O Book 2.4: Jehovah is the Great Creator of the Universe and Helper of Israel

C Part 1: Jehovah is the Great Creator of the Universe

U Chapter 1.1: The mercy of Jehovah is from Eternity past to Eternity future upon them that fear him (Psalm 103)

U Introduction

U Bless Jehovah, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless his holy Name.

C Bless Jehovah, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits;

C who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases; who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.

C Body

O Jehovah executes righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. He made known his ways to Moses, and his acts to the children of Israel.

O Jehovah is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. He will not always chide; neither will he keep his anger forever. He has not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities: for as the Heaven is high over the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

C Like a father that pities his children, so Jehovah pities them that fear him: for he knows our frame; he remembers that we are only dust.

C As for man, his days are like grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes: for the wind passes over it, and it is gone; and its place shall know it no longer.

U But the mercy of Jehovah is from Eternity past to Eternity future upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto childrens children: to such as keep his Covenant, and to those that remember his Commandments to do them.

C Conclusion

C Jehovah has prepared his throne in the heavens; and his Kingdom rules over all.

C Bless Jehovah, you his angels, that excel in strength, that do his Commandments, giving heed to the voice of his Word. Bless Jehovah, all you his hosts; you ministers of his, that do his pleasure. Bless Jehovah, all his works in all places of his dominion.

U Bless Jehovah, O my soul.

C Chapter 1.2: Jehovah is the Maker of the sea and dry land (Psalm 95)

U Introduction

U O come, let us sing to Jehovah.

C Let us make a joyful sound to the Rock of our salvation.

C Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful sound to him with psalms.

C Body

U For Jehovah is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

C In his hand are the deep places of the earth; the strength of the hills is his also.

C The sea is his; and he made it; and his hands formed the dry land.

O O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before Jehovah our Maker:

O for he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

C Conclusion

C Today if you will hear his voice, saying, Harden not your heart, as in the rebellion, and as in the day of testing in the wilderness; when your fathers tested me, proved me, and saw my work.

C Forty years long was I grieved with this generation; and I said, It is a people that go astray in their heart; and they have not known my ways;

U to whom I swore in my wrath that they would not enter into my rest.

C Chapter 1.3: Jehovah is the Maker of each one of us (Psalm 139)

U Introduction

U Jehovah, you have searched me, and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; you understand my thought far away. You surround my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways: for there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Jehovah, you know it altogether.

C You have beset me behind and before, and laid your hand upon me.

C Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain to it.

C Body

U Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend up into Heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Hell, behold, you are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there shall your hand lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.

C If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me, even the night shall be as light about me. Moreover, the darkness hides nothing from you, but the night shines like the day; the darkness and the light are both alike to you: for you have possessed my reins; you have covered me in my mothers womb.

C I will praise you: for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are marvelous, and that my soul knows very well. My substance was not hidden from you, when I was made in secret, and skillfully formed in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, still being imperfect; and in your Book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there were none of them.

O How precious also are your thoughts to me, O God! How great is their sum! If I could count them, they are more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with you.

O Surely you will slay the wicked, O God; therefore depart from me, you bloody men: for they speak against you wickedly, and your enemies take your Name in vain. Do I not hate them, O Jehovah, that hate you? And am not I grieved with those that rise up against you? I hate them with perfect hatred; I count them as my enemies.

C Conclusion

C Search me, O God, and know my heart;

C examine me, and know my thoughts;

U and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the Way Everlasting.

O Chapter 1.4: From Eternity past to Eternity future, Jehovah is the one true God (Psalm 90)

U Jehovah, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, even from Eternity past to Eternity future, you are the true God.

C You turn man to destruction, and say, Return, you children of men. For a thousand years in your sight are like yesterday when it is past, and a watch in the night. You carry them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep. In the morning they are like grass which grows up. In the morning it flourishes, and grows up; in the evening it is cut down, and withers.

C For we are consumed by your anger, and by your wrath are we troubled. You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your countenance: for all our days are passed away in your wrath; we spend our years like a momentary thought. The days of our years are seventy; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow: for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

O Who knows the power of your anger? Even according to your fear, so is your wrath. So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.

O Return, O Jehovah. How long? And let it repent you concerning your servants. O satisfy us early with your mercy, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Make us glad according to the days wherein you have afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil. Let your work appear to your servants, and your glory to their children; and let the beauty of Jehovah our God be upon us; and establish the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands, establish it.

O Chapter 1.5: Jehovahs Name is excellent in all the earth (Psalm 8)

O O Jehovah our Lord, how excellent is your Name in all the earth! Who have set your glory above the heavens.

O Out of the mouth of children and infants you have ordained strength because of your enemies, that you might silence the enemy and the avenger.

C When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained: what is man, that you are mindful of him? And what is the son of man, that you visit him?

