos sus caminos son rectitud: Dios de verdad, y sin ninguna iniquidad; justo y recto es él. ^32:5Ellos se han corrompido a sí mismos; sus manchas no son las manchas de sus hijos, son una generación torcida y perversa. ^32:6¿Así pagas a Jehová, oh pueblo loco e ignorante? ¿No es él tu Padre que te poseyó? Él te hizo y te estableció. ^32:7Acuérdate de los tiempos antiguos; considera los años de muchas generaciones. Pregunta a tu padre, y él te declarará; a tus Ancianos, y te dirán. ^32:8Cuando el Altísimo dio a las naciones su herencia, cuando hizo dividir los hijos de los hombres, estableció los términos de los pueblos según el número de los hijos de Israel: ^32:9porque la porción de Jehová es su pueblo; Jacob la cuerda de su heredad. ^32:10Lo halló en tierra desierta, en desierto horrible y yermo; lo condujo alrededor, lo instruyó, lo guardó como la niña de su ojo. ^32:11Como el águila despierta su nidada, revolotea sobre sus polluelos, extiende sus alas, los toma, los lleva sobre sus alas. ^32:12Jehová solo le guió, y con él no hubo dios ajeno. ^32:13Lo hizo subir sobre las alturas de la tierra, y comió los frutos del campo, e hizo que chupase miel de la peña, y aceite del duro pedernal; ^32:14mantequilla de vacas y leche de ovejas, con grosura de corderos, y carneros de Basán; también machos cabríos, con lo mejor del trigo; y bebiste la sangre pura de la uva. ^32:15Pero engordó Jesurún, y dio coces; engordaste, te cubriste de grasa. Entonces dejó al Dios que lo hizo, y menospreció a la Roca de su salvación. ^32:16Lo provocaron a celos con dioses ajenos; con abominaciones lo provocaron a ira. ^32:17Ofrecieron sacrificio a los demonios, no a Dios; a dioses que no habían conocido, a nuevos dioses venidos de cerca, que no habían temido vuestros padres. ^32:18De la Roca que te creó te olvidaste; te has olvidado de Dios tu Creador. ^32:19Y lo vio Jehová, y se encendió en ira, por el menosprecio de sus hijos y de sus hijas. ^32:20Y dijo, ‘Esconderé de ellos mi rostro, veré cuál será su fin; pues son una generación perversa, hijos sin fe. ^32:21Ellos me movieron a celos con lo que no es Dios; me provocaron a ira con sus vanidades; yo también los moveré a celos con un pueblo que no es pueblo, los provocaré a ira con una nación insensata: ^32:22porque fuego se ha encendido en mi furor, y arderá hasta lo profundo del Infierno; y devorará la tierra y sus frutos, y abrasará los fundamentos de los montes. ^32:23Yo amontonaré males sobre ellos; emplearé en ellos mis saetas. ^32:24Serán consumidos de hambre, y devorados de fiebre ardiente y de destrucción amarga; diente de fieras enviaré también sobre ellos, con veneno de serpientes de la tierra. ^32:25De fuera desolará la espada, y dentro de las cámaras el espanto; así al joven como a la virgen, al que es amamantado como al hombre cano. ^32:26Yo dije, ‘Los esparciré lejos, haré cesar de entre los hombres la memoria de ellos’, ^32:27si no temiese la ira del enemigo, no sea que se envanezcan sus adversarios, no sea que digan: ‘Nuestra mano alta ha hecho todo esto, no Jehová’. ^32:28Porque son una nación privada de consejos, y no hay en ellos entendimiento. ^32:29¡Oh, que fueran sabios, que comprendieran esto, que entendieran su postrimería! ^32:30¿Cómo podría perseguir uno a mil, y dos hacer huir a diez mil, si su Roca no los hubiese vendido, y Jehová no los hubiera entregado? ^32:31Porque la roca de ellos no es como nuestra Roca: Aun nuestros mismos enemigos son de ello jueces: ^32:32porque de la vid de Sodoma es la vid de ellos, y de los campos de Gomorra: sus uvas son uvas ponzoñosas, sus racimos son amargos. ^32:33Veneno de dragones es su vino, y ponzoña cruel de áspides. ^32:34¿No tengo yo esto guardado conmigo, sellado en mis tesoros? ^32:35Mía es la venganza y la paga, a su tiempo su pie vacilará: porque el día de su aflicción está cercano, y lo que les está preparado se apresura: ^32:36porque Jehová juzgará a su pueblo, y por amor de sus siervos se arrepentirá, cuando viere que su fuerza se ha ido, y que no queda preso o desamparado. ^32:37Y dirá, ‘¿Dónde están sus dioses, la roca en que se refugiaban; ^32:38que comían la grosura de sus sacrificios, y bebían el vino de sus libaciones? Levántense, que os ayuden y os defiendan’. ^32:39Ved ahora que yo, incluso yo, soy él; y no hay dioses conmigo; yo hago morir, y yo hago vivir; yo hiero, y yo curo; y no hay quien pueda librar de mi mano: ^32:40porque yo alzo a los Cielo mi mano, y digo: ‘Vivo yo para siempre’. ^32:41Si afilare mi reluciente espada, y mi mano tomare el Juicio, yo tomaré venganza de mis enemigos, y daré el pago a los que me aborrecen. ^32:42Embriagaré de sangre mis saetas, y mi espada devorará carne; en la sangre de los muertos y de los cautivos, desde sus cabezas; en venganzas sobre el enemigo. ^32:43Regocijaos, oh naciones, con su pueblo: porque él vengará la sangre de sus siervos, y tomará venganza de sus enemigos, y será misericordioso a su tierra y a su pueblo’.”

^32:44Y vino Moisés y recitó todas las palabras de este cántico a oídos del pueblo, él, y Josué hijo de Nun. ^32:45Y acabó Moisés de recitar todas estas palabras a todo Israel; ^32:46y les dijo, “Poned vuestro corazón a todas las palabras que yo os testifico hoy, para que las mandéis a vuestros hijos, y cuiden de poner por obra todas las palabras de esta Ley: ^32:47porque no os es cosa vana, pero es vuestra vida; y por ellas haréis prolongar vuestros días sobre la tierra adonde vais, pasando el Jordán para poseerla”.

^32:48Y Jehová habló a Moisés aquel mismo día, diciendo, ^32:49“Sube a este monte de Abarim, al monte Nebo, que está en la tierra de Moab, que está frente a Jericó, y mira la tierra de Canaán, que yo doy por heredad a los hijos de Israel; ^32:50y muere en el monte al cual subes, y sé reunido a tu pueblo; así como murió Aarón tu hermano en el monte Hor, y fue reunido a su pueblo; ^32:51por cuanto prevaricasteis contra mí en medio de los hijos de Israel en las aguas de Meriba de Cades, en el desierto de Zin: porque no me santificasteis en medio de los hijos de Israel. ^32:52Verás, por tanto, delante de ti la tierra; pero no entrarás allá, a la tierra que doy a los hijos de Israel”.

^33:1Y ésta es la bendición con la que Moisés, varón de Dios, bendijo a los hijos de Israel, antes de morir. ^33:2Y dijo, “Jehová vino de Sinaí, y de Seir les esclareció; resplandeció del monte de Parán, y vino con diez mil santos; a su diestra la Ley de fuego para ellos. ^33:3Sí, él amó al pueblo; todos sus santos están en tu mano; y ellos también se sientan a tus pies; cada uno recibirá de tus palabras”. ^33:4(Una Ley nos mandó Moisés, la heredad de la congregación de Jacob. ^33:5Y fue rey en Jesurún, cuando se congregaron las cabezas del pueblo con las tribus de Israel.) ^33:6“Viva Rubén, y no muera; y no sean pocos sus varones”. ^33:7Y esta es la bendición para Judá; dijo así, “Oye, oh Jehová, la voz de Judá, y tráelo a su pueblo. Sus manos le basten, y sé tú su ayuda contra sus enemigos”. ^33:8Y a Leví dijo, “Tu Tumim y tu Urim, sean con tu varón santo a quien probaste en Masah, con quien luchaste en las aguas de Meriba; ^33:9el que dijo a su padre y a su madre: ‘No los he visto’; y no reconoció a sus hermanos, ni conoció a sus propios hijos: pues ellos guardaron tu Palabra, y observaron tu Pacto. ^33:10Enseñarán tus Juicios a Jacob, y tu Ley a Israel; pondrán el incienso delante de ti, y el holocausto sobre tu altar. ^33:11Bendice, oh Jehová, lo que hicieren, y recibe con agrado la obra de sus manos; hiere los lomos de sus enemigos, y de los que lo aborrecieren; para que nunca se levanten”. ^33:12Y de Benjamín dijo, “El amado de Jehová habitará confiado cerca de él; Jehová lo cubrirá siempre, y entre sus hombros morará”. ^33:13Y de José dijo, “Bendita de Jehová sea su tierra, con lo mejor de los cielos, con el rocío, y con el abismo que está debajo. ^33:14Con los más preciosos frutos del sol, y con los más preciosos frutos de la luna, ^33:15con lo mejor de los montes antiguos, y con lo precioso de los collados eternos, ^33:16y con lo más precioso de la tierra y su plenitud; y la gracia del que habitó en la zarza venga sobre la cabeza de José, y sobre la coronilla del consagrado de sus hermanos. ^33:17Su gloria es como la del primogénito