C For you have made him a little lower than the angels; and you have crowned him with glory and honor. You made him to rule over the works of your hands. You have put all things under his feet: all sheep and oxen; moreover, the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passes through the paths of the seas.

U O Jehovah our Lord, how excellent is your Name in all the earth!

C Part 2: Jehovah is the Great Helper of Israel

U Chapter 2.1: Jehovah is the helper of the weak and defenseless (Psalm 146)

U Introduction

U Praise Jehovah! Praise Jehovah, O my soul.

C While I live, I will praise Jehovah;

C I will sing praises to my God while I have any being.

C Body

O Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His spirit departs; he returns to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

O But happy is he that has the God of Jacob for his helper; whose hope is in Jehovah his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea and everything in it; who keeps truth forever; who executes judgment for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry.

C Jehovah releases the prisoners;

C Jehovah opens the eyes of the blind;

U Jehovah raises them that are bowed down;

C Conclusion

C Jehovah loves the righteous.

C Jehovah preserves the strangers; he relieves the fatherless and widow; but the way of the wicked he turns upside down.

U Jehovah shall reign forever, even your God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise Jehovah!

C Chapter 2.2: Jehovah is the refuge of his people Israel (Psalm 94)

U Introduction

U O Jehovah God, to whom vengeance belongs; O God, to whom vengeance belongs, show yourself. Lift up yourself, you Judge of the earth; render a reward to the proud.

C Jehovah, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? How long shall they utter and speak hard things, and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? They break your people in pieces, O Jehovah, and afflict your inheritance. They kill the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless. Yet they say, Jehovah shall not see; neither shall the God of Jacob care.

C Understand, you stupid among the people; and you fools, when will you be wise? He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? He that formed the eye, shall he not see? He that disciplines the heathen, shall he not correct? He that teaches man knowledge, shall he not know? Jehovah knows the thoughts of man, that they are vain.

C Body

U Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O Jehovah, and teach him out of your Law, that you may give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit has been dug for the wicked.

C For Jehovah will not cast off his people; neither will he forsake his inheritance.

C But judgment shall return to righteousness; and all the upright in heart shall follow it.

O Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? And who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? Unless Jehovah had been my help, my soul would have almost dwelt in silence.

O When I said, My foot is slipping, your mercy, O Jehovah, held me up. In the multitude of my thoughts within me your comforts delight my soul.

C Conclusion

C Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with you, they who frame mischief by a law? They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.

C But Jehovah is my defense, and my God is the Rock of my refuge.

U And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, Jehovah our God shall cut them off.

C Chapter 2.3: Jehovah is the help and shield of his people Israel (Psalm 115)

U Introduction

U Not to us, O Jehovah, not to us, but to your Name give glory, for your mercy, and for your truths sake.

C Why should the heathen say, Where is their God now?

C But our God is in the heavens; he has done whatsoever he has pleased.

C Body

U Their idols are silver and gold, the work of mens hands. They have mouths, but they do not speak; they have eyes, but they do not see; they have ears, but they do not hear; they have noses, but they do not smell; they have hands, but they do not handle; they have feet, but they do not walk; neither do they speak through their throat. They that make them are like them; so is every one that trusts in them.

C O Israel, trust in Jehovah; he is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in Jehovah; he is their help and their shield. You that fear Jehovah, trust in Jehovah; he is their help and their shield.

C Jehovah has been mindful of us; he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron; he will bless them that fear Jehovah, both small and great. Jehovah shall increase you more and more, both you and your children.

O You are blessed of Jehovah who made heaven and earth.

O The heaven, even the heavens, are Jehovahs; but the earth has he given to the children of men.

C Conclusion

C The dead do not praise Jehovah; neither any that go down into silence.

C But we will bless Jehovah from this time forth and forevermore.

U Praise Jehovah!

O Chapter 2.4: God is my personal helper (Psalm 54)

U Save me, O God, by your Name, and judge me by your strength.

C Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth:

C For strangers have risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul. They have not set God before them. Selah.

O Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is with them that uphold my soul; he shall reward evil to my enemies; cut them off in your truth.

O I will freely sacrifice to you; I will praise your Name, O Jehovah: for it is good. For he has delivered me out of all trouble; and my eye has looked upon the destruction of my enemies.

O Chapter 2.5: Israels help is in the Name of Jehovah (Psalm 124)

O If it had not been Jehovah who was on our side, now may Israel say; if it had not been Jehovah who was on our side, when men rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us up alive.

O When their wrath was kindled against us, then the waters would have overwhelmed us; the stream would have gone over our soul; then the proud waters would have gone over our soul.

C Blessed is Jehovah, who has not given us as a prey to their teeth.

C Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the bird hunters. The snare is broken; and we have escaped.

U Our help is in the Name of Jehovah, who made heaven and earth.