de su toro, y sus cuernos, cuernos de unicornio; con ellos acorneará a los pueblos juntos hasta los fines de la tierra; y éstos son los diez millares de Efraín, y éstos los millares de Manasés”. ^33:18Y de Zabulón dijo, “Alégrate, Zabulón, cuando salieres; y tú Isacar, en tus tiendas. ^33:19Llamarán a los pueblos al monte; allí ofrecerán sacrificios de justicia; por lo cual chuparán de la abundancia de los mares, y de los tesoros escondidos de la arena”. ^33:20Y de Gad dijo, “Bendito el que hizo ensanchar a Gad; como león habita, y desgarra brazo y testa. ^33:21Y él proveyó para sí la primera parte: porque allí una porción del legislador le fue reservada. Y vino con los jefes del pueblo; Ejecutó la justicia de Jehová, y sus Juicios con Israel”. ^33:22Y de Dan dijo, “Dan es un cachorro de león; él saltará desde Basán”. ^33:23Y de Neftalí dijo, “Neftalí, colmado de favores, y lleno de la bendición de Jehová, posee el occidente y el sur”. ^33:24Y de Aser dijo, “Bendecido sea Aser con hijos; sea agradable a sus hermanos, y moje su pie en aceite. ^33:25Hierro y bronce será tu calzado, y como tus días, así será tu fortaleza. ^33:26No hay como el Dios de Jesurún, que cabalga sobre los cielos para tu ayuda, y sobre las nubes en su majestad. ^33:27El eterno Dios es tu refugio y acá abajo los brazos eternos; él echará de delante de ti al enemigo, y dirá, ‘Destruye’. ^33:28E Israel, la fuente de Jacob, habitará confiado solo en tierra de grano y de vino; también sus cielos destilarán rocío. ^33:29¡Bienaventurado tú, oh Israel! ¡¿Quién como tú, pueblo salvo por Jehová, escudo de tu socorro, y espada de tu excelencia?! Así que tus enemigos serán humillados, y tú hollarás sobre sus lugares altos”.

^34:1Y subió Moisés de los campos de Moab al monte Nebo, a la cumbre del Pisga, que está frente a Jericó. Y le mostró Jehová toda la tierra de Galaad hasta Dan, ^34:2y a todo Neftalí, y la tierra de Efraín y de Manasés, toda la tierra de Judá hasta el mar occidental; ^34:3el Neguev, y la llanura del valle de Jericó, ciudad de las palmeras, hasta Zoar. ^34:4Y le dijo Jehová, “Ésta es la tierra de que juré a Abraham, a Isaac y a Jacob, diciendo, ‘A tu simiente la daré’. Te he permitido que la veas con tus ojos, pero no pasarás allá”. ^34:5Y murió allí Moisés siervo de Jehová, en la tierra de Moab, conforme a la Palabra de Jehová. ^34:6Y lo enterró en el valle, en tierra de Moab, enfrente de Bet-peor; pero ninguno sabe dónde está su sepulcro hasta hoy. ^34:7Y era Moisés de edad de ciento veinte años cuando murió; sus ojos nunca se oscurecieron, ni perdió su vigor. ^34:8Y los hijos de Israel lloraron a Moisés en los campos de Moab treinta días; y así se cumplieron los días del lloro y del luto por Moisés. ^34:9Y Josué hijo de Nun fue lleno del Espíritu de sabiduría: porque Moisés había puesto sus manos sobre él; y los hijos de Israel le obedecieron, e hicieron como Jehová mandó a Moisés. ^34:10Y nunca más se levantó profeta en Israel como Moisés, a quien haya conocido Jehová cara a cara: ^34:11en todas las señales y prodigios que Jehová le envió a hacer en tierra de Egipto, a Faraón, y a todos sus siervos y a toda su tierra; ^34:12y en toda aquella mano poderosa, y en todos los hechos grandiosos y terribles que Moisés hizo a la vista de todo Israel.
